Hi Everyone. Hope you're all having a good day.
Decided this morning to see if taking a very strong fluid pill would help my back any by getting some of the excess fluid out of my system and I honestly think it has helped a good bit. My back has eased up a whole lot since taking the medication. Normally I don't take fluid pills as I'm allergic to sulfer medications but I felt it was worth the risk if I got some relief in my lower back. Now I've got to really watch the sodium so that it doesn't build back up.

I wish I could do that. These days I am going back and forth. I have either been anxious or barely getting out of bed if I do not have sweets. I do not know how to deal with that. How do I get beyond this? At this time I am feeling that I need candies all the time for survival.

ONICAM...the only way to get rid of withdrawal symptoms is to get away from the overload of sugar, salt, and fat in your system, and avoid processed foods as much as possible. You CAN train your body to enjoy food with lower levels of sugar and salt, without bombarding it with artificial sweeteners. Once you get used to the natural sweetness of fruits, the processed stuff is way too much. Once you adapt to less salt, processed foods taste way too salty. You are a smart woman...you know what to do. Mind over matter. Get yourself fruits and get rid of the candy. You might want to read 'Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us' by Michael Moss . and there are great YouTube videos by Dr Lustig

Oh organizing, that is something I can Always find to do. I mean I have this big accordion file folder under my desk here at home that needs completely overhauled and all my cabinets could use a definite reordering process as well. This I will do a bit each day ...sounds like a good goal for me... :D

SHERYLDS, I know what you mean about tidying up. I finally got around to finishing painting the kitchen, and was able to get rid of all the 'stuff' I've been keeping 'just in case'. The apartment looks fantastic, and it definitely makes a difference in how I feel when I walk in the door at the end of the work day -- no clutter!

BMGILK, that's an excellent goal to work towards. I know that for me, when I make the effort to be consistent, I definitely see results. You can do this!

I'm thinking that my goal this year is to move more. I know that when I incorporate exercise into my day, the results are almost immediate. I decided this morning to go back to the gym, and will make an attempt to get there today -- when I go depends on how busy it is at the office.

My thing I want to do this year is really stay on track... Being consistent Is the TOP Goal for me in 2014... I feel if I can be consistent, I will see the results better.. I have been slacking in 2013 with that, so this year is new and I am feeling different so good changes are coming. ^_^

I've decided that along with my diet and exercise...that each day, I am going to tackle one small area to organize and tidy up...and take 20 minutes every day to keep it that way. It is amazing how many things I haven't thrown out for fear of needing it later, or identity theft. At this point I get almost everything sent e-mail...but still I get mail that has my info on it. Not to mention that the recycle bins in my condo development are a block away. I remember the good old days, when you didn't have to worry about the trash, the water from the tap, and you didn't need Cable to watch TV.
Give me my walking cane so I can beat someone over the head emoticon

Well, the sun is definitely shining, but it's deceiving. It's a balmy -29C today. OUCH.

Just realizing that the over-eating that I've been doing these last few days could be attributed to me trying to pack on some fat to keep myself warm... like a bear... getting ready to hibernate. LOL.

Doing a lot better today, and happy about it.

I need to give my head a shake and smarten up.

I did ok in the morning yesterday, but the afternoon wasn't so good. I didn't end up going out because it was too cold. I stayed in, and I ate bread. Lots of bread.

I actually cringed when I saw the number on the scale this morning.

Time to pull myself out of the doldrums and seriously get back on track.

So my skipping breakfast yesterday turned out to be ok, but not so ok. I ended up eating way too much bread, and as a result, I feel all bloated today. URGH. I did manage to stay within my calories, though, so it wasn't so bad.

I am going to make sure I have my breakfasts every day.

Half way through my water today, and breakfast is digesting.

I may even be on time for work today!

Woke up with a pounding headache caused by the dry heat in my apartment. My sinuses are all blocked up.

Was late for work this morning, too. Skipped breakfast. Ended up getting a delicious burger and some fries for lunch. The place makes their own patties, so I know it's not loaded in sodium and fillers like the other places in the food court. I did skip the soft drink -- and asked for bottled water instead (the drink was included with the meal). I suppose I could have skipped the fries too, but I figured the meal will fill me up enough to not feel like I missed breakfast. It worked.

And I still have plenty of food to eat to meet my daily food consumption.

Thinking I may have to leave the office early today.

Wasn't home all weekend. Managed to get in SOME sparking, but didn't have time to post on the teams.

