Never did make the baklava. Still have most of the ingredients so I will probably make it After dd2 comes home for the summer. Her BFs mom suggested I make it for a little get together after the kids make it home after exams. The only thing is dd2 doesn't like most nuts. I guess I'll have to buy some cashews and make some just for her.
Got what could be good news at work today. A manager at a nearby store quit and I may be transferred there to help out as an assistant manager. It would be more hours and possibly a small raise as well. My boss will still be my boss which is the best part of it. The worst part is I would have an equal position with a 20 year old that I helped train one month after I started working for the company.

Same here. I'm finally getting some energy. I need it about now. We are having a big dinner at church and I have to fix about half of the food, or at least it seems that way. Tomorrow is shopping, home made yogurt and milk pie. Saturday is tzatziki, halva and baklava. Sunday is cheese pie and Greek salad. DH is skewering the meat ( 10-15# of pork loin cubes on about 75-80 bamboo sticks) on Saturday and cooking it Sunday. DD1 usually helps with the cheese pie and baklava. I dread next week's weigh in. But I usually only make most of this once a year.

DD1 went to the dollar store yesterday and bought 14 small bags of frozen fruit! I'm set for about 1.5 to 2 weeks for my smoothies.
DH picked up 2 more cans of shake mix after work yesterday too. They must really want me to do well on this diet!
I wish they were this way more often.

Well Anna that is the kind of thing that drives me nuts !! trying to figure out which one is the accurate one ??? Technology has left me in the dust.....I struggle with all the features my phone has !! At least you are moving and trying so emoticon

this week is school's spring break so the girls will be home full time and we are trying to plan some fun activities ! The annual fair is town with rides and all the FATTENING carnival food ! My niece that lives so far away is coming for a visit also so this will be a CRAZY filled week I am sure ! The trees are finally beginning to bud out and have leaves and spring is beautiful !

On a sad note the girls mother checked into a six month rehab program mandated to her and left after only 10 days and refuses to do what court has required of her.

Happy Spring y'all !! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Bought a fitbit used on eBay. It came yesterday. The band is a bit stiff and uncomfortable when I twist my wrist but it gives a much different step count than my phone pedometer. I guess I need to go out on a track and check them side by side. I just don't usually have the phone with me 24/7. Last weekend made me question the phone's accuracy. I really have to get in more steps and track them accurately.

I need a new pedometer, the one on my phone seems way off. Walking through the local zoo with church kids my phone pedometer said I walked about 3/4 of a mile while DD1's said that we walked over 2 miles. We walked together. Any thoughts on a good yet inexpensive to moderately priced one?

Got a bunch of fabric today. Will start working on quilts in the next couple of days.
DH has been bugging me to work on one for him for years. He picked out the pattern/design. I bought most of the fabric but couldn't find just the right one for a "path" and for "gardens". I found a really good one for the path recently and ordered it. I will keep looking for a few more garden-ish ones but I think I can start on it now.

Our girls used to bring home head lice almost every year until we changed schools then never had a problem again until my niece came for a visit. Our oldest has such thick hair it took up to 8 hours to go through her hair just once, and I usually tried to check each girl twice a day until they were gone. The laundry was terrible too. I feel for you with all that going on. Wish there was something I could do to help.
Praying you have the strength to make it through to the other side.

OH boy ... my well laid plans got thrown out the window.... My mom got pneumonia,,, one of the girls got flu,, another girl got strep throat and the other brought home scabies !! This has been a nightmare for over a month now and it NEVER seems to let up ! They say you catch these at school or anywhere.... what a nightmare ... a lot like lice and you have to wash all towels, bed linens and clothes and treat and then retreat in one week !!

Hope everyone is doing alright

I was really doing well last week down almost to the 180s and had a bad night of heartburn and ate a whole box of girl scout cookies ( thin mint)trying to help. Gained 4#. The doctor seems to think it is water but who knows, maybe he is right and it will be gone in a few more days.
Trying to stick closer to the plan and tracking everything.

Getting ready for a new sewing project. We need some sound absorbers at church ( one of the ladies is extremely affected by sound and light - migraines, she wears sunglasses almost all the time and we rarely use lights in the sanctuary any more) and I have seen quilts on the wall at a local church years ago. The were like banners on steroids. I have already found several patterns to adapt and have about 100 ideas to incorporate. DH gave me the go ahead, so now to decide which will be first. Planning at least 6 to 8 to go on the walls between the windows. Hoping they help absorb enough sound so that she can enjoy the music.

