I'd settle for 51degrees!!!!
We ended up getting two feet of snow dumped on us over Friday & Saturday. This just a few weeks after Blizzard Nemo dumped 31.5 inches!!!!! Gah! I am SO ready for spring!!!!
I found a new eating plan that's working really well for me....YAY!
So, still in it for the long haul!

Knit1purl2lose3, we were supposed to get 6 to 12 inches from the recent snow storm, but we ended up getting mostly rain. My idea of a nice day may not be yours....................it's going to be 51 today. I love when the weather is in the 50's. Hope your snow melts away soon.

I'm new to the group. Joined the other week but haven't posted much.
I'm discouraged right now, unsure what eating plan to follow. I tried one that I had hoped would work for me, but it didn't. So now I need to try something a bit different.

Angel, that is great news! I am so proud of you, great job! I am struggling, but not giving up. I am glad to be on the other side of Valentine's Day though. I'm such a sugar-head, I seem to get riveted even by it's presence and availability.

I had a fantastic doctors appointment today. At my last visit my doc wanted me to lose 10 lbs more pounds by today, but I lost 18 pounds. My nurse and doc cheered me on...........it was awesome. I've been doing so well with my diet and exercise that my doc said if I keep up the hard work I'll be able to reduce my diabetes meds (I take 1 pill twice a day). I go back in 3 months.

Well, I've been away from Spark for a long time, and guess what? Yup. I regained the 35 pounds I worked so hard to lose a year ago.
So, I am back and starting over. Guess that's better than not trying at all.

I set a plan in place on December 30 = have a daily checklist of things to do that will get me to the goal I have set out for January 31 - when I looked over this checklist for the last 5 days I am pleased with what I have accomplished. Not all goals were completed but changes are happening.
An example yesterday hubby took me out for lunch as I am still somewhat stressed and waiting for results of medical tests done on Friday. We went to favorite restaurant and they had a lunch special that I love - pulled pork - which comes on 3 small buns (I call them baby buns) with either fries, salad or soup - I have always ordered it with fries but without even thinking it through I asked for the pulled pork with a salad and a bottle of water . When I finished eating hubby smiled and asked 'did it taste like you thought it would' and my answer was 'better because I just realized that I had a salad rather than fries. Just that change alone is going to help me reach my goal.
I gave up pop and chocolate on Jan 1 2012 so am going to my 2nd year of being free of those 2 terrible items. January 1 2013 I have given up lemonade which I was drinking a lot of - today will be 6 days free of it - no withdrawals and not missing it. January 1 2013 decided I was going to get in 4 bottles of water daily - I have had 3 on the 1st of January and 2 on every day since - I realize this is not hitting my goal but I am pleased with this result as I would go days even weeks without drinking water. And I can now see that by the end of January I will be getting in my 4 bottles (which by the way is 8 glasses or 64 oz)
I have added 2 cups of veggs daily to my food plan - I don't like veggs and avoid them as best as I can - just looking over my days to see how I have done and I have met this goal each day
I decided to have 1 apple per day - and have met this goal the last 6 days
So you can see I am on the right track - I made a promise / vow that 2013 is going to be the year I would change some habits - so far I am on track - and I believe that as time goes on my weight will react to the changes and I will see a decline on the scale.
If you go to my bloggs you will see what I am dealing with re medically - what I am patiently waiting results for - if you are someone that prays after reading my blogg please pray as prayer is very important to me.

I need help getting back to my major workouts. I have been sick or injured, for the most part since the middle of September when I feel and hit my head on a concrete floor, followed by a bad cold that turned into pneumonia then both ears infected, then the return of a skin problem and then a pain (trigger pain) in my upper back.
I want my workout mojo back ... I love to feel the strength of being in full motion and able to feel good about the workouts I know I need to battle my depression and my anxiety and to continue to grow healthy!!!! I feel like everything has been put on a sideline, with half hearted workouts....
I want to feel the expercise spark again!!!!!!!

