I don't mind it, but I do mix it with silk. The one time I mixed it with water was a little to gross for me! I also only get the vanilla, not that the chocolate would be bad, just a vanilla kid.

My green drink has Spirulina and a scoop of Perfect Food RAW (RAW organic super food). I won the RAW at a raffle at Earthfare a week ago and prob wont buy it again since it is 30$ for 1 month supply. But i could drink it after my workout instead of with my morning snack.

I think I struggle because I wake up at 4am, eat at 5, midmorn snack at 8:15, Lunch 11:30, snack 2:30 dinner at 5:30 bed at 8:30. I cant break the habit of waking so early, and I usually sneak my workout in at 10 am after dropping my oldest off at school.

Hey Kristen. How do you like that powder? BF and I are thinking of giving it a try for when we don't want to go to Costco.

I use the Body Fortress weigh protein powder from walmart. 15 bucks and I have had it for almost three weeks now and drink it right after every workout. Might last me another week, not to sure.

Costco and Sams club both have protein powder probably as cheap per serving as you can get- which will last the entire rest of the program for you. In fact, the one I bought used a HUGE scoop and when I figured it out with a smaller scoop- it still had the same protein as the first powder I had, so I extended its 'servings' count even further by using a smaller scooper.
You can also make protein shakes with egg whites (though I think this ends up being far more expensive that protein powder).
Drinking it allows your body to get the fuel and protein faster and you really do need the fuel after your workout. I think you'd want to take the route of making it a yummy smoothie so you feel full and like you ate something real and not just drank a bunch of powder.

Whats in your green super food drink? I would think at minimum it would be a good time to drink that instead of with another meal.

I have been putting off investing in the protein shakes for 2 reasons:

1. they are expensive and hubby just took a pay cut, so its not an expense i can easily justify right now
2. I dont need the extra calories, I am already eating right at the top of my calorie range most days. Plus, i like to chew my food not drink it and I worry i would have a hard time feeling full enough replacing one of my snacks. Glad the feeling full thing doesnt seem to be a concern after reading your posts.

I have had to tweak the diet a bit to get over some hurdles. Would have those moments. Although I am pretty much munching all day, I spread all my food out through the day. Moved certain proteins to certain times of the day, depending on how I am feeling. One thing I notice in the afternoon is that if I don't get enough protein in the veggies make me hungrier. I agree with Kristen and LFF about the protein drink. That helped a ton with the crash and burn, as well as hunger. I don't necessarily need to have a complete serving.

I have one after my workout, but also sometimes have a hit before my workout, depending on when I ate. On heavy WO days I would get nauseaus if I didn't and sometimes a bit light headed. Don't know how I would do it without protein shakes.

I usually count them as my snack because I'm home and I can make them more than just powder and water most days and they end up being very filling at 250-375 calories. I like peanut butter banana , peach banana, pina colada, strawberry banana, chocolate peanut butter, and occasionally avocado (over 400 cals).
besides, when you get to the 1 1/2 - 2 hour workouts (if you do cardio right after WT), its time to eat again when you finish. I just combine meal and protein.

now see i drink my protein after a workout with a banana and don't count it as a snack since it usually falls between breakfast and my first snack. If I am hungry enough to eat at my normal snack time I do, but if I can hold off I will. My calories never hit my expected number for the day anyway.

Are you not drinking a protein shake right after your workout??

Highly recommend this. I generally schedule mine close enough that its one of my 'small meal' options. For instance, if I had eaten at 8:30 and then completed workout at 10:30, I would make protein smoothie and then schedule my next meal (lunch) for 12:30-1:30.

In fact, if I get creative, my protein smoothies are often the highest calorie/most filling meal of the day. When I don't time it right to count it as a meal(yesterday, as example, I finished workout 30 minutes before I was supposed to meet someone for lunch!), I just do the protein powder plus water for about 100calorie drink.

I think this helps A LOT to have this right after workout. No crash, no starving.

I finished my workout at 10:30 and by 11 I was ravenous!!! I had eaten my snack at 8:30 so it was only a few minutes before I was scheduled to have lunch. I could not get enough food in my mouth, I was so hungry. I had my salad, a banana, and added more veges to compensate for my insatiableness. Then about 12:30 I crashed! I literally had to lay down. It was exactly like a sugar crash, but the only sugar I ate was the banana, which are supposed to be good after a workout. Any insight, help would be appreciated! feel free to look at my nutrition page! I need some help with the food thing i think.
