There is that. However I'm hoping overall in the long term she will demonstrate she deserves to be an Iron Chef. I'm just hoping people want to choose her as a competitor.

Alex is actually in rather a bad position here. If she loses tomorrow people will say she didn't deserve to be an Iron Chef after all. If she wins, people will say the competition is rigged.

I did know that and also she is the one who beat Alex out on a prior run for Iron Chef. I just can't they'd set it up so she would lose in that situation. No one has lost on their first trip out that I can remember. I guess we will see soon enough.

I hope so, but Judy Joo is a formidable opponent. She's an Iron Chef herself in the UK.

So Alex makes her priemere as an Iron Chef tomorrow, and I'm, assuming she is going to win as they always win the first time out.

I am SO happy Alex won, I actually cried! I rooted for her last year AND this year. However, Amanda has absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of. It may have been the best match-up I've ever seen on Iron Chef. Either would bring honor to Kitchen Stadium. I hit their Facebook pages and congratulated both of them.

Guess Geoffrey needs to find a new sous chef.

(Okay, am I the only one who thinks that Rachael vs. Guy is going to be a major comedown after this?)

Who'd have thought that beautiful, ladylike Amanda had such a case of sailor-mouth!

I'm not sorry to see Chef Mehta go. I haven't liked him from the git-go. I've softened substantially toward Chef Appelman, but I still want to see Alex and Amanda in the finals.

Why am I not surprised that Simon Majumdar loves peanut butter and blue cheese sandwiches? I love both peanut butter and blue cheese, but the thought of them together makes me queasy.

Not only still standing won the challenge last night. I was glad they didn't punish Alex that much for using some of the cows head. As for Chef Faulkner, I was really surprised that she ended up eliminated.

Okay, I seriously did NOT see that coming. But I don't think Chef Falkner was eliminated for the saffron as much as for the fried fishs scales. Ewww. They've done the Risk challenege twice now, and both times the outcome has been the same. I think if I was doing that challenge I'd want to go into it on the bottom!

I can't believe Chef Vigneron is still standing.

I completely agreed with Nate Appelman -- they both should have been eliminated for a juvenile stunt like that. It showed complete disrespect for the competition and the judges.

Each week I am disliking Chef Mehta more and more. He seems really arrogant. Chef Greenspan acts much more like a team player.

I like that Geoffrey was the first eliminated because it was not a true collaboration. I thought Robert Irvine was going to have a nervous breakdown when his wife was cooking, but it was cute.

Is Family Challenge going to be an ongoing program?

Totally agreed with Simon about Chef Vigneron's plating. It's definitely not Kitchen Stadium quality. And I absolutely would have eliminated Chef Mehta over Chef Greenspan.

Am I imagining that Chef Falkner has an eye for Chef Freitag? I've suspected for awhile that Elizabeth prefers women, but I have totally no idea about Amanda. Married? Gay? Big crabby boyfriend in the background?

Love, love, LOVE how my girl Alex is doing!

I'm watching All-Star Family Cookoff right now. Funny! (Alex clearly gets her looks AND her fire from her mom.)

Now that's interesting. Last week in the preview of tonight's episode Chef Appleman said, "I don't know what Chef Guarnaschelli tastes like." (Mental image firmly squelched.) In the ads during the week he said, "Chef Freitag." Can't wait to see who it turns out to be -- and I can't help wondering how both versions made it onto the air!

Alex is easily leading the online fan vote. She's got 33% of the vote. Next is Elizabeth Falkner with 19%.

Really! I wouldn't want to cook near him. I think he defiantly should have been called on that.
It was funny when Alex was jumping around. She always tries to act so proper. She is much more fun to watch when she lets loose.
I think Chef Faulkner is going to be hard to beat. I was a little surprised Anne Burrell wasn't back, glad but surprised. She can be a bit obnoxious.
I started to watch the Thanksgiving showdown but the hubby wanted to go to bed so I'll have to catch it later.

