So my ST goal last week was to stay within Calorie/Fat/Carb ranges for 4 out of 7 days. I exceeded my goal and ended at 6 of 7 days within ranges! WOO-HOO!

Yesterday was my son's 8th birthday party. We had it at a local family entertainment restaurant. We were there before and I had noticed this rock climbing wall. I wanted to try it but was too embarrassed to try. So yesterday before we left I wanted to make sure I was wearing something that would be helpful if I got up the nerve to go on the wall. I kept staring at that wall all afternoon. Finally my sister-in-law said "Let's do it"...I was shocked. Truth be told, I'm not sure that I would have done it if she didn't open that door. What's weird is that she's not one to do anything like that. So it was unusual for her to even suggest it.

Long story short - I did it. Overcame my fear of being strapped in with a crowd staring at my butt. Overcame my fear of being up that high. I didn't get all the way to the top - maybe 15' in the air. I was about 2' from the top when I lost my grip and gracefully repelled down the wall.

Best part of all - we both did it. Then my husband did it. Then my oldest son did it. It was awesome! And now we want to go and do it again! emoticon

I feel the same about my stationary bike, as you do about your DVD's. I have to talk myself into it. For some reason, I'm just not inspired to workout at home. I brought my bike out of the cellar, and keeping putting it in the living room in front of the TV when some of my favorite shows are on. It makes the time go by faster. Oh well, whatever works. emoticon

Weird thing: I haven't done one of my home dvd's in a few weeks and then when the weather changed for the worse I couldn't bring myself to use them. Generally speaking I like the dvd's and feel pretty good about using them. So over the last few days I've noticed that when I thought about doing a dvd workout I found myself getting worked up...anxious, nervous, and closed-off.

So last night I decided I needed to do one of them no matter how much I tried to talk myself out of it.

And I did it! I feel like I'm in a better state of mind now too. YAY!

You can do it BESTCATS! I KNOW you can! emoticon

A few short weeks ago I had to keep my jeans closed up using a rubber band because I could no longer reach the button through the buttonhole. I've worn my jeans two times this weekend already and not only could I button them, but they weren't cutting into my gut anymore either so they didn't look horrible with that nasty muffintop spilling over!

YAY!

Hopefully, you haven't gained to much, and it will only take you a few days to take it off.

I had one bad day this week. so we all do it, and we are going away for a couple of days the end of the week for hubby's 70th birthday. I probably won't be staying within my calorie range for that time. emoticon For what we are paying, I don't intend to starve.

Thanks Jenn! Good luck with the 5K. I must admit that it is addicting... Once you do your first one, you will continue to do them... That's how I started the 10K's (cause let me tell you that I never had any intention of ever running a 10K!!!)

I put away my scale for the week! It was liberating to not think about my weight for the whole week! I am kind of scared to weigh myself tomorrow at my weigh-in.... as I have not been tracking it day to day, I have no clue where I will be!

Also, I rocked my 10K run this morning- (actually 10.3K). The first time in my life that I have ever ran more than 10K!!!!

I had a great run today! I felt so good, I kept my pace per kilometer consistent through the whole run .... usually I go from about 7:12 per km to 8:30 per km over 6-8k. Today I only went from 7:14 per km to 7:44 per km! Also, this is the same run I did 2 weeks ago and I took over a minute off of my time!!!

Today was staff meeting day... and they usually supply a treat/snack to keep us there. Today's treat was an ice cream bar dipped in chocolate... and I resisted!!!! I ate my apple instead... and do you know what? It tasted good! it was a very sweet and tasty apple and I wasn't even craving that ice cream because the apple was so sweet!

Yay me!!!

It's been weeks...but yesterday I finally stayed within ALL my nutritional ranges! I didn't make the best choices (still ate two mini ice cream cones) but I was able to cut down significantly.

Kicked up my workout last night - I ususally do a Leslie Sansone WATP dvd (low impact) but last night I went back to my old dvds (Denise Austin) for a higher-impact cardio dance dvd...and I was able to keep up!

Success story: For the first time in a very l-o-n-g time, I completed 101 fitness minutes in a day! This happened yesterday. I took 3 power walks at work (12 minutes, 12 minutes and 18 minutes). I took another 12 minute power walk just before the high impact aerobics class.

Not only CAN I do it, I KNOW I can......that's success in my book.

When you don't expect temptations in the form of food they always magically appear! I treat myself to something at least once a week. I usually have my special treat on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Friday and Saturday are my reward days. I've been on track all week.

