I totally agreed with the selection. Chef Gavin also messed up on the entree as well Scott clearly won the first two rounds.

I've always liked Scott Conant, but the word "endearing" never occurred to me until tonight. Who would have thought he was such a big mooshball? Watching him deal with self-doubt AND gushing about his little girl was just so sweet. I was a bit startled to realize just before the end that if he didn't win I'd probably shed a few tears. (And by the way, he absolutely cracked me up with that snide reference to Chef Zakarian's age!)

Some people have howled about favoritism but I think the right chef won. Chef Gavin is amazing but he DID damage the crab by saucing the crisp surface and he did undercook his farro.

All in all an amazing battle between two supremely talented chefs. A sheer pleasure to watch.

Whatever his other talents, Johnny Weir is no actor. That had to be the hokiest-sounding cry I've ever heard.

I still think Scott and Gavin will finish first and second, in either order.

I'm rewatching the judges' episode right now. I find it very funny that gorgeous, almost-regal Amanda is the one with the potty mouth! She's the only one who talked about kicking (donkey).

O. M. Freakin'. G. I thought it couldn't get better after last week. Until it did. I had tears in my eyes each chop. I don't seriously see how either Sunny Anderson or next week's celebrity winner can stand up to either Gavin Kaysen or Scott Conant. I suspect they'll be the two in the dessert round of the finale.

Can't wait to see the judges tonight! Marc Murphy must have done something ghastly to his left hand, though. In the ads he has a seriously heavy-duty brace on it.

Alex is my girl! But though normally she'd be my favorite without question, since she won Next Iron Chef I want Amanda to win this time.

I've heard of Gavin once or twice before, but I've never seen him on anything, so it was a nice introduction to him. I don't know that I want him to win, depends who else is in the finale, but I think he could go further than Sunny.

This was the second episode in a row that the person I wanted was chopped in the last round (last week Jeff, this week Blais).

I loved Blais's comment about there being a cheese course he didn't know about. I am a little upset that Gavin decided to create a cheese course instead of incorporating all of the ingredients into his entree. Even though the literal instructions are "one plate," to me it means one course, not two separate courses put on the same plate. It did look like a very good plate, though, and I'm not surprised the judges liked it.

I'm really looking forward to next week's episode - I love the judges that are competing and I'm super excited to see them on the other side of the basket! (I'm rooting for Alex - she's my favorite)

WOW! That was without question the most kick-^$$ Chopped episode EVER. I literally didn't breathe for the entire second half of the dessert round, and I had totally no clue who would win. I wasn't familiar with Gavin Kaysen before this, but I will be shocked if he isn't in the dessert round of the finale. And I think this is the best I've ever liked Richard Blais.

I think Nadia's downfall was that she plan her time well, and she was rushing too much at the end. I think a big part of the show is working within the time limit and managing your time properly, and she was eliminated because she failed at time management, even though she transformed the ingredients best.
I would have liked to see her go further, but I do understand why she was chopped.

I agree with you about Nadia G, and didn't think see should have been eliminated. I thought she could have won it all if she had made it past the appetizer round.

I love Jeff Mauro! I was bummed he lost. I don't think Sunny will last past the appetizer in the final.

Apropos of nothing, it struck me last night that when Nadia G. isn't being crazy she's actually quite lovely. She has beautiful eyes. I don't blame her for being ticked off being eliminated after Gabriele just gave them a shot glass of mango juice. And did you notice she was actually kind of discombobulated by his (borderline inappropriate) remark about his dish being an "after sex with the wife brunch?"

Tonight is stars of Food Network (Jeff Mauro and Sunny Anderson) vs. Cooking Channel (Gabriele Corcos and Nadia G.).

They're going to have a celebrity category this year (not sure about that). We know from Rachael vs. Guy that Joey Fatone can cook and Johnny Weir can't unless it's chicken (and rarely then). Laila Ali and Judy Gold are unknown quantities.

The so-called "mega-chefs" are Richard Blais, Elizabeth Falkner, Chuck Hughes and Gavin Kaysen. I don't know anything about Chef Gavin, but I think the other three are too close to call. I wonder if they'll allow Chef Richard to use his liquid nitrogen?

For the Chopped judges we're going to have Scott Conant, Marc Murphy, Amanda Freitag and Alex Guarnaschelli. Alex is my girl, but since she won Next Iron Chef I hope Amanda takes this one. But since Marcus Samuelsson won last year, I wonder if they'll have another Chopped judge win?

This is going to be fun!
