As to being a manager, I'm thinking that Farrell is a great pitching coach!!

Everything I have heard and read made it sound like Cherington wasn't going anywhere.

Cherington should be the next to go.think he made a lot of mistakes-OK beckett wasn't happy here, but although gonzales was reported to be unhappy, he at least put up good numbers

Surely Valentine was not surprised. Farrell is mostly who I've heard mentioned. Shilling has been advocating for him too. Sandburg is an interesting choice. I guess we will have to be patient and see where they go now. John Henry said they were happy with Cherington, and I guess that means he is safe for now.

first thing they have done right all year. What a major disappointment-big time. I actually was really happy when Bobby V. came here, thought he would put a fire under everyone's ***. Little did I know........... Did you hear now that Francona is talking to the Indians?????

Not sure who will, who I'd like to see, after I was happy with Valentine, and looked what happened

I like the idea of Sandburg. To be totally honest, I had completely forgotten about him. Totally off the radar.

Just read the article before coming here. Not sure who I'd pick but you're right about Sandburg being a good choice.

The Phillies just promoted Ryne Sandburg to 3B coach, but the reality is he is ready to manage a major league team NOW (he should have been the Cubs manager a few years back). The only reason he is JUST going to 3B is that Charlie Manual has one more year on his contract, and then it is assumed Ryne will take the helm in Philly. If I was the Sox, I'd push the Phillies to let us interview Ryne. He will be an OUTSTANDING manager!

Best news I've heard for most of the season. I'm actually happy today, even after the Rangers bombed the AL West in yesterday's game. I needed something like that to take the dark cloud off of me, the way this season has gone. As for who? I'm clueless. Farrell has done didley-squat with the Bluebirds this season. I swear, if they hire Ozzie Guillen, I may quit baseball altogether. Maybe there's a third base coach lurking out there somewhere. I'd be willing to accept a total unknown. It would be difficult to be worse.

Red Sox Principal Owner John Henry said, “In our meeting with Bobby today, he handled everything with dignity and class, and it is deeply appreciated. Ultimately, we as owners are responsible for arming our organization with the resources — intellectual, physical, and financial — to return to the levels of competitiveness to which we aspire and to which our fans are accustomed. Our commitment to winning is unwavering. It is a commitment to this team, to this city, and to these fans who have supported us through thick and thin." boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.j