If I have the treat on Sunday, it keeps me from even looking towards the evil food fairies that show up in the office with doughnuts, cream cheese danish and brownies. I tell myself that I have been rewarded for the week and move on. I've been doing this for about 4 months now and have caved 3 times (glazed doughnut and 2 pieces of birthday cake).

Maybe this mental trick will work for you.

With all that said...half is better than whole. Congratulate yourself for that! You could have sent us a message telling us that you ate 2 or more! Smile and keep going. One day at a time my friend.

Nicole, it is so hard to not be tempted. I wouldn't be able to resist myself. I have to stay away from those things when I grocery shop too !! I find that it helps me to remember how many calories it would add to my tracker, and that I might not be able to have something I like later because I have used up all my calories. You did a good job in only eating part of it.

Thanks everyone!

Today I was tempted again - someone's birthday at work and they brought in donuts. I stayed clear of them for most of the morning, but eventually I buckled. At least I only ate 2/3 of it instead of the whole darn thing!

emoticon Nicole! I agree with Bescats...it's always tempting to have those treats in front of us. A mini cinnamon roll is a good treat. Better to have a little something now than deny and deny and deny and then binge. That's what I used to do.

Had a morning meeting today - cinnamon rolls, bagels, cream cheese, donuts - you get the idea. Well, I opted for 1/2 a container of yogurt and approximately 1/4 cup of granola (and I ate one of the mini cinnamon rolls as a treat). I'm so glad I didn't binge eat all the pastries. Whew!

For the last 1/2 of January I challenged myself to drink 8 glasses of water every day. It started as a tough challenge for me, but this last week I was able to drink my 8 glasses for 6 out of the 7 days!!! It was a challenge, but I was successful!!!

Hello,
I am back again to post more success stories!

1. I completed my second sprint triathlon last week! I took almost 35 minutes off of my time (the difference between a mountain bike the first time and a road bike the second time). But I am most proud of my 5K run... 39 minutes!!! I have never ever ever ran a 5k in under 40 minutes even when that is all that I am doing, so I am proud that I did it during a triathlon!

2. I am only 6 pounds away from being in the 100's!!!! I can't believe it!!! I haven't been in the 100's since I was 14 - I am now currently 29. I will celebrate for sure!!!

I joined SparkPeople (for the 3rd time) in January 2012. I have kind of faded in and out of participating in the forums, the challenges and the daily tracking, but THIS TIME I have maintained my focus and I'm building better habits. Even as my weight loss has slowed, I'm committed to a more active lifestyle and more healthy eating. I owe my new habits to my Spark friends! I am so grateful for the support from my new friends and the helpful tips on this website - there's no way I would be where I am now without the community support! Thank you to you all & to SparkPeople.

I'm so busy between work and my family that I'm not on here that much....but I did want to say that since I've joined Sparkpeople in January, I've lost 30 pounds! It's been a long road but I feel so much better physically since losing the weight. I have about 20 pounds to go, which are being very stubborn but I'm not worried. They will go away. The important thing is after trying a million things, the tools on Sparkpeople really helped me to finally get some weight off and keep it off.

My success....
Well I haven't been on SP for a long time (probably since May) because I have been overwhelmed... but I have 2 success stories that I'd love to pass along.

On May 27th, I did my first ever sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 26k bike, 5k run). I finished in 2:22:22. I was dead last, however, I finished and I caught the triathlon bug! I am doing two more this year, one August 26th and one September 8th. I have proper equipment now (a road bike, instead of a mountain bike) and I have been training like crazy.

On July 22nd, 2 of my friends and I formed a team and competed in a Half Iron Man Triathlon (2k swim, 90k bike and 21k run). I was the swimmer and I swam my 2k in 49:36 (about 5 minutes faster than I was hoping!). Our team finished in 7hours and 30 minutes, 1 hour before the time limit. I am so proud of us! I overcame many fears in this event such as swimming in a lake, swimming in a wetsuit, swimming with 350 other competitors and doing a mass start into the lake.

Biggest success this month (I'm talking about April) is that I finally weighed under 170 pounds - something I haven't been in over 3 years. That was HUGE for me!

It is attitude, not circumstance, that makes success possible in even the most unlikely conditions.

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd start a new topic on success. This could be successful weightless/fitness/recipe etc. Each month I'll collaborate them and send an email out of the top ten useful success tips!!

I guess I should go first:
My greatest success this month is banishing the sweet cravings. I find if I eat a low sugar breakfast I don't have a sugar low and crave to cheat!

Anyway get posting!! xxx
