haha Rick...I wouldn't write that kind of stuff, not about this team. I'm right beside you in opinion of this team, I remain disgusted. And with each of their PR attempts to make it seem like this wasn't a major failure by the people evaluating these overpaid cinderallas and instead point to the manager's "loss of voice" or a failure of conditioning, pointing the fingers at anyone but the players, running a good man out of town in the meantime, I dislike this group more. Theo is on his way out, it seems, and this ship is not looking very enticing for the cruise that is the 2012 season. Just my opinion, and I don't know that I will still feel this way come spring training, but I think I might. I will be 52 years old next week and have been a Red Sox fan since 1967, they broke my heart a million times, but I always came back for more lovingly and willingly. But they never quit like they did this year, they never didn't give a $hit like they did this year, and then blame it all on the manager. This feels pretty different to me..

I had to look back on what I wrote. Moon and Tide. The Sun, huh? Tina, did you sign on as me and write that junk?

They were 7-20 in September! 7-20 in September!!! 7-20, it's not possible.

Take out their start, they were almost 40 game over .500! Finished 7-20 when everything was on the line. Look up choke in the next run of the dictionary and you will see a team photo of the 2011 Boston Red Sox.

Take them all out, one by one, starting with the owners, then Theo, then the starters, next Crawford and Gonzo and string them up, drag them through the streets, tar and feather them and then throw them in the harbor to float out to sea, never to be seen again.

Gonzo says it's God's will. It's God's will that they are now the biggest embarrassment in the history of major league sport. More embarrassing then the NY Yanks in the '04 ALCS. The Yanks lost 4 out of 7. In other words, they were 3-4 in one series. This team didn't win one series the entire month of September, that's with playing the dreadful O's 7 times. It's impossible to do that. This collective group of over paid, pampered, self absorbed losers, when it counted the most, lost 20 out of 27 games. You can't make this up.

If I was Tito, I wouldn't have just quit, I'd have jumped off the Tobin. No wonder he gave a TV interview a couple days later with a Popeye t-shirt on that read "blow me." This team cracked his nut. This team broke a good man. They gave up, and forced him to give up on them.

I'll see you in March. Spark is suppose to be healthy, not give you high blood pressure.

I have been doing the happy dance all day...YAY the Yankees lost too!

I hope Pap doesn't leave! My son and I have a joke about him, I told him while we were watching one game that Pap has bulletproof swagger and he needed that too. Now my son will be one of the starting pitchers for his high school team who is #2 in the state of Louisiana this year so he will need more than bulletproof swagger LOL He was a closer last year but half of the bullpen graduated so coach has him making a transistion to starter or middle reliever. So proud of my little guy...HA he's 6'2 and 185 pounds not very little!

I totally get the Sun Moon thing, I can't explain it but ever since my very first Red Sox game in the old Yankee stadium I just completely fell in love with this team, you might say I'm over the moon for the sox! LOL Cheesy much!?!

Have a great weekend!

'Tis only 4 months until Pitchers and Catchers report. What will the Red Sox Team look like? Who knows. All I know is that I will proudly wear the "B" forever. Some days are better than others.

I sure get the moon and tides reference. Some days I feel I live life on a bungie chord when it comes to the Sox. That last game, so close to a wonderful ending, springing back to the loving arms of post season, then the bungie chord sprang to the end and slapped me on the rocks a bit.

Next year, my friends... next year!

Nice Bruins opening ceremony. Must be tough to play a game after that, but they are absolutely going at them.

you, my friend, are a nut!!!! Perhaps by the time spring training rolls around, I might have forgiven, but for right now I'm still not buying that "mutual decision" thing when the bums didn't exercise his option..that's showing him the door no matter how you slice it. And John Henry continues to Tweet... Hope he drifts out to sea in his absurdly large yacht.

very deep, my friend, very deep... I am not in the deep stage yet, I'm still a bit peeved. Francona was on WEEI today with Ordway and Holley, and is still taking the high, classy road. Makes me angry with those guys all over again.

