Did my final 5k of 3 race series on Tuesday night. I have not managed to get in any training lately so it was my slowest of the year at 31 m 50 s. At least I finished it!

That 5K personal best was 28:28.

Oct 15 is the GoGreen 5K. I plan to go try the gravel, grass, and dirt trail to make sure I can do it, but I plan to run.

Nov 12 is the Lake to Lake 10K. I'll be running it baring unexpected issue.

I'm hoping to run a HM in Jan or Feb, but haven't chosen one yet.

My next race is tomorrow. Just going to chill and pick up my race packet today as well as my 25 year old niece's packet. I do have my usual child care duties, so I won't be a slug today. Hope to keep my nerve in check, trim my toe nails, set out my clothes, etc.

I ran a 5K yesterday in 36:10 and walked one today in 40:32. Think I'll just run the 5K on Saturday just for exercise and fun!! I'm out of the medal contention anyway because I missed run 3.

I spent an hour on the treadmill today, but only ran a little bit. I noted that my 5K time was 44:02, but since I started out @ 2mph, I know I can do better. Still recovering from bad cold.

I got 2 runs in and then got another cold. Darn. It may be coincidence or perhaps I blew my immunities by overtraining. I'm thinking of joining a Galloway group and sticking to run/walk and see if I stay well.

Not worried about Aug 20th run. If I feel well and get back up to speed, I'll run. If not, I'll skip it. There is another 5K race 2 weeks later, Sept 3, here in town sponsored by the store where I buy my running shoes. It is to raise money to build bathrooms at my favorite running course, Lake Hollingsworth. If I'm feeling well, I plan to do it.

I am signed up for race #4 of the Watermelon Series 5K. Since I missed race 3, I can't place, but I could still go for a good time or my best time in that much heat. It is August 20th. Probably will do it if I can get going with my training runs. I didn't exercise for about 10 days due to illness. I started walking again this week and did elliptical yesterday. Going to start running again this weekl

Had to miss my race. I may go ahead and run race 4 on August 20th, even though there is no chance for an award in the 4 race series now. I can still go for a personal best, or pb in high heat/humidity.

I finished the Watermelon Series 5K, second race, with a gun time of 29:22 and a chip time of 29:10. It's the fourth 5K I have run and the first time I did not run a personal best. I still feel good about it. The last time I ran I honestly did not feel good throughout the race, but this time I felt much better. Last time I may have been too worried about my heart rate.

I'm looking for a personal trainer or someone to advise me. I was running more confidently until I got the heart rate monitor and it shows my heart rate goes awfully high - like 180 - even higher than some of the formulas say my maximum heart rate ought to be for my age. Either I've got to find someone who can advise me or I've got to ignore it altogether and just stick with the "perceived rate of exertion."

Awards are given out after the fourth race of the series. Right now I'm in second place in my age group, but third place is only 4 seconds behind me. First is a phenom who just turned 60 and can run a 5K in 22 minutes, so second is my place to hold. The third place person was the winner last year for our age group.

Congrats, Hazel! Love those under 30 minute 5Ks.

I'm running a 5K tomorrow morning. It will definitely be the hottest 5K I've ever run. I may break 30 minutes. Gonna try.

Great Job Marsha!!!

I hope to do that well at my first 5K on June 18. Well, it would be awesome to do it in under 30:00.

I will post results then... less than 2 weeks away!

My time was 28:46 and I came in second in my age group.

I will confess that I didn't feel really good during my race. For the first mile I kept wondering why I was doing it. When I heard my time for the first mile was 9:29, I immediately felt better. Perhaps it was the humidity. I don't know. Sometimes when I run it feels good. Wish I could run a race and feel good. Maybe when you are pushing it, it just doesn't feel good.

I'm considering getting a personal trainer or certified running coach to help me sort this out. May need some individual attention especially about my heart rate and heart rate monitor.

My next 5K race is Sat. June 4th @ 7am. It is part of the Watermelon Sunrise 5K Series: 2 in June, one in July, and one in August. Awards and tee shirts are given out after the 4th race.

This is my third running 5K. I placed third in my age group in my two previous runs. My chip time was 29:55. With the heat and humidity rising, I plan to run but won't sweat it (poor pun) if I don't make another personal best. We'll see.

I'm planning to meet with a personal trainer, maybe this week. I just got a heart rate monitor, but find I'm running well over the heart rate it recommends. Want to make sure I'm running smart.