Bought too many GS cookies. We always try to support all the neighborhood kids when they come around selling things or asking for donations for school stuff. Well we have gotten 8 boxes so far this year and will probably get one or 2 more before they are all gone. I am putting most of mine in the freezer and will take them out one sleeve at a time and share with whoever's around. DH has already gone through 2 of his 4-5 boxes, we shared one of mine tonight, but I think he thought they were his because he put them in the drawer next to his side of the bed for midnight snacking. I had 5 cookies, which is a serving. Not my favorite so I think 1 serving will do for me. I stayed within my calorie range even if I did go off plan.
Have a great week everyone.

Hello,

Hi Gayle! Glad you're joining us! Have you followed TSD in the past?

I have been dragging and unfocused, not completely terrible but not on plan. I have been getting to Curves three times a week and working out hard there plus taking a few long weeks each week.

I know this plan works the best for me, when I WORK IT!

Who else is signed up for The Biggest Loser Spring Challenge? I am. I really hope to get my butt in gear like I did before the holidays. emoticon

Hang in there friends, Joan

Snow today. DD got a text msg from school all classes after 230 cancelled. DH decided if college was cancelling classes we should cancel church so it will be a lazy night around here.( no running around picking kids up and dropping DD off for class- she can't drive today ) Going to get some housework done and try to workout on the elliptical.

Hi, you sweet things! Think I am going to try to come by and chat . You all sound so grounded. Also think I need to get back on TSD. Wish there was more posted on the Website, but everything is old. Still have the book nearby.
Peace,
Gayle

The funeral went better than expected. DH told a lot of funny stories about his uncle and he sang and we had a good night away from home. The motel even though it was quite inexpensive was clean and well maintained.
I gained. Hopefully most of it was fluid retention. Tonight the scales are close to what they were before we left.
I have a doctor's appointment in 2 weeks. I can't wait to see what all my hard work has done to my numbers. I know my weight should be down at least 5#. Hoping everything else is better as well.
Have a great weekend.

Found a new walking website that has an app for tracking your steps. It's called World Walking. You do a virtual walk around a specific city or from one famous place to another. I'm walking around eastern Europe, complete with pictures and info about all the stops along the way. I also started walking to the summer Olympics from Australia. Won't get there in time unless someone (several) joins my team "SparkPeople Walking" and adds their steps to the walk to help me get there faster. Hoping this will help with the motivation to walk more. I've tried it before with a map of Michigan trying to get from the state capital to the U.P. but didn't get too far. Hoping the reward of pics and info along the way will help. Just wish they had Greece as one of the walks. They just do a flying stop in Athens on a couple of the available walks.
Have a great Fat Tuesday and don't go too overboard on the Paczkis.

It is flying faster than usual.
I've been eating lots more fruit and veggies this week, but I ran out of shake mix Sunday and couldn't get more until after work today. I hope tomorrow's weigh in goes well for all.

If your friend wants to make a dessert a Pavlova would be something that could be close to the diet but still a real treat. Just go light on the whipped cream and heavy on the fruit.
I frequently make it for church dinners. I found it in a Richard Simmons cookbook. I know it's not TSD but it is low calorie, high fruit, pure enjoyment.

Anakie,

Thank you so much for the info! I need to be better about the fruits and veggies too (well, mostly just the veggies). I've been working on incorporating them into my shakes on my days off, but when I'm busy it's tough.

Been going through every shake this week trying to find one that doesn't taste like chemicals. Today I took straight whey powder and added 1 TBS of whey low and an orange. Tasty, but 200 calories, so a little higher than I'm aiming for (really trying to keep the shakes under 150) and doesn't have the vitamin content of something like Ensure.

I'm trying to hang on to my motivation right now. I lost 4 lbs this week, but I know most of that is water weight from 30 years of experience dieting, 5 lbs off and 8 lbs back on sort of yo-yo-ing. I've lost a fairly substantial amount of weight before (80 lbs, 60 lbs and 40 lbs), but it has gotten progressively more difficult as I get older and easier to burn out. My last "stint" I spent 10 months following a moderate 1200-1400 calorie diet and it took 10 months to lose 20 lbs. I gained it all back in 6 weeks because I was so frustrated and sick of "dieting".

