I wonder what is with the Hernando people? I never see anyone in the Florida team from my county. I am pretty close to the Citrus county line, I hardly see anyone from there either. Do you have the same problem with Pasco? Do you have any walking buddies way down there?

HELLO AND WELCOME!

I'm doing okay, I came up a little shy of my September goal, but it was only by a pound.

Maybe i'll just add it to my October goal.
I am currently sitting at 187 and i'm hoping to be in the 170's by Halloween.

Everyone welcome our newest member: BOOKWORMBIKER!

How's everyone doing on their goals? I'm doing okay maintaining, but I really want to head back on the losing track. I'm hoping that when I start my new full-time job I can get back into a schedule that includes tracking and daily fitness again.

If anyone is looking for a walking partner, let me know. Maybe we can meet somewhere close for both of us.

I go walking around my neighborhood. I have it mapped out so I can do increments of 1/2 mile. I used to do 3 miles, but if I wanted to add or decrease that based on my mood, energy or my walking buddy's needs I can do it easily. There's also a nice path in a park on Spring Hill drive that I've been to.

September is here; a new month, a clean slate. As the hot weather starts to back off I'm going to start hitting the parks to do some outdoor walking. Tom Varn has a really nice shaded trail and it is only a 20 minute drive. I think I'll start with that once first. Where do you go walking?

My dad is a carpenter and my parents owned their own company until they retired last year. I helped them in their home office from time to time.

I grew up on a farm. My daughter used to have a cuban tree frog and then a leopard gecko. Right now we have two dogs and two cats. One day I'd love to have a working ranch.

I'm not a big cook either, but I love being creative anywhere, including the kitchen. Everyone tells me I should sell my fudge. I've created some interesting flavor combinations. I love using the crock pot. We get into Halloween, too. However, I'm not on either of those teams.

I guess we do have some parallels :) Let's see what else I can tell you . Um, I had a hip replacement in Nov 2013 and i'm doing at home rehab. My husband and I own a small trim carpentry company of which he and I are the only employees, we have a small home office here at the house and of course he works on location. Our company works for many of the key builders here in Hernando and Pasco and Citrus counties. Uh, we love animals and have recently sold our farm opting to keep small indoor animals instead, like birds and reptiles. This has really lifted the burden on my husband since I could no longer work the farm and the older kids are off at college. I really don't like to cook so I joined a crock pot team and I love Halloween so i'm on a team for that too...

We have a few parallels. I also graduated from HHS, but in 1985. We live close to the same area. I write, and have several projects in various stages. Nothing major published, yet. I blame working more lately, but I'm also easily distracted sometimes, lol.

My youngest is also 13, but not a twin, so we have 4 kids instead of 5. :) I have an autistic niece and have seen some but can only imagine most of the challenges (and blessings) that has put in your path.

So.... since it's just me and you at the moment.. I'm in Hernando County on the west side, just a few miles North of the Weeki Wachee attraction. I am a stay at home mom. My husband and I have five children, three are out of the house and the two that remain with us are 13 year old autistic twin girls.

I grew up in Pasco County. I graduated from Hudson High in 1991. From Pasco Hernando Community college in 94. I was medically discharged from USF in 1996.

I like to write short fantasy fiction stories and I currently have a novel outline in progress, but on hold so I can concentrate on my health.

How about you?

How is everyone doing?

I'm trying to get on track again and, at least this week, I've done some sort of activity each day.

Good luck to you all on your fitness journey.

How's everyone doing on their goals?

I'm doing more fitness activities, but still not regularly and at the level I was before. I'm not going to let it get me down. I'm gonna keep at it! I need to keep remembering that I need to make it happen. No one else. It's an easy thing to forget.

Be happy everyone.

Hey local Sparkers!

How have you all been? How are you doing on your goals?

I keep slipping, and going on a cruise last week didn't help any, lol. I didn't do too badly and I am recovering, but it gets frustrating, too. The good thing is I had a blast! Now back to normal and working my way back to healthy habits.

Hope you guys are doing well.

