It has been a little quiet the last couple days.
I have been successful keeping intake within my desired range! Drinking more water as well.
Weight back down at 240# so just need to ramp up the exercise.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone!!!

I jumped right back on track after my birthday meal. That makes me feel very powerful!

I have taken a few days off of exercise. My total focus has been on preparing for this interview. I will be happy when the interview is over so I can get back to my real life.

Happy Birthday Candy!!!

I'm doing okay - not great - just okay - having a hard time getting fitness in right now.

Need to sacrifice sleep to get to gym in AM because the girls activities are going on pretty much every night. Eating high end of my calorie allowance - not losing but not gaining weight.

Tomorrow I hope to start a solid week at the low end.

Nice job KJ! Doesn't pay to overdo at first, and 21 minutes is really great.

Happy Birthday, Candy!!! Sounds like you had a nice night out, and I completely get what you're saying about allowing yourself a meal that might not be ideal as far as nutrition goes. That used to get me off track too. Also thinking I had to be perfect about exercise and eating, and that I was a failure if I messed up. And to make it worse, I felt like I had to eat next to nothing, and when I did, it was stuff like rice cakes or other food that I wasn't crazy about. Once I figured out the healthy foods I loved and now eat enough of those, I've done much better. I don't run around like before feeling completely deprived, so I'm less likely to go completely off track, and then just beat myself up for being a failure and quit again. Vicious little circle I used to have going. So glad I discovered SP and you guys!

BTW, those fish packets came out great. I cooked it on the grill so the house didn't get that fishy smell. Spinach + capers = yummy. DH loved it and wants me to try it with scallops next. Guess we're like you that we like to change up recipes all the time.

Going out for a walk now that it's finally stopped raining here. Hope everyone has a good day!

Spinach make anything good!!!! emoticon Let me know how the fish packets turn out. We love fish.

I just looked up a frittata recipe and then added veggies that we love. I think it would be fun to have a different way every time.

Celebrated my Birthday with boiled shrimp tonight. I splurged and had some fries and had two beers. I think you have to celebrate and enjoy a special meal or two once in a while. But, I have to be very careful to avoid the all or none mindset. I think that is what has sabotaged every attempt I have ever made at weight loss. I eat one non healthy meal and I declare months of healthy eating over. I think if I could break that bad habit, I could be successful for life. I enjoy healthy food, so there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to eat healthy the majority of the time with out coming unglued over having some nachos at a football game or going to a fish fry.

Good for you, Candy, on upping the fruits & veggies. Frittata sounds awesome. You need to share that recipe, please!! I'm making these fish in foil packets tonight and cooking on the grill:

Great job Jan and Paul!!!!! I made the new threads. I hope I explained the concept well enough. If not feel free to clarify what I meant to everyone. emoticon

Except for a couple slices of bacon... I have been eating really healthy. I have dramatically cut back on meat and carbs. Eating a lot of fruits and veggies. I have enjoyed being creative to find new ways to eat the veggies. The hubby and I made our first Frittata tonight. YUMMY!!!!!

Awesome on your streak! And yeah, eating on the run is not ideal, but comes with the territory with kids, at least when mine were younger. If you are still staying in range most of the time, then you are doing great!

I'm still no dessert all month and have been keeping away from the popcorn. I was tempted when I had to walk by a big display at the grocery store yesterday, but I thought of my streak.

Hi everyone!!

I expect to hear about successes here!

I am still on my no candy at work and no donut streak!!! Oh yeah!!!
I am exercising more and more and walking relatively pain free - Oh yeah!!!

I am eating so - so - mostly in the upper end of my calorie range - Yikes but things will get easier once Softball season is over. Something about grabbing food on the run messes with the diet.

Paul I bet it was so cool when you put on the clothes that wouldn't fit before! Congrats!!!


That is a reward thing that I do for myself. I get the next size smaller jeans out of the closet and try them on. Usually they are too small to even come close to closing let alone being able to actually wear. Then I eat right and exercise until they fit. I love the feeling that I have earned wearing those jeans.

This time I have gotten so big that I had to buy bigger blouses. So I have a pretty blouse hanging in my exercise room. By golly I am going to wear that blouse one of these days. And I will rock it!!!!

I am down 6.2 pounds for the week. Woo hoo!
The biggest interview of my life is April 16th, so I have a little over a week to make a difference in how my suit will fit. Obviously I can't make a tremendous difference by then, but every pound is one less pound. The suit fits pretty nice already, but there is plenty of room for improvement. Sorry for the pun. lol

You are doing awesome!

