We all have things that we know we really should be doing, but for one reason or another we simply arenít doing them. What is your REAL reason? Not the reason you keep telling everyone, and maybe even yourself. What is the REAL reason? Be honest with yourself even if you dont tell anyone else. Just because I did not want to try to learn a new sport later in life we just do a lot of walking no matter what the season or where I am. Even mall walking counts.

What Kind Of Activities Do You Like To Do During The Winter Months????



We get lots of snow up in the mountains, so down hill skiing and cross-country skiing is popular. Taking the grandkids to the outside rink is always fun and then a cup of hot chocolate to warm us all up afterwards. DH and I love to go ice fishing with our Adult son on the weekends.

I know for a fact that if he would start doing something himself, I would be more motivated at times. It is hard for me when he is still laying in the bed to get up and get ready to go to the gym.. Thank goodness he has a job that he travels a lot, because when he is away, I have no problem getting motivated...

Well I do a variety of things, but the main thing is I do NOT go to any restaurant that I can't order something healthy. I eat a lot of salads out making sure that I order the dressing on the side, and now I have started asking for the cheese on the side as well, and no croutons.

I too rarely eat out but when I do, I try and avoid the bread on the table and make sure that I cut my food in half and then plan on taking at least half home.

I have a friend who discovered he had cancer and they did an emergency removal of his stomach. Dropped 60 pounds in less than 3 months...
2 years later he's fighting weight problems again.

Addiction to food is a big mental issue...the only way to change that equation is by changing your lifestyle.

Not sure why I have been missing out on this great thread. Would like to just jump in on this question and say that, in all honesty, the one who motivates me the most is ME! :) This is referring to having lost more than 100 pounds over two decades and for the most part maintaining that (with ups and downs) and for daily efforts to be and stay physically fit.

I have a lot of heroes and inspirations in life and even in fitness and weight management, but honestly I am my own chief cheerleader and motivator!

I have to admit, I think food is one of the best thing in life. I love food!!! I just need to learn to love it, without having to consume huge amounts. If we really think about it, after about 3 bites of anything, we really don't taste the food anymore. I need to learn to eat small amounts and savor them, to really enjoy them....

Oh that is a hard question for me.... I was sort of chunky, but not overly during elementary school, but then I had a Mother that believed you cleaned your plate. When I got into Junior High at age 13, my Mother then decided to make me join a Diet group similiar to Weight Watchers. I was the only kid going, and they started me on a 750 calorie diet. FOR A KID that is insane!! I then had to report in at home, and if I gained there was pure hell to pay, and if I lost that week, I got to come home to food that everyone else could eat, but I could not..We would go places like a baseball game, and everyone else could eat hotdogs and popcorn, but I was made to eat celery and carrots... It truly began my "sneak eating" habits. Oh I got thin, but it was never enough... I did learn to binge and starve, yeah.... By my 8th grade graduation I looked like a skeleton, but had not reached my "set goal" and yet it was not enough for my Mother.... So thru the years, I have lost and gained, lost and gained, and lost and gained... I come from overweight family members, so the genetics figures into it as well.... I worry about my Son for that reason, but I am finally getting it RIGHT!! I have found that I can eat normally and still lose weight, if I make good choices and get active. I has taken a long time to get over the hurts from my youth, but with God's help I will get there....