I appreciate the ease of TSD so far though - I don't have to spend a bunch of time weighing and measuring everything, and grocery store trips are pretty quick since there is little to think about other than whether a food meets the criteria or not. Simple. Not snacking can be a challenge, but I just go ahead and have a shake or meal a little earlier than I planned and it seems to work - at least for now.

I really want to be successful this time. I don't want to go into my 50s obese. It is challenging though to find people to support your endeavors. Indeed, a good friend (who is unfortunately a chef) invited me over for lunch this weekend. I explained what I'm trying to do and would she mind making something that fit the criteria of one of my meals. She sort of agreed but then she was insisting on making a dessert, and couldn't understand why I wouldn't want to eat it. Bummed me out. I understand people being supportive and accepting you the way you are, but it would nice if they would be supportive and accept you if you want to change - especially if it is health related.

At any rate, I appreciate the opportunity to communicate with others working toward the same goals. Hope I didn't rant on too much!

The weather where I am is awesome in the winter - sunny and comfortable during the day (I do miss the snow though!). It is the summer that is awful - 110 and higher. It makes you not want to move lest you overheat.

Thanks again and hope everyone has a great weekend! emoticon

Welcome,
I have done quite well on TSD when I have been able to do it right. When life gets in the way and I don't get enough veggies and fruits no matter how much I exercise and watch what I eat, I seem to get stuck on a plateau. The lesson for me in this is fruits and veggies are essential to the diet's success for me. In the first year on TSD I lost about 1/4 of my total goal. Another year of loosely following it and I've only gotten to about 1/3 of my total weight loss goal. I need to buy lots more fruits and veggies regularly.

Weather around here is weird for winter. Predictions for snow and we get nothing but a bit of rain and now most of the snow we did have is gone. :( Frigid weather for 1 or 2 days and then warm up to the point of rain! Where is my snow? Where my family lives, about 3.5 hours north of us, they got over a foot, and we got nothing. Can't wait for DH to decide we are retiring and we can move up where winter is winter. Maybe I will get a pair of snow shoes and a snowmobile suit when we do retire so I can get in more winter exercise. I used to enjoy snow skiing when I was a teen. I never did learn how to stop without sitting down though and that would be a lot more dangerous now.

Have a great week everyone!

Anna

Hi! I just started the simple diet today. I've been tossing around the last few days what I was going to do, Optifast , Medifast, any sort of fast... Then I came across the simple diet. I figured, at the very least, it isn't something I've actually tried before. I love to hear how others are doing and any tips you might have along the way. Thanks! emoticon

well we got about 6 inches of snow but all those east of us received so much more !! I pray everyone is safe and warm and there are not many power outages !!
I have been locked inside for a couple of days and feel badly for my mom with no help and no school but only one day this last week. The girls have eaten her out of all the food and been fighting due to being locked in !! I think she's going stir crazy !! The smallest ( 2) has hit the TERRIBLE twos and being VERY stubborn and uncontrollable.
The sunshine is out today and it cheers me so.... gonna make a big pot of chili and stay in !!

How's everyone doing?
It has been COLD here. I've been staying inside as much as possible. Trying to get as much walking in as I can is hard in my little house with the weather not cooperating. At work is a different story, I walked about 3 miles yesterday while in the store. Also climbed a step ladder about 20 times putting videos on a shelf that is way over my head.
The scale has been good to me this week. :) I am seeing progress again.
Wishing you well on your next weigh in.

Welcome Mandy. :)

Christine- little ones are a lot of work, but can be so much fun. DH and I frequently offer to take little ones to give parents or grandparents a break. He takes all the little ones he can to home depot once a month for kids workshop. He has a blast with all of them. Then he takes them to Wendy's for lunch. Never helpful on his weight loss efforts but so much fun for all.
The weather has been COLD!
Just being outside for about 10 minutes helping load DD's car onto a dolly so we could take it to the repair shop made my fingers and toes hurt, and that was with 2 pair of socks on.
Have a great week everyone.

