This en a great find for me. I started the sparkteam on Monday the 5th and have kept up with everything I ate each day and with the exercise I did each day. So far I have been able to stay within the guidelines for calories consumed, but I can't seem to get enough exercise. It is disheartening, but I also know I have a very long way to go. So, I am trying to not get discouraged by the lack of exercise. I do as much as I can each day, but with all this extra weight it puts a lot of strain on my ankles and calfs.

I went to a birthday party for my GF's grandmother's 75th birthday and ended up overeating and eating TWO pieces of cake today. I physically felt like crud afterwards and know that is not something I can do again. I dreaded going to the party because I knew it would be hard to not overeat.

Does anyone know why even when you follow the nutrition plan exactly that there are days that it says you fell just short of the days calorie goal or other nutrition goal?

Who says you can only make resolutions on New Year's Day? I made my resolution to finally get fit before I turn fifty on February 29th. I liked the significance of turning over a new leaf on Leap Day. I signed up for a two-year membership at the gym on Leap Day and have gone four times this week, logging 13.5 miles on the treadmill and did weight workouts twice. Don't know if the scale will show anything when I weigh myself on Monday, but I won't let it discourage me if it doesn't. I know I made healthy changes and that's all that matters.

Well here I go time to finish up what i started last year. I have had huge life changes in the last 16 months. My husband passed away, I moved to Tucson AZ. and now looking to remarry by the end of the year...Life has been one big CHANGE! But in the middle of it all I lost 60 pounds on my own, and started running 4 days a week. I have learned that nothing can hold me back only me.... And that's not going to happen!

So I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and make is journey with you. Have a great rest of the weekend...

Hi everyone:

Just so everyone is on the same page, we have what is called a "DAILY CHAT" under the general team discussion forum in our team (this room). I would ask that everyone posts how their day, week, etc. or any other news they have to share be posted in the DAILY CHAT instead of opening up a new topic every time you want to reach out to the team and give us your news. It just makes thing easier to keep track of, doesn't make our page so convoluted and slow. I'm sure everyone would like to know how the members are doing.

Also, if you have any questions, post them here too because if you are asking, maybe another team member is also wondering and you would be helping each other out.

Hey I just want to say congrats on taking the first step. I just started this past Monday and I'm super glad that I did because sitting at home and munchin on sugar has got me where I am today, but NO MORE for me either!! Hi all! Day 1 for me. I have already measured out all my food for the day, have laundry going and now I'm ready to watch some golf. My plan is to ride my exercise bike at least twice while watching golf.

Usual weekend chores for me including exercise and working on finishing my top cupboards in the kitchen. I hope to have those all done and installed in the kitchen. It will be weird to have doors to open again when I've been without them since last June, LOL.

Sunny, but not very warm here. I'm hoping though that the snow will all be gone by the beginning of April :)

I too would like to know how to put that weight tracker into my messages. Can somebody explain how to do it ???

Another good day. I ate within my calories, and had a blast with zumba cardio party. When I looked at my journal of food, all I can say is WOW did I eat alot! All good food, veggies, fruits, fish. It is amazing how much of all that you can eat and feel great. Now I need to figure out how all of you get the current weight on your message.

30 minutes at the gym is nothing to sneeze at. Good job !! Even @ 30 mins. if you do that 3-5 times a week that is a great start. We all have to start somewhere.

Friday, and a beautiful one here in the Oregon valley today. I got home from work and instead of the usual flopping on the couch I took the dog outside to enjoy the sunshine. I also went to the gym today and worked out. I only stayed 30 minutes but just going was the BIG success.

IWILLRUN2, I hope you made it out for that run today. I was very tired today and really did not want to go to the gym. I got there, and after 10 or 15 minutes, I was into it and stayed for another 50 mins.

Over here in Spain it is late evening and I am pleased to have gotten in a great walk. Pleasant temperature. Just to get me into the mood to enjoy the weekend, get in plenty of exercise, try out some new receipes, take a look at the health store and read some labels so as to take care of my "forbidden foods". Which pedometer do you have that you can keep in your pocket and it works? I've ordered the Omron HJ-112 which supposedly works really good and you can also put in the pocket. I hope it's true :) Enjoy your walk/run.

