Good job busting that plateau SWEETMAGNOLIA2!!! emoticon

Did you change things up to do it? As Jessica advised - to break a plateau
, it helps to change things - this comp helped me to up my exercise and it busted the plateau I was on.

I am more motivated since joining this team. Just wanted to share with you that I finally broke a plateau that I've struggled with since last May! I hit the 130's this morning and I haven't been there in about a decade!

Thanks for the trophy, Paul!!! This comp really helped motivate me to increase my exercise, commit to a program, and (finally!!!) break the plateau I'd hit. However, I'm debating whether to participate in the Oct. comp. Susie is doing the St. Louis L2W - Good luck Susie!!! You go girl!!! - and CR is otherwise occupato so....I'm thinking maybe I'll try it alone? Well...I have my beginning weight and I guess I'll figure it out this week. (Thinking....It is kinda fun to be involved in something and it does motivate.... : )

October is ours!!! Half Tonners are back in form with all three of us seeing downward movement in the scales. Healthy meals and exercise will be out strategy as we lose to victory. Our names will be on next month's trophy! WooHoo!!!

Thanks, Paul! Good luck with your Oct. competition. I'm bowing out this month since I'm doing a 12-week weight lost contest in St. Louis (not virtual) thru a local hospital. Thanks for the motivation in September. I had a good month! Best to you!

Ronnie...you've got to switch things up! It breaks my plateaus every time (eventually). Try a new exercise, up your veggie intake, switch to eating ONLY 100% whole wheat bread, try for a week of no processed food (but forgive yourself if you eat a little...I couldn't go completely clean), even a week of eating a little more has worked...these are all things I've done to shake up my loss, maybe they could work for you too??

Still doing what I should be doing and still going nowhere. This is my first plateau since I've started and it's been going on for over a month now. It's getting really annoying!!!!

October ideas

Unless I get a lot of negative feedback this is what I plan.

A monthly competition like September with weekly reporting (not strictly enforced).
Teams of 2 - 4 members.
A special team anyone can join who do not have a team or are late to the game.

Challenge - 5 pound loss for bronze, 8 for silver and 10 pounds for the gold trophy (individual challenge). I'd do fitness minutes but I'd need to set it at 10,000 to challenge Bill!

I get a sign up for teams soon.

As for teams with missing members - just report like they never existed (adjust starting weight and report ending weight of remaining member(s).

Hope everyone is losing weight this month!
Paul

Hi everyone!
Wow - a week in Vegas is tough! Wow - I am still exhausted. Flew back to PA via overnight on Thursday - drove 2 hours to get home, pack camper, kids and went to Uprise festival - a christian music festival. They had a rough start but straighten out most of the issues by Saturday. Got home mid-day Sunday, unpacked, wife did laundry while I mowed the lawn (I DO help her out!). Grass was really high so I had to rake when done.

Work was okay today - very busy but productive.

Falling asleep watching MNF.

Wow - this is long - think I'll use it as my blog!

Way to go, Terri! I got rid of my treadmill but I'm thinking about getting a stationary bike. I can read and exercise at the same time.

Had another decent day today. Hope everyone else has, too.

Keep up the good fight and GO DRAG'N BOOTY!!!!

For the first time in what seems like forever, I've had an excellent day on the food front. It made me feel so much better about things. Also, I was able to breathe through my nose all night long without having used my nasal spray. Didn't cough all night and slept well. But I think that was due to the painkiller I took for my back. Gotta love that Vicodin!

hi Paul.. wasn't sure where you wanted us to post our weekly update so I posted it under the topic September Competition Weigh In - Good Luck Teams. If you don't want it there, please let me know where I should add it..

Found out why my knee hurts so much lately.. I talked to my physio terrorist and he checked me out (man that guy has great hands!) and told me I have Patello Femoral Syndrome. I'm not sure what that is.. I'll have to google it later.. but he did give me exercises to do and it doesn't stop me from walking/running/dragon boating so I'm good!! WOOT!! It does put a damper on kayaking but since it's the end of the season it shouldn't affect it much!

Struggling somewhat on the food front. Since I've been sick, all I want to do is eat. Didn't gain any weight this past week, but didn't lose anything either. Can't wait to start feeling 100% again.

Jessica: You're going to have to learn to swim or fly before you catch me! The advantage of living on an (albeit large) island in the South Pacific!

Like you, I'm turning out to be a slow loser. Can't understand how I can eat so few calories(The recommended 12-1500), exercise so much (Anything more than trips from the couch to the fridge is major isn't it?) and still only lose half a pound a week (on the good weeks). BUT a loss is a loss so I'm taking it. Doing it for the team is making me more disciplined in my eating and pushing me harder in my exercise so it's all good.

Have a terrific day!

Joyce ~ Believe it or not it was bursitis/tendonitis in my SHOULDER that stopped me from completing my 5K training! Both the doc and PT told me to stop all jarring aerobic exercise! I was so disappointed and frustrated with that ~ so it was no more jogging, water aerobics or Zumba for 5 weeks! Talk about halting someone's momentum! Needless to say, I was thrilled when I got the "go ahead" to start up again a few weeks ago. I started back into it with water aerobics one week, then added jogging this week. I feel so much better when I get more aerobic exercise!