Oh Mandy that is wonderful and don't lose heart...... My body took about two or three weeks to realize I was serious on this diet and then BOOM ..... I lost more in less time than I ever had on ANY Diet and was satisfied more !! It does work !! I also eat more fresh veggies I try to eat at least one servings of raw veggies a day and always my fruit !! I even did this while going through menapause and older than before..... stick with it !!! I personally drink the equate (walmart) brand of chocolate shakes since they are cheaper !!

thanks ladies for hanging with me...... its been a challenging time for us but these little girls are already surprising me with how fast they are changing and getting used to routines and doing things " our " way after only 5 weeks. God is good and answers prayers. They now routinely wash their hands after restroom breaks..... beg for their baths everynight and look forward to church and bible class !!

Joan and anna I hope you are doing well..... we had our first snow on Sat night/ sunday morning !! it was about two inches with ice on the roads but melted away fairly quickly. School was delayed one hour today due to the roads !!

I like the special K shakes but I think they are making me gasey so I recently switched to eas. I having a hard time finding a place with a good selection. So far I don't like target or Walmart. But I have to share my big news I've only been on the program about 10 days and when I calculated it out I lost 1.4 in the last 7 and that's good bc I even had a cheat meal! So I'm pretty happy

Hi Christine and team! I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Mandy and I just recently started the simple diet. I love it so far but the weight is coming off very slow. Bet better than nothing I guess. I just wanted to say thank you to Christine for taking the time to answer my question with everything you have going on emoticon

well I can honestly say I know why you should have your kids young. These little girls are killing us all. Me, My brother, My mother, my Niece are all running up and down the road constantly trying to keep things together to get all this stuff done. We have 3 more birthdays this week and then only one more the last of this month ! I keep the 4 yr old yesterday and my mom was alone in her house for 5 hours ..... this is the first time in over a month she was alone. She says she can't go to bathroom or take a shower by herself or anything. We are all exhausted.
the sad part is I don't think their mother is going to try to get them back. She acts like she has
given up.

I hope everyone had a great new years !!
I hope to get back on track soon myself. !

Happy Saturday!

Anna~ Glad you'l be handing off the treasurer duties! That would stress me out to have that job.

I am bumping along diet wise but am getting more exercise so that's a plus. Smiths (Kroger) has Lean Cisines on sale this week.

Enjoy your day. I'l be going to curves, the library, house cleaning, finally packing up my Christmas decor!, going to church.

Hi everyone. It's going to be a busy month around here. New year, new giving receipts. Plus I am trying to get everything ready to hand the responsibility back to the treasurer. He was too busy for years (2 kids in college and mom in a nursing home) so DH volunteered me to give him a hand. Now I have been too busy(2 kids in college for the last 3 years and working the last year, plus all the rest of my "pastor's wife" stuff) so I finally got the point across to DH that I can't do everything and do any of it well. So the quicker I get everything done the quicker I can hand it all back.
Busy day ahead. I'd better get busy.
Have a great day.

Hello and Happy New Year!

Christine~ Glad you're almost well. I was sick last month and it took weeks until I felt normal. I hope the kids are back to school this week.

Anna~ Nothing like a text from a boyfriend to get a girl up and going again!

My house is a never ending battle to try to keep it somewhat clean and organized.

I need to shop today and get my food in order for kicking the diet (back) off tomorrow! I've been to Curves twice and am already feeling better, more energetic.

TTYL, Joan

Hi everyone. Things have been different around here this week. DH was sent home early Monday because of forcasted ice and snow. Very little came. He worked Tuesday and was off the rest of the week using up vacation time. Did a lot of dishes but still have a bunch left from the party- serving utensils mostly. Did tons of laundry, but that is a never ending battle. DD2 was so sick I took her to urgent care on Christmas eve. They have her an antibiotic and a steroid and less than 24 hours later she was almost back to normal, except still wanting to SLEEP all day unless the boy friend texted and wanted her to come over.

wow what a crazy busy last two weeks..... I am FINALLY feeling better and have slowed down on my coughing !! I think I'm going to live !! Ha !!

