emoticon There is much beauty here to be seen (I live in Oregon) and I need to get on my boots, slap on my backpack and go OFTEN!

I usually don't make new year's resolutions but I am this year:

1. Walk every single day (no matter what) make no excuses * I feel so much better when I walk in so many different ways.
2. Drink water! Drink Drink Drink
3. Take better care of myself e.g. go to the doctor, dentist, pay attention to how I'm feeling.

Age 50! Now is the time to make your mark on the world-explore the Antarctic or become an astronaut. Make your mind up to take on exciting new challenges-straight after your afternoon nap. - Unknown

I did it! Yesterday at lunch, I ran 6.9 hilly miles with my office mate, which brought me to 10003.5 miles for the year! Nice to hit my goal, it has been a bit of a roller coaster year so far.

I made it just in time too. This weekend we are heading out to ski through the New Years holiday. It is hard to fit miles in before or after skiing, the legs just don't want to do it. Plus, I want to be able to relax with the family après ski, not hit the road or dreadmill.

I say skiing, but I really mean snowboarding. The rest of the family skis. I just got a new board and bindings and am excited about riding the new set up. Take care, finish 2013 strong everyone!

I am back on track after an Achilles injury in May set me back. I am trying to hit 1,000 miles this year and am at 736 as of 21 Sep. 264 to go, about 20 per week or so. I am trying to fit in 20+ to give myself a little buffer at the end.

While it has been a good goal to work on, I don't know if I will try this goal again any time soon. I still enjoy the running and the miles, but sometimes it is feeling like an obligation. On the other hand, if it gets me away from my desk or out the door on a Saturday morning to run inseatd of sitting around on my behind, then it is a good thing. After this year and goal, I want to continue the same fitness minutes, maybe work in more swimming and biking.

I'm going to try for 1,000 miles this year, also. I have all my miles logged in to my training peaks account which came with my Timex Ironman GPS watch. I am a little light on mileage to date because I took a couple of road trips and did not run as much as when I'm home. But, I'm putting in a lot of miles currently. Should be okay for 1000 mile this year.

Hi my name is Pam. And I just joined this team. I am wondering if I can join this challenge. I am swimming for exercise right now because I have an foot injury that is keeping me from other exercise. If I do 35 lengths of the pool at the Y. 5 days a week it wil put me at 2.5 mile per week. So I am going to Make my goal for this half of the year 60 miles. I hope I can stay focused for that long. my daughter gets married in April next year and I would love to be 50 lbs thinner for the wedding.

My 2013 goal is to run 1,000 miles.

All I have to do is average 20+ per week. Through 26 Feb, I am at 180 miles, and averaging 22 miles per week.

I prefer to run outside, but do get driven inside onto the dreadmill sometimes. (between very icy conditions, extremely bad weather and a nasty cold that took 3 weeks to shake, my first 40 miles in February were all on the treadmill).

I too fell short of my goal of 2012 miles, so I too am aiming for the 2013 and with the luck there will be no injuries to slow me down.
Good luck all

I almost hit the 2012 mile goal for 2012. So my goal for 2013 is 2013 miles.

I plan to run at least 1000 of those miles, and the rest will be a combination of walking, hiking, biking, and strength training. Perhaps with a bit of elliptical and a few other things thrown in.

I'm excited to hear everyone's goals for this year. Allons-y.

My Distance goal for 2013 is to cover more than 2000 km or 1240 miles...

Note: I tracked my distance for the last 2 years with the Mileage Tracking on the SparkPeople Fitness Tracker compiling running - cycling - walking and elliptical...
2011 - 1965km
2012 - 2025km... So I know my goal is realistic - I would like to go a little further this year! will see how it goes!

Thanks Ruth for sharing your goal! Looking forward to GO the DISTANCE!...

Hi Team Members!!!

Let's share here your personal distance goal for 2013!

Note: All distance are welcome - this team goal is your own but sharing helps being accountable... and cheering each other to keep pushing at your own pace!

Just post what distance you are aiming to cover (in km or miles - your preference!)... and the way you intent to do it (i.e. running, walking, cycling, swimming, skating, elliptical... ).

Let's go Team - emoticon

I was glad to hear from Julia that she is going to be taking up the leadership role so that this group can continue. I am about 150 miles from reaching Denver if I count the grand total since starting Spark. I want to walk 400 miles this year. I thought it was really motivating to check out places that I could have walked to along the way. So once I reach Denver, I will choose another goal.

I love the Go the Distance theme.
