After reading your goal and your comments about the ice, I wondered what you do on days when there is a lot of snow or ice in your area. I prefer to walk outside, so I know there will always be days that I have to compromise. This year I plan on getting ice cleats so I can continue walking, but I know when it is too cold I will have to go to the gym.
I'm aiming for a little less than 2400 miles for the year - walking and running - as measured by my trusty fitbit. A little behind for January, but catching up, and it gets easier for me once the streets aren't so icy.
My goal for 2014 is 1500 miles. I did 1437 miles in 2013 so I am up for a little challenge! Plus, if you do the conversion in km, it is 2414 km - that is a good number for 2014! In my case that is counting my training only... not the distance that I track with fitbit! I love my fitbit - it is a great way to motivate me to move outside of my training... My main goal is to average 5k or 3.1 miles per day. I believe that is 1825k or 1132 miles. That will be all running. Any walking or bike will be extra. All together I'm working myself across the US. Current stats - just over 20 miles.
