I am from Texas. We use a series of crockpots for Mexican foods. One for the Taco/burrito meat, one for the Nacho cheese sauce, one for the beans, one for the rice. We have done the same things for a nacho and chilidog meal at a family reunion. They keep foods warm so folks cam visit and eat at intervals. I put mine on a heavy duty extension cord and a power strip.

I have three crock pots that I use. I will have a main dish in one and use the other two for veggies/sides. I don't do it often but I had to use it for New Year's Eve/Day. I'm from the South and my mother would roll over if she thought I wasn't cooking black-eyed peas (not canned) with ham hocks, hog jowls, cabbage, and a meat. I chose pork chops this year and they were delicious. My fiancé had to set up an extension cord so I could fit everything in. I cooked everything all night (I started late.) Everything was very tender.

I love it too. I'm home all day but the smell of slow cooking just seems to take over the house in a way no other cooking does.
Blessings,
Vicky

I bought a slow cooker 3 weeks ago, and I use it every day that I cook.

Even the leftovers are good, so I don't have to cook every day. The meats are always so tender.

And there are a bunch of good recipes on SparkRecipes.com

Hi all! I didn't know we had this site until I read what Vivian said on our 50-70's site. Thanks Vivian, as I am going to start something in my crock pot in just a few minutes. My husband loves to smell something cooking when he comes in. It's cold here in Virginia today, girls, but no snow yet. Love, LaVerne
