I can't give advice this week, I have failed every day while on vacation. emoticon

Perhaps, after you have your nasal problems solved, you will feel much better and be able to get back on track. It is not easy when you don't feel well. I know that when I get a migraine, I tend to cheat more.

Keep trying to stay positive. emoticon emoticon

Thanks BESTCATS. Apparently I have a cyst in my nasal cavity that is applying pressure to various spots in the cavity and it's causing the dizziness and exhaustion with headaches. I go to a specialist in 2 weeks to decide if surgery is the answer.

So this week I had 2 really great days (Monday & Tuesday) but by Wednesday I was flailing. Thursday I flat out fell off the wagon completely.

Hopefully I can redeem myself today.

Don't give up, Nicole. If you continue to get tired so easily, you may want to check with your doctor for some blood work to see if there is anything else going on.
It also could be the combination of food that you are eating, because you did have an amazing week before. emoticon emoticon

Ugh...it's been a difficult week. I'm having a hard time eating healthy and I've had no energy to work out in the evenings. I barely stay awake enough to make dinner each night. What's so frustrating is that I had such an amazing week last week and I've tanked so quickly. It's discouraging.

I officially want to let go of the first 1/2 of this year with all the bad decisions, over-eating, emotional eating and self-destructive behaviors.

GOOD BYE and GOOD RIDDANCE!

I know we all like to make excuses for what we do, but really it's our decision. We either make the right choice or we make the wrong choice !!

My only excuse right now is that I want to eat all the wrong things. It sounds like you are having that same problem, Nicole !! My only saving grace is that I did reach my goal weight a year ago, and try to stay within 5 lbs. of it, so if I cheat it doesn't hurt m as much.

Nicole, I can't tell you how to change your way of thinking or the urges you are having right now. I can just suggest that you try to keep it to a minimum ~ if there is such a thing as chat a little. emoticon

Keep up on the exercise, that will help keep you from gaining . Good luck sweetie. emoticon

I'm completely self- destructive right now. Not sure what the heck is going on. I fight with myself 85% of the time I'm awake over what I want to eat and what I should eat, what I should be doing vs. what I want to do. Not sure if it's getting close to "that time of the month" or what! I mean, for most women I would say I'm definitely due but I'm not "normal" in that way.

I can't say much, I gained 5 lbs. last week, that's why I decided to get back on track with the diet I used to lose the weight in the first place. Lost 3 lbs. already.

Nicole, take baby steps. If you need to, learn to be happy on 1600 or less per day. You will still lose weight with exercise, and you do exercise. When you are comfortable with that, then take it down a notch by replacing some of your high carb foods with foods that have less ~ like more fruits and veggies.

Make sure you have some type of fruit with every meal, and eat something about every 3 hrs. That's what I save my fruit for. Drinking water also helps fill you up, so drink up !!

You need to find what works "for you". We are not all the same. emoticon

So yesterday I decided that if I wanted to lose 5 pounds in June that I had to reset my goals. Currently I have a mini-goal to reduce my calories to 1600/day as much as possible. That's a lot, I know. But considering it was only a few weeks ago when I couldn't get below 2000/day - it shows lots of improvement.

Well, when I plugged in my goal (5 pounds lost in June) it came up with a maximum calorie range of 1400. Now, I'm STRUGGLING to get to 1600 and the thought of having to scrap off another 200 calories/day sent me over the edge. I had the worst day I've had in a long time!

I decided today that maybe I need to get the 1600 goal mastered first before I go down any further. It sucks because I really want to do better, but I can tell by my reaction and subsequent binge that I'm not ready for it yet.

I certainly hope they will. His mood hasn't been as good lately. I can see he's not as happy as when he knew he had her to chat with or just generally feel like he had someone who cares about him and that he cared about. Now, he's grumpier and sullen. Add to that school is winding down and I get about 10 texts a day now about how he's bored or he hates being at school, etc.

On top of it, I'm plateuing again. 3 weeks at the same weight in spite of really trying to increase my workouts. I've DOUBLED my work out time and calories burned in the last three weeks and still no change! I'm trying to decrease my calories but I'm having a difficult time - about 2 days a week I crash and go over by 300 calories or more. I can't seem to get myself together!

