Yeah, Kim, I hope all is okay, we haven't heard from you in a few days. emoticon

Oh, Nicole, I feel so bad for you. I was so lucky, and never had a problem, and went through menopause at about 47. I remember friends thought I should be depressed, and I couldn't imagine why ??? I did take the pill, too, but never had any problem there either. (knock on wood) I didn't want anything like an IUD, but so many things have changed and improved since I was that age.

My Mom had a hysterectomy, and I don't remember much about it. Did you ask your doctor why it is his preference ? Do you have any history of cervical cancer in your family ?
You could also consider a second opinion before you decide !!

If you have the hysterectomy, you probably won't be able to do anything strenuous for 6-8 weeks, but could probably do some walking. Remember, it is major surgery, and you will take time to heal properly. You also may need some help around the house for awhile. As far as the eating, just keep healthy snacks in the house, so you won't be tempted. I have faith in you, and I know you will be fine.

I'm sorry I'm not much help, having never gone through any of what you are going through. It's a touch decision, but you will make the right one for you. emoticon
emoticon

As for me, I am still doing a terrible job, and it is my own fault. I hope to get back to the gym this week, and I don't even dare to step on a scale, it would only depress me more. emoticon I just can't seem to get with it, and not sure why ??? As the weather gets nicer, I need to get off the computer, and get outside more. I'm getting in to much of a rut since I retired.

Well, ladies, have a great week. emoticon

If you haven't failed, you haven't lived !

Laugh, and the world laughs with you !!

We certainly can do it....we just have to really put forth the effort. Which isn't always easy - that's why we have to WORK for it! Right??!!!
emoticon

Anyway, I did pretty well yesterday. A few little slip ups but overall ok. Better than I have in several days.

This morning I woke up with lots of bloating and pimples all over my face. Guess what time it is???
emoticon

Needless to say it's been almost 56 days since my last period and I thought maybe I was done with them for a bit. Oh well. Unfortunately I'm horribly bloated and feeling just incredibly uncomfortable. This brings up a recent development from my doctor. A new doctor, who I really like, confirmed that I do have options other than taking the pill. I don't like taking the pill because no matter the strength I always tend to have problems with it.

He said I could either have a D&C and then they would implant an IUD OR I can have a hysterectomy. His preference was the hysterectomy. I'm just not sure what to do.

Do either of you have any history/knowledge about hysterectomies? My mom had one and it took her about 6-8 weeks to fully heal. And she's had very few problems with the whole process. I figure I'm younger so it might not be as bad for me to recover from. But I do worry about not being able to work out and laying around eating too much that I mess myself up on this journey. But I tell you - the thought of not having anymore uterine issues makes it a compelling option.

Just curious - what would you do? Keep in mind I've had nothing but problems upon problems and apparently with my "bad" cells in the uterus (because I don't always ovulate and have a period) I'm at an increased chance (up to 44%) of possibly getting some form of uterine cancer as well.

But having that type of surgery and removing that much of me is also worrisome.

Well, that's what I'm dealing with now.

Other than that things are getting there. I went out on a little bike ride yesterday and today, hopefully my discomfort subsides a bit this afternoon, I may do a 20 minute dvd workout. WISH ME LUCK!

Kim - I hope things are going well for you!

I know how you feel, Nicole......I can' stop eating sweets, once I start, either. So many people have said not to deprive myself, just use moderation. WELL, that may work for some, but not for me. emoticon

I, too, am going to take baby steps this week. I still have so much candy in my house, that I need to just put it away and forget it is there. I don't know if I can do it, but I know I have to try !! Then, it's getting back to the gym, and eating right.

I don't think I'm going to lose my 5 lbs. in April, so it may have to be my goal for May.

Come on ladies, I know we can do it together !! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh Bescats - we're in the same boat. I haven't really been exercising and I've been eating horribly. Once I start eating sugary snacks, I have a very, very VERY difficult time stopping. emoticon
So this week my goal is to take little baby steps. First thing this morning (well, not FIRST thing...but while I was thinking about my day) I was trying to figure out what exercise to do tonight. My first inclination was to do a 50 minute cardio session followed by 30 minutes of strength training...to "make up" for not working out. After about 10 seconds of consideration I realized that would be STUPID. I'll burn myself out and I'll feel crappy for the rest of the week. That's when I decided to just get 30 minutes of activity (tonight may be a bike ride - which won't burn as much as one of my dvd's, but it's still better than nothing) 5 or 6 days this week. That way I'll get my activity in a little at a time and not feel depleted.

That and I have to get my eating in order too. I'm going out after work tonight (before the bike ride) to pick up a few items so the next few days I'll have what I need for breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. YAY!

Happy Easter to both of you !! I know I have gained weight this weekend, because I have eaten so much candy besides the good food my daughter-in-law cooked. We also went out to Longhorn's for lunch yesterday, for my DH's birthday. I was good & had one of their salads, but one I recorded it, the finder said 950 calories. Ugh !!

I'm glad you had a pretty good time in Williamsburg, except for the unfortunate fly-over.
I have been there a few years ago, so don't remember much of what we saw. Still have my wine glasses from our "wine tour". We have a timeshare, that we never get to use, and one year we traded and stayed in Williamsburg. That was before we had dogs.

Well, it looks like we can work together to get ourselves back on track. I know I sure need it, an need to get back to the gym.

Enjoy the rest of Easter !!

If you haven't failed, you haven't lived !

Bescats & Kim - I hope you're enjoying your families over this Easter weekend. Happy Easter to both of you! Here's hoping the bunny brings you healthy snacks and maybe takes away a pound or two! LOL!

emoticon

Unfortunately I gained 2 pounds this week. It seems unreasonable. But I know I wasn't exercising the way I normally would AND I ate out... A LOT. Every day - breakfast, lunch & dinner. Ugh. I have 11 weeks till we go to Florida so for the next 11 weeks, I had better buckle down and get with the program. I was doing so well for so long and lately it just seems to be a struggle. I just don't get it.

Williamsburg was lovely. The history is phenomenal. But it was COLD. And I was pooped on by a bird (my brother said it was a hawk, but I can't be sure) and my jacket was too gross to wear the rest of the trip. Boy oh boy was I unhappy with that! I would definitely go back, but I would want to go when it's a little warmer - maybe May or September.

Other than that things are good. Looking forward to getting back on track and settling back into our "normal" routine.

Happy Easter to you both!

Hi ladies,
I too will be missing for the weekend. I am heading out to see my Grandma and my friend for Easter weekend. I leave tomorrow morning at 4 am and will be back sometime late on Monday night - then back to work on Tuesday and to my weigh in day!

As I am headed somewhere much much warmer than here (with no snow - cause we got 5 cm over the last few days), my goals are to get out and walk every day and to not eat too much!!! I will be eating in restaurants all weekend, so I hope to be able to not go overboard with my eating.

I hope that you both have a lovely Easter weekend spent with family and friends. Take care ladies!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Just a quick one ladies, I'm trying to get ready to go to Mass. tomorrow, until Monday, so I don't know how much I'll be on. Going to our youngest son's, and hoping the weather is good so we can see our grandson play ball.

Today is hubby's 71st birthday, and we are celebrating with a KFC bucket. emoticon That's what he wanted to eat, instead of going out. Not good on the calories, but it was something different.

Yes, Nicole, I do have a meal plan in place, I just haven't followed it for the last week. I don't know what's wrong with me, I just feel like eating things I shouldn't. Worst of all, I haven't been to the gym for a week, for one reason or another. emoticon I have gotten in some stationary bike, at home, and some walking.

