I was surprised Kelly won too, based on the feed-back. A steak seemed pretty dull, after all. But I liked both of them, and they are both winners with the food knowledge they have gained.
I hope they bring Bobby back too. He's fun to watch.
I see that Next Food Network Star begins (I think) on May 19th.

I was also expecting them to say Vinnie based upon their comments, but I get fooled on chopped sometimes as well. I think the cauliflower with the poached egg might have been the deciding factor. It was definitely different. As for water in the pan. I have taken the pan of water to the oven and then gently put the ramekins into the pan, It's hard to pour the hot water into the pan with the ramekins in without having some splash up. Also I usually only put the water half way up the sides. Vinnie's dishes were not very deep so that could also make it more difficult. So now my question is, do they bring in another man in since Anne's team won? I actually enjoyed Anne and Bobby and I hope Bobby comes back.

I couldn't believe that Vinnie didn't win either. It's like they wanted us to believe he was going to win by all the compliments. Oh well.

I'm not a chef but I was thinking the same thing Mary. I can't see any reason the water couldn't have been poured in after!

I wonder how Chef Anne will get her head through the door now. Honestly, her trash talking got to be a bit much. I'm glad Bobby took the high road.

I was a bit surprised Kelly won, since she got more negative feedback than Vinnie did (they both got dings for their entrees and desserts, but she got criticism for her appetizer and he didn't). I'm disappointed because I wanted him to win, but I'm happy for her.

One thing I wondered about, and maybe the chefs here can enlighten me: given how temperamental creme brulee is about the water in the pan, wouldn't it be easier to carry the pan to the oven, put in the ramekins, and THEN pour in the water? Just sayin'...

After what happened to Robert Irvine last year, I'm SO glad she didn't make Bobby do anything to that gorgeous hair!

I did not see that. I had the unfortunate situation of not living in an area that got Food Network until very late. So my crush is on Marcus Samuelson.

I had a small crush on him years and years ago. Do you remember the show (I think only one season) where he was a judge on a show competition where contestants competed to be the winner in a Bed and Breakfast contest? I liked that show. I'm not sure why they canceled it.

On the judging panel for the final, I recognize Marcus Samuelsson (Chopped junkie here) and Susan Feniger, but I don't recognize the third one.

I agree with the outcome too. Vinnie's food apparently tastes better than Melissa's. ( I hadn't noticed her fork tapping habit, but agree that is gross. )
Kelly seemed like the obvious choice on Anne's team. David is klutzy, and doesn't take suggestions well! (even though he seemed nice)
It should be a good show-down next week!

I expected Anne's choice. As sweet as David was,he just didn't seem to be able to keep it together, and the failing to use sausage to stuff the pork chops did not go over well. I also think Bobby made the right decision. Melissa just seemed to get flustered more easily, and then not recover so well.

Totally agree with Anne's choice. It could have gone either way with Bobby, but I think the raw chicken incident was what finished Melissa.

I loved what she said about how her fiance had a bigger crush on Bobby than she did. Did you notice the sidelong glances he kept giving Bobby? Hilarious!

emoticon I think they need to put a Mr. Yuck sticker on Melissa's head. Then maybe she will stop tasting & then tapping her fork over the bowl afterwards. Yuck! What is she tapping back in to the bowl? She did that on both challenges. I hope Vinnie wins but the preview didn't look to promising. It would be odd if the two that traded teams ended up at the finish. We will see. emoticon

I'm disappointed. The TV listings said that the recruits would be cooking for the chefs' families. I've seen Bobby's daughter -- she's politely spoken, but she leaves VERY little doubt what she thinks. I was looking forward to what she had to say.

I'm actually sorry to see Dorothy go, but I'm really surprised she lasted as long as she has. I'm not surprised Bobby sent Tiffany home. I think she tried to get by on her looks instead of learning anything.

I agree on his not deserving that quip. I lived in the south for quite awhile. It would have been considered rude if my children addressed any older person anything but ma'am or sir.

You know, I was disappointed in Chef Anne this week. David was raised that it's polite to address a woman as ma'am. She shouldn't have snapped at him for showing her courtesy the way he was taught.

I suspect Madame Poker Player will be Bobby's next cut. On the preview of next week he asks, "How am I supposed to eat this?"

Her gracious reply? "Like a man." Bobby doesn't strike me as the type to tolerate that sort of rudeness for very long (neither does Anne, for that matter).

I had never thought about the cook along and will start thinking that way. I did think if i was doing the potato thing I would try somethink like some cream cheese, diced smoked salmon and a bit of horseradish and chopped scallions. I make a pizza appetizer similar so that's what made me think of it.

