My goal was 201.2 miles each quarter for a total of 804.8.
I did 759.6 miles. I missed my goal (in the HOT 3rd quarter) by 45.2 miles.

I still feel pretty good about it!
This year I'd like to break 1000. Marathon training may just do it!

This is my 2nd week ~ I've logged over 142 miles so far. I can't believe how motivating this challenge is! I love it! I never realized that making a commitment like this would push me and motivate me the way it has . . . I'm so glad I found this challenge.

Hi Team, I just signed up this past weekend. I know I won't be able to get in 2012 miles before the end of the year since the year is halfway over, but my goal is to do 1006 miles. So far this week, I have just under 35 miles - not too shabby considering I just started working out again this weekend after a long time away. Will keep working towards my goal!

Quarter 2 Completed early thanks to 3 Half Marathons...
The 3rd quarter is going to be a challenge since it's summer but I will rock it!
208.0 miles and I still have 6 days left...willl definitely get some miles in before the end of the 2nd quarter.

Let's do this!

Hi Everyone!
I love the idea of this...I did something like this last year with some buddies on Facebook...we tried to do 2011 miles in 2011. We had 3 different teams of 2 people each...you could run, walk, cycle or elliptical. I think I ended up personally doing 820 miles (took several months off)
:( My team ended up a close second place!

Anyway, since we're already into the second quarter, I better get my butt in gear!! I'll have to look at my written journal for this year so far and start logging in what I've done so far...every quarter mile counts!

Good luck to everyone...this should be a lot of fun! HINT: I've found that watching shows online that you missed online or from your DVR really, really helps make the time fly by faster!!

I love this idea of 2012 miles in 2012! Found it two weeks ago and got my mileage up by cycling 243 miles one week for fun/travel and exercise and somehow I'm currently caught up now! Should be at 539 miles yesterday and I'm at 540! Woot! Plus I have to cycle to a work placement, 38 miles everyday for 2 weeks starting tomorrow. There are plenty of hills to get from Midlothian to South Lanarkshire so it should be an interesting commute!! :)

First quarter COMPLETE...I did EXACTLY 201.2 miles....
Started the second quarter off strong with a half marathon on April 1st!!!!

I think it is awesome!! I am going to strive for the 2012 but will do as much as I can if I don't make it...I will at least have over 201.2 miles. I have done over 120 miles in one months so I know I can do this...just got to get busy!!! ;-)

I am so excited to have so many of you aboard for the 2012 miles challenge. I did not think it would take off so much and I am impressed with the support and the involvement we already have!

I have received a lot of feedback about the number of miles — and I know a lot of people are not up for 2012 miles for lots of reasons: being a beginner, time constraints, other commitments, etc.

I want to remind everyone that this is a personal challenge; no one is going to be tracking you all year or requiring your log at the end of the year to “prove” your mileage.

I also want to remind you that the miles can be logged in any way you choose. One participant is looking to find a way to convert capoeira time into mileage. Anything counts!

That being said - 2012 miles is A LOT. I know that. It’s my personal goal. Some people have chosen to join me in 2012 miles. But that’s not a goal for everyone.

In the interest of inclusivity and at the request of a participant on Facebook, I am adding a 201.2 miles challenge category. If you are a beginner, or not ready to do 2012 miles, please consider 201.2 miles for your goal. This will also earn you a medal at the end of the year!

I hope that this helps more people to get involved and be excited about the new year!