Hope you are having a great time in Williamsburg. emoticon

Kim, I hope things are still going well for you, too !! Thinking of you. emoticon

Talk to you later. emoticon

Ladies...thank you so much for your support! emoticon
Bescats & Kim...YOU ROCK!

Kim- SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! emoticon
You will lose those pounds...you're on a roll now! You've found what works for you and all you need to do is keep at it.
emoticon

Barb - do you have a meal plan for this week? I know you said last week (or the week before) that when you have the meal plan in place you do so much better. Don't give up on those meal plans...it's important for you and for your DH...especially since he does have thyroid problems (most likely contributing to weight issues too).

Wish I could drive up there and slap the bad food out of your hands! emoticon

Well, tomorrow we head down to Williamsburg, VA until Saturday. Not sure if I'll get on Spark much over the next few days. I hope to check in at least once though.

I got up at 4am this morning and worked out. I'm going to get another 30 minute workout in tonight and hopefully again tomorrow morning. At least that way I'm close to hitting my calories burned goal this week. I know we'll be doing lots of walking over the next few days, but I have a feeling there's also going to be lots of eating going on while we're there.

Wish me luck!

emoticon

Good luck to the two of you too! emoticon

Don't have much time, but wanted to stop by just to say emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon to you Kim. You are on a roll, and I know you will lose the rest !!

I do need that "kick", and if both you and Nicole keep after me, I know I can get back on track.
I just can't seem to wrap my head around eating right, and I'm not sure why. I guess we all have those difficult times, and I am so thankful for the two of you. emoticon

Nicole, hope things have settled down for you. Take a deep breath, and all will turn out okay. We are here for you. emoticon emoticon

Hi ladies!!! Good news!!!! I lost 2 more pounds!!! I am 4 pounds down this month so far!!!! I am soooooo excited!!!! So, my goal was to lose 18 pounds from April 1st till June 30th and I am down 4. So, I have 14 left to go!!! emoticon emoticon

Nicole, I agree with Bescats - sometimes the stress of trying to fit in the work out is not worth it. Running around and doing errands sounds like a lot of work too! It will be good! Do what you need to do to not be too stressed out - even if that means skipping a work out.

Bescats, you will get back on track soon! It's hard with your puppy's foot and your hubby doing medical tests - you will get there!!! Do you need another swift kick in the butt??? I can provide that for you too!!!! emoticon (PS that is done with all of my SP love!!!)

Have a great day, ladies!

Nicole, it sounds like you are getting in some exercise with all your running around.

Don't stress about getting in a workout. I don't think stress is worth it. Get done what you need to do, and relax. You have been doing great, and if you are careful with your eating, missing a workout won't hurt you. Take the advice you give me, it's always great, and I appreciate it !!

I didn't get to the gym today, only got in some walking at DHMC walking to the different parts of the hospital that hubby had to go to for his tests to get ready for thyroid surgery.

But, I have to admit that my eating habits still weren't very good today.

Have a fantastic evening ladies......keep on Sparking.......we can do it. emoticon

Bescats - we ALL struggle. There's no doubt. There's no perfect life...that's for sure. And yes, it does seem so unfair to have to keep pushing. Why doesn't it ever get any easier??!!! I guess we're just not wired that way.

I look at it like this...if we have more to overcome, then success will be that much sweeter. Right??
emoticon

Yesterday I wanted to get in a good workout - but didn't. I did some household stuff (and worked up a sweat) but that was supposed to be in addition to exercise.

Tonight I thought "I HAVE to get in a good workout" but all day I keep thinking about everything I have to get ready for leaving Wednesday morning (and tomorrow I'm still working and tomorrow night I have a dr appt) so I'm wondering if I should just give up the idea of working out tonight and get all the running/errands done I need to so we're ready on time. I feel guilty about it though. Not sure what to do...

You sure are right, Nicole. I really do need a BIG emoticon in the butt. emoticon I don't know what went wrong yesterday. I had an SP recipes all set to make, went grocery shopping, a walk, and by the time I got home I wanted to go out to eat, which we did. That was the end of me for the day. emoticon I was BAD, BAD, BAD !!

I have to admit, I get very discouraged when I've been trying to do well, and the weight goes ON, instead of OFF. It just doesn't seem fair for "US" to work so hard, and have so many setbacks, which are not always our fault.

I shouldn't complain, you and Kim have a much busier life than I do, but you still emoticon through it all !! Sometimes, I think being retired gives me to much time, and I get lazy.

Oh well, like you said, Nicole, today is a new day. I will try to do better.

To us all ~~ emoticon emoticon

Have a super Sunday emoticon

Kim - I'm sorry to hear you had a bout of bad weather again. That stinks! But, at least you have lots to do to keep you busy and like you said, next week when it starts to warm up you'll be in good shape to get out and enjoy it!
emoticon
Keep up the great work though...you're finding your pace and that's awesome!
emoticon

Bescats - Sorry to hear you had a few days last week that weren't optimal, but you'll get yourself back on track. Although, I feel like I should scold you for that McFlurry...

Maybe you just need a little emoticon in the butt??!! emoticon

But seriously - those McFlurry's are so good, but just be careful. I just don't want to see you struggling again like you did in March. You've done a great job in April so far. And a few indulgences here and there aren't the end of the world. But I just want to see you do well, that's all.
emoticon emoticon

As for me, I should listen to my own advice. emoticon
I went WAY over my calories and carbs yesterday. Ugh.

But today is a new day and I'm going to get my butt in gear again and get back on track. emoticon

Have a wonderful Sunday ladies! Let's have an AWESOME Spark-week!

Thank you, ladies, for asking about Molly. She is doing fine. I'm still soaking her foot twice a day, and she is still on her antibiotics, and I have to keep her foot wrapped and dry when she goes out. Oh what fun!! She is such a good patient, though. emoticon

I was doing well the first of the week, but had a couple of bad days, so I gained some weight. emoticon We went out tonight, then went to McDonald's for a McFlurry. I shouldn't have done that, but it did taste good. YUM !!

Oh Kim, I feel sorry that you got more snow, but you can keep it. emoticon We had a beautiful day, about mid 60's, and sunny. I even went for a walk while grocery shopping, just so I could enjoy the day.

It seems like the 3 of us are hanging in there, and staying close to where we should be. We will stick together, emoticon emoticon .

Have a fantastic Sunday !! Oh yes, if either of you have pictures you want to input, please feel free.

Hi ladies,
Sorry that I didn't get on here yesterday - every time I logged on SP was doing weird things and I couldn't get to any of the pages. Oh well, I am back today!

Bescats, I also noticed the little bunny - it's so cute! I hope your puppy is feeling better soon! And I also hope that you got a really great night of sleep so that you are energized today!!!

Nicole, I am glad to hear that you also got a good night sleep. Enjoy your wonderful weekend of great weather. I hope you

We got snow today and it's really really cold... We had been enjoying good weather until today. But, this snow was predicted so it's not a big surprise. It will be warm again on Monday, so the snow won't last long. Oh well! I have a super long to-do list, so I can stay inside all weekend to get it done and then next week, when it's warm again, I can get outside guilt free because my work will be done.

I have been doing well with my food and exercise, so I am hoping that my next weigh in on Tuesday will show some good results! Time will tell!

Besides that, nothing much going on here. Have a great Saturday ladies.

Bescats - how is Molly's foot? I should have asked earlier.

