I weighed in this morning and I'm down to 180! I don't know whether to be happy because I'm dropping or sad because I'm happy with that amount! LOL Think I'm leaning more and more to the happy part. My clothes are fitting the same as last week it seems though. My body must just be weird...guess that means it matches my personality then! LOL Go SP Motivators! emoticon

Sweeteyes - That must have been so hard. I wish I had some magic words to make it easier. All I can do is repeat the advice that has been given to me and that I read. Muscle weighs more then fat, so even if the number is higher then you were hoping for, don't assume that means that you haven't been losing weight. The more muscle you have, the more fat it will burn doing everything you normally do. Personally I see this has a good thing, it means that even if I don't work out as much as I would like, the extra muscle is burning more fat then before I had it so that's something. Also, remember how you were talking about your cloths fitting? That's a sign of how your progressing. I know alot of people have turned to measuring instead of weighing in to track their progress because of the muscle weighing more. If I were you, I would try using measurements. Even if you don't replace the scale with measuring, having them can help you keep a eye on how things are changes. Again, remember that you have other things that you find important about getting fit. Maybe a good way to remind yourself is to set aside time each week to play baseball with your son? It might be kind of fun to be able to feel how much more you can do from week to week, but it's just an idea.

Personally I have lost around 7 pounds since I started. I started slow with just a small walk a few times a week and some food changes so I don't usually count the first week. If I do count it though, this is my 5th week. My goal is to lose 2 pounds a week, so I'm pretty much just where I want to be.

I am down 4 lbs sense joining SP. Still above where I should be for the 3-4 week mark. I didn't exercise the first 2 weeks as much as I do now. Hopefully it will move the scale more rapidlly now.

Confession: When I started this, almost a month ago, I wanted to loose weight to be fit and feel better about myself and gain momentum to keep up with my growing baseball player (son,9) and my beautiful, hardworking husband. I estimated my weight. BIG MISTAKE! I weighed 199 lbs at the beginning of last year and was a large 14 or small 16 in clothes. I didn't get the proposal I was hoping for over the Christmas holidays of 2010, so I was determined to focus on ME!

So I focused on my outside and inside. I worked on my patience by reminding myself that not everyone was raised with the same etiquette I was raised and not everyone I know (or will meet) graduated high school. I worked on my cooking abilities for my family (getting better every week there still and stay impressed with my compositions there!) Going well, but by May, 2011 I still wasn't what I should have been: skinny! I refocused how I ate and exercised way more (once a week wasn't cutting it...obviously). My husband, boyfriend of 5 years at the time, proposed to me just after my birthday in June. Wedding dress? Yes, time to work on that, too!

By August, 2011 I was down to a size 10 and was excited about getting to the 8 I wanted (size pre-son...who's 9 now, by the way). I was overdue to get some of the good "old me" back! So I slacked off a bit, but I maintained that 10. We were due to marry March 30, 2012 and during the month of March I stressed. Well, by the end of March, a size 10 was tight on me and I could tell my "stress" was being "eaten". I mulled that over for a few weeks.

At the end of April, I decided to give it my ALL and registered on SP! I made excuses about weighing in, so I guessed. Size 10 was loosening pretty good by then so I thought I'd guess my weight: 165 anybody? OH NO! Not even close! I finally weighed myself last week and I weighed 187 lbs! Yep, I walked all the way across the Publix parking lot (because of the parking 5 spaces away goal) crying!!! Crying! I know I have slimmed a bit since I started because of how differently my clothes are fitting, so I'm figuring I weighed 189 when I started at the end of April.

So Thursday night I ate at Chili's and ate a southwestern eggroll and some chips and salsa and almost a half of the smokehouse burger (sadly that's where I got most of my protein that day!). I drank unsweet tea with no additives, but afterward I felt so guilty I consumed less than a thousand calories on Friday. I was too depressed to even want to look at food!!! (Cripes this is long! Bless you for reading this!) So I'm tears now and planning to weigh in this Thursday hoping I lost at least a lb between the added steps and activity. 187 lbs!!!! It seems so far away from my ultimate goal of 135!!! I could almost scream! I wish us all luck and motivational emotions and productive perseverance!

