"green" smoothie this morning (goats milk, figs, parsley, kale, beetroot leaf, pb, chia seeds and home made granola). I am convinced Eve tempted Adam with figs not apples !!!

Figs were from my CSA box.

I was in a hurry today so I got starbucks but... instead of getting my usual sugar laden mocha I got a vanilla latte with cinnamon on top. The lemon raspberry loaf was definitely a misstep. I'll do better tomorrow. Already have a plan for oatmeal and herbal tea :-)

Breakfast was not healthy. Easter pancake breakfast at church is a tradition. My intolerance to starch and sugar made it difficult. I brought a protein shake with me and ate 1 sausage and 1/3 of a large pancake with strawberries and butter. After gastric bypass I have problems digesting starch and sugar.

I will eat much better the rest of the day. Holiday dinner will be a lamb loin chop and a salad with spring greens, lite blueberry feta and almonds, brown and wild rice pilaf, and summer squash with lemon pepper(steamed in microwave). Simple, elegant and satisfying. I wish I could find sugar free mint jelly but that is ok, I will still enjoy the lamb with some lemon pepper and garlic. I forgot to buy fruit yesterday for dessert. Maybe I will stop at the store and buy some berries.

Made a great shake with strawberries, grapes, frozen mango, pineapple and kale. Also had my usual bowl of whole grain cereal and skim milk, black coffee. I'm boring; but this keeps me satisfied until lunch (usually fruit, nonfat cottage cheese or yogurt). I enjoy eating this type breakfast; and I make it a little different by making a different kind of shake daily. The Vita Mix was one the best gifts my husband bought me!! I lost 45 pounds over a 12 month period by making sure I eat a filling breakfast EVERY morning. My present weight is 100 pounds; but I am very tiny (5'1" tall and small framed). I feel great at this weight.

I had a great breakfast today. A slice of lowfat cheese for my protein. A 1/4 to 1/3 cup brown and wild rice, tbl raw almond slivers, tbl craisins, 1 large strawberry sliced, 1 tsp butter and 1/3 cup fat free milk. I heated it all in the microwave. Everyone said it smelled and looked great! Filling and lots of nutrients with a small indulgence of the butter.

Every day without fail I eat a bowl of multi-grain flax cereal with skim milk, along with either a blended fruit or vegetable drink, made in a Vita-Mix. It keeps me satisfied and my energy level high until lunch. I know it sounds boring to eat the same thing every day; but it works for me.

Weekends I usually make eggs for my hubby and me. I make scrambled eggs, with some 2% fat shredded sharp cheddar. I add chopped broccoli to mine to get that vegetable in. Now I do 1 egg + egg substitute for each of us. This is new since joining SP when I was shocked to see my carbs and cholesterol tracking results! (During the week, just for me, I use 1 egg.) During the week I might have a cottage cheese (4 oz container). Just found a delicious Berry Smoothie yogurt at Trader Joe's last week, and will buy that more often. Another breakfast is Activia light. I'm cutting out the bread/toast because of my carbs.

NOTHING tastes as good as thin/healthy feels.

Sometimes I have dinner for BKFT. This is the most important meal of the day. I like to try new ideas and foods too. I especially enjoy fruits and veggies! I'm such a busy person with many local and global projects. Sorry if I'm not able to comment too often, but I believe if you set your mind to doing something that you love you can do anything.

This is THEE hardest meal of the day for me. I am never hungry when I get up. I find that if I wait about two hours then I can eat something light like yogurt but that is about it. I have even considered buying little jars of baby food because my stomach just does not want anything other than foods that are soft in the morning.
Sounds like a weird idea maybe but if it is good for babies, why wouldn't it be good for adults?

Take Care Now! Kristy

I ate the same thing that I have been having everyday this past week: An egg white sandwich ala me. I choose some kind of roll (today it was a mini portuguese roll) with a laughing cow light chipotle wedge as a spread, egg whites (cooked with Pam), one slice of american cheese, and a sliced tomato (which I de-seed before slicing). I usually sprinkle salt and pepper and dry sweet basil on the tomato and voila! Super delicious and satisfying! I find that even when I skip the american cheese it's still satisfying, but the slice kinda holds the sandwich together and keeps the tomatoes from sliding out as easily. My breakfast today, including 2 coffee servings with splenda and 1% milk, came to: cals 363 carbs 39 fat 11 protein 26. I find that being consistent with what I eat for a week or two helps me to stick to it :)

I had pearl barley, tomato and vegetable soup with wholemeal toast and low fat Philadelphia herb and garlic cream cheese, followed by Mocha made with 1% milk, 1 tsp cocoa and coffee.
I had the vegetable soup because I am on a challenge to eat lots of vegetables this week for Spirited Underdogs team on the Winter 5% challenge. It was low in calories and I did not have my usual snack mid morning as I was too full. I had a high protein breakfast, because I did some strength training.

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. " - Michael Jordan