I know what you mean about being tired. We're experiencing the same thing here. Last night my youngest son was so tired he decided on his own around 8pm that he was ready for bed. That's almost unheard of! So my husband and I both were slightly tired, but not tired enough to go to bed. So we watched a movie - Saving Mr. Banks. It was so good! I definitely recommend it.

Went to bed around 10:45. And boy, I was bushed. Slept in till 7 this morning, which was really nice.

It's a beautiful day here today and tomorrow seems like more of the same. I'm looking forward to getting outside a bit for some of my exercise today.

Kim & Barb - I hope you're starting to get some nicer weather too. Hopefully some sun and warmer temps are in your areas this weekend. If so, take advantage and get out there for some fresh air!
emoticon

Good luck to all of us this weekend!

Thank you for noticing, Nicole. I was very late in changing the photo.

Not much to say today, done okay with eating today, but not yesterday. Don't worry, Nicole, you will get back to it. Some days are just harder than others.

Sorry, for the shortness of this, but I am totally exhausted tonight. Didn't sleep well last night, and having a hard time staying awake, but don't want to soak Molly's foot to early, and to early to give her the second round of antibiotics. Hubby not good at things like that.

LOVE the bunny on our page, Barb!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hopefully he doesn't deliver us any chocolate this Easter! emoticon

I did horrible yesterday. Ate too much junk food again. I don't know what's gotten into me. But for three weeks I've been struggling with this. I just want to go back to when it wasn't a problem.

Sunday's weigh-in is going to be disappointing, I think.

emoticon KIM!

emoticon on the 2 pound loss! That's phenomenal!

And you're absolutely right - every bit counts. You're 2 pounds down from the 18 from your goal. That's 1/9th of the way there. YOU CAN DO THIS! Keep doing what you're doing and before you know it you'll be a 1/3 of the way there, then 1/2 way, then 2/3...etc., etc.
emoticon

Barb - I'm glad to hear things are going well for you too. You're keeping up with the activity and that's crucial! And eating better (although going over a little) is so very important. At least you went over because of nuts, not snickers. Right??!!!
emoticon

I've been doing ok, not great. I'm definitely PMS'ing or something because I can't stop eating sweet and salty foods. I've even dipped into my kids' Doritos! WHY???!!! I don't know. I just can't stop.
emoticon
Needless to say I've gone over a few days this week and other days I came dangerously close. So my eating is way out of whack.

I was supposed to workout last night but was just too tired to do it. So I didn't.

Unfortunately today I knew I wouldn't have time to workout since after work I have to pick up an order at my youngest's school (candy order - great timing. . .NOT.) and then after we get home and quick eat, it's off to the high school for the Spring play - WIZARD OF OZ. I'm excited. I've never been to a high school play before. This should be interesting.

HOWEVER...I decided at lunch today to take a walk and I went 1.07 miles in 14 minutes. Only burned about 80 calories but still...it counts!

Hey ladies, emoticon
I have been around 'snooping' on the boards the last few days but I haven't posted anything on the chat thread for the last few days. I guess it just feel like I don't really have a lot to say. I have been trucking along keeping up with my fitness, eating a lot better and losing weight!!!

Hahahah - yep that's right, you read it correctly!! I lost 2 pounds last week!!!!! I am very excited - but at the same time, it seems like so little in light of everything - considering I have probably close to another 75 or so to go!!!

But, I am taking it in little chunks - I am hoping to lose 18 pounds before I go to China this summer. 18 pounds would put me back to my weight in September when I started my new job. So, when I think about 18 pounds to lose, I have already lost 2, so only 16 left to go!!!! That sounds a bit better!

Nicole and Bescats, I am happy to hear that both of you are doing well with your eating and your fitness too and that you are both losing weight too - now all 3 of us are in the same boat and on a losing streak!!! Let's keep it up!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Nicole, we all need a day off, especially to let sore muscles recuperate. You have been working hard, and sound like your eating has been okay. emoticon I know you can do it !!

Kim, you sure are putting us to shame. I get tired just thinking about the exercise you do. emoticon Keep up the good work !!

I have done okay today, did about 35 min. on my stationary bike, but did go over my calorie count because I ate to many mixed nuts. Good fats, but still lots of calories. I hope to make it to the gym tomorrow. I seem to be very tired this week, even went to bed early last night, but feeling tired again tonight, and for no reason, really ~ just getting old, I guess. emoticon

Have a fantastic evening, ladies. We are doing great, and holding our own this week. emoticon

Hey Bescats - every bit counts!

Glad to hear that Molly is recouperating and it wasn't anything too dastardly to deal with. You'll get back to the gym in short order...there's no doubt in my mind!

emoticon emoticon

Kim - I hope your workouts are still putting Bescats and I to shame! emoticon

Tonight I think I'm going to take it easy. Maybe dance by myself a bit again. I really pushed hard last night (and that felt great) but today my abs are sore and I'm feeling frazzled. I'm in good shape to make my goal again this week for calories burned so if I just do a little something tonight I'll be happy.

Talk to you tomorrow!

KIM, I certainly agree with Nicole ~~ how emoticon, and so exciting for you that's it's your old community. emoticon emoticon emoticon

PARTY HARDY !! emoticon

Thanks for asking about my Molly. She had a small, red spot between her toes, and I thought it looked like the same thing she got last July just as we were going on vacation, so I started putting the meds. on it. WELL, last night it really started to swell, and she started hopping on 3 feet. Took her to the Vet this morning, and it is an abscess, and had to lance and drain it. Now she is on antibiotics for a awhile. I have to soak her foot twice a day for awhile. THAT should be fun !! I just can't seem to get by a month without a Vet bill. emoticon

Fantastic, emoticon emoticon job yourself on that pound loss !! No doubt you will be where you want to be soon. emoticon you WILL do it !!

As for me, I am still doing okay with my eating. I did up another menu for this week, and it does seem to help when I'm not staring in the refrigerator trying to figure out what to eat.
I do use some SP recipes, and some that I got from the Mediterranean diet in a magazine. I really need to keep going so my DH will stay on it, too. He really needs to lose.

Because of the dog, I didn't get to the gym this morning, and only did 30 min. on my stationary bike, but I guess that's better than nothing.

Have a great evening, ladies. Talk to you later. emoticon

Sounds like a emoticon was in order!

I love watching Hockey...it's one of the only sports I ever truly enjoyed. So glad to hear your old community is getting this much needed upgrade! I'm sure everyone is elated!

Barb - I'm seeing something about your pup not doing well on the Huddle wall...I hope everything is ok.
emoticon
And by the way.... emoticon emoticon job on getting those 2 pounds off!
emoticon
You're doing a great job!

Well, yesterday I weighed in and lost a pound. Whew. Hopefully by next weekend I'll be back to where I was two weeks ago. Darn my stress eating!!!

Hi ladies,
Sorry that I haven't been around in a long time! I took an impromptu road trip back to the town where I lived and taught for the last 8 years to visit some friends.

This winter, they lost their arena this year due to heavy heavy snow fall, but they have been frantically fundraising. Also, they entered their name into the race for Kraft HockeyVille. Basically it's a program that runs across Canada and communities can enter their names to win a chance to win up to $1 000 000 to do arena upgrades or renovations. They enter their name, 16 are chosen, 8 from Western Canada and 8 from Eastern Canada. Those 16 get $25 000. Then voting happens and the top 16 go down to the top 4. Those top 4 are guaranteed $50 000. Then the top 4 become the top 2 and get $1 000 000 each automatically. Then the top two go up for an NHL pre-season hockey game. This is all done by people going online and voting!!!!

