Hi Everyone,
I guess with the summer lots of folks are using the grill. I still love my crockpot. I recently made a chuckroast with potatoes and carrots. I put some beef broth in there with it and a little white wine and some sazon and away we go. 5 hours on high should do it. I just wing it. lol Check it once and a while. I like chefs potatoes. I get them at a meat market and they cook quickly.

I am sitting goals and a way to accomplish them.

My goal is to lose 10 lbs each month until Christmas. The way I plan to do this is to get out there and walk more. Watch what I eat more closely.

I am in need of a Pork Loin Recipe, but my Pork Loin is FROZEN.. Has anyone out there done a Loin in the crock pot from the frozen stage or is it always recommended to thaw it first? If you have a great recipe that does not have too may onions or peppers in it please post it as a message on my page for me. I am looking to do this either Tuesday or Wednesday morning for dinner that night.

Thank you everyone!!!

Yes it really works, I recently went to my sister-in-laws for lunch and her ham was way too salty, she had never heard of adding a potato. So give it a go.

Really looking forward to using up the leftover ham from the holiday. I know with some recipes you can remove extra salt by adding potato then discarding, if I were to make a crock of bean soup with ham, could I add potato to de-salt the ham so to speak? Anyone have any ideas?

I've been getting ready to move, and moving, for it feels like months (actually weeks). Lots of fast food and junk. Yesterday for the first time in forever, I made a roast in the crockpot, and you know what I liked best about it? The carrots! Perfectly done, not mush, nice and sweet - I was wishing I'd thrown more in!!

Good morning all.

The wind is still blowing outside. I believe it is to get to about 80 degrees today.

For those who are following, there has been no basic change in my wife. She is still the same. Took her a picture of one of our dogs. She wanted that because she considers the dog her baby (not literally). She wanted be to bring the dog, but the hospital does has its regulations.

Anyway, it is a nice day. Need to get some work around the house done. So enjoy your day.

Hey Y'all!

I have posted this on another thread on our Team, but want to make sure that y'all are aware that if I should miss posting for a day or so it is because my family and I are getting ready to go back to Hawaii and celebrate our daughters' birthdays. We'll get back and be home for a few short days and then we're scheduled to take a cruise. So in those travel times, let me go ahead and send a warm, heart-felt emoticon to all new members. I'll be online as soon/as often as possible to check in.

Oh, and new members, please introduce yourself! We're all looking forward to getting to know you! emoticon

I made a few changes, I didn't put in the potatoes, I cut back on the Curry and added Cayenne Pepper. It was good, I enjoyed it very much.

Kristin---what recipe did you try and how was it??

I am trying venison stew in my crock pot today. I threw the meat and veggies in and added a can of tomato soup. I am also making bread---I haven't done homemade bread in ages!! It was less work then I imagined. I hope it turns out good. If it does, I will experiment with swapping out some white flour for whole wheat to get it a bit healthier.

Good morning all.

I usually make my own. The receipt is one that has been in the family for ever. I grew up on it. The basic receipt is macaroni, ground beef and canned tomatoes. Spice it up any way you like after that.

I prefer to fix my own meals, there are very few prepared meals I like and those I do fix when I get lazy or run out of ideas or staples.

Now enjoy your day.

Sometimes that's the perfect thing to 'hit the spot'. A bowl of hot soup, a grilled cheese sandwich or warm some leftover meat and put it on toast. If we weren't already having a sweet bourbon pork roast for supper, that's what I'd make.

Larry, I don't think that is lazy at all, I think that it is well planned out. I purposely think, what can I make that I can use the next day in a different way, roasts turn into sandwhiches, chicken into soups, it all works out and means less stress on you! That is the best part of slow cookers - plan once eat twice!

I am loving this team, great ideas and nice people. Can't wait to figure out what to cook tommorow in the cooker!

Good afternoon all.

Good thing I went to the store Monday night or I might not have made it yesterday or today. We have 2" of snow and more cold than we know what to do with. Had a crock pot roast beef yesterday but will have soup and sandwiches today. I get lazy once and awhile.

Enjoy your afternoon

I am so glad I found you guys. Right now, I have about a weeks worth of crock pot cooked meals, divided up into appropriate serving sizes. When I get home at night, I just pop one in the microwave, and I have a healthy dinner ready to go. No guesswork on calories, no stress about portion control since I measured it when I put it in the tupperware. This is awesome!!!!

The year is well underway. Are all of you enjoying the food now. I am so tired of the rich food at Christmas that a good stew now is ideal. How you all have a wonderful year and reach all your goals.

Lol! I grew up in Southern California, and it was a tradition to watch the Rose Parade every year. The last few years I've worked New Years day, so you have no idea how tickled I was this year to have the day off, and have the opportunity to curl up and watch the parade. What a great kickoff to a new year!

I get e-mails all the time telling me I have millions waiting for me, all I have to do is contact the party listed and send them some money to release the funds. I do not work that way. After 30 years as a Security Officer, I am just a little leary of get rich schemes.