Still on track, food-wise, but totally blew it with the water consumption this weekend. I had one glass of water on Saturday. Sunday was slightly better, I had three. URGH.

I've already had half my water for the day today, so I think I'll be ok to get it all in by the end of the day.

Love dancing to those old songs. I think I may have been born 20 or even 30 years too late.

I didn't get a chance to do any online sparking yesterday. Was at the office early, and was busy all day, left early, went to get my hair trimmed and then headed straight to my son's school to see his band perform in a show they had there.

By the time I got to my friend's place after the show, it was quite late.

Another early day at the office -- which is good, because that means I can leave early too! YAY!!

So I've been on track, and have even been walking a lot more than I did two weeks ago.

Not just any dancing, either! Swing dancing, with a 17 piece orchestra and a crooner singing old Sinatra and Martin songs.

Feeling so-so today.

A little down, actually, but I'm sure that it will pass as the day goes by.

Happy about this week's 1.6 lb drop in weight. I'm sure it would have been a bigger number if I hadn't over-indulged in sodium on Friday. Also, I'm expecting the arrival of TOM, which usually means up to three pounds in excess weight for the week.

Going to stay on track again this week. Water consumption isn't a problem anymore either, since I found a new 'glass' that holds 3 cups.

I got home from work last night, felt exhausted. Didn't feel like cooking. Had a nap. Woke up, and ordered a small pizza and wings.

The plan was to only eat half. Didn't work out that way. I devoured all the food and I can't even tell you if it tasted good or not.

Went over my food alottment by 600. Haven't done that in a while, so I'm not too stressed about it. The sodium, however, was triple what I should have consumed. That means BLOATING for the next couple of days.

The plan today is to make better choices.

Managed to drink all my water yesterday! Now to keep it up!

This afternoon is going to be busy -- we'll be bundling up items into gift baskets that we will auction off for a charity fundraiser at work. The auction takes place on Friday.

Bringing my lunch to work is saving me a lot of money! It also means that I'm not going down to the food court and picking out not so healthy foods.

Well, the giant smoked meat sandwich was detrimental to my progress -- but it's not something that will be an issue -- once the bloating from the sodium goes away, everything will be as it should be.

I didn't drink enough water this past week, and although I got in some cardio, it wasn't enough.

This is definitely going to be a better week. My meals are all ready, and visits to the gym are going to be my daily goal.

I finished the second coat of paint in the dining room, managed to get the two doors painted and the baseboards on one wall -- then I ran out of white paint. LOL. (I knew I didn't have enough, I just didn't make it to the store on the weekend to get more.)

Had a giant smoked meat sandwich last night for dinner. Haven't added it to my food tracker yet.... thinking it shouldn't be too bad, since I was on track the rest of the day.

We had a chilli cook-off at work yesterday. My entry did not win, but the pot was scraped almost clean! LOL.

I went down to sample the offerings, and I was careful to take a small portion of each (of what was left). There were 15 entries, and by the time I got there, 45 minutes after the tasting started, six were already finished, mine being one of them! So, I sampled 9, and they equalled one portion. Yay me!

Today's big push is to drink ALL my water. I was on track until early this week, and then had no desire to drink water.

Yesterday did indeed turn out to be a challenge. I craved salt. Lots and lots of salt.

Before I did anything else, I filled my giant glass with water and drank it all. Thought it would help. Nope. An hour later, I was still craving salt. Another giant glass of water (that's six cups in all)... and the salt craving did not diminish, so I bought a bag of honey mustard and onion pretzel bits. And ate it all... six servings. UGH.

Had a light dinner, and managed to go over my recommended intake (calories) by about 600, but the sodium level was all the way up in the solar system.

Better today.

Need to drink more water, though. Just realized I've only had one cup so far.

Another day of hard work, and it's paying off.

Didn't manage to meet the recommended intake for food yesterday, because I was waiting for the ham to cook in my new slow-cooker. Should have just prepared it in the oven! LOL.

I will have to watch myself today, so that I don't overeat to make up for the low intake yesterday.
Think I'll be ok, though, but still.

Going to get myself ready and off to work shortly.

Cold, wet, dreary day outside today.

Perfect for staying in, watching a movie and crocheting.

Bought a new crock pot today. It's being put to use at this very moment, cooking up a huge batch of chili for a charity cook-off at the office on Thursday.

Looking forward to using that crock pot on a very regular basis!

there are times I just want to scream....this morning was one of them
I have a lot of issues with the condo maintenance group here...
I woke up with a splitting headache and took 2 aspirin...finally back to sleep.
The maintenance guys started mowing the lawn at 6:45 AM.

