I am 5' 2.5" and weigh 117 lbs.

For those of us who remember when clothing sizes were standardized, this is a very touchy subject! I wear (depending on manufacturer/store/clothing line) 4 or 6 petite, 2, 4, XS or S. I find I have to try everything on before I take it home, which is really frustrating at times!

Also, its becoming really hard finding age-appropriate clothing for work now that I'm close to retirement age--especially in smaller sizes.

Hi!
I'm 4'11'' and I weigh 125lbs.
Oooohh...clothing sizes. I hate shopping for clothes! Everything varies on me, and I have to be careful about the brand. Pants are normally a 7-9, depending. I have a pair of Maurices pants however, that are a 3/4. Shirts. OMG. Anything from an xs-large. When I pick out clothes to try on, I normally have a small, medium and large for that shirt because you never know. Scrubs, on the other hand, I normally get xs or small. Larges fall off me but I have some mediums that fit perfectly and others that are huge. Dresses are a pain, so I hardly ever even try with them.

I forgot to put that I wear a Medium but it is a little tight, depends on how it is made. Pants, probably a 12, but I've joined a gym so hopefully all that will change. I can't fit into my dresses/skirts and haven't boughten any lately.

I am 5' 1.75" - 183.4 lbs - size 14-16. I end up buying regular length stuff and rolling the cuffs or the waist on pants. Most shirts I have to go with XL - XXL only because I have a very large bust and can't fit the girls into anything - so everything is really long. Normal shirts look like dresses. Capris look like pants. Forget getting a Maxi dress.

I am learning to sew so that I can make my own clothes or custom fit clothes to my size.

I love being short - tall people are scared of us because we know how to get what we want - even if it means climbing up someone. :)

I'm 5 ft. 1.5 inches....clothing sizes varies constantly (like the scale). Find that some petite pants are too short and i end up going to the avaerage for length.

Size varies widely. I seriously need to re-lose most of the weight I'd previously lost. I carry it in my hips, but I have everything from small to extra-large. It really depends on the design.

Also, higher end clothes tend to size smaller. I also find that I can a smaller size in skirts vs pants.

I get very frustrated being short, 4' 8". I used to be 4' 10". Everyting needs hemmed, except blouses, but now that I need to lose some inches, even blouses fit too tight around the hips and abs.
I'd like to buy a skirt or dress. I have mostly jeans and a couple pair of jean shorts...my fat clothes. I wear a size 2 in shoes, for the longest time it was 1 1/2. Because of my Hallux Limitus, I have to wear a 'wide' shoe, which they don't make too many in kids sizes.

Hi I just found this group! Just joined! I am just right under 5'4-almost , 160 lb right now. I dont like when people say 'you're short!' when I wear flats. So I'm always trying to wear platforms. But sometimes I just try to wear flats and keep my head high and not be intimidated by being shorter than others. - The 5'7 & up men and women!

Thanks for that comment, MLOGAL. I didn't realize it was a Petite Problem. You are RIGHT! They have Junior and Petite sizes, but still

I am generally frustrated. I am 5 foot 1, weigh 169 and wear a size 14 petite. My story is that my whole life I weighed 94 pounds, but do to certain circumstances, I went up to 200. So, I have lost some weight, but am still so disgusted. I am determined to go down to 110 by January 2016. I want to be attractive.

Thrift stores are my favorit for shopping. I looked up the diet you said you were using and the search brought me to this group and i was delighted to discover you were in it already.
I cant do skinny pants because my calfs are pretty hefty and can't even get my legs in them.

Good to see you here, Nancy.

I'm so delighted with my size 8 pants. For years, I was getting 13-14 and they were getting snug on me. When I lost my weight, I took a trip to Goodwill and found out the 8s worked for me. Most of them have those skinny legs, too.

I started at 165 and now down to 134. I hope to get down permanently to 125. Have been below and above 130 for the last couple years. i wear size 4 pants in most brands, but have some 2 in Worthington from JCPENNY. My shoulders are wide so medium usually feels more comfortable in shirts but they are usually pretty roomy overall.

We should share "war stories" since I am 5'2" and am working down to 140. I only hope it is possible for me. I am currently at 193+/-. It is difficult to buy pants since I need about 2:" more over the rear and 2" less in the front. Does anyone know of a brand that provides for these 2"? My clothing size is 18 but that is a little loose now. Hopefully, the size 16 will just be a little small and not showing all the panty seams. I originally weighed 215 and wore a size 22-24. I am really happy with the loss and the plateau (not gaining it back).

i was 5'1" but am now shrinking a bit, so at 69 years old I'm now 4'11". I reached maintenance last September and was AMAZED that I fit size 8 pants and Small blouses.

I was 162 and lost down to 125 which is my maintenance weight. I set a goal of 120, not seeing that happen yet. I'm happy with 125 and have lots of energy and was able to stop taking blood pressure meds.

