My "best friend" in the kitchen is my hand-held blender, especially in winter when I cook a lot of soup.

I am loving my food processor right now, great for shredding and pureeing veggies that are added to things!

Hi Missy!!

The blog is up with pictures of my kitchen gadgets as well as the name of the brands. I hope it helps you out.
Don't hesitate to ask me if you need any more info - I'll be happy to provide it: I'm a bit of a kitchen/cooking geek emoticon

Missy,

I'll take some photos of my kitchen stuff and will post them in a blog for you tomorrow - I can give you the brands too, although I do live in the UK so I'm not sure whether you'd find the same, but the photos might help you find something similar emoticon

wow thanks for all the info! What brands do you have for your kitchen scale, handheld blender, juicer/smoothie maker, kitchen robot? What is the difference between the last three things?

Hi MissyStar,

The first things I'd purchase are a kitchen scale, some measuring cups and measuring spoons.
You'll also need plastic containers in different sizes - it helps sort out your food in the correct serving size.
You'll also need a good non-stick frying pan as well as a saucepan. This way you'll only need to use 1 or 2 sprays from a non-stick spray.
It may seem silly to say it, but a good kitchen knife and chopping board are essential to deal with all those freggies! emoticon

As far as gadgets go, I have a hand-held blender (love it!), juicer/smoothie maker, steamer, George Foreman grill and a kitchen robot that mixes, grates and chops.

I have quite a few herbs and spices I use on a regular basis: thyme, oregano, Herbes de Provence, cumin, chili powder, cinnamon, ginger to name but a few.
I also always have garlic and use it a lot in my cooking. Lemon are also good to have to season your food or use a squeeze to flavour water.

I hope this helps! emoticon

ps: I also adore my silicone bakeware!

Attention all Clean Eating Experts/Cooking Superstars,

I am neither of these things, and I could use a lot of help before I get started on Sept. 11th. If you were to set up a basic clean eating kitchen including appliances, utensils, cookware, baking wear and any basic food prep items for the mainstays of clean eating like cooking sprays/oils, spices, sweetners, etc, What would you buy?

At the moment I have access to a microwave, toaster oven, regular stove/oven, and a basic blender. I have very little experience cooking, but I intend to cook a lot more with this new lifestyle. One thing I am especially concerned about is getting a good blender type thingy. I see people chop up oats for certain recipes and I doubt my regular blender would have any success with that. Any recommendations?