Went to see the doctor today and she said that I have to wear a sleeve on my right knee and if that don't better then in 4 weeks I get a shot. She also said to take vit D cause I get real tired. And the last time I was there to see the doctor I lost 10 pounds and that was a long time ago. Darlene

Greetings to all of you wonderful people - praying that all of you are hanging in doing the best you can to improve your health even with all the temptaiton around you due to this time of the year.
Have just completed 30 minutes of exercise *Walk It Out* and will do another 30 minutes this afternoon
The scale is starting to move which is nice as I would really like to see a nice number by December 31 - and with the exercise in plan for each day of this month and the small changes in my eating I can see that things will work out well.

Good morning. I love the holiday season. Tomorrow is the day we traditionally put up the christmas tree. We've been putting up the tree the Sunday after thanksgiving for 21 years. My neighborhood really gets into christmas. It's like I am living in a winter wonderland. I love it. Christmas is my favorite holiday.

Sorry That Sandra had to leave us but. Warm welcome to Marilyn , I am quite new to thus team too, al ages all types but we all have the same aims, we are in it for the long term, there are no quick fixes. I now like my healthy meals and life style. Yes we have holidays and events that throw us off track for a while but I always enjoy going back to my usual life style. No exercises today I slept very little last night so have no energy today, It happens I have to live with it,insomnia I mean I am careful what I eat , I ave had a lot if bloating and digestive problems , in a process of noting what I had ate or not ate its led me to think white bread is the culprit. I love it but its nit worth it if I suffer later. I do feel better for giving up white bread and the scale is showing a downward trend too? Ree

Thanks for the advice. I just need to do it. I know the benefits and I feel so much better when I do. I have no excuses for not exercising. Congrats on your weight loss. That is awesome!

This has been a great day. I am down 4 pounds and burned lots of calories. The best part is that I am wearing shirt today that I haven't been able to fit in a long time. Hope everyone had a great day.

Good for you! I'm glad you got in your workout. I've been very lazy lately with exercising. I've been doing decent with my eating, but need to exercise more.

Hi all! I am finished my morning workout. I did 2 high impact WATP miles and walked 3.65 miles this morning. I'm not sure what I am going to do this afternoon, but I am leaning towards another walk. It's only 45 degrees, so I'll burn a lot of calories trying to warm up my body. Hope you all are having a great day.

Congratulations Angelus on your 2.66 mile walk! that is a great.
Feeling much better today, actually went for a walk outside (very bundled up) but it felt good to be able to get rid of some of this nervous energy I have started developing. Soon, I will be able to be back in the water and I will be able to get a total workout again. Then start back with my strength training on these now very sad muscles back into the shape they were in before I got sick (almost a month ago). Life is getting better, I am am getting better, and I can't wait to 'BUST OUTTA HERE'.
Reading The Spark Book, while I am not able to do much exercise, and learning a lot ... highly recommended, no matter how long you've been on Sparks.

I am back from my morning walk. I got in 2.66 miles. I will finish the rest of my miles sometime after dinner. I will get in some high impact aerobics after lunch. I am thinking of doing WATP. It is one of my absolute favorites. I have all of her dvd's and enjoy doing all of them. I hope you all have a fantastic day.

Good morning all :-) I've had breakfast and taken my first 1 mile walk today. I only got 5 hours sleep, but I am full of energy. Haven't been on much this week because my daughter is on vacation and we have been spending most of it together. I love being with her. She's so much fun. Hope you all have a great day.

The stomach will shrink in its own good time. Strengthening your core muscles will help you look better. Gastric bypass is a high risk medical procedure that should be the option of last resort. It will leave you with flabby skin if you don't exercise in conjunction with it. Younger people have better luck with shrinking skin. Your best bet is to eat moderately at all times and not follow any fads or unusual programs. The key to healthy weight loss is consistency and and persistence. Over eating on one day will not derail your program. Good luck!

I am in it for the long haul, have been doing very well at sticking to my new healthy habits. I am wondering if anyone knows how long does it take for a stomach to shrink? Does it shrink or is this why people have gastric bypass? Does anyone recommend a liquid diet a week before turkey day to assist with over stuffing? Any tips and tricks for upcoming holidays are appreciated!
