If you have an old-fashioned box grater, you can just use the small side. Zesting is easy, once you get the hang of it. Just don't get down into the white part of the peeling and you'll be fine!

The best zester I have ever had is a Chef'N - Palm Zester - I have to get them from USA now as Aussie shops don't stock them!!
No mess, fine zest in a container ready for use - you can't beat that!! And they are cheap!!
Try Amazon!!

Thanks so much Samantha! I am going to be checking that out soon.

Hallelul-Thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one. I love to try new recipes but sometimes when they require something I don't know how or heard of it stears me away and I'm hoping that as time goes by no recipe that I want to try will intimidate me. :)

I'm feeling pretty stupid in asking this, but hoping once I find out I will feel a bit smarter.

There is a recipe that requires me to zest an orange. Well I have an idea on how to do that but I've never zested anything before. Is there a place on this site that has a video of it being done?

Thanks In Advance.
