1.Homemade oatmeal bread
2. homemade granola
3. hot cereal, using old fashioned rolled oats. Heat the water with a serving of chopped apple and a dried fruit (home dried without sugar) which is usually dark cherries. Sprinkle with flax meal, or chopped walnuts, almonds, or pecans. When I was working I'd heat the water and fruit, mix in the oatmeal, and put in a widemouthed thermos before I went to bed. It was cooked and still warm the next morning when I got to work. Also, no sticky pan (or burnt) to clean. I don't put any milk on it.

And oatmeal raising cookies are my favorite.

With fresh or frozen blueberries that I've hand picked myself before blueberry season is out.

I also like it with chopped banana, walnuts and cinnamon.

Lately I have changed from oatmeal to eating either cooked brown rice or barley with some nuts and dried fruits, fat-free half and half, and a teaspoon of but for flavor. It is a nice change and a little more texture and chew than oatmeal.

I love to make it into a porridge by adding sugar (and sometimes cinnamon) to flavor and adding warm milk to cool the oatmeal down just enough to not burn my tongue as well as give it a wonderfully creamy texture. Yum! ♥

I like the instant plain oatmeal, made with water...1 Tbsp brown sugar, 2 Tbsp dried cherries, and 2 Tbsp chopped pecans. Sometimes use fresh banana or fresh blueberries in place of the dried cherries.

oatmeal cooked on the stove with 1 tbsp craisins. I also tried it with a tsp of peanut butter once, but found it to be too sweet.

walkingred, Have you tried raspberries? I like them even better than the blueberries but otherwise it looks like we both like our oatmeal the same way only I use raw slivered almonds for my nuts. I also found a new gluten-free hot cereal that is providing some variety from my usual oatmeal. It is called Chia Goodness. I fix with the same toppings as my oatmeal!

I, too, am on a steel-cut oatmeal kick. I like to add a bit on cinnamon, a teaspoon of brown sugar, 1/2 an ounce of walnuts or pecans, and I throw in some frozen blueberries. The berries are tasty, healthy, and they cool the oats down a bit :)

I'm a big fan of Steel Cut Oats - Then I add 1/2 tsp brown sugar, 1 TBL sliced almonds, 1/2 cup skim milk and 1/2 cup blueberries. They take a little longer but you get 4 portions so you just microwave the other portions - I will also add flax seed or oat bran to it for a little extra fiber

serve with 1 tsp butter, 1 tbl craisins, 1 tbl blanched raw almond slivers, and 2 tbl fat free half and half. I eat 1 oz of lowfat cheese for some protein while I wait for it to cook in microwave.

Plain rolled oats prepared with just boiled water, sliced banana and cinnamon.

Another tip for those also with a massive sweet tooth: healthy banana cookies

Simply cook it in the microwave. Takes about a minute. I add some fresh/ dried fruit, yogurt, honey/ agave nectar and sliced almonds.

I've been making my boyfriend breakfast when I make my own each morning. It's no trouble doing the same thing twice and it means he is having something healthy and filling instead of a can of coke. ::shudder::

This morning was a half a pear with yogurt (cottage cheese for him) and a waffle with peanut butter. I add coffee.