Well anyways, my former community became top 2, 2 weeks ago! They automatically got
$1 000 000 but kept going for the title of Kraft HockeyVille and they won!!!!! It was so exciting!!!! They get an NHL game between Calgary Flames and Pheonix Coyotes on Sept 24th. So they had a big party to celebrate (well, they didn't know if they'd win and have the chance to celebrate), but they did win so they did celebrate. So I went down this weekend to join in on the festivities!!!

Anyways, road trips are always hard because you don't always get to eat at regular times or you can't always find good foods to eat. So, we will see what the damage is tomorrow when I weigh in.

Nicole, glad your DH made it home safe and sound!!! Good job with the 1 pound weight loss.
Bescats, glad that you are making good choices and that you lost a few pounds also.

Have a great night, ladies!!!

Nicole, you have been doing a fantastic job, and I know you will succeed. Keep looking forward, and having faith in yourself. We all have our bad times, but don't let them outweigh the good.

I have been doing well, too. We went back on our Mediterranean style diet, and I lost over 2 lbs. Amazing what you can do if you stay away from the "junk" food. emoticon

Kim, I hope all is going well for you, too. emoticon

Enjoy your week, Spark on, keep up the good exercise and eating habits. emoticon

Good morning Kim & Barb!

I hope you're both starting the new Sparkweek strong!

I was happy to weigh in today and be down a pound. I'm hoping to get back to where I was two weeks ago by next weekend. I had two particularly bad weeks in a row and that caused some weight gain last week. But I feel like I'm on the right track to getting where I need to be by the end of April...under 150! I'm so close I can feel it!

Anyway...

Here's to a great sparkweek, filled with lots of good exercise and healthy eating! emoticon
And let's hope for some warmer temperatures and lots of emoticon

Hi ladies,

Not much going on with me today. I was a bad girl, I didn't even exercise. I have continued with healthy eating, though. emoticon

So glad to hear that your DH made it home okay, Nicole. It must have been an awful drive, and he was smart not to tell you. I'm the same way. Wishing you a fantastic weekend !

You are so right, Nicole. I do feel so much better when I stick to my plan, and do wonder why I let myself get off track. I love sweets, but can't eat just one. emoticon

By the way, don't worry, you'll meet your walk/jog goal because I think you really want to now. You have been doing an emoticon job.

All have a great evening, will check in later. emoticon

emoticon again!

DH made it home safe and sound last night. He said the weather was horrible - torrential downpours for the first 3 hours of the trip, followed by light rain the rest of the way (less than ideal, but better than the downpours). And he didn't tell me in advance, but he was not happy with his rental car - he said the visibility on the sides and the rear were sub-par. I was sort of glad he didn't tell me in advance or I would have lost my mind waiting for him to get home.

Anyway, today is supposed to be a lot nicer weather than we've had in a long time. I'm debating going for a walk/jog. I really want to complete this goal this year...it's been two summers and I still can't jog/run a 5K. I have to make it happen this year. I HAVE TO!

Barb - glad to hear the meal planning and gym are still in place. It sounds like you're feeling better too (about your day-to-day overall emotional health, I mean)...isn't it funny how when we do what we know we're supposed to do, we feel so much better? And yet we continue to give in to whatever it is that gets us off track in spite of knowing this??
Sometimes we can be so emoticon

Kim - I hope things are going well for you too! emoticon

emoticon Nicole for all that "dancing in the kitchen". Dancing can be very good cardio. I know I love to dance. And emoticon job with your workout today !!

During your boring meeting, you should have asked if you could do some chair exercises to stay awake. emoticon

So glad your DH is coming home, and hope the weather held out for him. I bet he's glad to be home. Enjoy your weekend !!

I have still been doing well with my eating, and did go to the gym today, so got in my workout. It was a nice day, but clouded up late, and we have had a little rain tonight. Not much yet, but they say it's coming.

Kim, I hope things have gone well for you today, too !!

Just a quickie today ladies.

DH is coming home tonight...can't wait! He should be here any minute in fact.

Making a good dinner for him since he's so sick of eating out!

I really pushed myself today - worked out cardio 30 minutes followed by a crazy strength training video for 30 minutes. YAY FOR ME!!!

I hope you ladies are doing well! Good luck this weekend!

Kim - so glad to hear you're not having any difficulties with your knee. emoticon

And also good to hear that your junk food consumption is WAY DOWN!
That's emoticon

You're really kicking butt and taking names! That's the way to do it! WOO-HOO!

Bescats - you've been doing a great job this week too! Keep up the great work! Planning meals in advance is a great way to take control of your eating habits. I'm so proud of you!

Today was a very long, boring day. I had a day long meeting that maybe 45 minutes actually applied to me - the rest of the day was like listening to someone else drone on and on about something you have absolutely no interest in. It completely drained me all day.

I was planning on getting in a good hour long workout tonight (30 minutes cardio, 30 minutes strength training) but just couldn't do it. I ended up dancing in my kitchen while I made dinner for about 25 minutes. I gave it my all too! Just glad no one could see me! LOL!

Tomorrow DH comes home and I'm super-excited! I'll be a nervous wreck all day as the forecast is rain and fog. Not the best driving conditions.

I'll check in tomorrow. Hope you ladies have a great Friday!

Good evening to my favorite ladies,

Kim, you have every reason to be proud of yourself. emoticon You have taken those baby steps that will lead to big results for you. Thinking about what you eat is half the battle. Good girl !! emoticon

You sure have done a good job with that exercise. I got tired just reading about it. emoticon Be very careful with your knee, if you are going to run. If you have a brace or something for it, you might want to wear it. I wear mine sometimes when I start having problems. I know you know what to do.

Nicole, I hope you day wasn't to hectic, and things went well for you with hubby gone. The week's almost over ~ hang in there. emoticon

I had a pretty good day, and have stuck with a good eating plan. It seems to be working for me with planning my menu, for the week, ahead of time. I wasn't scratching my head trying to figure out what to eat, or forgetting to take something out of the freezer. I even have our breakfast ready for morning ~ tomorrow is a gym day !! I have my grapefruit ready, and hubby's orange ready, the eggs are hard-boiled, and all we will have to do is stick the toast in the toaster & add the oil. It's an easy Mediterranean breakfast. emoticon Of course, I'll have my emoticon

Well, ladies, have a fabulous evening. emoticon

Hi ladies,
I feel like I have been doing better the last couple of days with my food choices. I am consciously choosing good food, and thinking about my choices before I reach for sweets. I have actually cut down my chocolate consumption down by about 75% in the last 4 days!!! I am pretty proud of myself!!!

I got a good amount of exercise in today. I went for a good 30 minute walk at lunch and then I played hockey tonight. So, needless to say, I think that I am good with the exercise today and I burnt at least a few calories. Tomorrow is a run day, so I will get my exercise in again. My knee feels good after my hockey game on Sunday. It's really bruised but not too sore.

Nicole - enjoy your facetime with your hubby! Good job getting in your exercise tonight!!!!

Bescats - good job getting in your workout even though you had a headache.

Talk to you later ladies!

Good evening ladies,

It has been an okay day for me. I started my day with a migraine, but took my meds, not dressed and went to the gym. I took it easy, but got my workout done, and felt better after, then picked up a few groceries. I have done a good job with my eating plan, so far this week, so I feel good about that. I think I've even lost about 1.5 lbs.

