The annual retreat did a number on my weight again. Hoping most of it is from the sodium in the sausage and chips that were the lunch on Saturday. I lost 4# over night last night, so I know some of it was sodium related. Hoping to lose 2 to 3 more by Thursday's weigh in to finish the challenge with a loss.

Well I guess all that traveling did me in last week..... I ended up gaining a 1/2 pound ! Of course I couldn't drink all my water either so Its been a bit of work to get back to my water drinking also !!
I had a dr's follow up visit on Wednesday and I have one more follow up apt at the end of sept and hopefully I am finally done with all my dr's visits. Between mammogram, pap smear, yearly and then the colonoscopy it feels like I have LIVED there ! This gettin old thing is pretty rough !!

The ark was very HOT with a one and half hour wait to even get in !! I don't recommend going on a SAT. it was ACTUALLY wall to wall people and could not even see things very well. The creation museum is only an hour or so away and we went there years ago and REALLY enjoyed it a lot. They are talking about building the tower of Babel next to ark so there's good reason to wait or combine all three later !

hope your week is going well

Wish I could join you. My niece took her kids to see the ark awhile back, sounds like fun.

Well the girls at work didn't pay for all the snacks they took from the snack box so the boss said get rid of it. So now my snacks are calorie controlled - by me.

ANNA - I think you did ASTOUNDINGLY well !! WTG !! You ate small servings and let yourself have the thing you wanted most....... so WELL DONE !! NO ONE does perfectly all the time ... you tried hard to cut back and handled a hard situation as well as you could and you DID eat less than you wanted or COULD have so BRAVO !! we all have to do the best we can and you tried and you did ! That's all we can ask of ourselves ... ya know ? Perfectionism will kill your efforts ... pat yourself on the back for handling it different than you would have in the past so that's a step forward !! you ARE doing it .... changing a little at a time ....baby steps !

I have been doing better with food but still need to get my exercise program back on track.... my knee is still trouble and we leave for vacation the end of august so I know that will be tough to get back on track after a week off but my goal is 5 more pounds before then if I can ????

BTW just wanted to share with you my newest discovery that I love ....... I found it at Walmart.... its called Lenny & Larry's the complete cookie ! I love them ..... they are huge and one cookie is 2 servings . I eat the chocolate chip one in place of a shake and they are SOOOOOO filling. They are sort of dry and I drink 2 cups of water with each one. I treat them like a protein bar and only eat them once a day. sometimes a half one or a whole if I'm gonna replace a meal . They have per serving (1/2 cookie) 180 calorie, 4 g of fiber, 6 g of fat, 8 gof protein, no dairy, no eggs, no GMO, no high fructose corn syrup, no cholesterol, no artificial sweetners, no sugar alcohols

our Church group is planning a day long trip this weekend to visit the ark and I'm pretty excited about it so I'll be on the road one whole long day and it 'll be rough eating !!

Went to a family reunion over the weekend. Don't usually get to because it's usually on Sunday. Of course I ate too much even though I limited almost everything to about 2 tablespoons per serving. But there were chocolate cupcakes... Portion control.... I had 2. I did have lots of the fresh fruit and only 4 corn chips.

Thanks anna

Yes so far everything is good. I am still waiting to hear back from biopsies ! My tummy was very sensitive for days and I ate very carefully and still only lost 1 pound so I guess it does come back VERY quickly !! my scales at home are terrible so I NEVER weigh on those ! I only weigh once a week at a TOPS meeting .

I am doing better with my diet but still tend to drop off on weekends with the DH who always wants to go out to eat. If I could keep it together all week I could have a loss I'm sure . I am not exercising due to my knee and I think that is hurting me and now we have been under a heat advisory for over a week with humidity THAT IS UNBEARABLE ! It takes your breath away to walk out the door !

I've been working on redoing a guest room so we can use it when the girls come...... it was a bonafide storage room basically !! NOW where to find to put the stuff I took out of there ?????? hm ??????? more shuffling of the closets .......hehehehehe !!

have a great weekend and an on program week !!

I had my colonoscopy in June and the minimal weight I lost during the prep was back in less than 48 hours. Of course we went out for Chinese food for lunch after the test. All that MSG.
Praying things go well for you.

for me the answer to beat cravings is ALWAYS more protein ! I added a handful of nuts 3 days last week and used some protein powder and was REALLY in the game mentally more than I have been in a long time and I tracked all my food but still managed to gain a 1/2 pd so I am really pretty bummed !! Now that's messing with my mojo and then I have to drink fluids and not eat all day on sunday and I have a colonoscopy on MONDAY !
I've made up my jello and bought clear or white grape juice so I'll be prepared tomorrow !