I've been doing well maintaining, which would be good except that I'm still trying to lose more, lol. Ah well, if I could motivate myself to get back to working out, that might happen.

Great idea compensating with a super healthy dinner! No sense in getting down on yourself for that stuff :)

One of my original goals with spark people was to check nutrition before I went out to eat, so I learned pretty quick where and what I could eat when not eating at home. Taco Bell has nothing I want to eat because anything that would fit in my tracker wouldn't fill me up and leave me satisfied. When the kids are desperate for Taco Bell, then I head to the local Chinese place that offers a big helping of steamed shrimp, chicken and veggies for the same calorie count (and loads less fat) as two tacos. Usually I can't eat the whole thing in one sitting!

Thanks Redwritinghood! Each day I feel better and I am able to get around more-still against doctor's orders. I made a BIG mistake today though. We went to Taco Bell for lunch and I ordered what I thought was a not too heavy lunch-1 Beefy crunch burrito and 1 Spicy Buffalo chicken griller. I also had a Pina Colada Freeze. I entered it all in my food tracker and was SHOCKED by the over 1,000 calories and 37 grams of fat I ate! Luckily, I hadn't had breakfast and can have a super healthy dinner. Water will be the beverage of the day from here on out. I love being back with Sparkpeople!

Happy Monday all! For many of us it's our first day back to work after July 4th. For me, it's my first day back after surgery last week. It was a little rough but I made it! Climbing the stairs and coming back down was probably not a good choice but accompanying the student is in my job description. I am relaxing now with ice on my hip as I have only taken one pain pill since surgery. I don't like meds, especially pain meds but that's another story. Sending you all wishes for a happy day to start a successful week! emoticon

Hi Patti!

Welcome to the group :)

Nope. No teaching job, yet. I've been searching for both teaching and advising (at the college level) positions. I'll admit that I've been searching harder for the advising positions, though. I'm not worried. The job for me will present itself if I'm persistent and patient :)

Redwritinghood, have you found a teaching position yet? I am certified in K-6 and ESE but have not gotten hired yet. My degree is not in teaching but I have been an ESE para for 4 years now.

Welcome to our new members :)

How's everyone doing with their goals? I'm maintaining, which is better than gaining, I guess. I'm happy, the kids are happy, and we're all healthy :)

It's been cold here, but not that cold!

I've been trying to catch up on things that I've been putting off because of school. I also need to apply for my certs with the DOE.

Everyone seems to be rather spread out. We might need to try to get a couple different groups together.

How are you doing now that school is back in full swing?
I'm still in North Carolina, but I'm getting very tired of COLD! It was 20 this morning and the lows are expected to be in the 20s for at least a week. I'm longing for Florida warmth.

Did you decide on a time to walk together?

I'm glad the kids are great and that you are keeping on track. Way to go. I'm just trying to make it to Tuesday. Love the boys but haven't had any good me time since December 17th, so I'm looking forward to school starting back up even if I'm not looking forward to homework.

My Goals: 10% at a time.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I'm celebrating the new year with an announcement in the the coordinating activities discussion forum :) Specifically for Hernando Co. but north Pasco or south Citrus might want to respond, too :)

And do you have a school in mind where you do or do not want to work? Perhaps you'd better send Sparkmail for this one, especially if you have some places you don't want to work.

For example, Fox Chapel Middle School is looking for an ESE teacher now.
Have you thought of job sharing to start with so that you could work either in the morning or afternoon?

Either a part-time advising position or working as an ESE or Reading resource teacher. I prefer part-time right now (I want to be "mom" for a while before I go full time).

Sorry, I thought I had put in a response in all the active blogs so I'd know when something was posted here. I've not received any notifications. Congratulations on your graduating with honors. Do you have a position lined up after Christmas?

The weather was certainly beautiful today. I'm going swimming after I finish this. I should be walking (training for virtual 5 K) but it might be cooler tomorrow, so swimming today, walking tomorrow.

I'm still chugging along in my final internship, but graduation is finally over the horizon! I can't wait. It's been a long time in coming. :)