Joan and ANNA - I hope you are doing well

I have been so sick and did less this xmas than EVER due to that....... I never even got my tree up or decorated so that was one less thing to do....... Since I have been in the bed for over a week ,,,...... MY house looked HORRIFIC....... I have been cleaning and mopping and throwing away xmas boxes and paper and tags and tons of debris.
I can finally see my house and remember dimly what its supposed to look like.....
this week is my bday and two more great nieces and nephews. !! IT seem to never stop. I hope to get some normalcy in my life but fear it may NEVER return.
My mother is totally overwhelmed with school being out so since I finally got better I will
take two of the girls for the weekend to help her out. The smallest one is allergic to EVERYTHING including cats which I HAVE so I cannot take her.

Wish me luck I may not be sane after this.....LOL.....

happy new year everyone

What are some of your New Years goals? I plan to 1) go to Curves 3 X per week, 2) drink more tea and less diet Coke, 3) take vitamins and supplements at least 5 X per week, 4) go to the movies once a month with my BFF, 5) pay off credit cards.

Happy New Year! I hope it's a great one for us all!

Hello,

I rejoined Curves yesterday. I was last a member in 2013. I love Curves and the way I can fit it into my busy schedule, plus the effectiveness, monthly measurements and that it is women only.

wow I am not having a very merry xmas..... I have been in the bed since saturday afternoon with an upper respiratory infection / bronchititis !! I went to the dr on monday and have been on steriods and an inhaler and some new powerful antibiotic. I still have no voice or energy . I wrapped my first present today and was wore out after a few minutes. I feel worse for deserting my poor mom ! The kids have been out of school since friday and she's had all four there. My niece has a 10 month old but she is filling in and helping for me. WE have been running around like crazy trying to make sure santa brings them some stuff to the house. Lots of kind people have offered to help. My mom went to court on Tues to obtain temporary custody and 3 of the kids had to be taken to the dr for various things. I can see we are finally beginning to get some ROUTINE in their lives with " washing the hands" and saying blessing before eating and not wiping dirty hands on our clothes and such !!
It will be a long road but well worth it

have a very merry xmas everyone !!

Hello,
What an accomplishment, I went all day without any sweets, no candy, cake, cookies or chocolate dipped pretzels. My sweet tooth was getting way out of control! Yikes!

Anna~ Sounds like you did well at your party the other night! Merry Christmas to you!

I really need to make myself get more exercise.

Had our last Christmas party last night. I don't think I did too bad. Lots of running around, cooking, setting up, tearing down, cleaning up etc. Not a lot of eating. Logged most of it and didn't go way over my goal for the day. Now to get rid of the rest of the leftovers.
Have a merry Christmas!

Hello,

I hope you all are avoiding the sweets at this time of the year better than me! Yikes! I think I'll box them up and ask DH to hide them.

We are having some family over tomorrow for a pre Christmas lunch. I'm off my regular job until January 4th, ahhhh. I'll work my home care job over the break but will still have a lot of time to relax and rejuvinate. My shopping is done, the cards have been mailed.

Enjoy your weekend! Joan

Hello,

Christine~ I'm glad the children have your support and love during this difficult time. Drink your water, get a few extra steps in each day and try to reach for more fruits and vegetables. Hang in there!

We had two parties yesterday and I did OK at both of them. The food wasn't that great at either one, lol.

Hello ladies..... I will be brief !!

Thank you thank you for the prayers !! they are sooooooo appreciated. This is my nephew's first wife and she got the children taken away by social services..... two of the girls belong to my nephew but the other two are not his but we love them all since we visit with them all. They are a handful and we are trying to get some sort of routine and security in their little lives and taking them to worship and trying to teach them to pray. ITs a pretty pitiful and sad situation.
I am driving over everyday to help mom and try to get some stability in their lives. It will be an ongoing process.

I may not be on here but once a week or so.....

JOAN - way to go on resisting and doing what you can !!

Carol emoticon so glad to have you on board !!

I am on the run and eating TERRIBLY !!

Anna - way to go with you too.... you are working it and doing woman !! that's awesome !!

Happy Saturday!

I made it through the catered lunch yesterday without doing too much damage. The key for me is to get right back on plan after a meal with extra calories. The old, bad me would say, "well, I already blew it so why not have XYZ for dinner..." Normal weight people I know enjoy special foods at events but eat light before and after.

Hope everyone is doing well, Joan

Welcome.