I liked Benjamin too, sad to see him go. At least these guys have learned many skills by now, to use in their real lives. Tiffany is definitely my least favorite. She seems to have an overinflated ego, which I find to be obnoxious...so I hope she is the next to get the boot. It's too bad that Vinnie and Melissa are on the same team! AARGH, it would be nice to have them as the final 2.
I'm not a big fan of vanilla chicken Dorothy, but she DID win the challenge, so maybe she's learning !
No, I don't cook along, but that sounds like a fun idea.

Was anyone other than me surprised that Dorothy ended up with the best dish this week. Let's see if she can keep it up. I was sorry to hear Benjamin say he needed to go home and his heart just wasn't in the competition. As for Tiffany, she needs to worry less about Melissa and more about what she is doing.

Bummer -- Benjamin was my pick to win! But he's absolutely right -- if his heart's not in it, he needs to be home with his family, and serious props to him for saying so even if it meant forfeiting the prize. So now I'm between Vinnie and Melissa. Tiffany, pull your claws in. Cook as well as Melissa and maybe you'll get the same recognition.

Let's see -- my potato skins would have been stuffed with mash with Cashel blue cheese and leeks sauteed with Irish back bacon. Cashel blue is milder than French or American blue cheese, and it's my favorite of all the blue cheeses (Cashel is a town in County Kerry. If Irish back bacon isn't available, ham or Canadian bacon substitutes just fine.)

Is anyone else playing along with the challenges? Last week I thought that I'd make breakfast nachos with eggs scrambled with onions and chopped fine, diced bacon and a cheddar sauce. If I had the fries, I'd make a tomato sauce with Italian sausage, mushrooms and mozzarella to make "pizza" fries.

For teh date night dinner, my side dish with the squab (H***l yes, my date's with Bobby!) would have been sweet-potato and apple mash with cream, cinnamon and brown sugar.

I can't wait to see what they do for the St. Patrick's Day party. Please, folks, no green beer!

I'm kind of questioning Chef Anne's judgment. Twice now she's cut others over Dorothy when, IMHO, Dorothy had the worst dish.

I'd rather be on Bobby's team for a lot of reasons!

Benjamin has been one of my favorites from the start. He has really improved. Right now I think I'm between him and Vinnie.

I loved when David asked Chef Anne for a kiss!

I'm so happy Sarina finally got the boot. I don't mind cuteness and we all have asked dumb questions but I really think there was something wrong with her! Now the show will get better.

I like Vinnie, Kelli and even Benjamin.

I would rather have been on Bobby's team last night. At least he served wine instead of water, LOL! emoticon

Last week I was really surprised when Chef Anne cut Bob instead of Dorothy after yet another vanilla chicken incident.

emoticon I cant believe the two I wanted to go are gone. That never happens. emoticon There voices were just like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. I think that David needs to step it up or go home. He may have won but he keeps cheating on the challenges. He isn't coming up with his own ideas. I think he even took the zucchini idea from Kelli. Tiffany seemed to do good when she tried to copy her mothers recipe. Who she said was a chef. After that she has been going down hill. So she better hope she can remember some more of her mothers recipes or she may go. I still can't figure out Dorothy. I thought she was doing good & then she went back to her old ways???? emoticon

I love watching Bobby's reaction when his team members make comments like "you mean there is more than one type of sausage." He kind of quietly swallows a laugh, but is not at all abrasive with them. I agree on Vinnie. He is likeable and pretty good as well. Nest week should be fun.

But he was Chef Anne's challenge winner this week. It'll be interesting to see if he can keep that level or not.

I was glad to see Sarina go....she was lacking skills in a big way. Bennett too. A blue team member I'd like to see do well is Melissa. Her story with disordered eating (anorexcia...oh where's my dictionary) and bulimia, struck a chord with me since I'm a binge eater.
I hope that Dorothy is the next to go. Not only did she use vanilla twice in her chicken, but she made the same vegetables for Ann that "earned" her a nomination to the show by her husband? Also the blond guy who keeps dropping his food on the floor; I don't think he'd cut it in the end competition....unless they make a special allowance for eating off the floor!
This show shows another side to Bobby Flay. I was "neutral" feeling about him before, but think that he is fun to watch and nice to his crew. A big improvement in the cast of this show!

I loved Bobby's dinner with Vinnie. That was just so sweet about his wife -- I was glad Vinnie was the challenge winner, even if he didn't cook his side dish. And I was happy to hear she's healthy again.

I'm so glad Sarina is gone. She just annoyed the poop out of me, and I thought she was really stupid IDid you notice Bobby look like he was praying when she said "you mean there are different types of sausage?" Prayer is probably a good idea where her food is concerned. But I clearly heard his voice break a little when he told her she was cut.

I've had so many people tell me I "shouldn't" like Bobby because he's allegedly cold and arrogant. Absolutely everything I've heard about him from people who have actually MET him tell me he's actually warm and sweet, and I've never seen anything about him that makes me believe otherwise. (Okay, off the soapbox now.)