Nicole is so right, Kim. We have both been struggling some lately. Hang in there, things will start working out. emoticon , never give up on yourself. You are worth it !! We're here for you, so feel free to chat with us. emoticon emoticon

Nicole, you have had many challenges lately. You are definitely a busy woman, get the kids to help with things like taking care of the cats. I hope you enjoy your "facetime" with your DH this evening. It is difficult when they are gone, especially when you have little ones to worry about, but staying active makes the time go by faster. Hang in there, he'll be home soon. emoticon emoticon You're a smart lady, I know you can do it !!

If you haven't failed, you haven't lived !

emoticon KIM!

emoticon BARB!

I hope you're both doing well.

Kim - How's that knee feeling? I hope you're taking it easy. As far as overeating - I've been there. Bescats has been there too. We all go through it. It's so easy to say "Don't worry" but when you're actually the one worrying, it's not that easy. I just hope you can find some peace which I would hope could lead to better eating. I wish I could talk to you face to face and we could really be supportive with your journey here. But, SP team chats will have to do!
emoticon emoticon

Barb - Sounds like you're doing a great job so far. Isn't it funny how we KNOW how badly we feel when we overeat or eat the wrong things?? AND YET WE DO IT ANYWAY?? emoticon

I hope April remains a turning point for you. Sounds like you're going in the right direction at this point.
emoticon

I did get in my workout last night. Tonight's going to be another challenge, but I'm hoping to get in a longer workout in spite of it. Lots to do again tonight - Laundry, Dinner, Working Out, Cleaning (vacuuming, really - and maybe cleaning the toilet - with 3 males in the house it's a never-ending chore), going to the store to pick up a few odds and ends we need, take care of our cats, making sure the kids' homework is done, and getting everyone ready for bed. Oh boy. I'll be going non-stop until 9pm when my DH Facetimes us.

Wish me luck!

Good evening ladies,

Sorry I missed you yesterday, but I did read everything. I'm having an awful problem with my headaches, and I think part of it has to do with me being on the computer so much. My eyes aren't happy with me. But, I definitely intend to stick you gals emoticon

Kim, I agree with Nicole. You need to take some small steps to take care of that knee. I have some knee issues if I'm not careful, so definitely take it easy. We don't like to hear that you are hurt, and I think we have more of a tendency to overeat when we are stressed about an injury that we want to do and can't. Hang in there !! emoticon

Nicole, I hope I am able to do as well with the challenge as you did in March. You are so close to your goal ~ emoticon Those last few pounds come off hard, but I know you WILL do it !! Oh yeah, it sure sounds like you have a busy night ahead of you. All that running around will surely take off some calories. emoticon

As for me, I did good yesterday with my eating. I actually lost 1.5 lbs. already. The hardest thing for me is not "snacking". That has always been my problem, so I need to keep my mind busy, so I don't think about it. So far, today I have done well. I think the combination of the foods keep me full longer. I know I feel much better when I don't overeat, so I have to wonder why I do it anyway. emoticon

Well, ladies, have a great evening. emoticon

Kim - I always love the weight loss challenge! Well, I love it when I'm doing well with it... emoticon

Glad to hear your knee isn't so bad that it's prohibiting you from being active. I think taking 3 days between runs is an excellent idea. You don't want to push things too much too soon or by the time the weather is really nice you'll be miserable. Rest, ice, and do modified activities.
emoticon

Bescats - emoticon

I hope things are going well for you. Day 2 on the Mediterranean diet emoticon

I'm looking at getting in a 20 minute workout tonight (Walk Away the Pounds - 1 mile). At least it's something. But I will be running around like a crazy person. I'll get home around 5:10, change, workout (finish around 5:40), start dinner, hop in the shower, finish dinner, scarf down some grub and head out for a 7:00 doctor's appointment. When I get home it's homework with the youngest son, cleaning up everything from dinner, start a load of laundry, make sure the kids take their showers then get my youngest ready for bed. Whew...I'm exhausted just thinking about it. emoticon

Excellent news, Nicole, that your biopsy came in negative! That's awesome news!!! Keep pushing with your workouts when you have time! It's too bad that your son is giving you grief!!! That's an added stress that you don't need!!!

And, I agree with you that you and Bescats are my only spark friends - and you make me keep on coming back!!!

Bescats - I see you haven't posted yet today, but I am sure that you are checking in on us, so hi!!!

Today I went for a short run at lunch - it was 26 minutes and 3K. It felt good to run again! But, I am aware of the pain that I feel so I am trying not to push too hard - I am going to leave 3 days between runs and make sure that I stretch well and that I ice my knees.

Also, the swelling in my knee has gone down since yesterday - but the bruise looks really gross!!!

Anyways, that's all for now. It was a short night last night as I only slept a couple of hours, so I don't have the energy tonight to give much more than that!

But, before I go, I will be posting the next month's challenges tonight or tomorrow - so let me know if there is anything specific you want to see!!!

That sounds like you're going to have an adventurous summer! WOW! You'll have to let us know all about it when you get back - do a blog with pictures or something!

As far as your knee - I agree with Bescats...OUCH. I hope all is well. Hopefully the icing and resting a day or two has brought the swelling down a bit. And I hope you had your pads on when it happened.

Bescats - I thoroughly enjoy this team page because of you and Kim. It's the only team I really correspond with. I've joined several others and huddle on there mostly, although sometimes I do post something on their games pages or something. I feel a real connection with you and Kim and you two have been the most supportive Sparkfriends a girl could ask for!
emoticon

So DH is gone for the week. My youngest son has been so helpful and sweet...my older son has given me nothing but grief. And then he keeps saying he's "the man of the house now that Dad's gone"...It seriously makes me want to slap him upside the head. Honestly.

Anyway, I have my last dentist appointment tonight to put the crown on the tooth that recently had a root canal. Hopefully all goes well and there's very little recouperation involved. Although I suspect the infection isn't gone altogether. It's a lot better than it was, but that tooth still doesn't feel quite "right". Maybe I'm wrong and it just needs the permanent crown to feel better. Let's hope so

So tonight there won't be any working out. Maybe I can squeeze in a quickie tomorrow night before my dr appointment. I have about 1.5 hours to get home, make dinner, workout and then clean up before I have to head out for my appointment - dinner is going to be hot dogs so it's potentially do-able. Wish me luck!

I'm feeling a little better today than I was yesterday. I do appreciate all your kind words and support after I sort of "broke down" yesterday.

AH! Good news too - my biopsy came back negative! YAY! So I go in on 4/14 for a surgical pre-consult and to schedule the surgeries! I'm sort of excited!

I hope you ladies are both having a great start to the week. It's April starting tomorrow and I, for one, am hopeful that April will be a great month for all of us! And hopefully it's just the start of many great months ahead!

It is attitude, not circumstance, that makes success possible in even the most unlikely conditions.

I have to stop by again just to say emoticon emoticon Kim !! Your trip sounds so fabulous, I am very happy for you & your Mom.

You sound like you always get in so much exercise, but sorry to hear that your knee took another pounding. OUCH !! Please take care.

I'm really not going anywhere, If I can't check in every day, I'll check in often. I have so much fun talking to you and Nicole.

Hey ladies,
Yesterday I had a pretty good day. I went to my Zumba class for an hour and then went for a 2k run afterwards (short but I had to get home and off to run errands). But I will admit that the run felt good - my knees didn't hurt. It was good because my knees were warmed up before running, so there were no injuries.

Then my mom went to the travel agent to plan our trip to CHINA!!!!!! That's right, I am going to China this summer for 35 days!!!! I applied for and was accepted to go over for 2 weeks (plus 5 days of orientation) to teach ESL teachers. Then, my mom is going to join me and we are going to spend another 16 days teaching!!!