I too have many get togethers this season and will be taking something ( fruit or veggies) to some of them that will help fill me up so I can taste several of the goodies and not go overboard on calories. I will take very small servings of the things I really want, and larger servings of the most healthy, then leave the rest alone.
When going out to eat I check out the menu on line and order the healthiest/ lowest calorie or only eat half and take the rest home for DH to use for his lunch the next day.
My biggest downfall this time of year is DESSERTS!

Hello,

Carol~ So glad you've joined us! I have the same philosophy as you to get through the holidays regarding my diet. My plan is to eat on plan unless there is a party in which case I'll eat sensibly from the food served. I have a lot of events coming up, catered lunch at work tomorrow, two parties on Sunday, Anniversary on Wednesday, pot luck at work and dinner out on Thursday... You get the idea. Today, no special events so no excuses to not eat on plan. The Simple Diet is to me like Jenny Craig/NutriSystem but with a lot more choices, convenience and a much lower price.

My weigh in for the new Biggest Loser challenge was a bit shocking, but I am looking forward!

Hope everyone is doing well, Joan

Hi, Everyone - I'm new to this team and I just got my copy of The Simple Diet from Amazon yesterday. I've read the book (quickly but with great interest.) I really love the concept because I've used frozen meals in the past and have had success losing - just got off the wagon and blew it before I reached my goals emoticon . I have to be totally honest: I know darn well that I'm not going to be able to follow TSD through Christmas. I cannot see myself bringing a Lean Cuisine and fruit to someone''s house and as for Christmas Day, I'm hosting the family and, again, I'm not going to eat a Healthy Choice Turkey Dinner while they are eating the meal I've prepared for them. emoticon I'm not saying some people can't pull it off, but I know myself too well to even make believe I can. So, my strategy is to eat according to TSD as much as I can and then after Christmas, it's full speed ahead emoticon . I do plan on starting my exercise 6 days a week as soon as I shake this cold I have right now emoticon . I work but I have access to a microwave so it's easy for me to eat lunch. I know that a shake for breakfast will satisfy me emoticon . Going out is going to be the hardest part for me. So does anyone have any tips? I'd love to hear from some team members on how they handle it when they can't eat at home emoticon .

Christine, I will keep you and yours in my prayers. Prayer is powerful. emoticon

Hope everyone is getting all their Christmas chores done. The stores are crowded and the lines at the Post Office are a block long, but I keep smiling because I remember He's the reason for the Season!

Blessings to all,

Hello,

I really need the new challenge to start! I am out of control with my eating. emoticon

Christine~ I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. Are the parents with the kids at your mom's house or just the kids? I hope everything will settle down soon for your family.

I'm done with my Christmas shopping and it feels great. I had cards printed at Costco and they came out too dark. I'm deciding if I'll send them or have them reprinted.

Have a good day, Joan

Joan

Hello,

Anna~ Glad the gloves were appreciated and that you're getting better sleep.

Christine~ I hope you're feeling better and more in control of your food choices. This is such a challenging time of year!

I was busy and then have been sick and now am finally coming by to say hello.

emoticon

Our Thanksgiving was fun, we had 7 people over for dinner. I am almost done with my Christmas shopping but still need to get our Christmas card photo figured out. I will draw a name for secret santa tomorrow at work We bring small gifts to our person for 4 days next week and a bigger gift on Friday.
I am trying to stay under control food wise during this between the challenges time.

Finally have 2 working vehicles again. Now I can get some uninterrupted sleep. Hoping what they say about lack of sleep affecting weight loss efforts is right and I start losing faster because of the extra sleep I'll be getting.

DD was working when I finished the gloves so I took a pic of the bride wearing them today. She was very pleased with the way they turned out.

I'm down almost 4# for the challenge. :)

I finally moved off the plateau I've been stuck on for almost a year.

Now to lose another 5# or more during the next challenge.

Anna~ Those gloves sure sound tricky to make!

I hope you both had a good weigh in. I lost a small amount of my gain from 2 weeks ago, SO, long story short I am down 10 # for the challenge. I could have done better if I'd tried harder and hadn't fallen off the wagon.

The weather is glorious here today. I hope to get my haircut after work and get some exercise in, too.