That 's going to mess up my whole week I am afraid and then If I lose it will only come back the next week after I start eating !! its always something and I am not going to give up !

anna take you some healthy snacks or you'll be out numbered and overwhelmed !!

keep on keepin on

I'm thinking about getting a canister or two of it just for the reuseable canister. Then I'll be able to test it out again. I need something to jump start my weight loss again. I'm working in a store where the old manager had set up for someone to regularly bring in snacks in a cardboard box and they are expensive but too accessible. I need something to fill me up so I can ignore the snacks. I track them but they interfere with healthy filling foods.

hey anna you were right .... they were around 13 dollars for 12 servings and you still have to add milk so that's EVEN more expensive..... but for me the higher the protein the fuller I feel if I can stand the taste......???? I bought the skinny girl drinks and they were over a dollar a piece for 80 cals and 12 g of protein and the flavor was rich chocolate brownie..... I did NOT care for them ... they had a weird aftertaste.... a twang and I will not be buying again.

I order the UNJURY protein powder and it really fills me up but I keep trying to find something cheaper and at home or off the shelf and cannot find anything I like as well.

Walmart here now is carrying all the QUEST products .... i.e. bars, chips, and powders . they have lots of protein powders in cookies and cream flavors and so on.... I bought a cookies and cream protein bar and found it TOO ICKY sweet and did not care for it either ! They had a single size protein (QUEST) potato chip bag for 2 and 1/2 dollars but I did not buy it .
There was I think 21 g of protein in the single serving of chips.

gotta run and wash some laundry
I am drinking all my water and going to restroom a lot

At our local stores the higher protein powder sells for about $13 for a canister that only does 12 shakes while the regular powder is $7 for enough to make 14 shakes. Checking my favorites I must have tried it when it first came out or when I first noticed it because I entered the info myself. I don't remember if they were any more filling than the regular or not. I may try it again.

sorry anna ..... Just to clarify.... these are not the shakes this is the slimfast protein powder !! You mix it with milk to get a total of 20 g of protein . You have to use a measure scoop . I am going to look at price again and divide by portions to see about price ???

I think my internet service may be fixed ???? its been off all week and driving me nuts !!

This weekend was a tough one. Fifteen or more hours on the road with all the stay awake snacks required for evening driving.
Lots of stress. No chance to try my new idea. Will do it next week.

I have seen the higher protein slim fast shakes, but they are a lot more expensive at our store than the regular ones. I think I tried them once, not sure. Will probably have to try them again.
I feel your pain with the heat. Its was terrible here this weekend between the heat and humidity and we had to drive in it with no a/c, except what my driver's ed teacher would have called 255 or 270 a/c.
Well it's getting late and I need to get some sleep.
Have a great week.

hey anna you can do it .... next week you'll try it out !

I am still struggling this week was not a good one.... my mom's air conditioner died and they all came and stayed with me till it was fixed..... those kids like to eat some junk ... it doesn't help very much ! Its turned VERY hot here and the humidity is suffocating !

On another note.... has anyone tried the slimfast protein powder that is 20 g of protein when added to milk ? ITs in a large container that you use a scoop ? I may have to try that out ... it was at Walmart and also they have some skinny girl protein drinks that are only 80 calories with 12 g protein.
Just thought I'd share

Trying so hard to stay on plan. 3 trips to Wendy's yesterday didn't help at all.
Lunch, cool off between services, then dinner.
I have an idea on how to bring down calories on Sundays but yesterday would still have been a killer, even if I had tried the idea. (came up with the idea at dinner) We'll see how it works next week or the week after.

I've changed my fluids goal to 9 -8 ounce glasses per day. Which is great considering when I started this journey I was normally getting about 5 to 6 a day. Of course I count ALL fluids even milk and sweetened beverages. My doctor just says fluids not water. I figure tea is water with about 1 teaspoon of extras in it the same with most other fluids. But I do add lots of ice to most everything including my shakes/smoothies.
I stocked up on dinners today.
A local store has my favorites on sale 88 cents each. I was only planning on getting 4 or 5 days worth but decided to stock up. Store brand frozen veggies were 88 cents a bag as well.
Have a great day.

WOW anna you did great on the fluids and with the Chinese cravings !! Sometimes you JUST have to eat a little of it to get over the cravings and sounds like you did an awesome job

emoticon

now you can drink lots of water to flush the MSG out of your system !! Not like you haven't had practice drinking fluids lately !! HA HA !!

