Not totally sure, but I think you can read any forum without having an account, but you can't post unless you belong to the group, which means you need a Sparkpeople account. The exception may be the main message boards.
You can set your sparkpage to private and /or limit what people can see through your profile page.

Can you help me understand the privacy on these forums? The disclaimer when starting your sparkpage said that essentially that anything is available to anyone with internet access - does this mean it is available to anyone who has signed up to sparkpeople, or is it actually searchable by anyone online?