Oh, the trials and tribulations of being a Mom !! It is good, though, that he wants to talk to you. He obviously has confidence and trust in you.

It's funny that you mention being up late, but still have to go to work. We were talking about that earlier today, how the young people of today will take the next day off if they have to be up late. We went to work even if we didn't have any sleep.

Keep the faith, things will work out !!

You're right again, BESTCATS. I know it's not just me...that others deal with the ups and downs of life similarly. I get that. I just don't want it to be like that. I hope someday it will get better.

Last night my oldest son's "girlfriend" broke up with him. He woke me up at 12:00AM to talk about it. So I lost an hour during the middle of the night. I feel badly for him and I know whatever I said doesn't make it hurt any less. Unfortunately, I'm exhausted today (just feel asleep at 11:00PM and had to get up at 5:30 this morning) and my projection will take me well over the 1600 calorie limit I have as a goal. Darn it!

Nicole, it is so much easier said than done. Stress can do many funny things to us.
Even if I'm not stressed, if I get lazy and get it into my mind that I want to eat something different, my mind usually wins !! That's why I have been doing so badly this month.
It has been a busy week, and my exercise is little or nothing. Exercise was the only thing keeping me from gaining more than I have. Ugh !!

You have much more stress in your life than I do now.

I am trying to set up our menus to begin the Mediterranean diet again. I just can't seem to get motivated, but I need to for hubby's sake !!

You're absolutely right BESTCATS. emoticon

So yesterday my son had me in such a tizzy that I ended up scraping all my plans and ordered dinner from a restaurant (which of course I ordered something delicious but not good for me in almost every way) and just laying around for the night. I felt horrible. I hated the way I felt but I let him dictate my mood and then I gave myself into it. Why? Before bed I told my husband that I hate that I allow this to happen. I know I would have felt much better had I actually eaten properly and then maybe went for a walk. But I didn't. I have to stop allowing my son's moods to influence my mood. But that can be easier said than done. Ugh.

I don't have to worry about it at work, but have to NOT buy any junk food at the store.
I still don't have "willpower" if it is around. I bought some ice cream, and just wasn't happy until it was all gone. A serving size 1/2 cup. Yeah, right !!!!

I know the feeling all too well! LOL!

Yesterday I was so pumped to do well and then someone brought in donuts for a birthday celebration and I totally screwed up royally! Why do I let donuts and the weather (it was a really nasty day here - cold, gray and raining all day) get the better of me???!!

No, I actually haven't. But I should look into them. That may be a nice compromise and have me feeling less guilty.

Today I was so lightheaded I made the mistake of purchasing some munchkins. "I"ll just eat one or two and that will help me to feel better" I said. 6 munchkins later I have a tummy ache and I feel dumb for thiinking I could control myself around them. What was I thinking??!!

It is hard, but just let them know how hard you are working, and that dessert would only undo what you have done, and you don't want to have to lose those pounds all over again.
That's what I'm doing after what I ate on the weekend. emoticon
I think they would understand. Have you tried any of the SP desserts, that are easy to make and pretty good ?

You're so sweet, BESTCATS! Thank you!

Last night my parents came over for dinner - I've noticed when they're around, I usually go over my calories and fat. They "push" dessert all the time. They expect it all the time too. I've got to start finding ways to circumvent dessert when they're around!

Good news - the eating is getting a LOT better lately.

Bad news - it's my T.O.T.M and I'm not in the mood to jump/run/walk. I don't feel like doing anything when I get home other than crash on the sofa. Luckily, this only lasts for maybe 4-5 days and I'm on Day 3 already. I can't wait for it to be over so I can get back in the game.

Nicole, I don't know, but I can guess from your other blog, that you are "stress" eating.
I'm not under that kind of stress anymore, but when I do have something on my mind that stresses me out, my "go to" food is candy. And sometimes I just find an excuse to eat some candy, and hate myself when I gain the weight back.

They now say that eating that late night snack isn't anymore harmful than eating any other time of the day ~ it is all digested the same. It is a combination of what you are eating all day.
I don't keep track of my carbs, fat, protein, etc. separately, I try to eat sensibly, and within my calorie range. Remember, it is easier for me ~ I'm retired, and nothing else to worry about.

