90 days.... seems like so much longer. Oh, wait.. that's because I started this journey before I found Spark People.
Ok. I reached my "goal" weight in mid November. Survived two Thanksgiving dinners (one at the nursing home with mom and the other on the following Saturday with my son). No major setbacks there, although the sweet potato souffle my son and I shared was extremely tasty and tempting.
The biggest hurdle right now is the change of seasons. I've spent the past 6 months using outdoor walking as a primary source of activity - like 5-10 miles daily. The past week was not even close to that and the forecast for this week holds no promise either. The high temp for the next 5 days will be 31 sometime today and the low will be 11 (on Friday). Since we got rain before the little bit of snow we have, there is ice everywhere. Walking outside right now is treacherous at best. So I am seeking other options for activity that don't involve the potential for a slip & fall injury. Since I no longer drive, even getting to a gym or the mall (mall walking - not a preferred choice, but an option) require walking at least as far as the bus stop. Lots of indoor stuff to do at home, but it will get boring fast.
Something "new"... having trouble with that one. I am having trouble looking a pictures of myself without being overly critical. I keep asking my son to take a picture and then I over analyze it. But if I compare "new me" to "old me", it's a huge difference. I am pleased with what I see in a mirror for the most part, but still adjusting to an actual photo. We're working on it.
So by February... I would like to see myself still maintaining in my goal range and being comfortable with what I see in photos of myself. I am also spending the next couple of months cheering on a friend and a family member as they reach for their goals. Maybe by February, we will be "celebrating" our new selves together!
