Just checking in with the team and hoping that a large part of our class is well on their way to a new healthy lifestyle. I'm guessing that many of you have found interest-oriented teams to join and are happily interacting on them each day.

To answer this question... I'm doing fine today, and am trying to make the best of spending my day in the hospital. (My mother had knee replacement on Wednesday. At 82 years old, she is doing well, but it seems that everything takes a little longer as we age.)

Now an update on my situation in general...
I've really enjoyed participating as a maintenance member of one of the Biggest Loser Challenges (BLC) and have spent most of my spark minutes there as the chat threads are so very active and there are so many daily challenges that add fun to the day. We will be starting another BLC after Christmas/Winter Holidays. If anyone would like to join, please let me know and I'll try to remember to send you an invitation when the enrollment starts.

Let me know if I can offer support or encouragement!
Diane

Sounds like many of you are doing GREAT!

Even when we take steps backwards, it's never too late to make those forward steps once again.

I've had my share of ISP lately. Either totally down or V E R Y slow

Now to get back into the swing of things with my program and with catchin' up with my teams and friends here at SP

Hope all are well and stayin' or getting back on track

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Weighed this morning lost 2 for a total of 4 pounds in 3 weeks. wanted it to be more but I am in this for the long haul not just the pounds lost. Going to the Dr on Monday and wanted to be down more. emoticon

Doing great! Proud of myself for being able to stay on the ball and exercise at least 5 out of 7 days, if not more. I am also doing well at tracking the foods I eat and examining where the good calories come from and where the bad calories come from. I've never been much of a big junk food eater, but now I've really cut it out of my diet. I firmly believe that having a workout partner to get sweaty with is a mood booster and a confidence booster!
Great job to everyone for sticking with it and improving your lives!

Jen, I'm so thankful that your ordeal is over. What a horrific experience. I'm the mom of adult sons, but always had some anxiety when we went mountain biking, too, for the same reason. You've just proven that my anxiety wasn't unfounded.

Glad to have you back SParking! Sometimes we have little set-backs, but the key to long-term success is to climb back onto the healthy living bike and start the ride again. I have no doubt that emoticon

Fondly,
Diane

I'm doing good today. Back on track after having a really bad cold for the past week. I pretty much quit exercising and tracking my food (ate out a few times too). I'm feeling better today though, so I'm eating right again and going to walk on the treadmill some later. I probably won't do as much as I usually do, but I'll still try to get some exercise in! Hopefully this cold is gone completely in the next few days, and I can get back fully on my routine :)

Thank You! Here's to changing our lives! emoticon

We are heading to a christian concert this evening. Taking all of our boys with us too. Britt Nicole, Josh Wilson, Audrey Assad and Brandon Heath will be there. Can't wait to see Brandon Heath as the headliner. Love him!

Oh my gosh that must have been so hard. I don't know what I would have done to think one of my kids could go missing like that scares me to death. I know my two oldest ones have gotten lost in walmart and were so shocked over it and just to see their faces when you do get to them is just like I am so sorry that happened to you and you feel really bad. It wasn't your fault if you don't know that already. It happens. Kids wonder off all the time. Just thank God that he was alright. Now it is time to start taking care of you again. If you don't take care of you then who will take care of your boy. Keep going we know you can do it. Just pick yourself back up and start fresh today. emoticon

I haven't been online for a few days. Something pretty devastating happened on Sunday and I've been so shaken up about it when I get home from work every night I've just been sitting on the couch and watching teen mom. Being VERY LAZY!!

I won't be long winded but we were riding our bikes on the traili n the Withlacoochee Forest and my 13 year old son went the wrong way when we weren't looking (wasn't on purpose). After about an hour of not being able to find him we called 911 and it was 3 hours before a sheriff found him 7 miles away. All was ok but you can only imagine the horrible things that were running through my mind. I've been in a funk since then. Relieved that he is fine but still in a funk.

I've not eaten very well since then either and only went to the gym once. I'm going to get back up and start over. Fortunately I haven't gained any weight and somehow have managed to lose another pound. Back on the heavy water and healthy eating tomorrow!

Just dealing with a lot of feelings.

Doing well! Last week this time I had already lost 1.5 pounds just from tracking my calories and practicing yoga every day. I have since bumped up my exercise to Jillian Michael's standards (LOL) and this week I am still holding steady with my weight; haven't lost any more yet. :(
Weight loss can be a slow journey, but people want to see fast results! I'm glad I have a workout partner; we help keep each other motivated (I try not to kill her and she tries not to kill me!!) Both of our boyfriends say we look fine the way we are (bless their hearts!) but the health charts all agree that 15 pounds must come off! I'm confident that we can do this, together or alone, but together is more fun!

A little over 2 weeks into this stage of my journey and I am still feeling like I'm on the right track. I do seem to be low on calories on a regular basis, but to be honest, if I ate any more I think I would burst. I know that sounds strange and the area I am weakest in is fats which is probably even more strange. But other than having had a cold the past few days, I'm feeling pretty good.