Just try to make small changes like removing one "no" food a week, or until you get use to not having it. It's kind of like trying to quit smoking, but I know emoticon

And yet, here I am again. A few weeks have gone by and yet my problem is still the same. I'm consistently going over my calories, fat and carbs and barely squeaking by on protein. I would say I'm still over 5 days a week. Even when I can see that I'm going to go over, it's not a deterrent. I still eat that last snack of the night. WHY?

Nicole, it is much easier for me to stay on track because I am retired, no children living at home, and no one to answer to except myself. When I was working I didn't do so well because I was always to tired when I got home, and hubby did most of the cooking~ quick easy stuff that was not always healthy. My hubby is very overweight, so now I am trying to keep him on track.

Stop beating yourself up, you have lost a lot already, so maybe you are just bored with the food you are eating. Rethink what you are eating, and try to stay active. It may take longer, but baby steps will still see you losing weight.

Just keep telling yourself emoticon

You'll get there BESTCATS. I know how "off" you can get from going to all those doctor appointments...it's draining.

Quite frankly I'm sort of upset with myself that I haven't had a better grip on my food intake. Sometimes I swear I'm not even trying. What is my problem?

I hope we are done with doctor appointments for awhile, so we can get back to our gym and eating routine.

Gained weight again this week. Ugh. I know I haven't been totally great but I didn't think I'd gain a whole pound.

Thanks for the support (again) BESTCATS! Yes, I won't let it come between my hsuband and me. Trust me - if that's what would do it, we wouldn't have ever gotten married in the first place! LOL!

I'm complaining today because I was so exhausted last night that I didn't work out. Oh well. Today I'm taking some vacation time from work in the afternoon to get some chores done and work out before we have to go to our friend's house tonight for dinner.

They will, Nicole. My husband is a step-father to my son, and we have one too. He has been in his life since he was about 3. They had their moments, but not as often as my son and I had ours. At 16 they do think they know-it-all, and they think they can get their own way if they yell and scream. I applaud your husband if he steps in when your son is being rude and disrespectful to you. It will blow over !!

I'm glad my boys are grown, and have children of their own. Now they know what it's like.
I don't think I could do it today ~ I still believe in spanking (not at 16), and feel there is a difference between a spanking and abuse.

Don't let it come between you and hubby.

If you haven't failed, you haven't lived !

I look forward to meeting you there BESTCATS!

I'm ashamed to say that my husband and my 16 yo got into a major argument this mroning before work/school and I keep thinking about it and it makes me sick. I hate seeing them argue like that. My 16 yo has a big mouth sometimes and really struggles to understand how his words and attitude affect people (especially those who love him). But my husband usually stays out of it (he's his step-father) but occasionally it builds up and he can't help himself. Especially when my son is being rude or disrespectful to me. But my son only thinks my husband hates him so no matter why he was being yelled at this morning, he'll only come away with "he HATES me"...which is not true.

I just needed to let go of that as much as possible and move on with my day. I'm hoping my son and husband will be able to do that as well.

It is attitude, not circumstance, that makes success possible in even the most unlikely conditions.

Bad last few days for me too, but not as late and stressful as yours. I haven't been within my calorie range for 4 days, and I really need to get back to eating right because I really feel awful. I did walk with the dogs some while away, but didn't do any exercise today, and now my back is killing me. Probably sitting to much playing on the computer.

Oh well, back to the gym tomorrow, and back on track with my eating, I hope !!

Nicole, catch up on your rest, and you will get back on track too !! I'll meet you there.

Still working on reigning myself in - today seems particularly successful. That's good as far as my consumption is concerned. HOWEVER, exercise was something i really wanted to get in today and it's just not going to happen. So tired today (partially because I forgot to take my synthroid), but also because having my in-laws in town is KILLING me. Late nights, extra wine and just a different schedule is exhausting me.

Yup !! I know the feeling. That's why I can't have things like that in the house. I can't eat"just one" unless it's one bag. emoticon I proved that over Easter & gained 4 lbs.

I have been doing pretty well this week, but we leave Thursday for a couple of days. Going away for hubby's 70th birthday (Wednesday), and for what we are paying at the Inn, I probably won't be very good ~ want to get my money's worth. emoticon Had to find a nice place that would take dogs, because we travel with our Schnauzers.

