Hi Lauren

I think you do what helps YOU get through the sprints. If it means you break it up into two, then do that. You can work up to doing a longer sprint session. They are tough and I was quite frankly terrified by them when I first did them. I wasn't a runner and am not a cardio chick to top it off. Funny thing is that now I love them. Well LOVE might be used a bit freely, but they are a part of my workouts. I enjoy the bursts over doing one long run, which is boring to me. I should state that my sprints are probably more like a jog to a true runner:) LOL The point is to get that heart rate up. That varies from day to day, depending on my energy level.
Do what you can do!

Yay on hitting Phase 3!!!

Hey Lauren...
I was the same way the sprints- especially the first time I did the program. Sometimes I have to negotiate with myself... I would suggest doing the Sprints first (my little voice says "do at least 15 minutes and if it feels bad you can walk/jog the rest") then you'd be surprised that you can keep going ("how about five more minutes", oh, "why not just do the remaining 10 minutes").
Sometimes I'd increase the rest time to 45 seconds for 30 seconds of sprint, etc. Every little bit MORE you can do helps, and seriously-- I was surprised how doable they became.

Thanks guys! I actually ordered the Jamie Eason supplement package off of bodybuilding.com. It was only like $60 and came with protein powder, BCAA, a multi-vitamin, and an amino acid pill. Just started taking it a few days ago, but glad I am incorporating it.

ANOTHER QUESTION - doing 30 mins straight of sprints seems daunting to me. I have been doing 15 mins in the beginning of my workout then finishing with 15 minutes of sprints. DO you think that makes a difference?

I second what LFF said. I noticed a difference with supplements and continue to use them. I didn't start out in Phase 1 taking them, but quickly started. The thing I can't take is the fish oil because of allergies. I am now taking chia seeds and enjoy them. LFF and I use the same protein powder. Some of the powders with their fancy packaging cost a lot. I check out their sites and do a side by side comparisons. I am too cheap to buy that pricey stuff and don't think it is necessary. Do you belong to Costco? That is where I buy my protein powder and several other things. The BCAAs I buy at several places online, depending on what has the best deal. I will look around for the previous post where we discussed supplements.

Hi Lauren--
I hope you are at least taking a multivitamin and having a protein shake after your workouts. If not, I'd highly recommend those immediately.
I added flaxseed every day to balance out the high protein in digestion and this round I added BCAAs even though my protein powder has some-- and I am sooo happy I did. I am so much less sore this time around then I was last time and I attribute it to the added BCAAs.
My protein powder is CytoSport... it just tastes better and seems more complete than the ones I can find at a regular drug store/grocery store. I'm not sure brands matter as much as ingredients.

Back to Phase 3 during Round 3...
I *still* hate plyo. and it still makes Walking Lunges seem like a cake walk. Its hysterical to me that the lunges and calf raises seem more like active 'rest' than the Active rest plyos. I am sucking air during the lunges-long jump combos.
But still get that great feeling for finishing-- actually the first time in a long while that I've feel like I really accomplished something special.

This round I have adjusted my food tracker to match the nutrition levels suggested in LiveFit. quite a bit different than what Spark wants- particularly the fat levels (lower) and protein (way higher). Went over my "new" Fat range (but not my cals) considerably today, because I ate leftover Thai panang chicken (coconut milk base). In my old spark range, I would have been just fine. I'll adjust.
I have a week before carb cycling begins and I'm going to try it out this time.

I've been using protein powder with BCAA's in it, but no additional supplements. Just couldn't afford to buy the extra stuff right now. DH is going out of town to work a high paying job in a month or two, so I might be able to get some extras then. I'm hoping so!

I have just over 2 weeks left on this round of LiveFit, and am planning on starting again in Phase 2 when I get done.

Hey Becki, glad you are enjoying the plyo! It wasnt my thing. Just wait until you do circuits of 30 of all exercises in a couple weeks!
I think its safe to say your legs are getting enough workout already!! Congrats on the marathons! Moving workouts around your training schedule shouldnt be too much of a problem.
Just curious, are you taking BCAA supplements to try to retain as much muscle as you can?

Hi Becki. WTG on day 64!!! Those high reps are killer. I am with you on plyo, love it but I kind of still look foolish doing 'em. I try to imagine I look cooler than I actually do while doing it:)

You amaze me with the marathon training and LiveFit. You rock!!!

This morning was day 64! Last week, I didn't get to do this particular workout (I ran a marathon that day)... so this was the first time for me. What a workout! The plyo was awesome, but I was feeling it! And Really? 30 reps for 3 sets of smith machine squats?? 30?!?!
I finished the entire workout, and it took me over an hour.

I had planned to try a run today too, but I have a feeling my legs are gonna be LEAD by this afternoon.

The hardest part of this whole thing for me is that it's the height of my marathon season... so I'm having to miss a workout here and there for runs, but I'm ok with it for the most part!

I'm running Hatfield-McCoy this weekend, so this will be my only Legs workout this week. Shifting some workouts around to accomodate.