I'm down 4.9 pounds this week, which makes up for last week's 0.9 pounds (I did everything the same both weeks) for a total of 18.5 pounds. If the scale gets stuck for you just keep on working at your program and the scale will move eventually!

Liz, the scale certainly isn't the only indicator of how we're doing. I love your attitude!!!

Congratulations to those who saw the scale move downward. I was happy to see it move down 1.8.

Have a great week everyone!

If you go to your start page, then look in your goals & progress box, below your pounds lost there is a link to "change goal." You can update your ticker there and it won't change any of your other stats unless you want to.

I am down a total of 11 pounds since I started dieting about a month ago. I cant seem to get spark to let me add my starting weight though. I had already lost some when I signed up on spark. It would be more encouraging to see my total wieght loss on here.

I've lost 12.7 pounds! I know that a lot of it is water weight and that this coming week should be a much more reasonable loss. I just jumped in with both feet, walked and tracked every day, and stopped eating without thinking. Just last week I was an out-of-control emotional eater stuffing herself full of cookies. I had so much more protein and MUCH less sugar this week and I feel great. My take away lesson from this week is that sugar is not my friend and I need to consider limiting it just to feel better. I think I'll start a new thread so we can share little things we learn that might help others along our journey here together.

I lost 3 lbs in my first week. I take it as a sign of how un healthy I was eating. All I've changed this week it counting calories so I'm more picky with what I eat. I'm excited.

My weigh-in day is Friday. Last Friday, I stayed the same weight. I am hoping for a loss this week. I think my body is taking a little time to re-adjust itself. Last night, I put on a pair of pajama bottoms that I haven't been able to wear for a few years, so I know my size is going down even if the scale isn't. My guy told me a couple times this week that he can see I'm getting slimmer. So even though the scale didn't move, I'm making some good progress and that makes me very happy. emoticon

I applaud those who don't feel the necessity to weigh themselves daily. The scale is just a tool, and like all tools sometimes it isn't right for the job. Water, exercise, and other factors can affect the scale and give you a false result. What really matters is how you feel. If your clothes feel looser and your energy is high, you have succeeded for the day/week/month. I personally weigh myself once a week but try not to be discouraged if the result isn't what I was expecting. I am down 1 pound so far. Good luck to everyone.

Okay, I have (miraculously) lost 3 pounds. This is amazing to me, because I've cracked a threshold I was stuck at for several months....

My goal for this week is to lose 1 pounds, and joined the 4-week bootcamp challenge to try to keep the momentum going.

Down 2 lbs from start...which is surprising, what with my weekend and all. :) I'm pleased with it.

Week 1: 214.0 lbs (Starting Weight)
Week 2: 210.5 lbs

So far, everyone's just chatted about the weigh in... I figured I'd start doing it. Right here. Since the topic is Weigh Ins... If we should create another thread/topic, I will follow that, but until then I'm trying to get the ball rolling.

What's your post week 1 weigh-in?

Oh NO! No booing here. I think that if you get discouraged by the scale, there is no reason why you should use it.
For me, I don't get discouraged by my weekly weigh-ins for me it just tells me if i need to work a little harder or if i am on the right track. Everyone is different though.
There really isn't a right or wrong way to do this weight loss thing. it is all good!

Ok. I'm probably gonna get booed for this, but I don't weigh myself. I find that if I have a scale in the house, I get too obsessed with daily weigh-ins, then I get discouraged if I happen to gain a pound, or if the needle just doesn't move. Instead, I rely on how my clothes are fitting, and how I feel. Anybody else do this?

I think it's a pretty good idea, a little peer accountability.

This is a good idea and would boost up the accountability factor for those members who are looking to lose weight.

When you add someone as a Friend, and when that friend weighs in, if they lost any weight, their weight loss will appear in your Friend Feed. When I see that one of my buddies lost a pound or 2, I always comment on their achievement with words of congratulations.

Members, what are your thoughts on this?