There is hope for you Nicole. You will get through this bad time, and things will get easier. THINK POSITIVE !! Enlist your family to help you, and keep as much of the "bad" stuff out of the house that you can.

PLEASE don't give up on yourself. You have done so well !!

I think I'm WORSE than my kids! I actually WANT a tempting snack at night. It used to be a 100 calorie slim-a-bear ice cream sandwich and it's now evolved to higher calorie/fat/carb snacks.

And my nutritional goals have been in the crapper all week because of it.

Nicole, one day won't make the rest of your life. Don't fret, just get back to the lower calorie snack. Do you like grapes ? That's my "go to" food, especially late evening. A cup of grapes is about 62 calories, and that with a glass of water is very filling. How about strawberries ?
They are even less.
I also buy rice cakes, and 1 or 2 of those with 1 tbsp. of peanut butter is a reasonable late night snack.
Of course, I don't have children at home, so I don't buy all those "tempting" treats. emoticon

Thank you BESTCATS. I am feeling TONS better since the root canal. I still have to go back for additional work but I'm sure it won't be as bad since the really bad stuff is over with already.

My venting for today is that I was SOOOO good all day yesterday and really was in line to stay within my nutritional ranges but then we went out for dinner at 7 and I knew I was going to be close. Well, I ended dinner with approx. 10 calories, 2 carbs and 5 fat grams left in my nutrional range. I was pleased, but I knew I would need to eat something else (I always allow myself a treat around 8:30pm). So I knew no matter WHAT I ate I would go over. So what do I do??? I eat 2 Oreos and 10 animal crackers with milk. So I BLEW my near win totally out of the water! I used to have 100 calorie snacks at night - now I'm at 200-300 calorie snacks. I feel completely out of control!

Oh, Nicole, I'm so sorry for you. emoticon I do hope that it helped some, and that you are a little better than you have been.

I had a root canal many years ago, and said I would NEVER have another on. I remember they had to hit my tooth to break it, and I thought I was going to die !!!!! You are right, it is horrible !! You aren't the first to cry, and you sure won't be the last.....It is such a painful procedure, but it will be worth it when all is done.

Praying that things will be a little better, and all will be over with soon. emoticon

Ok - so I had the root canal done yesterday. It was HORRIBLE! I think part of it was that this has been going on for so long and I've had two procedures done to this tooth in the last two months and I was in a lot of pain, plus my husband is away and I feel lost without him. I actually CRIED while getting the anesthesia! What the heck??!!

So just when I think things are going to get back to normal - they tell me that my canals are filling with sinus fluids (how the heck does that happen??!!) and they can't finish the procedure until it heals. They packed my canals with meds and put a temp cover on the tooth. Now I get to go back in 2 weeks to finish this stupid thing! I'M SO SICK OF IT!

Sounds like it's time to sit down, and take a hard look at your goals. Perhaps you are making them to dificult to achieve right now. Do you have a realistic calorie range? Are you trying to go to low, to fast? I know you have been having some "mind set" problems too !!
Try eliminating one favorite at a time.

I know you CAN do it !!! emoticon

Attitude is everthing, Nicole.

I wish there was something I could say to help you, but there isn't. Perhaps this is something that will just run its course, and your mindset will snap back to wanting to do it.
Just try doing your best with your eating, and even a little exercise may keep you steady so you don't gain.
Are you sure you're not headed for a deep depression? If you feel that you are, please don't wait to seek help. You can do it !!

I really do feel like I'm jsut going through the motions. I log on, spin the sparkwheels but it means nothing to me right now. lately I've even stopped tracking food occasionally. I'll do it for a day then the next two or three days I won't. It's terrible. And the hardest part for me to accept is that I just don't seem to care. There was a time when it meant something. And it doesn't now. That's the scary part. I don't want to lose all the ground I've gained since I started my journey, but I seem to be doing everything in my power to gain weight back. And I'm not able/willing/concerned about doing anything to stop it.

I think you and Nicole need to get together. She has been having a hard time too !!

I have found, for me anyway, that if I don't buy any junk food, I am better off. The only things I have to snack on are things like strawberries, and grapes, and I only buy the Weight Watcher single serving cups, and am satisfied without eating a whole carton of ice cream.

I have to admit that I usually have a cheat day once a week, then hate myself because I gain 2 lbs. I want to know why it goes on so much easier than it comes off ????

