We have been having unusual mild winter so I just started hiking a few days ago. It feels really good and I hope my foot holds up this year. I have plantar facitis and it is really hard to take care of sometimes.

I like to hike too, but only do it now when we are on vacation. This past June we hiked in 3 parks out west, and the summer before we hiked in Maine. Very different landscapes, but both beautiful. It's my favorite way to vacation.

My husband and I love to hike and California has a lot to offer in that area. However, it gets dark so early now it is more difficult to get any hiking in. Tonight, when football is over, we plan to go to the mall and walk. It's a poor substitute for hiking, but at least it is warm and well lit.

I also love to be outside. Hiking in the mountains or near the lakes locally is meditation to me and good for the soul. Unfortunately, as I've become older and more sedentary, I don't enjoy the winter as much as I used to. I'm using my treadmill, but can't wait for the snow to melt, temps to rise and plants to green. I love summer!