After that, my mom and I went out for my birthday dinner!!! And then I went off to play hockey. It was our first playoff hockey game - and we won!! But, as I was checking a player off the other team, we collided and I went down hard on my knee. It is bruised pretty bad and swollen to double it's size. So, needless to say, I will not be doing too much today!

Nicole - don't let that 1.8 get you down... you have done so well this year and I know that it's just a little set back for you! I can gain 1.8 pounds in a day.... let alone in a week- so don't let that stress you out too much. Also, I agree with Bescats - you should use exercise as a distraction - it's both a distraction and a way to lose those 1.8 pounds and maybe more!!!

Bescats - we will miss you around here if you are not checking in as much, but I totally understand that sometimes we need to refocus our priorities to make sure that we reach our goals. We will miss you, but we know that you will be thinking about us and encouraging us, just as we will for you!!!

Well, ladies, I am going to check out for the day! I am going to relax and do some laundry!

Take care!

Nicole, you still had a great month, so don't let a small gain get to you. Use your exercise to help you cope while your DH is away, and it will also help the time to pass quickly. If you can get motivated, exercise really does help with stress. emoticon Keep your body & mind busy, and you will get through it !!

You are not being dramatic, you are just being truthful, and not many ladies speak of their DH that way. You are so lucky to have such a wonderful "friend". emoticon

I'm going to try to keep up with this team ~ you gals are my favorites, and the ones that keep me going right now. I have to admit, I haven't even taken the time to read blogs like I use to. I'm on the computer way to much, and everything else is falling behind. That's part of why I'm so discouraged right now. I'm hoping if I make a few, small changes, I will be more productive, and feel better. I'm not as organized as I was when working, and only had so much time to get things done. It's easy to get very "lazy". emoticon

Hope all of you are having a great day. It's rainy, nasty, and just plain "blah" here today.

Talk to you soon !! emoticon

Bescats - I'm sorry to hear we won't be hearing from you as often...I hope as your April starts to take off that you'll find some inspiration and time to be on SP more regularly. But i completely understand.

Congratulations on the .9 weight loss! emoticon
Don't worry about WHY it happened, just be pleased that it happened. Enjoy the moment!

I, on the other hand, just gained 1.8 pounds this week. Told you I wasn't doing so well. emoticon

I haven't been working out the way I should for 2 weeks. And my eating has been HORRIBLE. I know it's stress and hormones so I'm hopeful that after this week things will calm down a bit. My husband is going to Pittsburgh for a week and I'm so beside myself because of it. I know lots of women deal with traveling husbands, etc. - some for lots longer than a week once or twice a year; but I just can't help feeling the way I feel. I love my husband and enjoy his company so much - he's my very best friend. And when he's not around I feel like I've lost my North Star, my compass, my partner, my safe harbor. I know I'm being dramatic, but it's definitely part of what is causing me to go off kilter right now. So I'm trying very hard to acknowledge it and accept it so I can move past it. Hence, me sharing it with you now.

It is attitude, not circumstance, that makes success possible in even the most unlikely conditions.

Just a quick note, ladies to let you know I am still here & haven't given up. I am going to set up new goals for April, get back on my Mediterranean diet, and am going to have to make a few other changes to keep on track. That is going to include not being on the computer as much as I am, especially SP, but I will still be here, I am not giving up my best friends, who have stood by me & tried to help.

I still am not doing well with my eating, but lost .9 lbs. last week & don't know why. I am still exercising, but not pushing myself as much when I do.

Tomorrow I am going to set up our meals for the next week, get some of the cooking done ahead of time, and hope for the best !!

Ladies, we will make April a good month for all of us. emoticon emoticon

Oh Kim! There's got to be something you're missing. Some reason. I know I've been there like you. And no matter what I did I couldn't lose anything. But it wasn't until I really committed to tracking every morsel, and really updated all my goals on Spark with current weight, goal weight, the actual amount of minutes/calories I burn each week, etc. that I got an accurate calorie range to stay within that the scale started moving. And even then I struggled (basically December 2012-August 2013) and it wasn't until I looked hard at what was blocking me - it turned out to be financial woes and some relationship woes as well - and acknowledged it, owned it, and talked about it - that I was able to get out of that funk.

I sure hope you're able to find your "happy place" and really get into the groove soon. Good luck! emoticon

Today (and yesterday) I'm off track. I didn't work out last night (I just felt too tired) and today my motivation is almost non-existent. I ate like a pig last night too - chocolate peanut butter bears, coke, pizza, ice cream, granola bars. I just couldn't stop! And this morning it's so gloomy outside that my body and mind just want to be gloomy too. I'm having a difficult time fighting it.

It is attitude, not circumstance, that makes success possible in even the most unlikely conditions.

Hi ladies,

Bescats - I agree with you - I have given up on March... in fact I gave up a long time ago.... maybe I can be like you and have great motivation and a good start to April. We will see.

Nicole, glad to see things are turning around in your house and that your family is feeling better. Good job getting in your workouts, even when you are not feeling 100%!!

As for me, the day went ok, until about 2pm... then my eating went off track. I did get my bootcamp done during lunch, but I am quickly realizing that it doesn't matter what I do for exercise or how good I am with food, I keep gaining weight. I am just so frustrated. It makes it so easy to justify eating poorly, because I know that it won't make a difference with my weight if I eat well. I just keep thinking.... "I am going to gain weight anyways, so I might as well have fun doing it and I might as well continue to eat those yummy things!!!!"

Anyways... maybe I can catch Bescats April mentality... we will see!!!

Just a quickie today ladies!

I hope all is going well for you, Kim. I know you've been struggling, but just don't give up. This is worth the fight!
emoticon

YOU are worth the fight! emoticon emoticon

Bescats - I know you've been struggling a lot lately. I just wish I could do or say something that would unlock whatever has you weighed down and it would suddenly inspire you to get back on track. But I know how it is...last year for several months I was in bad shape. But as often as I thought about giving up, you and Kim were there cheering me on. And when I looked long and hard at what was bothering me I was able to shake off the funk and start getting back on track. I hope the same thing for you, my Dear!

Just a quick one from me too, ladies,

Kim, it's getting difficult for me to check in all the time too, so mine will be short & sweet also. Glad you are okay, and hope things settle down soon for you to make it a little easier. Hang in there !! emoticon

Nicole, glad the kids are better, but that make-up homework is truly a bummer for all of you. All of you hang in there, and hope for a better weekend together. emoticon

emoticon on that exercise. Some of those low-impact days are just as good for us. It's the exercise that counts. I even did some lower weights at the gym yesterday. From what I am reading, you are doing a fantastic job this month. emoticon

As for me, well I'm still not doing good, and have given up March as a lost cause. Going to start both of us back on our diet on April 1. Am going to set up a week of meal plans, and try to get things cooked over the weekend for most of the next week ~ like the hard-boiled eggs, the rice/quinoa, etc. I will be spending more time in the kitchen again, and may have less time on my computer. I am thinking of goals, like no TV when I go to bed, no wine at dinner, and am going to have to spend less time on my computer, and more time on the things I need to get done. I really have been slipping in every aspect of my life. emoticon

Expecting freezing rain in the AM, so don't know if I'll get to the gym or not. If not, I really need to get in some exercise at home. Had dinner at the Common Man again tonight, and said this is the last meal we eat out for awhile !!

