I'm grateful that I'm still walking with no broken bones after my fall. That's my NSV.
Hey youall,
I'm still kicking around but want to thank everyone for their kind comments here and on blog about my fall. It really was a nasty fall. I'll tell you I was scared to death I'd crush the kitty when I fell so I threw him out in front of me and he ran for deal life. Two guys came over to help me but I told them to catch the kitty first because I wasn't going anywhere.
EMS was called and they checked me out and lifted me to my feet as I could not get up on my own because of leg injury and its weakness from the sciatica. I did not go to the ER because you have to wait so long but I did get checked out and very fortunate that I did not have any broken bones. Doctor stressed how "lucky" I was that I did not break something especially my knee cap which got the brunt of the fall. Both knees are black & blue but my L leg is purple all the way around now from my knee down to my toes. Really ugly. I go to the doctor tomorrow to get checked again.
Anyway, let me tell you about the kitty. Waylon (kitty's name) is not doing good at all. He is so sick with this repiratory stuff but now I think something else is going on. We took him to the vet at the Animal Shelter since they said they would treat him since he was obviously sick when we got him as he was sneezing when we got home with him. We took him to their vet last Tuesday and they gave him an antibiotic shot.....he did not get any better but got worse with the coughing and sneezing snot...his little face was covered with it and his eyes were all goopy. We cleaned his face and did everything we could to get him to eat and drink. He did at the beginning but has slacked off so we took him back to the vet on Friday and that was when I fell, taking him into the clinic on the steps and porch. The vet said he still had the respiratory stuff going on but his lungs sounded clear so she put him on an antibiotic called Clavamox that we give him with an eye dropper twice a day.
That was Friday and today he is not better but worse. Very weak and now he won't even eat the sloppy, smelling canned fish food which he loved when we first got him. I am so worried about the little buy but I think he's fading on us. We have been using an eye dropper to give him water and chicken broth so he will not get dehydrated. He just won't eat or drink on his own. He is still coughing. Called the vet and they don't all me back so we are taking him over tomorrow regardless. It's very sad and I"m afraid I'll find him "gone" when I check on him in the mornings. It's sad that these cats get this respiratory bug at the shelter.
Our other cat, Wheezie, is a beautiful calico that had the bug and was so sick. She was on three antibiotics before she got over it and had to have IV fluids during her sick time but she was stronger and bigger and has recovered from it, although she did flare up earlier this month and we had to take her to the vet. I'm concerned that our other animals (cat and two dogs) might get sick so if kitty is still alive, I"m going to convince my daughter to leave him there. She said she did not want to try and get another kitty although they would let us get another healthy one. My son has a deposit on a little beagle puppy that he will be bringing home in the next month so that may make my daughter feel better.
It's hasn't been a very good last few days here with the sick kitty and my smashed up leg. But I will persevere and things will be better. As my sweet mother used to say, "better days are coming" and I believe it.
Take care dear friends! Love you all. Remember, God is good and will take care of us.

Hi!
Time for my 30 day check-in and all is good. I made four goals for each day which included getting 10 minutes of exercise, tracking my food, getting 7-8 of sleep, and drinking 6-8 glasses of water. I have done them all rather consistently except for the tracking which I obviously still need to work on!
I also weighed in each week (down 2.8 pounds) and walked a minimum of 12 km each week.
Will try to post pictures tomorrow although I don't think much has changed! Alas, I forgot to take my measurements at the beginning.
Oh, and as an added bonus I joined the YMCA this week!!! Have gone four days this week thus far!
I hope all of you are doing well!

I did my measurements this morning and I've lost an inch overall since the challenge started. Not much, but I'm getting close to back down to my all-time low measurements.
Nothing to report on weight, since part of my challenge is to not weigh myself for 60 days. I've got to admit, it's making me nervous!

Hi ~ I am coming to this thread waffling between it being WHOOO HOOO ~ or BOOO HOOOO ~ so I think I will go with I had 773 fitness minutes this month (tomorrow is rest day) ~ and only 2 lbs lost! However, I know it has been a good month. I am so glad to be making my exercise and running a priority! AND I know where I can make improvements on my nutrition that will help make that scale move! I am actually looking forward to taking measurements on Tuesday to see the difference there, b/c I know I'll see improvement there!!!

Down a couple of pounds. I was at this weight a week or so ago, but then I think I freaked out a little and sabotaged myself back up. Crossing the psychological "border" between weights caused me to "stutter." I've faced that issue now, and I'm ready to progress onward toward my goal.
Sparkers' encouragement has been so helpful. AND I'm taking my daily pledge a lot more specifically and seriously.
YAY to all of us!

Hi everyone, I have been battling hypoglycemia for years, but just recently, I felt the effects of it. I have had very swollen and sore joints, back, and legs. I have had mode swings, fatigue and difficulty sleeping...so...I talked to my doctor, and he adviced me to try to eliminate all processed sugar and processed food from diet for a two weeks, until I see him for my physical, and see how I feel...well, I did that, and I LOST 10 POUNDS!!!!!! I have no pain in my joints, my back feels better, my moods are better, more energy..everything...I don't crave bad food, my appetite is even smaller, and I eat more, only good stuff. I am sooooooo excited...I called the doctor, and he was estatic! He said the weight loss will slow down, as a lot of this is water weight from being swollen, but....if I keep the good habits, I should be able to lose 2-3 each week, exercising and eating well. This is the best I have felt in years!!!!!