I hope to get myself back into the simple diet this week !! I have simply been doing half a day and never completing it so this is the week !! wish me luck !

I got in 181 ounces and thankfully that was enough. My test went well and I don't have to repeat it for 5 years.

Off plan majorly yesterday and today, but at least I did it in small doses. I was craving Chinese food during my prep so we went to my favorite restaurant after the test and got a 3 entree dinner each. I only ate part of it on Friday and some more today, but forgot the rest of it at mom's so I only ended up eating about 2/3 of it. But no veggies or fruits. :(

Glad you finished vbs. I know how tough it can be with all those snacks for the hungry little kiddies every day.

Have to be totally off plan today. Prepping for a test. Yay. Already have 32 ounces of fluids and it's not even eleven yet. The goal for today is 192 ounces. Can I do it? Maybe. But I really don't like Gatorade. Oh well it's only for one day.
Hope everyone's day is better than mine.
Actually mine shouldn't be too bad. I've done a 30 hour famine or two with our youth group and this isn't much different until dinner time tonight.
Have a great day.

Great Job anna !! That vitamin D is so important as we get older

Welcome emoticon Candace !! How's your week going ?? Have you found any great meals that you love so far ??? One of my favorites is a Stouffer's Baked chicken breast with gravy and mashed potatoes !! Its has 210 calories 6 fat g and 21 protein g !! I usually add green beans or a tossed salad for a filling meal !

I walked this AM and then baked brownies and and cooked a large sugar cookie for the base of a fruit pizza !! The smell is wonderful in my kitchen. VBS is under full swing and we are feeding everyone the hour before it begins this year and that has been a great help to the young parents to get the kids here and ready ! I doubt I hold off a weight gain this week. I have saved up some recipes from pinterest that I want to try out for this week.... only thing we cook to bring is desserts. We served hot dogs last night, pizza tonight , sub sandwiches on Tues and finish up with a fish fry on WED !!

at least I 'm trying to eat better on the first half of day

keep on keepin on

Welcome again.
I went for a walk this evening after we got home from our evening service. Spark said I was within my calorie range, but FitBit said I sat around too much and was almost 200 calories over my range. So I walked for about 25 minutes and reached my step goal for the day. :) I also got my natural vitamin D. The sun was shining through the trees. It felt good to walk outside again.
Have a great week. :)

I bought a few dinners to help stay on track. I have been lax about the actual food even though I have been tracking most everything, not enough freggies and protein. Dinners help keep numbers where they need to be for me especially when I add frozen veggies to them before popping in the microwave.

I have a test next Friday and will weigh a lot less for a day or two.. :/ Too bad it's not permanent. That would be a good start to the new challenge.

Have a great day.

Yes I am still struggling and I did the diet for a couple of days and fell off but I got right back on so I am sticking with it till I get it 100 % !! I did not fall off all at once and it will take some trying to get back on very good. It doesn't help that my TOPS group is gone and I don't have to weigh in this week but I am going to try to act like I have to !!

My cough is almost gone now !! YIPEE !! The girls are thriving and doing well with a routine and learning that we are going to do WHAT WE SAY !! They LOVE church and all the kids and have made friends. Their mother has still NOT complied with a single thing the court has mandated she must do. I wonder if she really wants them back ??? or is tired of being a mommy. She's had a 5month break now, if she started today and tried she could get them back in 9mos IF and that's a big IF .... she actually tried. so I think it will be over a year from now or more.

I hope the cards and incentives sell and you do well ANNA !! I know you'd be good at the assistant position ! I'm so glad that you are sticking it with it and trying to break that PLATEAU ! they are TOUGH !! YOu can do it .... keep saying to yourself ... I CAN do this ,,, I know I can do this.... I will do this !! positive things only !!

Hope everyone has a wonderful memorial day weekend !! emoticon emoticon emoticon

How are things down your way? How are the girls doing? Have they adjusted well? Is everyone getting over the bugs going around ok?

The manager left yesterday for 2 weeks. I am babysitting a plant for her as well as being in charge of the new store. We are having a contest to try to keep our numbers from dropping while she is gone. We will be giving out gift cards to Starbucks, McDonald's, Wendy's and Subway. I have been told if I can sell 3 of our computer apps while she is gone/ or within the next month or so I will be officially given the assistant position with a raise. The problem with that is most people don't want to pay for something that they can get for free on the internet by doing a bit of searching on their own. Of course the money they are paying ($5 per month) goes to a bunch of charities but that still doesn't make it any easier to get them to buy something they can get for free.

