Really good suggestions. I agree...try to keep busy and drink liquids when you desire food. Lots of bathroom trips but you won't be eating when you are not hungry. I'm thinking about you and your family. emoticon

Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions. I think it even helped just admitting I was doing the eating thing.

So sorry to hear that the news is not good. I hope you have family around that you can share this life experience with. I'm sure that you have a lot on your mind, but in the odd moment give a thought to what kind of comfort foods you long for. Are they sweet, sour, salty, savory flavors? If you can identify the particular flavors you seek, you might be able to substitute something in the same category that won't cause as much damage. Also, I'm one to respond to textures not only in food but in clothes. If snuggly, softy jumpers are your thing, wear it as much as you want, or some other favorite article of clothing that has an appealing texture, velvet, velveteen, leather, whatever. Also having something in your hands most of the time keeps them off the food. Worry beads, prayer beads, fiddle with bracelets. I've even carried a pen around at times just to run my fingers up and down it while I talk or listen. (I know, it's kinda weird) Anyway, the point is to engage your other senses: sight, smell, feel, sound in ways that are comforting to you right now.. There are also the old standbys, gum chewing and hot baths. Most of all, sharing the emotions with familly during this time will hopefully support you, too. My thoughts are with you.

I am eating for Britain since we had some bad news on the health of my father.
What do you do/ have you done to stop the need to comfort eat in times of stress.
