I ran my 5th 5K. I missed one in the series of races, so I was out of the running - so to speak - for the trophies. I ran for fun and exercise, not too fast, at 31:21.

I've got a miserable cold and it has thrown my training plans off. Yesterday I just rested, mostly staying in bed and on the couch, and didn't talk all day. Today I have my 9 month old granddaughter; I kept her and 4 year old sister on Sunday so they've already been exposed. For the most part I can just sit on the floor and she'll crawl to me from time to time. I can say a few words today, but bad cough tells me it isn't a day to run. Hope to be well enough to run my race on Saturday.

I did 4 miles on the treadmill today. I ran one whole mile at 6.8 mph, a pace of under 9 minutes per mile. Hope I can go that fast next Saturday for the whole 3.1 miles. The route is fairly flat, but a little more incline than my treadmill. The biggest variable is the weather. The heat and humidity may make it tough to achieve my best, but all I can do is smile and try!! I am so grateful to be able to run -- and run well -- at age 62. After decades of living like a couch potato, I truly amaze myself.

Today I walked the dog for 45 minutes and did 30 minutes on the treadmill and then Walk Away the Pounds-type moves with one aerobics step for another 45 minutes. I spent 90 minutes in the water with my granddaughter and I wasn't sedentary, but I would not say I got much swimming done. It was fun, though.

Today I did a 50 minute SparkTeam walk, then I had breakfast, went shopping a little, and then I ran 6.2 miles on the treadmill at the Y. I ran pretty slow, mostly 5.5 mph, with only one 7mph interval. I enjoyed every step!!

Today I woke up wanting to run, but in keeping with the Running Until You're 100 book, I walked. I walked a good pace for 105 minutes. Walked the dog for 45 minutes. That gets me some upper body work, too, because despite obedience training and a pinch collar, she still wants to pull.

I ran the second of the Watermelon Series 5Ks with a gun time of 29:22. I'm in second place for my age group. 2 more races to go. I estimate that is about 16 seconds slower than I ran the first race, but it sure felt a lot better. I really felt good throughout the race this time.

My first mile time was 9:14, which was my best first mile. Must have slowed down after that. Still, I'm happy with my time. I'm currently in second place in my age group.

I ran 3.5 miles yesterday. Walked today. No more running until my 5K on Saturday. My lower back is still a little sore, but fortunately, it doesn't seem to really bother me while I run. I feel it when I bend.

Did a 4 mile run today in 42:30. I had a mental block before I went out because the only other time I ran close to that far was because I was running for 40 straight minutes on the 5K training plan and didn't have an actual mileage goal. Strange how my brain didn't want to believe that I could do it when mileage was the goal instead of minutes!! (??)

I mapped a 4 mile loop using the SparkPeople Fitness Map tool and it turned out to be a good challenge because of the hills (Pittsburgh is like that LOL).

Had a good stretching session upon my return. Ahhh, now that feels good :)

Monday - cycled to work and then spinning class - really tough one!

Tuesday - outdoor interval training - really tough, legs felt like lead after Mon night spinning, then some cross training

Wednesday - cycled to work, may go for walk with DH later if weather brightens up, if not rest day!

Today I did 3.25 miles on the treadmill. Only ran about 1 mile of it. My back isn't terrible, but it isn't right. Trying to use good sense, but still not sure if it is just muscle soreness or if I really pulled something. I think it is getting better. Time will tell. My next race is June 25th. I'm going to go very light on strength training until then.

Marsha, great that you can still do the running!! :)

I ran with my friend's dog this morning... about 2 miles before the dog refused to go any farther... can't believe that I can run longer than a dog! lol

Wanted to do 3 (consecutive) miles today so later in the afternoon I did my typical 3 mile run sans dog, My legs were not "fresh" so my time was considerably slower than usual :)

Also planning to get some strength work (especially upper body) in this evening.

One thing I forgot to say is that despite my back not feeling quite right, I ran nearly 4 miles on the treadmill yesterday. Running didn't seem to bother it. Bending is what hurts.

Wendy - congrats on that 5K time! Great!!

I have not done anything today. Usually on work days I workout at least 1/2 hour before work, but my lower back was hurting and I just felt blah and low energy. Actually, feel better now. May be able to walk or do some cross training after work.