Today is going to to be a busy one and hopefully, I'll stay on track calorie-wise. DH and I are heading out of town to visit a friend whose husband died over the weekend. (Sudden illness -- he was 64.) Anyway, we're meeting up with several other college friends and will pay our respects as a group, then will likely go out to dinner. Here's hoping that I'll be attracted to some of the reasonable calorie options. (When I dine out at home, I often ask for a take-out to be delivered with the meal. Before I even start eating, I put half in the box. This removes my temptation and keeps the calories reasonable.) Since I'll be eating more than 2 hours away from home tonight, I probably won't do that trick, so self-control will be paramount. :-)

I'm feeling a bit better today. I was feeling a bit blue yesterday as I was really excited to get back in to jogging but I've hurt my knee so it's going to have to go on hold for now. I was hoping to do the treat or treat virtual 5k at the end of next month so fingers crossed my knee will be better by then!

I'm feeling better today because I realised just because I can't jog for now doesn't mean I can't do anything, for instance I can work on my arms (bingo wings not getting any smaller on their own)!

I love all the motivational articles and tools that are on this site. I'm really glad I found it!

Having trouble with sodium. calorie intake is ok near top of range but still in range. do not add salt to anything but am surprised to see just how much is in bread tortillas cheese and egg beaters. put a pickle slice on my sandwich did not realize how much. really have to watch this.

kam2day74-I've never experienced shin splints but I'll bet if you enter it into the search bar at the top of the website you will find threads about it. Just a thought.

Today I didn't get to go to the gym as I had a conference at the school. Ate pretty well today. Had a cookie this morning but stayed within my cal/carb limit all day. Went for a bike ride this evening and a nat flew into my eye (OUCH!) so we came back after a mile :-(

Am going well with working....But not so great with tracking food. I am focusing on making good food choices but have been tracking. But I must be something right....I lost 2 pounds :)

Question: any one know if there is anything to do about shin splints. I have been having a lot of pain in my lower legs when I walk outside.(It''s not as bad when I walk on the tread mill).

Have a great day everyone!

Really glad to hear people are doing so well. So far I am just getting into the swing of things and getting myself motivated by reading healthy articles and have started to track nutrition and exercise. I am still working on getting to bed at a decent time. I think my shift of exercising in the morning today will help with that. I have a hard time in the mornings getting moving when the weather turns chill (health side effect) so really need to get the sleep hours to be able to get up and move like i need to do. I took at 45 min walk on beautiful trails with a good friend this morning and that really gave me a jump start. I think I might even do some more exercise later - just not too late in the day! Tonight I have a fun social/creative event. I just recently joined a group of women that make dolls and other creative things with a creativity coach. It really is fun and I need that in life too.
Keep doing well everyone!

Everyone is doing great! I am so excited because I am nearing my 20 pounds lost mark. I cannot wait for it. I may get there a little slower then I had hoped since Panera bread was brought to the office for lunch today (they bring a whole bunch of small sammiches) and I ate 1 1/2 sammys, a little salad and 1/2 a short bread cookie. I do however believe I stayed within my calories for the day. I'm about to go add everything up. This morning I did 17 minutes on the Arc Trainer (had to leave for an emergency or would've done 30 minutes) and this evening rode 5.40 miles on my bike.

I joined a 12 week competition in my community with my son to keep us motivated as well as a 10 week Biggest Loser competition in the 30 somethings with 100+ pds to lose team. This will keep me accountable. He is in the living room right now with the hubby trying out p90x. I told him as incentive, when he loses his first 13 pds I will give him this little mp3 player that I have sitting here on my desk that I don't use. He could stand to lose about 30 pounds. I think so long as I stay active, he will too. And my husband is just a huge support.

I've read that a few people are struggling with getting time to work out. I know this may not work for everyone (I know until now I wouldn't LET it work for me), but i started getting up much earlier then I used to and working out at the gym before I go into the office. I get there by 6:30am, work out till 7:15 or 7:30am, shower and am at work by 8am (I work across the street luckily).

I would love to have a buddy or two to talk to and keep each other motivated. If you are interested and want to be serious about losing the weight this time, send me a message.

I look forward to reading everyone's posts!!

I could do with a buddy and will add you! Need as much encouragement as possible to keep eating well and exercising. I tend to always start with enthusiasm, but the weight goes off so slowly that I end up giving up. I don't want to give up this time - I feel like if I don't start taking better care of myself now I'm just going to keep getting bigger!

I'm hitting it hard today!

Under goal for calories so far, and I have a healthy dinner planned. I also killed it at the gym today, working extra hard. Hopefully I can keep this up!

If anyone is looking for a buddy or support feel free to add me! A lot of things get posted here and it's hard to respond to everyone, but I think everyone is doing great based on what I've been reading!

We can do this!

Today was the first day since I joined that I was below my calorie intake. I joined on Thursday and have been over 2200 calories for every other day! Really relieved that today seemed more balanced and hoping that tomorrow I meet my target correctly.