I get it Rick.. Okay, they are gone now, so I am in ABTY mode: ANYBODY BUT THE YANKEES!!!!!

Was hoping the Tigers could take care of business last night, and though I don't know the final score, I know they didn't.. They are likely done. Too bad..

In the meantime, the Sox continue to twist in the wind, no one has heard from Henry, nothing but rumor and innuendo... I wonder if it's going to be as hard to root for them next year as I feel it is going to be right at this particular moment. I don't think I've ever felt this way about this team.. We'll see!!

There is no other conference in the NCAA-Football like the SEC. Our boys hit harder and play longer LOL

I agree with Chef...NO BAMA...and I certainly don't think they are going to come into DEATH VALLEY and steal a win, not with Coach Satan er,..Saban!

Still great baseball still to be seen, just wish the media would let the Sox slink away and lick their wounds.

Verlander.....WOW what a show last night.

GO RANGERS!! Gotta root for them, I would love to see them get all the way this year

The SEC schedules can be pretty rough. They make you work for the championship for sure.

I agree on the good baseball, but all the garbage about the Red Sox is making the game not as fun for me. I grew up in Philadelphia and my baseball started with the Phillies so if they can make to the series, that will be who I'll be cheering for. Besides they have a great team this year.

Let's see if the Tigers can finish off the Yanks..Burnett, maybe there's a chance!!

Chef, I wouldn't want Georgia (better than you think), followed by LSU, Bama on the road, SC and on the road vs. Arkansas. The SEC is unfair.

Still good baseball going on. Tampa lost to the Rangers, yah. Watching the Tigers beat the Yanks right now 4-2 in the 6th. CC leaving the game after 5.1. Verlander is amazing, 8 K's through 6.

CRYS1120 - look out behind you, here comes Bama. November 5th, Tigers go down. Love college football, especially the almightly SEC. My 12th ranked Michigan Wolverines wouldn't beat half the teams on LSU's schedule this year.

Hey Guess what, did you guys hear that the Red Sox didn't make it to post season and that Terry Francona resigned as manager?!?

I'm so sick of hearing about the Red Sox season ending issues.

Isn't there a football player that screwed up, a coach or coordinator that has controversy, ANYTHING? talk about ANYTHING but the Red Sox.

The kid last night was pretty amazing. Kind of reminded me of Bucholtz's first shut out. I had not heard Tek was in consideration. I have always thought he'd be great in a coaching capacity, but I can't see JH going with an unknown managing commodity. I want baseball to find a new story, and let Tito and the Sox figure out what is next. All the speculation and trash talk is getting old.

Matt Moore was incredible in that Rays game yesterday, for only being his second major league start and to pitch so well I have to give him props!

Sad about Tito I liked him, been reading some speculations about his replacement, Varitek is on the list that might be a good place for Tek!

Happy Saturday...going to finish watching my LSU tigers beat the crap out of Kentucky

I agree with Chef, Tito really did look ready to go, but it was not his decision. He was going whether he wanted to or not. John Henry (poor guy fell down on his yacht yesterday, he'll probably fire the deck hand who didn't swab the deck properly) had to assign blame. Look in the mirror Ownership and Theo. Give a guy a bunch of soft babies and you get this September. I'm happy for Tito. I hope he takes a year off and comes back to get a great gig elsewhere. Or he may end up the White Sox Manager next year. White Sox have great Ownership, a team that could compete in a hurry and Chicago is a great city.

Look at those Rays. Threw out a kid last night in the first game of the playoffs who was starting his second major league game, ever. He threw a two hit shutout over 7 innings as the Rays stomped the rested Rangers 9-0. That kid has more heart/guts in his one pinky finger than this Red Sox team had in it's collective whole.

Each day I get more ticked off. I might have to leave this thread.