Hang in there, ladies...... emoticon

KIM - So glad you had a quick chance to write something short. Glad to hear you haven't gained - that's a plus!
emoticon
And also glad to hear you're still plugging along!
emoticon

I did get my workout in yesterday, although I kept it way low-impact and didn't use weights. So I was pretty proud of myself.

Tonight I'll be getting in another workout and may increase the impact a bit, but I'm not quite ready to go full-tilt high impact yet.

Both boys are back at school (YAY!) but the make-up homework is killing our evenings. Oh boy!
emoticon

Yes, we're finally supposed to get some warmer emoticon but with that comes rain. Today was sunny but still about 10 degrees cooler than normal. We're in the low-mid 40's today. The rest of the week and into the weekend is supposed to bring temps in the 50's but rain from Friday through Sunday. Great. Just Great.

At least it won't be freezing. I've got to look at the bright side.

Hi ladies,
I am going to keep this short and sweet! I have been very absent from this link, but I Have been creeping around the other threads in this team.. I just haven't had time to come and post anything more than a word or two... as it is, I have to run out in 5 minutes, so this will be short too.

Things have been really crazy at work and therefore, I can't say that I have been super good with my food and my exercise. But I have been chugging along. I haven't gained anything this week, but I also haven't lost anything.

As for weather - it's been chilly and snowy - so I am jealous, Nicole that you guys are going to get warm weather - it's only going to just start to warm up next week - but way below normal temperatures. Oh well - eventually, it will get warm - I have to believe it!!!!!

Anyways, I better get going! Hope everything is going well, everyone! Sorry again that this is so short!!!

Oh Bescats...so emoticon to see your posting!

Glad things are ok - sometimes I worry when I start to see people less and less on the threads - usually a sign they're going to disappear altogether. That worries me...especially with this team. You know for a long time I was the only one on this team posting? It's true! Then you showed up and made it AWESOME!

Anyway - the kids are starting to feel better. That's good. I had my ultrasound today and they decided to take a biopsy. OUCH!
emoticon
I thought I was going to pass out. I'm such a baby though.
emoticon
I have my next appointment in mid-March (right before we leave for Williamsburg) so I'll know more then. For now I just take it day by day and keep plugging on. I was hoping to workout tonight and I still might, I just may need to take it a little easier than usual.

DH is gearing up for a week-long trip to Pittsburgh next week. I'm so not looking forward to that. It's going to make for a very long week next week.

And yes, I've been doing well with my goals. My worry is that it's solely because I know I'm going to Florida in July and I want to be a certain weight when I get there. I'm a little nervous that once that trip is over and I get back to "normal", I won't be doing as well. I hope that's not the case but I have no idea how I'll react once I have nothing else to really look forward to for the rest of the year. Hopefully I'll be able to keep myself calm and under control...time will tell.

Kim - I hope everything is going well. I know your activity is way up there and at some point you'll start losing! emoticon

Looks like tomorrow is our last day in the 30's. Then by the weekend we'll be in the mid-50's! Can't wait. I hope Winter is gone for good now!

emoticon ladies,

No, we haven't given up, just some busy days, and I expect it will get much busier for all of us when the warm weather finally arrives. I have been reading everything, but haven't had much time to post on any of my teams. emoticon

I'm really sorry to hear that the kids are sick, Nicole. I'm glad it's nothing serious, but it is difficult on "Mom" when the little ones aren't feeling well. (of course, that includes hubby's, they are the biggest babies) emoticon

Nicole, you are the only one who has been doing a good job with your weight loss goal. emoticon to you for your hard work. Hopefully, you haven't undone everything with your bad weekend. I know I sure have been. We'll all feel more like sticking to our plans if and when the warm weather arrives. It has been a depressing month, and I don't think the snow is done yet, but glad we are not suppose to get the big storm this week.

Nothing much going on with me, just gaining weight, but still exercising. Trying to do better this week, but so far I don't think so. We celebrated over the weekend, going out to eat more than once. emoticon we bought a new car on Saturday. Well, new to us. We traded DH 2003 Buick LeSabre for a 2013 Buick Lacrosse. It really was a used car with low mileage, and a good deal for what we wanted. It's going to take awhile to get use to all the push buttons in it. It even has a push button start. Much smaller than the LeSabre, but DH really wanted a newer car. We still have my LeSabre, which we put up for the winter.
So, anyway, that's my exciting news !!

Don't know what Kim is doing, but probably still emoticon and staying busy with her job. Hope you are well, Kim !!

You are so right, Nicole, if we can get past this last blast of winter we will start feeling like getting back in shape. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Lots of warm emoticon's to make us feel better.

emoticon ladies !!

Hey Ladies! emoticon

I'm a little shocked no one's been on this thread since I posted on Friday. I hope everyone hasn't given up on our little team here!

emoticon

Well, I haven't been too great lately. I overate A LOT over the weekend and then yesterday I really did myself in. I went over my daily intake of calories by 700+ calories. Ugh. Butterfingers, chocolate chip cookies, and a few other "treats" did me in. I wish I didn't have them in my house!! Well, actually, the chocolate chip cookies aren't in the house anymore - they're gone. I finished off the bag yesterday. I feel emoticon

I think part of it is two sick kids, a change in my schedule yesterday (had to take one of my last 2 vacation days to stay home with the little guy), worries about money and this freaking weather! I'm at my wits' end!
emoticon

And I haven't worked out since I went for a leisurely walk on Saturday.

So tonight I'm getting my butt in gear. It's time to work out again. Luckily I'm back to work and I'm hoping that means I'll be on a more regular schedule. My youngest should go back to school tomorrow but my oldest is starting to have more aggressive symptoms...luckily he's old enough that if he has to stay home he can do so unsupervised. (They just have pretty bad colds...nothing serious)

I'm hopeful the rest of my week will improve.

BESCATS & KIM - I hope you two are doing well and hanging in here. Let's just get past this one last blast of winter and then we'll start kicking butt again!
emoticon

Miss you two!

Kim... emoticon job on getting in those workouts! You're doing great! It's so hard to balance food and exercise. Just keep plugging away...at some point it will click and you'll be on the road to your goal weight.
emoticon

Barb - MORE SNOW??? I'm so sorry to hear that. We were just talking about that and how much we all need to see more Spring-like weather. Old Man Winter should be committed!

We have a chance of snow again next week - someone at work mentioned they heard we could get a foot of snow. I think I'll seriously freak out if that happens.

I've been doing well - not great, just well. I actually overate the other night and I'm not even sure why. I've been feeling more and more hungry this week. As far as workouts go- I'm on track to hit my goal this week so that's a good thing.

Other than that, things are ok. My oldest son has been more and more challenging this week (could be the cause of that overeating) but I'm trying desperately to not allow him to dictate how I feel.

I hope you ladies have a great weekend! I'll try to get on the thread at least one day over the weekend. GOOD LUCK and KEEP PUSHING!

Bescats - emoticon back to you too!!!! Keep pushing hard - and don't slide too far down the slippery slope!!!! That's what I did, and now I can't get back up it! emoticon

Nicole - keep working hard! You are doing awesome!

As for me, I made it to a boot camp after work so I am pretty excited about that! It was a tough one, so hopefully I burnt a lot of calories!!! It also doesn't look like spring here - we got about 5 inches of snow and a really cold wind - but it will only last until tomorrow - Saturday is supposed to be nice and warm!

Just a short one today - life at work has been hectic and I haven't been sleeping well because I have been stressing a bit about it, so I am hoping to get to bed nice and early tonight.

Have a good one, ladies, and hang in there!!!!