Now go and enjoy your day.

Hi Y'all!

A team member on a different team that I belong to had something scary happen. I am telling you about this to give you a 'heads up' and not to scare you.

She received a SP mail from a man in Africa and he asked her to marry him! She did report it to the Coaches because she thought it odd; she is already happily married. She was shocked at this SP mail and I don't think she even knew the man who sent it.

Not that you're gonna receive something like this, but PLEASE be careful! Don't hesitate to report anything 'odd' to the Coaches. (Several others on that Team say that they've been getting other spam messages.) Be safe!

Oh, and to answer your question about the Rose Parade and all, I'm in Texas not Pasadena. Cool! You love roses too!

Hi All. With my lifestyle crock pots are my savior. I have just had a hard time figuring out how to make the recipes healthier. My kids and husband hate "mushy" veggies so I can't throw those in the pot. Pleasantly anxious to see what I can find in here :)

Hi Y'all! WOW! We're having gorgeous weather! Today was the Rose Festival parade that lasted for 3 hours and the arts/crafts fair that follows it! Cities from all across the Country send in their representatives in similar regalia as the Queen, just not near as much - the gowns are gorgeous! Roses, roses, roses! The air is sweet with their heavenly fragrance! The queen's robe is spectacular, studded with jewels galore! The train has got to easily measure 50 feet or more; it is quite long! It's absolutely breathtaking! Her crown is quite tall and also jewel studded! She even has a jeweled cross on her gown beautifully designed into the front neckline of her Queen Anne style regalia! Her throne says at the base (all around it) "To God be the glory!" Yesterday was the Queen's Tea and talk about something to see! Beyond words! WOW!

We have been enjoying the festivities for sure! The Rose Garden where many of the celebration events are taking place is sooo pretty too! HUNDREDS of colors, shapes and sizes of roses! Roses in many shades of red, yellow, orange, lavender, deep royal purple, blue, pink, white, varigated with quite a variety of color mixtures, and even GREEN ones! All the colors of the rainbow in fragrant bloom! It's fantastic to see! Roses are my favorites as y'all know, so I especially love it! Even if roses are not your favorite flowers, you'd love it too!

Oh! and if I didn't tell you, Clydesdale horses were even present this morning at the parade and pulled a real 'old west' stage coach! SOOO COOOL! Yes, I guess I sound like a kid in the candy store - I just LOVED it all! So fun! emoticon

I really like your second day ideas Flybabychr! I had to read it and re-read it about 4 times but I think I've got it!

I made a huge crock pot of bean barley soup and just left the pot on low for about 24 hours after it was finished cooking. The kids kept going back for more until it was gone!

CEB have you tried "second day" recipe ideas?

Like with a pot roast, on the first night I have the pot roast; and I make a homemade TV dinner for the fridge out of the leftovers. I'll eat the TV dinner in a few days or take it for lunch.

Then for the rest of the roast, I divide up the remainder of the beef and freeze for future use:
-one third sliced for sandwiches, or sliced in strips for fajitas &quesadillas;
-another third reserved for French Dip or BBQ beef;
-and the other third I cube up for future use in soups and stews, like Chipotle Beef Stew, stroganoff, Beef Barley Veg Soup, Mexican Beef Bean stew, or Veggie Beef soup, etc.

The key is, for "second day" if you're having the beef again, to make something else out of it with a completely different flavor from first day's pot roast. Like Asian (orange beef, Thai beef, beef & broccoli) or Mexican or BBQ (or whatever type food you like).

With homemade spaghetti sauce, the first day is usually baked ziti, lasagne, filled manicotti or large shells, goulash, or penne in red sauce, etc. The "second day" will become pizza sauce, chicken parmesan, French Bread Pizzas or English muffin pizzas in the oven, tomato veggie soup, or chili in the crockpot, etc.

With chicken you can have herbed or roasted in the crockpot on the first night, and make a fridge/TV dinner. "Second day(s)" can be: cream of soup & rice, Hawaiian, salsa crock pot chicken, stir fry, chicken salad, cacciatore, quesadillas, chicken parmesan, chicken noodle soup, chicken nuggets, tortilla soup, chicken pot pie, etc.

So each crockpot makes alot of different meals.

Sounds like you have got it under control. With working outside the home, the crockpot is a life saver. My only problem is I usually cook too much. There's only two of us and we have to eat is a long time (even freezing) before it's gone.

I bought a lot of meat on sale, and need to cook it up. I'm moving and packing moving boxes, so I'm going to put it all in crockpots.

I keep all my seasoning packets in a Tupperware container and got them out last night. I have the oven kind (with attached oven bag), the marinade kind, and the crockpot kind, but they all work really well in the crockpot.

I buy them only when they're on sale and I have a coupon. Most of them are McCormick. Sometimes I forget they're there, but I remembered them last night. I guess because I was so pleased with how the chili turned out, even tho it wasn't from scratch.

