Sounds like you are losing fat, but gaining muscle so it doesn't show up on the scale! As long as you are feeling great and clothes are getting looser I wouldn't worry!

Hi folks,
I enjoyed reading this topic. I too have hit a snag and am stuck. It's been four weeks now and I haven't lost any weight - according to the scale. But something is going on because my pants that I just bought one month ago are getting looser and looser. Also my arms are looking good - more firm muscle and less flappy flab so I must be coming ahead - it just doesn't show on the scale.

I also know I am eating healthier, I feel more energetic and I sleep so well at night - that is such a blessing because I have suffered with insomnia for so long. Over all I feel much younger than I did just 6 months ago.

So try not to get too discouraged when the numbers on the scale don't move. There are other ways of measuring success.

Let's hear of your non scale improvements and victories.

Have a good one.

At the end of the day, be able to look back and say "I did my best today."

It's a bad time for me to be losing weight... It's exam season so there's a lot of sitting around and reading notes instead of going out and appreciating the great outdoors. I wish there was a day I could still work out and study at the same time.

I was just taking a Weight Loss Myths and Truths SparkPeople Fitness Quiz and saw this explaination...

If you are doing everything correctly (counting calories, exercising) then you will see results within a week. MYTH

While some people lose a lot of weight in the first few weeks, others might not lose any weight for a few weeks. Although this can be frustrating when youíre doing everything right, itís not a reason to give up. Sometimes it just takes a little while longer to see the results of your hard work reflected on the scale. Many people lose a lot in the first few weeks, and then their weight loss slows down considerably. Itís totally normal to have weeks when you lose more than expected, and weeks when your weight remains the same despite your consistent efforts. Our bodies are very complicated and donít always cooperate with the estimates of how much we should expect to lose. People rarely lose a consistent amount of weight each week. Debunk this myth and more by reading 6 Weight Loss Mistakes to Avoid

hey yaw dont get to discouraged. sometimes mucle mass will build while the fat still burns. thats why the weight seems to stay the same at times. weight is important i know. but sometimes you still lose inches even though the wait might stay at times. dont give up though. keep on keepn on.

I thought there would be changes on my scale this time as my waiste seems smaller but only like half a pound change. I was wondering how you are doing this week. I can't remember what weight you were posted at but it looks like you lost??? I'm hoping for you! Smiles! Janet

Thank you all for the encouraging words, tomorrow i will weigh myself for my weekly weigh in, hopefully i will see some changes. I feel my clothes are getting a bit looser so maybe i am also losing some inches too. All the best to everyone else who has hit a plateau. I realized the more the weight refuses to budge the more determined I am.

My friends say maybe am genetically bound to be overweight. I want to prove them wrong.

I've been on a plateau for a few months. It's what drove me to start SP. I'm only a few days in, and just started food tracking today, but I'm pretty encouraged by this site. You're going to make it too!

I also had been at a stand still. I was dilighted this morning to see scale moved for me. Seems like our bodies get used to same calories and exercise then no change. Maybe throw in a monkey wrench to keep the body and motabolism guessing? Otherwise I just keep hope that at least I am eating healthier and body has a lot of rewiring to do.

Wishing you courage!
Smiles! Janet

Thanks for the encouraging words and good to know that i am not alone. I have decided not to weigh myself for several days and hopefully by end of like one week i should see some changes.
Good look too!

I have been in the same boat for the last 2 months. Only 2 days ago did my scales finally start to move again. For 2 months, I manipulated my diet and exercise routine to no avail. Earlier this week, I was soooo frustrated. Then my kids started softball and I wasn't able to go to the gym for 2 days in a row. Amazingly...the scale started moving again. Not sure how that happened, but it did, and I am thankful and now motivated again to go get some results. It will happen for you too...don't give up!!!

Hi, I started counting my calories on 1st March and making healthy choices on my meals, i do aerobics every other day and my job involves walking a lot. But since i started to make these changes i haven't dropped even half a pound. Its very frustrating not to see any results. Wonder if there is someone else in the same predicament?