Today is my official rest day yay have clocked 485 mins of exercise this past week phew. But then I do either 6 or 9 miles walking everyday with the school runs ( it's the 9 miles when my daughter attends pre-school twice a week). Though I say it's my rest day running around after a 4 yr old and a 2 1/2 yr old is hardly rest plus walking the dog but a lot easier than the rest of the week. Might actually get to watch a little bit of telly today love F1 grand prixs and it's Monza today. Have been good with my eating but still trying to get enough cals carbs and protein each day but I'm sure that'll come as I get more used to the amounts I can eat etc. Not been much under the target set for me so hopefully hasn't done me any harm. Looking forward to this week as it'll be my first full week on here, and I hope to see some small results.

Today was my second day under goal as far as calories go. Knowing that I'm going to have to log it in my tracker really takes the shine off of having a second helping.

I didn't get to really work out as it was a work day and I had plans for after, but I did manage to keep from going overboard at a pizza place, and when my boyfriend and I got to the movies early, I suggested that we walk around the 'village green' in the development the theater is in rather than going right in and sitting down. It wasn't a lot of exercise, but it was nice. I also got a diet coke instead of a beer at the theater which is WAY out of character for me. Again, that whole having to log it thing is a great motivator to avoid extra calories.

Today is going pretty good so far! Some friends invited us to eat out tonight (Indian food), so I have no idea what I'm going to eat there. I'm going to do really good all day today, and then try to only take a few bites of a few different things tonight. Hopefully it won't mess me up too bad. I'll do my hour on the treadmill today too. The scale says I've lost 4lbs so far, but I'm not going to count it until my first week is over on tuesday..maybe I'll have lost more by then ;). It's been almost a week since I've had any sodas which is AWESOME for me, and I've done some kind of exercise everyday. GO ME!

I know I ate way too much last night. My husband took me out for my Birthday and I overindulged. I mostly nibbled on my favorite things, but I know they all are high calorie things. But I drank a lot of wine. emoticon

On a plus note, I have managed to work out every day since I joined last Sunday night. I don't always get a chance to come online though. emoticon I did finally download the app for the IPhone for tracking food and fitness, now I just have remember it is on there. HAHAHA.

Seriously though, I am having some struggles with juggling all my resposibilities still but I am working it out slowly. My 5 year old has been in Kindergarten for oh a whole month now and they are concerned he has ADHD so we are working on getting him accessed for that. They give homework in Kindergarten here, and we literally spend 1 -2 hours a night doing homework. I think that is insane for a Kindergartner. Anyhoo. I think I should turn in soon. I am about to fall asleep.

Last night I ate way too much. I don't even want to know how many calories I consumed. Since it was mostly salty stuff, the scale is shaming me today. Today is a new day and I'm trying not to let me disappointment stall my motivation.

I started with a new belly dancing video this morning. I am so very out of shape. Just working on my arm movements has me feeling the burn. One day at a time and I'm not giving up.

We can do this!

Went to Dr on Wed he told me not to change what I was eating just add 30 min of walking 3 time a week. I am going to try to change more but will certainly try to do something 3 times a week.

I will succeed,It may take some time but I will get there

Way to go! I'm feeling good too. My calorie range is very high because I'm very fat, so it isn't that hard to stay within. My big deal is that I stayed away from sugar all week and exercised every day. Let's keep it up!

Woo hoo! Today I hit my calorie range. This is my day 3 and I went over the first 2 days. I have been trying to start slow so I haven't focused too much on my intake yet. Mostly I'm just trying to change my routine. It felt so good though when I got my daily nutrition analysis thing and I was within range on all the goals.

Baby steps to free myself from too much me.

Truly,

Tinkerbell - Good for you for trying to jumpstart your journey; however, if you find that you can't keep up with the liquid diet and veggies, please don't give up or get discouraged. I lost my excess weight just be decreasing the volume of things I was already eating (portion control, calorie counting, and nutrition tracking)and not eliminating anything-- though ultimately, my desire for sweets decreased as I realized how many calories they were adding when compared to the little nutrition they had. As my body got used to few if any sweets, it quit craving sugary things, which certainly helped with the journey to a healthy eating lifestyle that has been very easy to maintain.

Meredith and Jen - Way to go with the fitness. It is good to rest body areas that are sore and over-worked. I like cross-training. This allows sore areas to recover while still keeping other areas working. (In the past, if I overdid my whole body, I would take a few days off to recover and then never return. SP helped me find the tools and discipline to avoid that old failure trap.)

Keep us posted!

Today is a struggle. Have to drink 3 Hi Protein shakes and veggies and that is it. The shakes are not all that great but it is something I must do in order to get going on this life style change. I am grateful for what I have in life and feel if I work at this I will become the old me again. That is what is important to me. To be able to walk without the painful knees, hips and back. To ride my brand new PINK bike around the neighborhood. It all just seems so good and s emoticon emoticon

Good for you! I only managed 30 minutes on the elliptical and walking the dog, but it's something!

Whoa! And I thought I needed an hour training session. That 30 minute block kicked my bootie today! I've decided to take tomorrow off from the gym to give my legs time to function properly again. Since today was rubberband legs day I've decided Friday will be kill the abs day. It hurts so good!