Good morning everyone:

I'm so glad it's Friday. It's been a long week as work is extremely slow which makes for long tiring days.

Yesterday, my evening was totally different than what I had planned. I got home with a sore stomach, so decided to go nap a bit. I got up 1.5 hours later, had supper and decided to forego exercise and watch the taped TV episodes. During the week, I watch very little TV as I'm always so busy. I also didn't go on the computer at all. It felt good for a change.

Sol, you are probably not doing anything wrong. It will take your body some time to adjust and a weight gain can be anything from too much sodium and a water gain to a bowel movement, etc. It doesn't particularly mean that it is fat. Just keep within your calorie range, exercise, drink all your water and it will move the other way.

Good morning everyone:

I got up this morning, weighed in (gained 1 lb.) and I was okay with this. I may have put my weight loss too low as my Wii tells me differently from what I have put in my head as my goal. I mean I reached that goal before, but maybe it was too ambitious. I'm happy me with my body the way it is. I mean, I don't like my stomach, but then again I will probably never have a flat tummy like 20 year olds right, LOL. My clothes fit good, I look good and I am healthy which should be the most important part. As for what I am eating, I will eat what I want, but in moderation and not panic.

Welcome to all the new members. One step at a time and you will get the hang of this site and your new lifestyle in no time at all :)

It sounds like you are off to a good start and have found the right place to get support and help. I too am beginning a new way of life, after almost 30 years of caring for and nurturing others I am now learning that the best way to care for them is to care for me so I'll be around for all of them for many years to come. Today is the beginning of a new way of life. I had my screening today. And although my cholesterol was 224, my trainer said exercising and loosing weight will help. My HDL was 65, Tgl were below normal and my ldl was 130. She said my ratio was 3.5 which is below what they consider to be heart disease risk. She did my measurements and checked my glucose which was 82. So, I feel good about it all and in 3 months I will let you all know how I did through my first 12 weeks. I ate healthy today and exercised.

Good day here !! I did have a few extra snacks today but they were healthy ones. so I will have a smaller dinner so that I don't go over my calorie goal for the day. I just got back from the gym, spent an hour on the bike and it was my 4th day in a row of working out at least 45 mins.

My day is going pretty good.

I'm happy to be here at Sparkpeople and getting started in the right direction at least :o)

I agree the tools are GREAT! I'm weighing in once a week.. Not sure which day it will be yet though..?

One continual ongoing frustration I seem to have unfortunately is.. Loneliness. I live waaaay out in the country and I recently quit my job.. So I'm alone most of the day.

I need buddies, accountability, and mutual support. May sound cheesy, but besides the great tools, that's also what I'm looking for.


I'm definitely here for the long haul, so if you need a buddy- let me know

I'm really enjoying all the tracking tools on SP. I was using my IFit Live account to track calories but it was such a pain and it doesn't have any cool graphs like on SP. I'm definitely going to be doing it on here from now on.

My weigh-in days are Saturdays. What about everyone else? I keep wanting to hop on the scale, but have to remind myself not to til Saturday... Since I'm aiming for at least 1 pound a week, that's just not something you can see by getting on the scale too often. So I definitely want to hold off til Saturday.

Good morning everyone:

So, my Wii last night that my bad weekend of eating way too many calories caught up with me. It told me that I gained 2 lbs and I know that the sub and Nutella toasts and BBQ peanuts all added up to this. I am back on track now.

Byrd - It takes a while to get used to thing and new habits, so good for you for having that apple this morning. Breakfast is a VERY important part of this healthy lifestyle. Have a great day!

today is day too of my new life, yesterday was not so good, but today is looking bright, I started out with an apple and some 1% chocolate milk, and im ready to start my day.

Good morning everyone:

WOW, where does the weekend go? It goes by way to quickly for my liking.

My legs were extremely sore yesterday, so I'm wondering if I am doing too many leg exercises. I have to find a balance in that. Tonight will be Wii Strength Training only and give my legs a break till tomorrow. I also find they are becoming too lean, so........anyway, I'll figure it out.