I managed to get a lot of physical labor in today despite my stupid cold. The hubby and I worked outside for about 4 hours. It wore me out and I had to take a few breaks, but I really enjoyed being outside. I swear when this cold is gone I am going to feel like a million dollars!

Try to avoid cookies and all you think about is cookies.

Rules are better.

No Donuts in 2014 is a rule. I can not have donuts in 2014 - period.
No Candy at work in 2014 is a rule. A dumb rule but a rule just the same. I can not eat candy at work in 2014 - period.

There is a difference in the brain even on how rules and laws are processed. Most of us are inclined not to break laws (except speeding - that one is allowed) and rules.

So don't rely on will power - make a rule.

So today I bought a suit for a big interview I have coming up. The suit fits, but I know it would look much better with every pound I drop before the interview. The plan is to spend at least as much time exercising as I do studying for the interview. In a few weeks I should be smarter and thinner. emoticon

HI! Sorry I was gone for a couple of days. My daughter, son in law and grandson were here and I had not seen them in quite a while. The past two days I have been having a hard time signing on to Spark people.

Odd how easy it seems when we are in the groove and so impossible when we are not.

Reduce the breadth of the effort until you find consistent success.

Maybe start with 10 minutes a day exercise - everyday or maybe 8 glasses of water.

If that fails - go smaller - maybe 1 glass water before dinner.

I am glad to report I consumed no green beer - in fact no beer at all yesterday.

I gaining weight this week. Salt or was it that Wendy's double Saturday...

I got a few days before Friday weigh in and the salt weight will go away.

My tracker is back to 0.0 pounds lost. But, I am thrilled to see that I did gain nearly as much weight as I thought I had since the beginning of the year. Sadly though I am bigger than I have ever been. But not for long!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to try to catch up with the rest of the team. Who has lost the most in 2014 and how much did they lose?

Hi! I am sorry I have been absent for so long. It has been a long rode to recovery from a simple gall bladder surgery. When I couldn't exercise, I think I got depressed and let everything else go too.

Maybe all of the challenges are too much for you or anyone else to keep up with, but can we at least keep the team alive with a discussion forum and maybe a couple of other threads. Perhaps we can have one for eating healthy and one for exercising.

Please don't give up completely this has been my favorite Spark team ever.

I've been struggling. For the past two weeks. Most days I start tracking but stop by the end of the day. Today I didn't have time to pack lunch and mad unhealthy choices and ate too much.

Scale is not happy with me lately... back up a couple pounds :(

Had a few days without working out but back to it again. On Valentine's day we went dancing and it was awesome!!! Hoping to go again soon but finding a babysitter can be tricky.

Gotta get my butt back in gear!

Hi all, glad to see you are doing well! I've been doing pretty good on the exercise & eating. Sorry I haven't been around much but I had a lot of dentist stuff last month (including getting my wisdom teeth out) and just had my laptop crash. Using a loaner until they can see if there's any hope. Hope everyone had a happy Valentines Day!

Our family favorite are Kashi Go-Lean Chocolate Almond bars. SOO good and filling. Little higher on the calories (170) but they're a good amount of protein, a decent portion, and I'd rather eat them than having candy. I used to just get them for myself, but then my husband & son started eating them too. My supermarket stopped carrying them a couple of months ago so now I buy several boxes at a time from the Kashi website. I also like a pilaf product Kashi makes (7 whole grain) that I can't seem to find at the local stores anymore, so I order that too.

I tried Fiber One 90 calorie brownies and I had digestive issues. Good thing I don't smoke digestive issues.

Monday is looking like a good weigh in. Down 5 pounds from Monday (only 3 pounds from last Friday - seem to retain water over the weekend).

I have a problem with the bars - make me even more hungry .. I do better with a apple with natural peanut butter without added sugar. Almonds or a boiled egg helps me the most.

I've had the regular ones and like the peanut butter and the oats and caramel. I also like the Chewy Dips. I think they are by Quaker. They are a substitute for candy bars for me.

The fiber one protien has the chocolate coating which I like.

The regular ones are sweet - the oats and caramel taste like sweet oatmeal scotchies (those cookies).

I get the fiber one bars cheap at our local food outlet. $1 for six bars or better in price.

They have replaced candy for me. Half the calories and I get my daily fiber in!

I really like the chocolate coated ones (protien bars) - I could eat the whole box!

I ate more calories last week than previous weeks but still within range and I lost a pound.

16 so far, about 160 to go.