Channel 5 says John Henry decided this weeks ago because of a "lack of urgency" on Tito's part. Now he knows how we've felt watching JD Drew play for the last how ever many years he's been here. Bunch of bull crap. I am really pi$$ed at this team.

I did not see Tito tonight, but I saw the press conference yesterday. I agree that it was never all Tito's problem. When I watched yesterday, he looked totally beaten. There's a part of me that thinks he also was ready to leave as well. There has been a lot of talk about club house problems, but does anyone know who or what.

Watching Tito right now. Taking complete responsibility for the collapse, which is total bull, but admirable. You have to admire the guy going out like he is. Press conference to discuss his exit ( his failure), who does that? More upper management puppet masters at work. Terry is a class act to the end.

Now, how do you make Theo smarter? A sports radio caller added up a half billion dollars of bad signings, going name by name, during his tenure.

Now it's time for Theo to explain himself. Sit down in front of the cameras and explain YOUR failures Next, Lester, Lackey, Beckett, Wake, Crawford, whoever plays right, Gonzo sit down in front of the cameras and explain your failures in Sept. And don't blame it on "God's will". God doesn't give two craps about MLB. And don't blame the schedule. Paper Tigers all. Greatest team of all time on paper.

And today all the talk is that John Henry didn't pick up the two year extension, and Tito told his staff that he would not be coming back. There has been nothing but speculation on sports radio. Most of it has been disgusting.

they have been obsessed with getting rid of all the "idiots" and it has come back to bite them in the a$$, I've said it before and I'll say it again: boy could they have used a Kevin Millar to keep them loose, boy could they have used some old pros to keep them focused..

Did you see that press conference? I have less respect for ownership than ever. They force these guys to go out and give that press conference to try to calm the things down, and they, especially Tito, I'd say, don't even know their future. I think if I were Tito, I might not want to come back, but still, forcing him into that dog and pony show when he might already be a lame duck, they are more worried about PR than anything..

And Youk, he did his best playing hurt at the end. They really missed his intensity. Him and Pedie are the heart and soul of that team. They could have used an "idiot" like Johny Damon.

Agreed, Theo should be gone. However, they won't fire him. He may leave on his own to do something else (Cubs?), but they won't fire him. They will fire Tito. Not fair, but it doesn't matter. If this is the best he can do with all that talent (that kind of start and finish), what is going to change next year? I don't see the core of the team changing. They will fire Tito to try to shake this team up.

Too bad you can't fire the entire starting pitching staff, and Crawford. That starting pitching was shameful the entire month. They wore out the bullpen. Everyone of them should be ashamed of themselves, even Lester who was ok last night, finally. Beckett is now a number 3 or 4 guy, pitiful. Wake is gone. Lackey, what can you say about this guy? There are no words for Lackey, and I think we have three more years of this horses ass. It's one thing to be the worst starting pitcher in baseball, it's another thing to act like a complete jerk.

In the 7th inning, we had a 3-2 lead, with the bullpen lined up to close it out, and the Yankees had a 7-0 lead. They were going to clinch this thing, get a day off to patch up the pitching, and have a decent shot in the post season.

Last night I was numb, now I'm pissed.

You must be careful how you walk and where you go, for there are those following you who will set their feet where yours are set.

Hey guys..I got home late last night, actually watched the disaster unfold upstairs and away from the computer. You know what?? I'm glad it's over..they sucked, deserved to lose, Tampa, on the other hand, totally deserved to win. Baseball gods began to speak with that triple play in Tampa the other night, this was pre-ordained.. Still can't believe the Yanks gave up a 7 run lead..I don't care what anyone says, that was NOT the way for them to end their season. I say fire Theo, if anyone.

So much to say, so little time.

Aceves hits a couple guys but gets it done again, big double play. Nothing but Sox fans left at the game. That's good.

Sox 3-2 after 8, Bard 8th, Pap 9th, odss anyone?

Bard gets it done in the 8th. Yanks hanging in there in the 10th.