I hope you do well on your new start. I do well for a few days then have way too much sodium or eat above my goal and gain a pound or two. It's a vicious cycle. At least I am still below my plateau weight most days. Now to break the 190 barrier. I've been aiming for that for over a year now. I thought I was going to break it a couple weeks ago (192 for 2 days) but life and DH seem to get in the way sometimes. Even though he wants me to be healthy and happy with my weight he still tries to sabotage with popcorn, icecream, doughnuts and Wendy's all the time. It doesn't help that both girls are working there and we get half price or free food most of the time and free internet. If only their salads weren't so high in sodium.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Anna

A lot of people around here have had a hard time getting rid of whatever it was that went around this winter/spring. DH's boss's wife ended up with pneumonia from it. We only had the short version around here do far. DD1 is fighting it right now. She seems to be getting better other than the fact that she is sleeping 12 hours at a time. Hope you get better soon.

DD2 found out she has asthma yesterday. Appears to be exercise induced and still not bad at that but now she has an inhaler to use before exercise (track meets and practice) and she should be able to run better. Hoping for a PR at tomorrow's race.

Never did make the baklava. Still have most of the ingredients so I will probably make it After dd2 comes home for the summer. Her BFs mom suggested I make it for a little get together after the kids make it home after exams. The only thing is dd2 doesn't like most nuts. I guess I'll have to buy some cashews and make some just for her.
Got what could be good news at work today. A manager at a nearby store quit and I may be transferred there to help out as an assistant manager. It would be more hours and possibly a small raise as well. My boss will still be my boss which is the best part of it. The worst part is I would have an equal position with a 20 year old that I helped train one month after I started working for the company.

Same here. I'm finally getting some energy. I need it about now. We are having a big dinner at church and I have to fix about half of the food, or at least it seems that way. Tomorrow is shopping, home made yogurt and milk pie. Saturday is tzatziki, halva and baklava. Sunday is cheese pie and Greek salad. DH is skewering the meat ( 10-15# of pork loin cubes on about 75-80 bamboo sticks) on Saturday and cooking it Sunday. DD1 usually helps with the cheese pie and baklava. I dread next week's weigh in. But I usually only make most of this once a year.

DD1 went to the dollar store yesterday and bought 14 small bags of frozen fruit! I'm set for about 1.5 to 2 weeks for my smoothies.
DH picked up 2 more cans of shake mix after work yesterday too. They must really want me to do well on this diet!
I wish they were this way more often.

Well Anna that is the kind of thing that drives me nuts !! trying to figure out which one is the accurate one ??? Technology has left me in the dust.....I struggle with all the features my phone has !! At least you are moving and trying so emoticon

this week is school's spring break so the girls will be home full time and we are trying to plan some fun activities ! The annual fair is town with rides and all the FATTENING carnival food ! My niece that lives so far away is coming for a visit also so this will be a CRAZY filled week I am sure ! The trees are finally beginning to bud out and have leaves and spring is beautiful !

On a sad note the girls mother checked into a six month rehab program mandated to her and left after only 10 days and refuses to do what court has required of her.

Happy Spring y'all !! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Bought a fitbit used on eBay. It came yesterday. The band is a bit stiff and uncomfortable when I twist my wrist but it gives a much different step count than my phone pedometer. I guess I need to go out on a track and check them side by side. I just don't usually have the phone with me 24/7. Last weekend made me question the phone's accuracy. I really have to get in more steps and track them accurately.

I need a new pedometer, the one on my phone seems way off. Walking through the local zoo with church kids my phone pedometer said I walked about 3/4 of a mile while DD1's said that we walked over 2 miles. We walked together. Any thoughts on a good yet inexpensive to moderately priced one?

Got a bunch of fabric today. Will start working on quilts in the next couple of days.
DH has been bugging me to work on one for him for years. He picked out the pattern/design. I bought most of the fabric but couldn't find just the right one for a "path" and for "gardens". I found a really good one for the path recently and ordered it. I will keep looking for a few more garden-ish ones but I think I can start on it now.

Our girls used to bring home head lice almost every year until we changed schools then never had a problem again until my niece came for a visit. Our oldest has such thick hair it took up to 8 hours to go through her hair just once, and I usually tried to check each girl twice a day until they were gone. The laundry was terrible too. I feel for you with all that going on. Wish there was something I could do to help.
Praying you have the strength to make it through to the other side.