Take care, Joan

The gloves are "champagne" stretch taffeta. They were supposed to be stretch satin, but I was having trouble with the satin, besides couldn't find it yesterday but with a 60% off coupon the taffeta was really cheap. About $6 for enough for beyond the elbow gloves. They are almost finished. My only problem today was the taffeta stretches the opposite direction. Oops. I actually bought enough for DD to make a pair of driving gloves out of it as well. We will have to enlarge the pattern a bit to accommodate a lining to make them warmer. Still have more than enough for the driving gloves and a bit extra in case of problems.

Tomorrow's weigh in will be interesting for me what with yesterday's party and today's leftovers and too many crackers while sewing.
Good luck ladies, hope you are both pleasantly surprised.

Hello,

I hope you both are doing well.

Anna~ What color are the gloves? I bet they are tricky to make. Going over with fruit punch would bug me, too. I'd rather EAT my calories, lol.

Christine~ I hope your family drama settles down soon. That is crazy that you can hear the hunter's guns go off. I guess no walks out that way!

I have been on and off, on and off diet wise. A coworker brought me a home baked cheesecake brownie and cookies this morning; I've eaten the brownie already. emoticon When I'm in the groove I am in, when I venture out I'm sloppy.

My goal is maintain the weight I lost during the Fall Challenge until the Winter Challenge begins.

Have a good day, Joan

First BIG party of the season. I went over my daily calorie goal by about 600 calories. 300 of it in the fruit punch alone. They only had punch, water and coffee to drink. I should have known better and brought my bottle of lightly sweetened tea it would have been about 1/10th the calories. Oh well. I could have done a lot worse.

DH's truck broke down on the way to work yesterday. Took him to work came home went back to bed then got up and did a bunch of running around until he got off work.
Bought the fabric for the gloves for the wedding. The bride was supposed to, but the wedding is this weekend and she hadn't done it yet. Now to work hard on sewing every spare minute until they are done. I will have DD model them for a picture of the finished product.

Joan I've not been making wise choices..... or as I like to say now..... EATING STUPID !! When I have a head cold then I make bad choices ....... I don't feel well and somehow I think that I can reward myself or comfort myself with or by letting myself eat stupid ! I have somehow GOT to break that way of thinking.... eating stupid is NOT a REWARD !!! At the time it feels good but I am miserable later when I see on the scale my bad choices !! It takes SO LITTLE time to undo what took A LONG time to get done !! VERY FRUSTRATING !!

I am trying to get myself back into eating smart this week before the challenge last WI !!
I am still not feeling well and have had a lot of family drama and stress this week and am afraid what the scale will say if I don't reign it in soon !!

ANNA- glad for the free meat ! Deer season has started around here and I was AWOKE on saturday morning and Sunday morning by the sound of GUNSHOTS !! HUNTERs all around us here but my DH is not one of them !!

I hope this persistent nagging cough will go away soon !!

Why is it that I usually weigh less on Friday or Saturday morning than on Thursday? Lost another half pound since weigh in on Thursday. Now to keep it off until next Thursday and lose a bit more would be great.

Spent the morning cutting venison off the bone. DH was given a shoulder/leg by a friend at work and of course I am the one who had to cut it up and get it ready for the freezer. But now he has about 2 weeks worth of meat so I can't complain much, all we had to pay was gas to pick it up and freezer bags.

Time to get ready for work.

Good morning,

Sorry I've been so absent. After my gain a week ago I started back sliding. I stayed the same this week.

It sounds like you two are doing well and making good choices. With only one week left in our challenge let's push on.

Have a nice weekend! Joan

good morning ladies

Its been a crazy weekend and I have struggled with my eating ....... I am going to try to reign it in over the next few days and do better !
I don't know why but I find myself wanting to snack constantly...... I probably need to up my protein and watch it better !!
My water and exercise has still been on track at least and its been two beautiful sunny cool fall days back to back.... I went to see the Martian starring Matt Damon and its a great story. I was disappointed that is was rated PG13 and still had some foul Language but the story was WONDERFUL !! I did really enjoy it and resisted the YUMMY smelling popcorn !!

Today I have an appt to see Dentist for check up and then some de -cluttering . MY DH has a terrible head cold and is waking up at night coughing and sneezing and therefore I am too !! emoticon emoticon

Have a blessed day
MOve more eat smart !
