Has anyone else had a problem before with the D3? I never did until I moved up here to the Upper New York State area.

My PCP has put me on D3 due to the D3 deficiency that he found out about in my bloodwork. Prescription-one tablet a week (it is 50,000 iu's) for 12 weeks and then he will have more bloodwork done.

Carol, I really do think that the Juice Plus played a large part in getting me up to speed to have the surgery. I have had minimal problems and I got back on it just as soon as I felt I should after surgery. My husband uses it too, so the automatic shipping hasn't been a problem for us. He takes the two of each a day as Juice Plus recommends. I have been taking only one of each a day and getting really good results with that, so I'm sticking to one a day. I feel much better when I take them.

I want to try the juice plus ahead of time so that I can check to see how it is, but so far all I can find is where you have to have automatic shipping. I want to be able to order it as it goes and not on the automatic shipping. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm into week 4 after surgery at this time. I'm trying alternating soft foods and some regular foods, still doing at least one shake a day. I know I should be walking, and I am doing some, but I feel I should be doing more at this point. My energy level is quite low. I had a B-12 a couple of days ago and I am hoping it will kick in soon. Other than that, I have been tolerating foods well, able to eat about six spoons before reaching the "full" feeling. I'm chewing everything well, taking small bites, eating my proteins first and having very little nausea, so I guess I'm doing ok.

I have a couple of the the recommended books ordered but they have not come in yet. Amazon is slow sometimes.

On the bright side, I am able to wear some clothes that I have not worn in months!!

My doctor didn't really recommend any vitamin supplements and I was wondering if you have recommendations for that. I do take the Juice Plus Fruits and Vegetables because I am not eating many veges and fruits.

My boss said I could keep it open ended, but at least three weeks. (My two week check up is really three since my dr in on vacation that week). I was thinking two weeks since it's hard for me to sit at home and do nothing. There are a ton of things I can do at home but they all take some heavy lifting so that's a no-go.

I just got my bypass done on August 6, so far so good. It's not to easy to get into a new schedule, but being off work for so long will slow me down. Just working on the water and protein and remembering when to take my vitamins. I hope everyone is doing well on here and would love to hear more stories. ~ Jamie

Today was a bit better as this morning I was on the phone to another Gastro group and they have a fast track set up for those just needing the colonoscopy-I don't need to go in for a consult. The PA will call me to do a pre-triage and they are sending me the paperwork.
Hmmm.. so far this is better. We will see how this progresses. emoticonemoticonemoticon

On another note I received my chair boxing dvd in the mail today. I added it to the end of my today's work out. I started with my exercycle for 20 minutes, went on to my Kettlebell for 10 minutes, on to the dumbells for another 10 minutes, and then 15 minutes with the chair boxing. Great workout for me. I like the Chair boxing -my husband will be using it too.

I have been keeping up with my food and exercise tracking on Sparkpeople and my own journal.emoticonemoticon

Thank you. I am coming along good with my food and exercise tracking consistency and I feel that by next year it will just be second nature for me. I am into learning all I can and to get my self prepared for what is ahead.

On another note- I had the worst doctor visit to Gastro that I have ever had today. The only one I could get (even way ahead of time) was for 10am. My husband and I got off from work at 07:30am and then had to walk around our hospital finding things to do until 9am-when we went into Gastro and sat. At 10am she took me in to the "the room" where I sat and sat and sat-1 hour went by and no one even popped in to see if I was still breathing. I didn't feel all that well as I had not had anything to eat all night due to I had blood work done to check my A1C. I got tired of waiting with no one in sight. Hubby and I got our money back-which they were not too happy. But hey I was not happy to go through all that waiting. I have never had to wait so long. I cancelled the visit. Had to go home, eat and go to sleep. Have to work tonight. They won't be getting a good survey from me.

I am off work tomorrow (Wed) night and so will be on the phone to find a gastro appt for 8:30-9am in the near future.
Nothing like a negative doctor visit.

The only type of surgery my insurance will go for for me is the RNY. Surgery won't be until next year. Gives me the time to get my A1C in order, etc-things that need to get done this year. Spreads out the co-pay prices.

Just be prepared for it-the before and most of all the after. It is just a tool and it is up to us to follow directions and do what needs to be done as the schedule says.

You will be just fine-ok to get nervous. That is normal.emoticonemoticonemoticonemoticon

Dear Kel,

Thanks so much for your response. I am feeling a lot better about it and your words helped a lot. I saw my cardiologist today and he basically said the same thing you just did. I have a lot of faith in him and his staff and they were all encouraging. The support here is just amazing and one of the questions the cardiologist asked me was.........do you have a support system. I told him about this site and about the three friends that have had the procedure done so successfully. He said he is excited for me and looking forward to adjusting my blood pressure meds. Again, thank you for your reply. I'm excited to be sharing your success also and see that you have already lost !! Congrats on that!!

It is a very personal decision and only you know when you are ready to make it. Like my doctor and his staff told me, everyone is scared and if you weren't there would be something wrong with you. It's okay to be afraid. I was really, really scared and even tried to back out a couple of times. I just had my sleeve done on 08/01 and I'm so glad i went through with it. It was hard and I did experience some difficulties but it is getting better every day. You can do this and you have all of us to support you!

Love, Light, & Happiness to all... Kelley

Thanks for the invite to share. I will be starting my pre op program the end of this month for Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. I have to admit that I am scared. Seems as though everyone handles this differently. I have made up my mind to do it after a lifetime of dieting. A few times I've lost the weight, but have never been able to keep it off. The yo yo dieting has caused some problems and I'm told the only thing that will help is to lose weight. I have seriously tried by eating healthier and walking. So far, that has not helped my weight. I am at 230, the highest my weight has ever been including pregnancies. I just hope and pray this works for me. I am not looking at it as an easy out because I know that is not true. Just knowing there is support like this really helps. Thanks for sharing your tips here.

Sincerely

Hi all,

I'm not sure how active this group is but I'm going to jump in anyway. I had the lap band in 2008. I had all kinds of difficulties, not with the band, but other illnesses and injuries and ended up losing my job and insurance in 2010. I was not able to see a doctor until this past Monday 7/2/12. So no fill since 2010 and have regained all my weight. I am scheduled for endoscopy on 7/11/12 to make sure everything is okay. But I did receive a fill and am losing weight again. I have been struggling a long time.

I had RNY on 12/5/11. My only physical problem afterwards is that I apparently have a very tiny esophagus. That cost me an extra day in the hospital because I couldn't drink enough water. I did great for a month after surgery and lost 20 pounds. Almost exactly 4 weeks after surgery everything started to hurt once it was in my pouch and most things made me nauseous. I wasted a week trying different foods to see what was causing me problems. When it got to the point that water was gagging me I went to the ER and had an endoscopy. I had a stricture where my lower pouch is attached to my intestines. The doctor stretched that and sent me home. It was 3 days before I was able to fluids down. My RNY surgeon wasn't happy with me; demanding that I not leave her office till I drank 2 cups of water! An impossibility at the time. However 2 weeks later I'm back on track and have lost another 10 lbs.

I'm better able to handle my diet now with very little bothering me now. With the additional weight loss I'm better able to continue my exercise regimen. My spirits are back up now that I can eat again! I see my RNY surgeon again in 2 weeks. Hopefully this time she won't try to hold me hostage in the office to "force feed" me again. :P