I am really struggling with my eating... I eat well all day.. then I come home, and binge all night.... instead of being a closet drinker, I am a closet eater!!! I really think there is something wrong with me.. as I pull something bad to eat (or even just too much food) I think to myself.... "And this is why I can't lose weight" - but then instead of putting the food down, I just eat it any ways. I know that it's wrong, but I do it anyways. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF???

And I talked myself into working out yesterday (at home). I love the gym, but hate working out at home !!! Tried working with my pilates DVD, and it would have made for a very funny video. I have a hard time using the DVD's because it hurts my neck to try to watch how to do the exercise, while laying on the floor. emoticon
I find the challenges keep me motivated, and I know I can do at least 10 minutes a day...

Jenn, I know I could never be a teacher because of things like that. I would not be able to contan myself. Most of the kids of today and not taught respect, at home. If I ever said the things I hear kids say today, especially to my parents, I would have been picking myself up off the floor.

I've been carrying this one for a month now. I have several students in my class who are Dr. Who fans. One of them was telling a classmate about an episode where there are these creatures called the Silence. When you are looking at them, you remember them. As soon as you look away, you forget them...it's as if they never existed. Student B says "I wonder if people forget about them because they're fat."

Really? REALLY? He said it with me standing right there.

-Jenn

I read all of the articles and things they said, but I still think it is just as hard to keep it off, as it is to take if off~~~~I know it's a life change, but I also have a hard time giving up everything I love. It seems like if I eat "anything" I shouldn't, I gain weight. It can be very discouraging.
Those plateau's are a real pain, but little steps, can lead into bigger steps, and better results.

Ok, I have put on the 15 pounds I lost last year back on. I hate this. I am really struggling to lose even just one pound. Tomorrow is a new day and I can and will push through this. :) I am just so discouraged right now. The weather doesnt want to cooperate either.

I haven't been quite as bad as that, but have been having a hard time myself at no getting totally back on track. Last night we got Pizza Hut sliders and breadsticks. Something I hadn't had in a long time, and BELIEVE me, I am paying for it today. My stomach is in bad shape, and I feel terrible. I think someone is trying to tell me to GET WITH IT. emoticon

Okay, Nicole, what can we do to help you to get back on track, and care about yourself ?
You have done so well, we don't want to see it all go to "waist".

Start again, making small changes. My first suggestion would be to get rid of the soda, and get back to your water. Tell us how we can help !!!!

It didn't even make it home. I snuck it at the office. Worst part: I was hiding it from other people who knew I bought it for my son.

Things have just spiraled out of control. I'm completely out of control, haven't measured anything in days, I'm eating whatever I feel like eating which is mostly junk, I'm drinking soda, not drinking water, not exercising, and just generally not caring at all.

Bought my son a Valentine's Day mini-cake yesterday - ate half of it before I left work. Then had ice cream after dinner last night. I swear I'm my own worst enemy.

Girls, I think the problem is "winter blahs". We are all sick of the weather, we need some sunshine emoticon to lift up our moods. Just DON'T give up !!!!

Nicole, not being as disappointed is because you have already done such a terrifc job with your weight loss. Maybe you need some time away from everything to just have fun !!
I do think things can and will get better with warmer weather, and being able to get outside, and change up your routine. I know I'm looking forward to being able to get outside, and enjoy walking with my dogs. It's time to give yourself a NSV something ~ massage, a special evening out !!!
There is nothing wrong with you. Just read some of the other comments, and blogs, and you will see that many are going through the same thing right now. emoticon emoticon

If you haven't failed, you haven't lived !

Laugh, and the world laughs with you !!

Still struggling. Like ALL. THE. TIME.

Every day I wake up and hope for the best, I try to convince myself that I'm going to be better - get healthy and focused. And every day by 8:30AM I'm crashing. What worries me most of all is that I just dont' feel that disappointment as strongly as I used to. Like I'm just giving up. And I am giving up. I'm not even trying to convince myself to be strong...I'm actually talking myself into eating more junk and not working out. What the heck is wrong with me???!!!

I broke down today and I had a total binge day. It all started at 8:30 when I walked into the staff lunch room and there were goodies on the table... then it just continued downhill from there.