OH boy ... my well laid plans got thrown out the window.... My mom got pneumonia,,, one of the girls got flu,, another girl got strep throat and the other brought home scabies !! This has been a nightmare for over a month now and it NEVER seems to let up ! They say you catch these at school or anywhere.... what a nightmare ... a lot like lice and you have to wash all towels, bed linens and clothes and treat and then retreat in one week !!

Hope everyone is doing alright

I was really doing well last week down almost to the 180s and had a bad night of heartburn and ate a whole box of girl scout cookies ( thin mint)trying to help. Gained 4#. The doctor seems to think it is water but who knows, maybe he is right and it will be gone in a few more days.
Trying to stick closer to the plan and tracking everything.

I'll get my TSD shopping done over the weekend and get back at it.

Getting ready for a new sewing project. We need some sound absorbers at church ( one of the ladies is extremely affected by sound and light - migraines, she wears sunglasses almost all the time and we rarely use lights in the sanctuary any more) and I have seen quilts on the wall at a local church years ago. The were like banners on steroids. I have already found several patterns to adapt and have about 100 ideas to incorporate. DH gave me the go ahead, so now to decide which will be first. Planning at least 6 to 8 to go on the walls between the windows. Hoping they help absorb enough sound so that she can enjoy the music.

Bought too many GS cookies. We always try to support all the neighborhood kids when they come around selling things or asking for donations for school stuff. Well we have gotten 8 boxes so far this year and will probably get one or 2 more before they are all gone. I am putting most of mine in the freezer and will take them out one sleeve at a time and share with whoever's around. DH has already gone through 2 of his 4-5 boxes, we shared one of mine tonight, but I think he thought they were his because he put them in the drawer next to his side of the bed for midnight snacking. I had 5 cookies, which is a serving. Not my favorite so I think 1 serving will do for me. I stayed within my calorie range even if I did go off plan.
Have a great week everyone.

Hello,

Hi Gayle! Glad you're joining us! Have you followed TSD in the past?

I have been dragging and unfocused, not completely terrible but not on plan. I have been getting to Curves three times a week and working out hard there plus taking a few long weeks each week.

I know this plan works the best for me, when I WORK IT!

Who else is signed up for The Biggest Loser Spring Challenge? I am. I really hope to get my butt in gear like I did before the holidays. emoticon

Hang in there friends, Joan

Snow today. DD got a text msg from school all classes after 230 cancelled. DH decided if college was cancelling classes we should cancel church so it will be a lazy night around here.( no running around picking kids up and dropping DD off for class- she can't drive today ) Going to get some housework done and try to workout on the elliptical.

Hi, you sweet things! Think I am going to try to come by and chat . You all sound so grounded. Also think I need to get back on TSD. Wish there was more posted on the Website, but everything is old. Still have the book nearby.
Peace,
Gayle

The funeral went better than expected. DH told a lot of funny stories about his uncle and he sang and we had a good night away from home. The motel even though it was quite inexpensive was clean and well maintained.
I gained. Hopefully most of it was fluid retention. Tonight the scales are close to what they were before we left.
I have a doctor's appointment in 2 weeks. I can't wait to see what all my hard work has done to my numbers. I know my weight should be down at least 5#. Hoping everything else is better as well.
Have a great weekend.

Found a new walking website that has an app for tracking your steps. It's called World Walking. You do a virtual walk around a specific city or from one famous place to another. I'm walking around eastern Europe, complete with pictures and info about all the stops along the way. I also started walking to the summer Olympics from Australia. Won't get there in time unless someone (several) joins my team "SparkPeople Walking" and adds their steps to the walk to help me get there faster. Hoping this will help with the motivation to walk more. I've tried it before with a map of Michigan trying to get from the state capital to the U.P. but didn't get too far. Hoping the reward of pics and info along the way will help. Just wish they had Greece as one of the walks. They just do a flying stop in Athens on a couple of the available walks.
Have a great Fat Tuesday and don't go too overboard on the Paczkis.

It is flying faster than usual.
I've been eating lots more fruit and veggies this week, but I ran out of shake mix Sunday and couldn't get more until after work today. I hope tomorrow's weigh in goes well for all.

If your friend wants to make a dessert a Pavlova would be something that could be close to the diet but still a real treat. Just go light on the whipped cream and heavy on the fruit.
I frequently make it for church dinners. I found it in a Richard Simmons cookbook. I know it's not TSD but it is low calorie, high fruit, pure enjoyment.
