Lately alot of recipes are showing up on facebook. I have been trying them. Some of them are no way healthy - others are! But they all seem to make too much for just me and my husband! As my daughter usually eats with grandma!

Any suggestions to lower my sodium intake. It doesn't seem to matter what I do - I am going over in Sodium EVERYDAY!! It surprises me how much sodium is in everything. HELP!

Not even close! I don't normally cook - we are used to going out to eat! So this is all pretty new to me - all those years of watching food network are really paying off though! I knew there was a reason I watched it!

Tonight, we had Herb Crusted Salmon Fillets from Spark Recipes. It was good but it needed a little more flavor too! Marc had to put some soy sauce and a little more lemon on it.

We also had sweet potatoes. It was a good meal. Also, some corn with peppers.

We are going to have some kiwi fruit later for snack!

It was good. It needed something though - Marc said more of a tomato twang - going to add some tomato paste next time. Maybe some different or more veggies and spices.

sounds yummy Julie! how was it ?

heres a recipe i had in my inbox today :

Mini Meatballs
Mini meatballs that pack a flavor punch. Children love them because they are kid-sized.
Ingredients:

1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion, finely minced
1/3 cup minced green pepper
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tsp. basil
2 tsp. oregano
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2/3 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
Directions:

Put the first set of ingredients in a mixing bowl and make a well in the center. Don't mix them up yet, they will be more tender if you keep the mixing to a minimum. Put the second set of ingredients in the well and let the liquids soak into the bread crumbs.

Now mix it all up with a spoon, using your hands only at the end, to make sure it is mixed thoroughly.

Using a tablespoon at a time, form into balls. Handle as briefly as possible. I use a meatball maker that makes 6 at a time, very handly.

On medium high heat brown on all sides. Reduce heat and cook through, or finish cooking in a sauce, soup, or stew.

If it is to be, it is up to me.

Food for the children or food for us? I have a lot of picky eaters in my class right now. We just changed our menus to be a little more healthy - lots of new items to try. Some of them are enjoying trying the new foods and some of them just refuse to try anything new!

My kids like to have "Ants on a Brick" for snack
Similar to ants on a log (celery, peanut butter and raisins) but with graham crackers instead of celery. I give them the ingredients separately on the plate, hand them a plastic knife and let them have fun spreading and sprinkling before they eat.

Here's an awesome snack... Cut up banana's an put them on a plate. Drizzle them with chocolate sauce and you have what the kids call "candy" but you know is semi-healthy. :P

depends on how long I have them for.. sometimes its only for a bit in the am. But if it's over lunch than yes. I would love to start doing creative crafts but it's difficult with a baby on your hip. :)

:O We used to do that as kids! We loved it! I remember making those at a birthday party as a kid. Another time we made a GIANT cookie. (Parents did the oven and stuff) but it was so much fun. We got a huge pizza pan and filled it with cookie dough then decorated the cookie with chocolate chips and other candies. It was a ton of fun and really yummy!

Last time I babysat I fed the kid, "Cars" Mac & Cheese, with Hotdogs or "Octopus" as we called them. If you cut the end of a hotdog twice like a cross then boil them they curl up making them look like squid, or octopus. The kids love them!