Think I did my back in during the Body Scupting class on Friday. I did it with my daughter and probably tried to show off too much!! My back is getting better, but I must have strained something. Darn.

My next official race is not until 24th July but there is a series of once a month runs starting 5th July which I may go for to see if i can get that time down and to keep me focused.

Also good to see we are all doing other things to keep the cross training going. I am off to spinning class tonight missed it last week, the first time this year I have missed a week!

have a great week and I will try and sort us a logo later today!

Good for you, Wendy! Thanks for the encouragement.

I went to Weight Watchers this morning and am solidly within my weight range. My personal range is 124-129.9 and I weighed 127 this morning.

I then went to the YMCA and did 20 minutes on the elliptical. Zumba class was starting and I decided to do it again, so that is 2 days in a row, an hour of Zumba. Hope to go swim with my granddaughter this afternoon; that will be a lot of fun, but not that many calories burned.

I plan to run tomorrow. One bummer. I heard that a place near my home where I really like to run has had some problems with attacks on runners. I think there is more volunteer surveilence now than when it happened a year ago or so. There are sheriff golf carts manned by volunteers, but I may just not feel as comfortable as I did before I knew of the problems. Could run in my own neighborhood/my street instead. Will think about it. There is always the treadmill, too, here and at the gym.

Rest Days are really important so you are smart to take it easy today (stair climbing not withstanding :)

I completed 3.1 miles this morning - got out at 6 am so I could be done before it got too hot!

This week's plan...

Sunday... Rest day (done)
Monday... Ran 2 mile, walked 1 mile, Curves circuit (done)
Tuesday... Zumba on the Circuit at Curves (done)
Wednesday... Run 3 miles (3.1 mi done!)
Thursday... Zumba on the Circuit at Curves
Friday... Zumba on the Circuit at Curves
Saturday... Run 3 miles (maybe a last minute 5K registration?)

Great plan, after yesterdays exploits today is a rest day. I am feeling quite achey and I am in work all day which means lots of stair climbing!

Today I planned on doing a training run, but I woke up really, really sore. I ran my 5K Saturday and felt good Sunday. Walked 8 miles Sunday in new shoes (dumb). Then in the afternoon did my strength training at the gym. In the past year and a half I have done at least 2 strength training sessions weekly, except for the week of March 12th which was my first 5K. I did do my strength training the week of May 7, my second 5K. But this last week I just didn't want to do it. I think I missed 2 sessions. So I may be sore delayed from the race, or from the walk, or from the strength training or combination???

The soreness in my glutes is more than I've ever had before, but it feels like normal soreness. My thighs are a little sore. The bottom of my left foot has a spot that does not feel right. My daughter, the massage therapist, will be back from out of state on Tuesday and I'll hopefully get a professional consultation by Wednesday. Might be a spasm. Doesn't hurt terrible, but does not feel right -- kind of clicks like something is popping. This, too, shall pass!

I did 30 minutes of Walk Away the Pounds before work this morn. Plan to walk the dog this eve and run tomorrow.

Sorry I was busy over the weekend,

Did my 12 min treadmill routine yesterday, found it really hard, think I ate too much Saturday.

My next 5k race is Tues at 6.45pm so hoping to have everything flushed out by then! Hoping to get below that 30 min official time!

Well done on your time though SLENDERELLA!

Today I walked 8 miles. My first 5 miles I walked in just over an hour. Then my shoe started bothering me. I could feel my glutes, too. Guess they were a little sore from the race yesterday. Had I felt really good I might have walked a 13.1, but decided to defer that distance until probably next week end when I won't be sore and will make sure I have on my best shoes.

Ran a 5K this morning. The times aren't posted yet, but I'm pretty sure I made a personal best. I think it was under 29. I was distracted by competition at the end of the race and forgot to look at the clock!! When I did look it was 29:30, so I know it was under that. I'm thinking I did good in my age group, too. We'll see.

Sounds good Marsha, yesterday was meant to be a 12 min treadmill run at the gym, but did not make the gym. SO a challenging 3 mile run in the hottest part of the day staright after lunch - I managed it though. Then played crazel golf with the family then a little tennis and then a swim in an outdoor pool which was bliss. Then in the evening Body Balance class a great way to get the kinks back out.

We are set for a beautiful weekend so lots of outdoor exercise for me I think. Hope the weather is good for everyone!
