This morning Abi and I took the kids to the science museum. I renewed the membership. It pays for itself after 3 trips, and it's nice to have a prepaid outing. I plan to get us zoo membership as well. The nice thing is, these things are reciprocal with other zoos and museums. We may take a day trip to Buffalo or Syracuse during vacations, for a change of scenery! Shel

Gave me a chuckle, Shel. It is a beautiful day here today, supposed to be warmer but with a strong south wind it will not feel warmer.

Yesterday when I came home from my dental appointment I saw my DD had prepared stuffed cabbage, and they were sitting there all nice in the crockpot. I said, "OOooo, stuffed cabbage! Um...YOu want me to turn the crockpot ON?" She said, "You've got to be KIDDING! They've been sitting there for TWO HOURS!?" That's what we call SLOW cooking! Shel

Marlene glad there are some things you can do in your house now. I guess patience is always something we are working on. ;-)
Shelley glad you can track sodium. I stopped adding as much salt as they say in recipes and not have have a salt shaker on my table. It is hidden in so many things.
My children are such a blessing to me during this tough time and I am so truly thankful the Lord had given me so very much! How can I ever praise Him enough?
Hugs to you Dear Friends! Daddy'sGirl

Not much doing today, I went to the new house for awhile and put liners in drawers. I need to work on the cabinets. I like to have something to keep the cabinets nice. It is so cold in the house, my hands and feet got cold, it was actually warmer outside. The electrician is supposed to come next week and also the house people are sending someone to get the pipes under the house in order. It will probably still be three weeks before I can move and that will be time for our farm equipment auction. All in due time, I must learn patience.

Marlene, sodium has always been a challenge for me. I hate to think of what it must have been BEFORE I added it to my tracker! I've been going overboard on my calories lately. The good thing is, they've usually been "good" calories - like, not empty junky stuff. Shel

The sun is shining today but not really getting very warm. But the direct sun does melt some of the snow. It will take quite a while for it to melt off at the new house and then for the mud to dry up some before we can dig and put in water and sewer lines. I drove to town this morning while the roads were still frozen. Where people drove in the mud yesterday was really rough as they left all kids of tracks and it was really teeth jarring to drive on. I came back a different road that was not as bad and now I am staying home for the rest of today. I had something I wanted to check on at the house and a man was there working on the carpet and such. They will be done before we get the utilities in.
My blood pressure goes up and down but mostly up but my provider does not seem to be too concerned. Maybe I need to find a different provider or quit worrying so much. I hope this settles down when I get moved and settled. I try really hard to watch the salt but not watching my diet very good calorie wise.

Sloppy heavy wet snow through the night and morning. YUCK! Did 30 minutes on the bike and so far the first set of my leg exercises. Will do second set during a break - to keep moving around. Brought my lunch - apple, orange, peppers and home made nutbutter on Ezekiel bread (yum!) Shel

Thanks, yes the computer works with the generator also TV and everything else. The sun is shining today and is so much more cheerier. Same temp as yesterday when it was snowing which seems strange. The wind is not blowing and the sun is melting snow even if it is not warm out. My drive way will take a while to thaw. It is supposed to be in the 30s most of the week.

I finally paid off the last of my late husband's hospital bills! Yippee!
I also got a letter from my son's ex-wife, to whom I had sent money for my other 2 grands - one of whom I've never met. It was pleasantly reconciliatory, complete with invitation to come any time to visit them. She suggested summer so's not to interfere with school, but of course I'll be recuperating from hip surgery We'll see...Anyway, it was nice.Shel

My generator is on the yard light pole. It is run by a tractor and powers the whole house. It is not one that makes the fumes and the tractor is far enough away from the house that it is not a danger either. It is running now and will run all night unless the tractor runs out of fuel. It is snowing and the wind is blowing, I am hoping that it is out of here soon. I also have carbon dioxide detectors in the house and one in the garage.

I have a 4x4 Explorer. I got out and went to church yesterday and then I went to town and did some shopping. It was a beautiful day but oh so muddy. It started raining here around midnight and now it is snowing. I think the electricity will go out before long. It is starting to flicker and when it goes it will not be fixed for a few days. My nephew will come and get the generator started if he can get here. Could snow up to 20 inches before it stops. The wind is really high.
Yes, I have a telephone and a cell phone. I can use my lap top for about an hour after I lose power but the router will go off with the electricity. I called the post office and no mail delivery today and maybe not tomorrow. Fine with me because I could not get to my mailbox at the end of the driveway. I am okay and I do have propane heat in the garage so could go sleep in the car. Thanks for being concerned. Marlene