I'm planning on repeating the second week again. I don't think there's any way that I can do the 3rd week of training. My plan is to do the 5K walk/jog by the end of October for the trick or treat 5K SP challenge. We'll see!?????
Jeanette: let us know how you go with your training programme. Have you done running before?
Paul: I think having another go at it would be a great idea. Always think it's good to push yourself JUST A LITTLE outside your comfort zone.
Good exercising everyone!

Paul, I'm the opposite. I can barely do 5 minutes on the elliptical but can go on the treadmill for hours.

Good job Susie! What kind of injury did you have? I had an injury back in Nov. and I just got my physio terrorist's permission last month to start my 5K training as long as it's on a treadmill.

This weekend, I did nothing... I vegged and watched movies.

I'm starting a 5K training program at my gym on Wed. I had to drop out in July due to an injury but got cleared to go for it again. I wondered how I'd do starting over so I went for a "practice" jog/walk on Sunday. I surprised myself when I could actually run for 4 min. 30 sec. before walking!!! That's huge for me. So repeated the jog 4, walk 2 for two more reps. My breathing always stops me and it was sooooo much easier to breath in 70 degree temps than the hot, humid summer months of June and July! Excited!

Just starting the run/ walk myself this week. Day 1 tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. Went a little over my calorie budget today for the first time this month. I am very grateful for the good sleep I'm getting since joining this team. It's keeping me accountable.

Gourmetloser - Hi!!! I tried one of the running programs and had to quit. I can not run great distances or times like over a minute. I can do stairmaster / elliptical and do 1000 calorie workouts so I was surprised that running is so hard.

I still run / walk but still have not really gone longer than a minute or two running before slowing down. I am thinking about giving it another serious go because I'd like to be able to run 3K.

Had a great BBQ B'day celebration yesterday. This means that the nutritional side suffered bit. Beers, greasy hamburgers/hotdogs plus all the fixings. Gonna have to cycle hard this week to take it off. "War is hell and we are in the trenches".

Jessica, you amaze me. You are such a bundle of energy. emoticon

I did well with eating and exercising today, apart form just about killing myself on the treadmill. I'm doing the 5K walk/jog training - in week two so 3 minutes walk and 90 secs running x6. I can't believe how unfit I am, how short of breath I got. I felt like an asthmatic (I'm not an asthmatic) wheezing away gasping for air, coughing and spluttering and that was only walking (Joking. It was the running. There's a reason I've never been a runner.) emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Going to Orlando with mom and kids tomorrow to see my little bro...she's already thinking about where we're eating lunch, I'm trying to figure out what kind of cardio I can get in when I take the kids over to Jay Blanchard park :) Priorities in line, you bet!

I had plans with my mom & a friend for Saturday. My mom called & cancelled which was fine. My friend, on the other hand, left me hanging. No call, didn't answer her phone, did not respond to messages I left. She does this to me all the time. I'm just about done with this.

Sorry for the rant. But I wasted my entire Saturday trying to connect with her. I'm done b*tching now!

Wow! And I got stuck spending the day with mom and dad.....

Actually, being able to still visit mom and dad is a blessing. Mom so kind - she had dad grill chicken for Deborah and Me plus my favorite - sausage (gee thanks) and traditional hamburgers and hotdogs.

Still warm here but it is going to turn cold and wet tomorrow or Tuesday. Fall is coming.

I was thrilled that the bbq I went to served brats and grilled shrimp! I only ate the shrimp and it was delicious ~ grilled in a lime margarita marinade. Yum! I had a spoonful of pork and beans, some of each of 2 vegetable salads, some fruit salad, and a bite of a brownie. I drank A LOT of ice tea. We played hillbilly golf and laughed a lot ~ that had to burn a few calories, right! It was a good day!

Who is the fool who started a competition like this on Labor Day weekend? Oh wait - it was me. Yikes - need to do some extra workouts to make up for the corn on the cob, grilled sausage ancake / ice cream. Yikes - I did keep things reasonable but still went way over calories for the day.

Need to run off some calories tomorrow!

I hear ya, My kids get cheese sticks (2 for $20 deal is pretty darn good). Last time I only had 3!!! That was a success.

Over my calories today - life got in the way.

Did really well today at breakfast & lunch. Went to Applebee's for dinner. Had the 7 oz sirloin with baked potato (plain) & broccoli. But I dabbled in the boys' appetizers of the honey bbq boneless wings which ended up taking me over my calories. Will do better tomorrow, dern it!

I am psyched too. This worked for me in the beginning of the year when our fitness center did and it is working now. I am already thinking how I can eat better when I am in Vegas for a week.

I'm psyched about this Lose 2 Win Team. It's just what I need. Thanks for starting it!

My goals for September are (except for the week I'll be on vacation and may not have access to a computer or gym every day-I'll still walk A LOT that week): track food and water intake daily, do strength training 3X a week, start the C25K program again, use the equipment in the cardio room at the gym as my warm up to ST for 30 min. 3X a week, water aerobics 2X a week.

Let's lose to win!

I know almost everyone here is active on another team or so and that is great.

I hang out mostly at the 300 team myself.

This forum is for anyone who wants to post something / anything of interest to the team or maybe something you want to share or ask.

I am so on track and motivated. What a difference a few days make. This time last week I was eating too much.

I will send an E-mail out to the team tomorrow. Thanks for helping me in journey to 200 pounds.