I'm 5'2, 175 lbs and I wear a size 10 on average. Sometimes an 8 or 12 depending on the cut of the dress. I have a 29in waist, D cup bust and 45" hip, so things fit me very strangely lol. If it fits my bum it's way too baggy on my waist, if it fits my waist it's way too tight for my bum. So it takes a bit of work to find the perfect dress. I love my body and shape though, my curves are my own and I adore them. :)

I am 5' 0" (although my daughters say I'm shrinking). Generally weigh around 99 - 100. Size 2P usually fit perfect. Loft and Banana Republic clothing fit well. It's hard to find dresses (even in petite) that are not too long. Trying to maintain weight at 99.

I am 5'1" and I currently weight 213 lbs. I wear a size 18/20p in pants (depends greatly on the brand) and an XL/1XL shirt (once again depending on the brand). My goal is to get down to 140 lbs, don't care about the size at this point. Ultimately I would like to get down past 140 but 140 is my goal for now. :)

I'm 5'1" & weigh 116.9 pounds. I used to be 135 pounds.
I have size 4 women's pants & shorts. I also have 2 pairs of little girls' shorts that are size 16. These seem to be more modest than the size 4 women's shorts & are about the same size.

I would love to get to 110 pounds & were a little girls' size 12 (ideally), 14 would be good.

If its women's pants: I can wear anywhere from a 10 to 14.
Women's tops: Medium or large.
If its junior's pants: Anywhere from a 11 to 15.
Tops: Large or extra-large.

I'm 5' 3" and my current weight is 147.5. I'm a size 6 or 7 although I have some 8s but they're feeling very loose now. I always buy a medium shirt. My goal weight range is 135 to 140. I get sickly looking any lower. Strange isn't it how our different body types work. I have what people would call a hourglass figure. I'm not exactly big chested but I am small waisted. Even at my heaviest I had a hourglass type figure.

A day at a time and I will reach my goal. I am not perfect but I will forgive myself for the mistakes I make. Life is full of choices and sometimes we don't always make the best ones but that's what makes us human.

Hi, I found this board by Googling jeans for petite women... I'm 165 lbs and 5 feet tall. Though at my last physical, I seem to have grown 1/4 of an inch! How is that possible at age 41? LOL.

I lost 42 lbs in 2003 with WeightWatchers. I'm now back up to 165. However, my body is shaped differently this time around. It's so weird.

In 2003 I wore size 16 and I was tired of it. So I joined weightwatchers and got down to 115. But now I've gained it all back and 5 extra lbs.

Now I'm wearing size 12 bottoms. I have to wear XL tops, though, because I think most of my weight is in my chest area! In 2003, my stomach was bigger than my chest. My stomach is still smaller than my chest. I think I'm wearing bigger bras now than in 2003.

Somehow my fat shifted. I've also maintained my curvy figure. So weird.

Anyway, really frustrated to find stuff in my size. I remember the first time I lost weight, my chest was the last to lose weight. I'm also noticing that it's the first to gain weight and the last to lose weight. So frustrating.

Anyway, I need to find more jeans. I need something cheap. Having curves is difficult because the butt will fit, but the stomach will be too small. And I have a problem with chafing. My last pairs of pants have been worn out on the insides of my thighs. Sigh.

It's like my nightmare has come true. I gained weight, but my clothes still fit the same. So weird. So now I'm in a size 12 jeans instead of in size 16 jeans. Not sure how that happened.

And where can I find good cheap jeans for petites?

I too am a shrinking Grandma - I used to be 5'2" but am now 5'1," I am down 27+/- lbs. My start weight was 207 and today it was 181.4. I used to wear either a 2X or a 3X. Some of the tops I just bought were 1X and the new bra the same size as before even though that's where I lost the most but they were a different brand and different style. My pants were a 20 or 22 depending on the fit and I just bought a couple of pair of shorts in size 16. Unfortunately, they are the current low cut trend. I'm short waisted but these are a bit snug trying to wear them up - my old ones I could bring up almost to my bra, now they would probably come up to my armpits, lol. I hope to lose at least another 25 lbs. My husband has been dieting with me but he lost 52 lbs to my 27, the show-off!

Lost 48 lbs. in 2012 & 13 but gained 30 back!

Now I am 5' 2.75" (I usually put down 5' 3" on forms).

I am Down from a XXL to just XL and ready to go smaller.

I'm petite in height, but a full figure woman. I wear size 16w pants. I find that petite size pants hit me around my ankle, which I don't like. Is it because I'm full figured?

Hi, interesting topic!

I am 5' 2.5" and started out at 160. I am now at my goal weight of 115. Sizes have gone from L-XL in shirts to S-M and as for pants, sizes are so inconsistent there it is hard to say, I have on a pair of jeans today that say "Small" on the tag. I did however buy bathing suit separates in February with a size 6 bottom and a 14 top. My bra size also dropped from a 38DD to a 36C(D) depending on manufacturer

Yes you can!