Not good. The Yanks have no incentive to drag it out. It's one thing to beat up on the Rays with your regulars. But why should they try now. Everyone played to stay fresh. Now they just want to go home and wait for Friday.

Oh no, the Yanks are bringing out Burnett for the 7th. That guy has no heart, no soul, no guts, no value, no nothing. He is a loss waiting to happen.

Burnett puts two guys on and Joe Girardi pulls him. Playing to win. God bless him. 7-0 Yanks after 7.

Ouch, Yanks give up 6 in the 8th. I hate Joe Girardi. Come on Yanks, one freankin inning.

Rain delay after 7.5. Sox up 3-2. Let it rain, and rain, and rain, all night long. Lester nice line 6 innings, 4 hits, 2 earn runs. We needed that bad.

Yanks up 7-0 after 6.

Chef, believe! I'm wearing my 2004 hat tonight.

Tina, let's continue on this thread as I have no cleaver (or is it clever?) topic title.

Game 162, Birds 2-1 after 3. Lester looks pretty good, even with Hardy's two run bomb. Yanks up 5-0 after 2.

I'm ok with Drew in right tonight.1 for 2 so far. Pressure doesn't effect him. Nothing effects him. Doesn't get excited about anything. He's very weird. Solid in right. Bard has Lakey problems, mentally in a bad place. Not for personal reasons. Pressure. Sign Pap, good luck on Els. Borass will take him to the highest bidder, whether that be Boston or a AAA China league.

Scotter double. Move to third. Bulk, tie game!

You been watching Atlanta vs. SL wild card elimination battle? Same as Sox vs. Rays. High drama.

Hey Rick...
are we gonna continue on this thread tonight or are you going to start a new one? Just need to know so I know where to look if I'm inspired to surf tonight.. Have to go to my mom's for dinner, lots of out of town family here, so I might not be watching much tonight, which, at this point, is fine by me, I get awfully nervous and I'm trying to keep my blood pressure under control..

They are talking potential heavy rain tonight in Baltimore..not good if the game starts and has to stop..what the hell do we do if we lose Lester after an inning or so?

Am I crazy to be happy JD Drew is back? I like him out there in right field.. As much as I dislike his demeanor, and the offensive (or NOT offensive) year he's having, I have always liked his defense, and I think he won't wilt under the pressure..

What the hell is wrong with Bard?? So much for him becoming our closer..Theo had better sign Papelbon.

It is time for the Red Sox to abandon their "value driven" philosophy and hang onto players that have proven they can perform under the scrutiny of Boston. When you think back to all these players they have let go: Damon, Lowe, Cabrera, Beltre, Martinez..and look at who they have brought in who could not perform here..clearly the intangible of playing in this atomsphere can't be quantified. They MUST resign Papelbon, and they must sign Ellsbury.

Bard coughs up 2. Pap warming up. Anyone still think he is the closer of the future. We better re-sign Pap. We would be no where this year without him.

8-6 after 8. Come on Pap. This is the season. Rays beat the Yanks.

Aceves has now pitched more innings than Bedard (3.2, one earned run to 3.1, 3 earn runs) not to mention pitching last night, and the night before that. Think Tito isn't kicking himself for not getting him into the rotation two weeks ago? Amazing job.

Lavarnway another homer! 8-4, keep them coming,

Up to Bard and Pap tol hold a 4 run lead over 2 innings. Not worried about Pap. Bard better have a short lease. He has a problem with pressure.

I have pulled out my 2004 Championship hat. First time in a long time (not worn this year). I got the hat before the 2004 playoffs and noted every game altering play/player under the brim. For example, "10/19 - B 4 - NY 2 (1st team to force game 7 down 3-0! and 10/23 - B 11 - SL 9 Bellhorn homer in the 8th! and 10/27 - Boston wins it - Lowe 3 hits over 7, Manny MVP"

The ghosts of Boston past are with us.

Come on Bedard.