Last night I pulled McCormick's BBQ Pulled Pork seasoning packet. I'm going to make 2 tenderloins (sale $1.78lb), one BBQ and one herb seasoning packet, one beef pot roast, one beef stew packet mix I'm going to make Chipotle Beef Stew, and Beef Barley Veg Soup, chicken with Ginger Teriyaki marinade mix, and I got out 3 envelopes of onion soup mix to put in the herbed roasts and meatloaf. Yum yum yum.

I have menus planned for an entire week! Just add a ton of veggies and a green salad, and you have low carb meals. Add whole grain item for low glycemic (whole wheat or sourdough bread, brown rice, quinoa, barley).

My pork tenderloins are very large, so I'm going to make a third crockpot of Hawaiian tenderloin, with red and green sweet pepper, onion, pineapple, sugar snap peas, carrot; and marmalade or apricot jam mixed with ketchup or tomato paste, pineapple juice, and soy sauce for the sauce. Over rice. Yum yum yum.

Also am going to make a couple tex mex chicken and beef recipes from SparkRecipes.com, like Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken, and Campbell's Slow Cooker Nacho Chicken Rice rollups. I don't have the Campbells cheese soup that is called for so I'll substitute light Velveeta. Yum yum yum.

I also want to make prevention.com's Slowcooker Cranberry-Apricot Pork Loin. I may just cut each tenderloin in half, then I would have 4, and enough for this recipe, as well. Have to see when I trim them, what's a good size for the crockpot.

I made cabbage sausage & bean soup two nights ago. I made the best chili last night, with 93% ground beef I had bought extra of on sale, batch cooked & froze.

Chili recipe:
browned ground beef - didn't measure, probably 2Cups cooked
1 can each of pinto & red beans, rinsed & drained, 14.5 oz ea
1 large onion chopped
1 28oz can of whole tomatoes w/juice - chopped in my hand with table knife over the crock pot, as I added them
1 46oz can tomato juice
2 pkgs McCormick Chili seasoning, 1.25 oz ea
1 TBLSP cumin
1 TBLSP garlic with parsley

Used up 4 more cans of canned goods in the chili, prior to moving them cross country, yippee! I usually make everything from scratch, but the canned goods are so fast and easy, which is what I need as I pack boxes. I only had to chop an onion. Also canned goods are heavy and will cost alot in gasoline to move across the country.

Hey all!
Been another crazy week in my world. Busy Busy Busy. I really miss not being able to get on spark people at work. But my new job has the site blocked along with many others, so I have to wait till I get home in the evenings, and by the time I fix dinner, eat, clean up, play with dogs, go to gym it only leaves a few minutes for sparking. emoticon So I get in what I can.

I had been stuck at a plateau for about a month and I finally managed to loose 3lbs this week. I am so excited. I finally broke through my plateau. emoticon emoticon Happy Dance!!!

Hope everyone is having great success as well. emoticon

Hi All! I'm tired tonight! Got quite a bit more done on 'settling in' our new home, still plenty to go, but it's really coming together nicely! Even got to paint (decoratively) some projects and they're in various stages of completion! Did a little yard work, standard house chores and that's just for starters!

New members, it's so nice to have you on our Team! Please feel free to join us in discussions and recipe sharing!

Nite everybody! emoticon

Good afternoon! I have been browsing all the recipes, and they look really good - I can't wait to try some of them! emoticon

Unfortunately, reading recipes tends to make me hungry. emoticon But I am resisting temptation. I don't have any good recipes to share yet, but you folks are inspiring me to experiment!! Thank you!

Hi Everybody!

Got in lots of exercise yesterday! emoticon

Today I have a lot to do also - seemingly endless errands trying to get the kids set up with all the extra items teachers come up with! Tonight the school is having a special back-to-school bash and are doing hotdogs and hamburgers.

Anyone got new recipes to share? Please do on the recipe thread!

Bon Apetite! emoticon

Good evening all.

I have not been around much lately. The surgery I had earlier took more out of me than I thought. I am now coming back to my old self.

Planning to attend my 50th high school reunion in October and then go and see my mother-in-law. She will be 90 years next month and as of this past weekend, she can not live by herself anymore. Am not sure as to what is going to happen, my wife is a little upset that we just cannot get in the car and go see her.

I understand how see feels, but she has several doctor appointments between now and the time we leave as well as a lack of funds at the moment. It will all work out between now and the time we leave.

Any way it is time to go to bed and get some sleep. Enjoy your rest.

Dear all,

Didn't have beef enchiladas but I did have some wonderful baked pork chops, red potatoes, salad and carrots.

Yum. Today I have class so it's taco tuesday at my house. Del Taco has tacos 3 for 1 dollar on Tuesday so when I have school we have tacos. NOt the healthiest but not bad either. I add some salad, then doctor up the tacos with salsa and light sour cream... Heck it's doable.

Every day in every way I will choose a healthy lifestyle~
