I pulled out a couple of Crock Pot recipe books just to check, and each recipe I see says to add the rice at the beginning of the cooking time.

For example, a Fiesta Chicken with Rice and Benas cooks on low for 8-10 hours or high 4-6.

Hey all, I have a question for the more experienced crock pot chef.
I am planning to make a jambalaya this weekend and am going to use brown rice. I was wondering if i HAVE to make the rice first, or if i just toss it in with the other ingredients (and some extra liquid) will the rice cook properly?
Using my common sense, it seems that it should cook properly with the time emerged in liquid..
what do you think?
and what are you cooking this weekend?