Okay, I'm developing a serious dislike for Chef Mehta. I can't believe they didn't call him out on his cheating. Turning down your opponent's burner? If you have to resort to low-level garbage like that you don't belong in Kitchen Stadium, period. And he wonders why people see him as the villain?

I just seriously love how Alex jumps up and down when she wins a challenge!

Did you notice how Alton choked up when he told the judges, "And then there were eight?" And even Simon Majumdar looked a bit emotional -- weird for him. Last year I had heard that Jeffrey Steingarten would be on the panel with Simon. I'm kind of sorry it didn't happen that way. The Curmudgeon Factor would have been off the charts!

I'm going to have to try that -- I love just about any bean and sausage soup that isn't too fiery.

I cracked up at Alton's description of his one attempt: "The one time I tried to saber a bottle, I ended up throwing the knife across the room." The same thing would probably happen to me, but I'd likely injure someone.

So we see it at the same time in each of our respective time zones. I am not a fan of wasting wine and don't pop the cork either for that really reason. I had a nice white bean and turkey sausage soup from the Silver Palette Cookbook with some good bread and a nice dry chardonnay.

It airs at 9:00 here in California. I cracked the bubbly at 8:30.

I'm seriously proud of my champagne opening skills! I never have a flying cork or any spillage. I admit sabering the bottle looks majorly cool, but it wastes too much wine for me.

I so agree with you. In the main challenge he makes a very simple salad when there are all kinds in interesting things he could have done. How about a Portuguese kale and sausage soup? Then he makes himself a steak and has a shot, a big one. How rude is that. In the cooking the secret ingredient the trick with the fried kale was total insubordination and disrespect. All he kept talking about was all the restaurants he had. Who cares?

I must admit that I missed the dropping of her married name.

Alex nailed it and she deserved to win. I think her experience as a sous chef for Jeffrey on Iron Chef has also made her better prepared.

I notice Donatella has dropped "Stewart" from her name. I wonder if she and her husband have split up?

Did anybody else want to kick Tim Love's (donkey) for him? I couldn't believe the disrespect he showed both the judges and his fellow competitors. You could have skipped the second challenge and chucked him right out the door for me. I noticed I wasn't the only one ticked off. While Alton stayed as polite and classy as always, I don't think I imagined that he was furious. As little as I like Spike Mendelsohn, I was glad he won the Secret Ingredient Challenge. (I notice that they referred to the others as Chef [last name], but they referred to him as Chef Spike. Wonder what that's about?).

I was so proud of my girl Alex, showing that lobster who was in charge!

I'm surprised. I really thought Chef Wong would take it. Bring on the TV competition!

I couldn't believe Duskey Estes asked Alton to open the coconut for her! I'm not sure if she was serious or joking. As I recall, she was eliminated originally because she decided she knew better than the judges and wouldn't budge. I wonder if she's learned any better -- or if she has a chance in Hades of getting past Chef Wong next week.

I'm right down the middle between Amanda and Alex. This is going to be great!

True that. Do you remember Cowan's first Chopped opponent, Lance Nitahara? I would LOVE to see him have his own show as well.

Again, I have the good feeling that for a few of these chefs what we're watching is auditions for there own show on either FN, CookingChannel, or one of FN's web series'. Cowan definetly deserves his own show. Wong has paid her dues by being a commentator and guest on several CCTV shows.

Jose Garces does not strike me as the type of person to bear a grudge over that.

Jose Garces is judging the web competition. If he's the type to bear a grudge, Madison Cowan may be in trouble, since he absolutely pasted Garces on ICA earlier this year.

All four of them have a great history with either Iron Chef or Top Chef. And two of them are frequent faces on Cooking Channel's 'Unique Eats".

I have a confession to make. Even before I developed a raging crush on him, I always seriously loved the photo of Alton in the opening titles, with squared shoulders and proud smile. Now that I'm crushing on him, that photo almost makes me dizzy.

Yes, that's right. The winner of the web competition gets a slot in the televised competition. Madison Cowan is one of the competitors here, so I'm especially interested.