I am tired of having this attitude of "I lost weight so it's ok to eat". All it does for me is make me gain weight, which in turn makes me eat more, which in turn means I have to take it all off again. If I just kept it off I would stop having to take 1 step forward, 2 steps back and never getting anywhere.

Tomorrow WILL be a better day. I promise!!!

I'm sick of feeling broke all the time - financially and emotionally. Those two issues feed off of each other as well so it's becoming more and more difficult to break the cycle. I need to try something new and different to really shake things up...but I can't seem to get there. I'm tired of feeling like I can't find my way!

Upset with myself not about food (well, I'm under calories but ate too much chocolate but that's another story) but about relationships. I'm not healthy about them, and I need to build myself up in that part of my journey as much as I've built up my positivity and healthy habits.

Wow, what a jerk!! Sadly it sounds a lot like something my bf might do. He is well aware of my health concerns and me being very uncomfortable in my own skin at weighing this much (281 lbs for now) but every time I have a good workout or weekly weight loss, he brings home ice cream - a tub for each of us, and tries to drag me out to eat at all you can eat buffets. He works a labor job so he can eat whatever and burns most of it off. I even look at bad food and I gain a lb.

Its always so frustrating because they say they understand, losing weight is hard, and its something you really want to do, then - here have a piece of cake. "I support you all the way hun" - here's some chips and ice cream. emoticon

Im personally aggravated with myself tonight, because I had a very emotional day, and I am 100% an emotional eater. I gave in to eating a pint of sherbert ice cream. Not just a few spoon fulls, the entire pint. Oh, and then I had half a pack of crackers with peanut butter. . . . Normally I would feel better at least temporarily about things after eating like that, but tonight, I just feel sick. I wish I could just let it go, but knowing me Im going to beat myself up over it for a few days at least.

Thanks for this topic. I didn't think I was going to need it so soon.

We honored 35 employees with a catered luncheon for perfect attendance in 2012. We (the management staff) served the honoree's, fixed our plates, sat down, enjoyed lunch and chatted with everyone.

There's a reason why I said (to the management team) I would love to have a slice of strawberry cake but I didn't want to indulge because my birthday is Saturday and I will indulge on my day.

Everyone knows that I've been giving 100% on fitness and eating healthier, but one colleague took it upon himself to bring me a slice of that cake. ARE YOU SERIOUS????????? Since the plate has been touched, I obviously can't return it. There are 10 people sitting in front of me, saying it's so good, just give it a try. I KNOW it's good, I use to eat a slice twice a month!

There are times when you can talk until you are blue in the face and some matters of life just don't hit home to the people in which you are speaking to. I ate half the cake and tossed the rest.

I am angered, because this person is supposed to be my friend, but I forgot that he went WACKO after he lost 100lbs (the incorrect way). I am happy that he lost the weight, I disagree with the manner in which he lost it. He didn't consume more than 700 to 800 calories a day and worked out with the WII like there was no tomorrow. He is FULLY aware of my journey.

After lunch and the awards were presented, I spent 20 minutes cleaning the break room, wiping down tables, breaking down tables and putting the room back together. I was sweating like a pig when I was finished. I don't know if the sweat came from my disappointment in this person or work that I had done. I had to get a wet paper towel to wipe my forehead twice!

I walked 18 minutes this afternoon for the 3rd power walk of the day which helped me to cool off some. During my walk I remembered seeing this topic of discussion.

I have typed up what was eating at me and now I'll go smile in his face and invite him to join me for a one hour Zumba session. Just joking........I AM LETTING IT GO!

I have so much to do at work today that I hardly have time to check in. Plus, I feel like everyone's watching and judging that I'm online. Int he past two weeks or so I feel like it's getting worse.

I'm feeling disgusted that I can't seem to make any leadway on getting down below 158. I got down to 156 but this week was back up again. I've been stuck for so long and I lose a pound, gain a pound. Never really making any progress. It's so frustrating!!!

Occasionally I get in a funk. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Usually I just need a place to vent and get it out so I can let it go. That's why I'm creating this thread. If there's something bothering you, eating at you, or just annoying you - post it here! And then...LET IT GO.

No one should feel the need to comment on previous posts. This is just a space where you can be honest and get those bad thoughts, feeling, anxieties, and worries out in the open so you can move forward.
