If you are looking for a marathon that you don't have to worry about a time cut-off for, you may want to consider Hatfield-McCoy in West Virginia/Kentucky (starts in one state and finishes in the other). There is no cut-off. David Hatfield, the race director, will stay out there ALL DAY LONG until the last finisher crosses the finish line.

Awesome race, awesome people, and honestly, one of my favorites. I plan to go back every year!

I know how you feel, that's why I have not ventured into a full marathon yet. Even if the course stays open 6-7 hours (which is what I'm guessing I'd need right now), I don't know that I really WANT to be out there that long.

The Transcendence sounds interesting, but I'm not sure I'm quite up to being out there 12 hours even if it is on a loop with support!

Wow!

I keep toying with the idea of doing a marathon, but I know I'm going to be sloooooow and the course would be closed long before I finished.

I was looking at doing the Transcendence in Olympia, WA next year. You going around a 1.5 mile loop for 12 hours. I like the idea of not losing the support due to my slowness, but to be able to see how far I really can go.

I've done one double, which got me my 4th Maniac star. Haven't gotten brave enough to take on a triple or the quadzilla yet... maybe one day.
It's definitely on the bucket list.

Yup, back to back long runs with supporting weekly mileage and an easier pace on race days.

We ended up only doing the one. I'm really not sure how you train for something like that except to do some back to back long runs to get used to the stress out would put on your body.

I am planning on doing this this year. I have to figure out how to train for it. Did either of you end up doing it?

I would think so! We have been thinking of doing the Seattle 1/2 and would like to squeeze in another 1/2 or two before the year is over, this would sure fit the bill. Now whether we'd be able to walk afterward, that's another matter!

I'm already doing the Seattle 1/2, might do the Widdle Waddle (I just love saying that....)

If I buy the sweatshirt that means that I definitely have to do it next year....right???