I never did figure out if I liked Bennett or not, but his cooking skills really didn't improve enough, and Anne was right to cut him. I thought he was funny but he talked WAY too much. I was happy to see David improve as much as he did.

Oh, can't wait to see the St. Patrick's Day party next week.

I was sad about Erica too. Vinnie is constantly trying to help Sabrina. I really think she should have gone. Erica did seem to be a danger this week though. Maybe Bobby was afraid she would get hurt. Too bad Bennett did good. I was hoping he would be going. I think if he didn't talk so much it would be nice. I think Anne sent the wrong one home too. But what do I know. She has won twice now. She must know what she's doing. emoticon

I too was sad to see Erica go. She was funny ("too-foo")---wish Sarina ad gotten the boot. She seems utterly clueless, like Rachel last week. And agree with the vanilla chicken lady...she is not listening AT ALL.
I still like Vinnie the most. He's my early pick to be a winner!

I also enjoyed Erica. Oh well. Now we know where the dance originated, it was to make the pizza dough rise. I watched tonight as I watched the Academy Awards last night. Looking forward to next week. So Bobby won the right to switch last night.

I was surprised Anne cut Bob over Dorothy. I thought the second go-round of vanilla chicken would be the end for her. I would have agreed with either being cut on Bobby's team, but I hoped he'd cut Sarina. She annoys me, and I thought Erica was funny.

Given next week's theme, it's probably just as well I'm not a contestant this year!

Hmmm...so if Bobby wins this year we could, for instance, have him vs. Alex Guarnaschelli next year? I'd love that!

And I seriously hope he hasn't/doesn't quit Throwdown.

I wonder if Ann loses if he then will take on another chef.

I agree about Sherrill. She was too rude. Loved Bobby's comment about it being like a circus when Erica is in the kitchen.
Agree about Rachel too. She really might have been the WORST cook.
I like Vinnie; he's doing well and seems like a nice fellow.
I really learn alot watching the show. I'm inspired to do meatballs tonight, and will crush garlic the way they showed.

I agree that so far no one has really jumped out at me to root for as in the past two seasons, but Richard and Sherrill are gone so the show has got to get better right? I couldn't believe Sherrill who clearly thought she could cook. So what show did she think she was on - Next Food NetworkStar? Did she not realize she was a contestant on WORST cooks in America? I'm so glad she's gone, I can't tell you. And I never like rude contestants on any of the reality shows that I watch. You start sassing the judges or the host, and I'm through with you. Not cute.

I am learning to cook from scratch, but I see boxed noodles in my future for many years to come because I don't believe I could ever make my own noodles! But what a fun process, right?

The noodles were wild. I am way too clumsy to do that. I really enjoyed the toofu that wouldn't melt. As for Sherrill I'm not sure why she even came on the show. She seemed to think she knew everything about cooking. I've been wondering about the dance as well.

Is anybody else dying to know what that dance number is about?

Quite a lot of improvement this week. But I'm not surprised Chef Anne cut Rachel. She was just clueless. And I am glad Bobby cut Sherrill. I got tired of her attitude that there was nothing wrong with her cooking when there so clearly was.

Erica is a crack-up! I don't think she's going to win, but she is so enjoyable to watch.

I agree, emoticon to Richard getting the boot. He seemed very annoying....to say the least.

emoticon I'm glad Richard went. These shows like to hang on to the most irritating ones usually. But, when he spoke to Ann that way you knew he was out. It wasn't hard to see why his girlfriend wouldn't want to marry him. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I actually enjoy it more after a couple of weeks. By then people seem to click or are totally out to lunch. There sure were a bunch of nasty looking eggs.

My in-laws left meat sitting out all day. They both had ongoing stomach issues which I don't doubt for a minute were foodborne illness.

I know it's all for entertainment's sake but why do they have to choose people who are so stupid (when it comes to cooking)? One woman didn't know what a can opener looked like, one didn't know how to use a pepper-mill, one didn't know that leaving meat out all day was bad? Come on now! It's hard to believe that it's not all faked. How do they get to be adults and not know the basics?

When they choose these people how do they know they aren't faking not being able to cook?

So far I'm disappointed. It's not even funny...just frustrating! Last season at least it seemed "real". Hope it gets better.

So far none of them grabbed me the way Joshie did last year. So of course I'm rooting for Bobby's team.

I agreed with both of the cuts, particularly Richard. He just seemed to think the whole thing was a big joke. And ladies -- when you know you're going to be asked to cook, DO NOT wear sparkly clothes, okay?

I kind of hope some of that $25,000 went toward a ring for that adorable girlfriend of his!

I watched the finale of last years series last night, and it was fun to see Joshie again. I wish they would follow up a year later and let us know how the winner is doing. Actually I'd love to see the final two interviewed.

Lord, I can't wait for tonight! Yesterday I watched the marathon of last year's, and it was so much fun. Great seeing Joshie again -- he's so adorable.

This is going to be GREAT!