I am still around ladies, just not very motivated lately. This has been my worst month ever, and I just keep telling myself to emoticon

Haven been doing to badly on the exercise, but "oh boy" the eating is bad !! emoticon

Well, enough emoticon over spilled milk, as they say. Time to move on.

Really doesn't look like the 1st day of Spring around my house. Got up to another 5 inches of heavy, wet snow this morning. So, got in my exercise with a shovel. I really would like to see some green grass, flowers, and buds on the trees. emoticon

Nicole, I'm glad to hear that things are getting back on track for you, and that you are seeing more signs of Spring than I am. emoticon

Kim, hang in their girl. Things will get better for you to. emoticon

If you haven't failed, you haven't lived !

emoticon ladies!

Kim - thanks for the encouragement. Yes, things are starting to finally get back on track for me. Hopefully they'll stay that way for more than a few days. I sure hope things are going to get better for you soon. This change at work - is it something that can be changed or do you have absolutely no control over it?

Barb - I sure hope all is well with you. emoticon on this thread!

Today was a rough day at work - some changes are coming down the pipe that I don't agree with at all... and it's making it tough to get my work done and to focus on what needs to be done... and it's stressing me out - and I am a major stress eater... so needless to say, I am eating all the time non-stop!!!! Which is not helping me!!!! So, even though I am getting some exercise in, it's not counter acting the food... UGH!!!!!

Besides that.. it has been relatively warm here... by that I mean 0 C (but that is much better than the -40 C that we sometimes saw). So, I can't complain. The warm weather is also making me crave getting outside!!! I am still not at the part where I want to go for walks, but I am wanting to get outside, so that's motivating me to get some exercise.

Anyways... besides that, not a whole lot to report!

Nicole, don't feel too bad about not getting in your exercise today - it sounds like you're making a good choice skipping it instead of stressing yourself out trying to fit it in.

Bescats - hope all is going well!

Kim - if ANYONE can do it, YOU CAN! Keep emoticon

Spring had BETTER show up soon! We keep getting teases then winter grabs us again. I'm really tired of it too. So many people are as well. Too bad we can't vote Old Man Winter out of office! emoticon

I'm doing well. My eating is getting back to normal and I've worked out two days in a row. Tonight I'm taking the night off due to the tutor being at our house and an appointment tonight at 7pm. It's just too rushed if I try to fit in a workout then I feel more stressed out than anything. Tomorrow night I'll go back to working out.

I hope everyone is having a good start to this week. And tomorrow we're almost over the hump and it's all downhill from there!
emoticon

Hopefully we all get some emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Just a quick one tonight as it's late and I am tired.

The spring will never come... of that I am pretty convinced!!! It better get here though, cause I am sick and tired of the cold!

I got up early this morning (5:30) and went swimming - my first time in the pool since October.. and I sure felt it!!! It was tougher than I thought... tougher than I remember. I guess that's what happens when I don't swim for 5 months!!! I better get at it if I have plans of doing a triathlon this summer - although that will all depend on my knees.

Good to see you are both in good spirits!

Bescats - hope your St. Patricks Day dinner was good!
Nicole - your dinner sounds equally delicious!!!

Have a great day tomorrow, ladies!

Thanks for the St. Patty's Day "luck"! Any good luck is worthwhile to me. I'll take it in a heartbeat!

I hear ya on the workout vs. cleaning issue. I'm almost opposite though. I do enjoy cleaning my house and seeing it shiny and filth-free. I have found my mood and the cleanliness of my house are directly related. Sometimes that's a good thing, other times it's not. But working out - BORING. I enjoy it, to a point. But I don't feel the same way after working out as I do when I've really cleaned my house.

Anyway, no special St. Patrick's Day meal for us tonight. Just pork chops and au gratin potatoes and string beans.

Barb - I have a feeling this never-ending winter is wreaking havoc on all of us. I bet once the weather gets warm (and stays warm) and the sun is shining you'll feel more motivated again. Just wait and see!

emoticon Just a quick HI from me tonight. emoticon

I have been very busy today trying to catch up on some housework, and I am very tired tonight. I don't know why I can workout for 2 hours and not get tired, but can't push that vacuum and dust without getting exhausted. I think I like one better than the other. emoticon

I have NOT done a good job with my eating or my weight this past week. I just can't seem to stay with it. My exercise has been okay, but not as good as it was. I keep saying it's just "cabin fever", and things will get better when Spring arrives. I sure hope I'm right !!

Our oldest son & wife are coming over tomorrow afternoon for some corned beef & cabbage on St. Paddy's Day !! I am of Irish decent, so seems very fitting. I haven't made, what I call, a New England boil dinner, for a long time.

If I don't get to talk to you guys (Nicole & Kim) tomorrow, have a great Saint Patrick's Day !! I'm sending you both some "luck of the Irish". emoticon emoticon

Hi ladies,

I have been around, creeping and reading your posts, but I haven't really had the energy to post much lately! I haven't slept well the last few days, and with a late hockey game last night, I didn't sleep all that well last night either! Oh well, life will go on!

I have been enjoying the nice warm weather. My mom and I went pussy willow hunting in the country-side yesterday! It was a lot of fun!!! Good fresh air and good laughs as we fell in the snow banks and got tangled in the trees.

Bescats, I hope you are recovering from your snow shoveling. And I hope for your sake, there is no more snow... but I must admit, I'd rather you guys get it, then us! A lot of our snow is gone.. and we DON'T WANT any more!!!!

Nicole, glad to hear you are starting to feel a bit better. Hopefully you can get back on track!!!

Have a good rest of your Sunday ladies and talk to you later!!!

This is the best I can do, Bescats emoticon
I hope that helps!

emoticon

I honestly think slowing down and taking it easy has been helpful. I haven't worked out since Tuesday or Wednesday night (I can't remember off the top of my head) but I'm feeling a little more rested and not quite as exhausted during the day. Overall my sleeping has been better, although last night I was up for about an hour tossing and turning - not quite awake enough to read, but definitely not fast asleep.

I'm looking to start incorporating my exercise routine again this week. I'm planning on working out today and then a few days during the week as well. We'll see how this goes. Hopefully I am more acclimated to the time change now and I can build up my workouts again to my pre-DST levels.

Bescats - I hope you find some relief this week. I haven't been watching the weather forecasts that closely. But I do know there's a chance of snow for us tonight into tomorrow morning. I'm thoroughly over winter. I don't understand why it insists on trying to remain friends with all of us. IT'S OVER! LOL! Go away! I hope you don't get any more bad weather this week Barb. Your back, hands and mind could use the rest.
emoticon

Kim - I hope things are going well for you. I saw you tracking your activity on Friday but haven't really been on Spark since then. GOOD WORK!
emoticon

Let's make this week the week we all get totally on track!

A good plan, Nicole. Trying to push yourself through exhaustion just won't work. Your body is trying to tell you something ~ listen to it. Taking it easy may help your sleep continue to get better. Hope the massage helps the back.

My back has been bothering me for a few days, and shoveling didn't help !! I went to the gym today, but didn't do many of my weight exercises because I wanted to be careful of my back. Then I went grocery shopping this afternoon, and walking that much didn't help it. Boy, do I feel like an old lady tonight. Oh yea, I am !! emoticon

Well, I gained a pound last week which didn't surprise me. I didn't get as much exercise, and I had about 3 days of eating over my calorie range, and all the wrong foods. Today hasn't been much better. Time for a good "head slap" for me.

Have a great weekend Kim and Nicole !! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
