I try to do three veggies and two fruits as well. I usually throw my steamed veggied into my entrees to make them more filling as I am self admitted volume eater. I do eat way more fruit on the days I am craving a lot of sugar. I try and stay away from too many bananas a week but a nice ripe banana helps me defend against cravings for carbs and sugar (plus, it sort of looks like a Twinkie right?) :) Some days I am just super hungry (possibly emotional eating?) and I try and binnge on veggies to keep myself from going off the plan.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments!! So far I am enjoying the plan, and already saw a difference in the scale from today vs. yesterday. Thursdays will be my official weigh-in day...so I won't check again until next week. But I'm pretty confident that I'll have lost. :)

The way I understand the fruit/veggie servings is that you have to have 5 servings a day. It can be all of one, or any mixture of the two. That's the way I've been doing it for 2 months, and I'm down almost 30 lbs. I rarely eat fruit. Maybe once a week, if that.

Thank you! That makes more sense about the 5 servings!

You go it! Regarding the freggies, it is a combo of 3 veggies and 2 fruit or 3 fruit and 2 veggies.

Hi Lisa,
I wish I knew what to tell you. I'm waiting on my book to arrive so I can have a better understanding about the plan too. From what you've written, it sounds pretty good to me. I know what you mean about the shakes and worrying whether or not you will still be hungry. I worry about that too. I think if you make the shakes with ice and fruit you can't go wrong. It should fill you up. Just try to eat something at least every 3 hours. That's what I've been hearing and it makes sense. It keeps your metabolism revved up and it also keeps you from getting too hungry.
The question I have regarding the plan right now is the 5 servings of fruits and veggies. Is that 5 serving of each or is it like, 3 veggies and 2 fruits or what?? Do you know?
Good luck with the plan and keep us posted! I can't wait to start on mine!

I think your menu sounds great. If you ever get bored of the shakes, you can always use Greek Yogurt. I use the Greek yogurt because it's easy to carry on the go. The can shakes are too I guess but I prefer the Greek yogurt.

Oh, as far as binges, great idea to eat more veggies or fruits. If you ever run out of those, try buying yourself a box of the protein bars as Dr. A suggest. You do not have to of course, I keep them for just in case circumstances as well.

I wish you the best ;) emoticon

Hi all,

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now trying to gather tips about the plan while I waited for my copy of the book to arrive. It came yesterday and I read pretty much all of it, and decided to start the diet tomorrow (Wednesday). After a trip to the grocery store this evening to stock up on shakes, entrees and freggies, I planned my menu for tomorrow. I'd just like some feedback to make sure I have the gist of things and am not going overboard with my freggies!

B: Strawberries n' Cream shake blended with 1/2 c. mixed berries & 1/2 cup peaches
AM snack: 1 large orange, vanilla shake
L: SmartOnes Pasta Primavera & 2 c. California Combo veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots)
PM Snacks: 1 c. watermelon, 1 medium apple, vanilla shake (my lunch break is quite early in the day, around 11:15 am, so I space my afternoon snacks out so I don't binge at work)
D: garden salad, Lean Cuisine Chicken Enchilada Suiza

I haven't decided yet whether to eat after dinner, if I do it will either be fruit or some raw veggies.

I guess I am just worried I'll be hungry since I've never used shakes before! Any tips/advice would be wonderful! I am eager to start the plan but want to make sure I'm getting off to a good start.

Thanks all!
-Lissa