Oh, Marlene, poor dear - glad you still have internet and the water is running again.Do you have phone? Is there anyone you can call on to plow/dig you out? Perhaps the kitties will sharpen their hunting skills and get some mousies and rats! Spring WILL come! Shel

Shelley - thanks for not being offended. I felt like one of the people I used to fuss about that would look at my beautiful baby girl dressed in pink and bow on her head (hair non existent), ruffly socks and girl shoes and they'd say "What a handsome little boy!" What!! What are you looking at? lol
Marlene glad your home is warm and the water is now running freely! Come moving time I think you will burn off those calories that are adding up at the moment!! Wish I lived close enough to come help you? Is there anyone you can call for help making a path! Used to be teen boys would come asking to do it for a small fee but they don't seem to do that anymore! That was usually good pay when I was a teen babysitting girl. ;-)

Still snowed in. I got up at three and checked the temp and it was 10.(down to 7 at 5) Panic!! I checked the water faucets and most of it was frozen, a couple cold water ones still would run. I went to the utility room where I thought I had a heater running but it was off. I got it to going and turned the faucets on enough to drip and went to the other rooms. I shut the bathroom doors, opened the shower door and turned up the heat. I could not go back to sleep from worrying about them. About 4:30 I heard water running. yeah!!! water running, I put the running ones to a slow stream but hot water was still not running. Now they are all running and I could take a shower but already dressed. Can't go anywhere anyway. I do wish someone would clear a path for me so I could feed the cats in the barn, never got them fed yesterday, they might have froze to death last night. I have a four wheel drive but still afraid I would get stuck in the driveway. So what am I doing??? baking and eating and eating and eating. Bad on the old body.

No problem, Daddy's Girl. I used to have this wood-frame canopy set-up that I'd made, and I painted very clearly on the "table guard" (the board that ran across the front kind of at table level) "Hand formed creations in clay" and I would bring clay with me and do some work right on the spot between customers. And I'd STILL get questions like, "Where do you keep your molds?" (because for the variety I have, you'd need a huge room to store them all!) With clay in hand I'd just look up and say, "I don't. They're all hand-formed." Then they'd suddenly SEE. Shel

I think maybe the snow is over for now. It snowed in the night quite a bit again and not sure if I could get my vehicle out of the garage if I wanted to. They said another storm was coming this way but looks like it went west of us and north. The storms are headed north to Nebraska and on north. Kansas is getting it now up to 20 inches or more in some places. We really needed all of it. I am hoping the county comes by with a road grader and moves the snow off the road, be nice if they would do my driveway, too. We probably had six inches and four last week. As far as the house, I could not move in this weather. The man is there working on the inside and will be back Monday. Not sure what comes next but we can't put in the water and sewer lines until the snow melts and dries up some. Also no electricity yet, waiting on the electric company for some of that.

Abi (Glitterfairy77) and I are going to go to Wegmans today - we'll do subs for lunch. Tomorrow I definitely want to tackle the clay. I have an order for 5 dogs, and I offered to do my cousin's 2 cats for old time's sake. Then since I don't have that much clay left, I want to see if I can use it up on "stock" pieces before I order more (probably after I get my tax return.) Vacation - ha! Shel

Still waiting, house finishers were supposed to be there this afternoon but the were not there by four so I came home. Surely they won't come this late. Not doing much and getting tired of living in the middle of boxes feel like I should call the hoarders show. Windy today, supposed to be nice tomorrow and then rain all day Wednesday. We need the rain.

I'm taking tomorrow off from work. See today's blog. But the cool thing is, the Lord knew I needed some extra prayer support, and when I called my friend in Lima, peru to tell her what was up, she said she and her husband the pastor had been sensing that I was sad, and were already praying for me. Our Father knows just what we need! Shel

I am such a morning person. Iwent to bed last night at 8! Tonight the pastors from my newer church are coming over for a get-to-know-each-other visit. Now that I've broken up with levi, I need to consider - shall I stay with this church, or go back to my original? I love both, feel at home in both, but each has a different flavor. Since my former one changed buildings, they've been meeting evenings - and I am no night owl. For that reason alone I would probably stay at the bilingual! Decisions, decisions. I want to be where God wants me to be. Shel

I have been so busy. My grandson and helpers have the lot cleaned off and leveled so the foundation people can come and put down the foundation. Then when it sets a few days the house will come. Today my sister had surgery but she is doing good. Long day of waiting and I am really tired. I was up at 4:30, now I need a nap. Come and help me pack. I need Help. Marlene