Exactly LFF. Although I have started to fixate on the results over the last weeks (mind games) I am really the most impressed with all the other changes in my life. Dare I say, proud (still sounds strange). That part is overwhelming me and I refuse to let a number change those rewards. The ones I was really after! :):):)

LOL...pylometrics are tough. Did them with a trainer before but I looked silly. Could get some spring with the one ankle, but the metal one allows for maybe a three inches off the ground. The human pogo stick I'm not.

So proud of you. Your dedication is inspiring. Prompted my butt to get up and just do it more than once! You are hitting that goal!!!

Phase 3 is crazy. I said a lot of swear words and "are you &@$%#ing kidding me?" during the first workout. I was gasping for air right after the first superset. I do *not* look like Jamie Eason when I jump. I hate plyometrics. Walking Lunges seem like a cake walk comparitively.

But I got through the workout, so I guess she isnt crazy. Woohoo!

Well tomorrow I start Phase 3. I am feeling nervous and somewhat unprepared (havent had time to print sheets, prep food, or anything). Was happy for the "rest" today ( as I sit here toiling away at my desk). Looking forward to the switch up but know it will be challenging. Will have more time this weekend so catch y'all up then!

Yes, i definitely feel stronger. I don't know where you are traveling to, but i always try to walk as much as possible. If I'm staying in a hotel, i try to use the gym (if they have one), I also will get up early, when no one else is int hallway, and walk up and down multiple times (while saying some prayers and counting steps with my pedometer). When I visit family and I an in a an apartment with 4 other people, i squeeze in my workouts. i usually wake up before my father, brother and cousins, so i will do squats in the bathroom, wall pushups and take long walks in the nearby parks

I am already wondering what I'm going to do after 12 weeks... I need to think of some things that can be done without a gym at all as I will be travelling frequently this summer. but I guess that's a question for another forum...
Good job finishing the fitness program Andromeda... for me weight loss is generally all about the food, so I understand-- but at least you are more fit and stronger, I bet. Keep at it!

I'm technically done with the program but I really liked the last week of exercises, especially the leg workout, so I plan on repeating it for the rest of lent. I willl be doing the leg workout 3 times a week, alternating with the arm workouts (I plan on combining 2 days in one).

I do feel stronger and I lost a few pounds but not much. As with the Supreme 90 program, I think --correction, i know my problem is the diet. I didn't follow the diet plan for either program , which is most likely the reason I did not see more weight loss.

For lent, however, I have given up bread in all it's glorious forms and I have other food restrictions, so i may actually see a little more weight loss.

FINALLY! I am up to phase 3. Day 57 workout was a killer. Unfortunately, I combined it with another workout and could only manage 2 sets of each exercise. But i like the incorporation of cardio intervals in this!

Injured my side and can't do anything with my core :( After two months of weight lifting, it was sooo hard to stop and do nothing - this 21 week trainer is addicting. MISSYSTAR1980, you are pumping me up to start January! :)

Just started phase 3 yesterday and loved it! This week is crazy so I am only going to get to the gym three times, but I have come to terms with it. I noticed that of the 6 days, they basically each double up for only 3 sets of muscles groups, arms and back, chest and shoulders, and legs. I will do as much of each doubled up group as possible each of the three days. Last night Joanna and I did the first arm and back day, then did a few sets from the second arm and back day before we ran out of time and had to get to the 30 minutes of sprints. We'll probably tackle Legs on Friday and as much shoulders and chest as possible on Saturday. Then next week we will try to get in more than 3 days. I loved the sprints! The active rests were also challenging. I can't wait to be done with the program!

Akafit I was the exact same way. I really pushed through the work out and then started the sprints and wow! I was dizzy and felt like puking only made 20min of it. Well last night I did day 3 phase 3 and I am proud to say I made it the whole way through the sprints. No dizziness or feeling of puking. I figured my body just wasn't to the heart rate spikes. Hopefully it will be easier for you to.

I have gone to the gym daily each time considering doing the next days (Phase 3) workout: legs. But find that I just haven't felt right and I leave after doing Yoga, other stretches, decide against ST, confirm that decision by getting in at least some cardio. Yesterday, I even cut the cardio in half.

I'm just not feeling right and not sure the reason. I am listening to my body and it is saying to hold up on the intensity .After yesteday's yoga I'm feeling better than I have the past four or five days. I am still sore but this doesn't really feel the "in a good way sore". Could be due to deep tissue massage last Friday or over working...since starting JE's Livefit challenge I was spending a minimum of three hours, 5 days a week at the gym. (Neither of those should make me sore after taking a break this long. Makes no sense.) The ST takes me two hours. I do the actual lifting motions very slowly and find I get rest time by just setting up the next machine and the time spent walking between them. (I am doing two exercises at a time, alternating; the alternation time is my rest period.)

I see my personal trainer tomorrow and hope to get my mind an body back in sync. I was "gung ho " about getting through week 12. But have lost almost five days (when you count rest days that is really a week's time lost). The plan is to pick up again Friday.

So, yesterday was my first day of phase 3. Can you say whipped and light headed. I had to take a few seconds a couple of times because I was sure I was getting sucked into the darkness. Man, that was out of control crazy. My question is this..I am supposed to do this workout and THEN do 30 minutes of cardio? Is she crazy? I burned, according to my Garmin, over 900 calories with that workout.

Anyone else care to share their experiences with Phase #3?
