I made this last night (without the meatballs). I expected it to be some what ho hum just from reading the ingredient list. It was surprisingly good! The red pepper flakes added a nice kick to the sauce.
next time I will use a different pasta besides spaghetti, as the sauce does not really cling to the pasta. Campenelle would probably be a better choice.

I have a turkey burger recipe that uses only turkey breast but the secret to making it moist was the addition of 1/2 can of turkey or chicken broth mixed into the burger and let it set for 15 minutes before making burgers or meatballs. Also, never press the burgers to flatten while cooking. It squeezes out the juices.

I strive to remain active and energetic thru my 50's and be a healthier me.

It is vital that you buy a good quality / brand of ground turkey! I buy Jennie-O. I never buy the "logs" of frozen! Good Luck! emoticon

I definitely agree. It is difficult to get turkey meat fixed so it is flavorful. I had an unfortunate incident, and it may be a while before I begin using the turkey again.

I agree on the typo! And highly encourage retrying turkey, ESP in this and CHILI! Also, I buy lean, not 100% turkey breast which is dry and not as tasty. It is worth the little fat for the added moisture and FLAVOR!

So much depends on the seasoning and how you cook the turkey. That burger you had may have been poorly seasoned and overcooked til it was too dry...I think that is a common mistake, easily made. I'm not the biggest fan of turkey burgers still -- although I like them okay. But, I loved these turkey meatballs and turkey chili is fabulous!

emoticon I had a turkey burger years ago and didn't finish it. I am afraid to try anything made with it now. I have heard nothing but ravings on the turkey meatloaf and now the sauce. It has convince me to try it.

Oh thank goodness!! I can handle 7.3g! :) I thought the sauce was very good too. I had it with the turkey meatballs, and it was delicious! Thank you for checking into this.

You made me go back to the book to look this up myself. I make this dish a few weeks ago (and loved it), and can't believe that it is that high in fat. Yes, the book really does show it at 57.3g fat per serving. I checked the SP nutrition tracker and it shows as 7.3g fat. I'd say the 7.3 is accurate and they extra "5" was a typo in the book. I'm going to write in the change in my book.

How'd you like the sauce? I thought it was yummy.

Can anyone verify that the total fat of the weeknight spaghetti is 57.3 grams per serving? Does this seem super high to you? It is just pasta, sauce and a little cheese.... Maybe it is 57.3 grams for the whole recipe, and so I should divide it by four since it makes four servings??