Robin, you sound a lot like me! All or nothing thinking and trying to do it all at once is usually the cause of getting so frustrated with myself that I give up. I don't want it to be like that anymore, so I am trying to make small changes. I have been doing better with water but still not so great on the exercise. I just can't seem to get myself started. :(
I need to be on Spark more for the motivation, I need to utilize the trackers and work on my planning! I hope your week is going well so far!

I have to take baby steps because I tend to be a all or nothing girl, then I wonder why I fail. So for me it is getting back on here and plugging in. ROBININVEGAS -- thanks for the thoughts. Follow through is my nemesis. I say I'm going to do something, like exercise, but don't do it. My good intentions fall by the wayside.
So, I'm here to be accountable to myself and to find some motivation that I seem to keep misplacing.
Right now my goals are to drink my water every day, and do some sort of exercise every day. I figure if I start small and build on it maybe it will stick! How about you? What goals are you working toward?

Oh I know that feeling of doing nothing, it is what has lead me to more weight gain & heart ache. So no more doing nothing put out now is what I am telling myself. So what are your goals is there anything we can do to help? For me it is following through. If I say or write I am going to walk for one break I want to be able to come back and report I did it. That would be successful for me.

Hey ROBININVEGAS....welcome back MOUNTAINS2CLIMB

....when it comes to food ...I can just dive in with the program.
When it comes to exercise...I can do 10 minutes at a time.
We do what we can ...then build up. When you think about it, the extra weight makes us work harder. And there are some great videos here at spark...so we have variety. I like the ZUMBA video they featured on youtube. I posted it in the fitness section.

I just came back from the supermarket and managed to stay strong (I stared and the ice cream like a puppy). I bought 4 containers of PLANTERS unsalted peanuts and saved myself $10 and umpteen calories. I FEEL GOOD. I joined a challenge that begins Saturday...I'd like to take off 11 pounds before Xmas. That would be a great present to me.

Hi Sheryl,
I am in exactly the same situation, I just restarted SP, I have not worked out in over 2 years. I went walking for the first time in forever on my break at work I get 17 minutes. I walked about 13-14 of it and felt like I had done a marathon. My knees hurt, my legs hurt my breathing was labored. It was so hard, I took so much for granted when I was able to exercise before. But I am also mroe than 100 pounds overweight now, so that is different. So maybe we can encourage each other to be more physically active, especially knowing we feel better when we are. I am doing it baby steps, one walk yesterday leads to one workout today etc. So I am commiting to do one walk on one of my breaks today, how about you?

Still sleeping in the recliners. It's getting old fast. And our neighbor across the street has been cutting on this really bright light in her livingroom window, to show off her Virgin Mary statue, but the light shines right into our house, lighting up the whole livingroom all the way down the hall. And she leaves it on all night. So today I said enough was enough, so I took 2 dark sheets and put them across our drapes to block the light from her house. It darkens the livingroom enough we'll be able to sleep a lot better. And the first of the month I'll buy the material to make dark drapes for the livingroom. This has been going on for a LONG time and Bob gets so mad about it. She has the right to burn what lights she wants. She did keep it off for awhile because I told her we were sleeping in the livingroom, but she said I really needed to get dark drapes ( so that told me right there she'd be going back to turning on that light). I can't do anything til the first so the sheets have to do. It looks ugly from the inside but you can't really tell it from the outside. And we'll sleep better. I don't think Bob will be sleeping in the bed all night anytime soon. He only managed 1 hour last night.
Anyway, hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday.

Last couple of days, I've been real active, lots of yard work, roller skating, and walking around the neighborhood. There was a bear sighted 3 blocks from our house this week. We first learned about it when a lady come running out of her house to warn us in the middle of our walk. Conservation office and police were all over the place. Then we got to see it on the news. It was filmed just a few minutes before we walked by that house. Glad we didn't see it up close and personal. Did motivate us to pick up our pace though. emoticon

I was disgustingly lazy today. Sat around and watched way too many episodes of Justice League with my son, did a tiny bit of yard work, grabbed a quick sandwich when hubby got home, then it was off to the Dollar movies to see Oz the Great and Powerful. I plan to do much better tomorrow.

Our local pool is not opening this year. Bummer, cause I love to swim. Glad you have a pool so you can still get some exercise in, even with a bum ankle.

After church, we had lunch at Olive Garden, then hiked nature trails, came home and I rode my bike, then took a walk around the neighborhood with my hubby...a perfect day.