Marlene, how exciting, though!
A couple years ago during a proctoring assignment ( exam week) I met a young fellow, and we struck up a conversation, and ever since, when we'd see each other in the halls, we'd greet each other. Earlier this semester we "friended" each other on facebook, and he'll occasionally drop me an IM. Then Friday during my proctoring assignment, he stopped by before his exam and we got to talking about spiritual matters, and I ended up giving him a nutshell gospel message, and asked if he wanted to come to church with me. So, he came with me yesterday, and said he liked it, and would like to come again next week. When there was an invitation to accept Christ, I asked him if he wanted to go forward, and he said since it was his first time there, no, but maybe next week. We'll see. Mainly I am glad to have him attending to get some good seed planted! Shel

Finalized the house Friday and they started building immediately, saying that the house will probably be ready for transport this weekend. I about panicked, I thought we would have longer than that to get the lot cleared and the foundation in. Grandson says we will make it, I am excited but was not expecting to have be ready so quick. I thought I would have to go shopping for curtains but all the windows have blinds and a valance. That will give me time to change if I want later. They will have to finish the house on the inside where the seam is. I was told that would probably be 21 working days which I really doubt, time will tell.

Interesting day here. I was cleaning out my DH's hat (caps) collection and found an old sack that was full of pictures. Now we moved here almost 25 years ago so I am thinking those pictures were up there all this time. I had been looking for some of them, it was a nice surprise and I spent most of the afternoon remembering times past. Wedding pictures of my son's first wedding in 1978 and then my daughter's that was two months later. Also some trips we took when the kids were still home. It was so much fun to go through those pictures. We were married 58 and half years when DH passed. Lot of memories in those years.

Marlene so glad you can move where you will be happier! Small towns are so nice and if you already know folks there that is even better!!
Shelley that is almost a quote from the Disney Movie Pollyanna!! Love your positive attitude! ;-)
Have a great day everyone! Hope the Sun is Shining!! Hugs and Blessings, Daddy'sGirl

The house I live in is not mine and I want to get off the dirt roads. I am excited, the town I will move to is really small and almost like living in the country.
Just wanted to share this. Words to live by.
Jesus reminds us, using the pen of an imprisoned Paul, And this is the reason I am in prison. 4 Pray that I will be able to preach so everyone can understand. This is the way I should speak. 5 Be wise in the way you live around those who are not Christians. Make good use of your time. 6 Speak with them in such a way they will want to listen to you. Do not let your talk sound foolish. Know how to give the right answer to anyone. (Colossians 4:3-6)

Marlene, is that going to be hard to do? I occasionally go to "my little old lady" who is now in a senior (assisted living) center, and the adjustment seems very difficult for her. It could be due to other issues - she seems a bit paranoid that the nurses are adding laxatives to her food or some such. It is difficult to change from what is familiar to us. I try to take the attitude that this is not my Home anyway - another permanent One awaits me. If we look for things to criticize, we will most certainly find them. Likewise, if we look for the good in things, we will find IT as well. Focus on the positive! God give you grace for any change! Shel

Sorry I have not been here. I was gone a few days, I went with Grandson and his family to look at modular houses. I am planning of moving off the farm. We had some really nice weather but today is cold again. I washed my car when it was warm, sure glad I got it done while it was warmer.
Time for bed.

Thanks for sharing and so glad you both could laugh about it!! LOL Long time friends are such treasures!! ;-)
A friend and I joined the intermural volleyball team. She jumped up for a ball and twisted her ankle as she came down and broke a bone in her foot. Hearing it pop made her faint. She looked so comical as she passed out. She has never let me forget that she woke up hearing me laugh! ;-)

Daddy's Girl, I gotta share this one thing that happened at the camping trip. I was standing on the picnic table to open the roof of the canopy, and my friend Carol said "I'll spot you." Flashback, highschool gym class. Acrobatics. Carol and I managed to slip to the back of each line and avoid all events when the stations changed - until the teacher caught up with us at the pony vault. Carol says, 'I'll spot you." I go over, don't let go in time, and land flat on my face, with the wind knocked out of me. Back to camping - I bust out laughing. Carol:"oh, God, you remember!" Shel

We had strong winds during the night and they continue today - not surprisingly, the area has a high wind warning. No broken windows, thank God.
Today is my monthly Scrabble game with 3 high school buddies. Not the one where I work - we've been FRIENDS since high school. We'd been out of touch for a number of years, and would occasionally see each other at art shows where I participated, and little bylittle started to get together to play Scrabble. A few years ago we even went on a camping trip together - picture 4 women in their fifties setting up a tent! (We had an air mattress though, hahahaha) Anyway, now we plan a game a month in advance, to make sure we stay in touch. We bring mostly healthful things to eat (one is diabetic) and spend a good 4 hours or more together, just talking about family and work and whatever. Good times! Shel
