The recipe does call for a 14.5 oz can. This error will be fixed in the next printing of the cookbook. Good catch and thank you for letting us know.

I do not think there is a 4.5 oz can but there is a 14.5 oz...and it makes sense!
Glad to know it turned out well...also, if you want to reduce sodium buy no salt added...I do it all the time and you really do not miss it with tomatoes and beans!

I made the minestrone soup yesterday and it is excellent. I see the recipe called for a 4.5 oz can of diced tomatoes. I'm assuming it was meant to be a 14.5 oz. can. That is what I added and it turned out fine. Was I correct in assuming it was to be 14.5 oz and not 4.5 oz?