For me, this challenge was about doing what worked for me last year when I lost 25 pounds. I've stayed in the same area ever since because I've just been a little too lax in my eating habits. So now I'm trying to lost the last 10-15 pounds. I've been tracking every day and really working to stay in range, though each week I've blown it at least once! Exercise is going great, I'm running 14 miles a week and doing circuit training 3 days, along with a little swimming.
The biggest change for me is that I put away the scale after weighing myself every day for the past 30 years. This is HUGE. I think it's working in my favor because I really want to see a difference at the end of the 60 days and the suspense is helping me to stay on track.
This challenge has been great so far...thanks to our fearless leaders!

Like a couple of you, I started the first week on vacation with limited internet but tried to atleast post activities and be aware of what I was eating. Since being home I have been able to keep up with tracking food intact and have exceeded my minutes of weekly excercise. I have also been able to stay true to not eating after 8pm. I am very happy with how it is going and have lost 4lbs so far. My weigh in days are Fridays so I look forward to seeing what this week will bring. Today I was able to get further in the same amount of time with my walking which is a non-weight goal for me!! Hoping to add some jogging soon. I have noticed that it is slowly getting harder and harder to to keep up with tracking my food so will try to make that a priority. Guess that's it so far. I am enjoying reading everyone's posts and blogs. Thanks for sharing you journey.

Week one was not very good for eating and I gained 2 lbs Week 2 was better and I was able to lose the 2 lbs from week 1 as well as meeting my other goals on several days. It is getting more difficult to find that bag of garbage a day without really going through major stuff.

So far so good on my challenge. I started this challenge on vacation and didn't really get on track until I got home. A little over a week ago I decided to try out the 17 Day Diet. Something to help me with my cravings. I am in the cleansing cycle which is where you lose the most weight. I have lost 9.5 pounds so far. Since my goal was 10-15 pounds during this challenge I think I will meet that. I have been meeting all my other goals except reading. I really do need to find more time to do that.

Revising time is in...???
Here are my First set of gaols for this challenge, so let's see:
1. Work and learn to deal with my diabetes type 2. I will use the help of the Official 8 Weeks SparkPeople approach, each day and do everything they suggest each day.
Ok, I set my goals on learning on handling Diabetes to be able to loose weight, and those goes hand in hand with the specific ones set on this team. I started to track every meal and snack. I have started the Coach Nichole Diabetes exercise Plan, that is, 3 - 5 10 minutes cardio video, and 3 20 minutes resistance workouts a week. All set and started. Pretty soon, going onto week 2 guide lines.
2. Develop momentum with exercise, gain endurance, develop accountability, and make exercise part of my living style. I will used the help of July with Jillian team, and Coach Nichole Exercise plan for Official 8 weeks Diabetes Challenge.
OK, not much endurance yet, but momentum is on.
3. Decluter for 15 timed minutes everyday. I I could more, then it will be another Jesus victory.
I started off very well, until last week that Angelica came in from TX for a family, one week visit, and I forgot about the whole decluttering thing. So going back to those 15 minutes and make it a 30 each day this week to catch up a little.
4. Keep everything simple.
This past week had been better, except for the 2 days at YMCA and going running errands with mom, we ended up hanging out at the coffee shop and return home at 7:00 pm both days. LOL, it was nice though!!!!
Now comes revising specific, more clear goals, so let's see:
1. To loss 8 pounds by the end of this challenge. :( Have not weight in yet because I get scared, but I will do it tomorrow and let all know.
2. To loss 3 inches, 1 in breast, 1 in waist, and 1 in tight, by the end of this challenge. This one will be at the end of the challenge.
3. To exercise at least 30 minutes a day without feeling so tired and without feeling pain, by the end of this challenge. :) 4 out of 7 days last week, can I say a yay!!!!...???
4. In terms of the Official Diabetes Challenge, I will post the weekly challenges, assignments, and report on those same posts about my achievements. My A1C to go to a healthy range, by the end of this challenge. Week one - done Week 2 working on it
5. In terms of my 15 minutes daily on decluttering and organizing, I will take a before picture on Monday and an after picture on Saturday and post them here.
I took the before one, but then I did not on the after on Saturday, so I'll do it this week. :(
Conclusion: Need to focus more, improve more and try to have some of it, done, everyday of this week!!!!

There's nothing wrong with using the word "diet". It comes from the Greek word "diaita", meaning way of life. So to lose weight and keep it off we need to change our way of life.

Thanks for adding the progress thread and welcome back to the world of technology!! After establishing lofty goals for the challenge, I quickly whittled it down to average steps/day and average aerobic minutes/day and am doing well. I am walking more steps than I ever have, and my minutes, while not great, are better than the whole year. Alas, my weight is the same but I have not been diligent about what goes into my mouth! So, for this week I am adding logging food daily and averaging the right calories and fat grams for the week.
