Uninamous! We've all been there ......... done that ......... Last week I completely 'lost it' ........... at a company party ............... and after I got thru beating myself over the head with a frozen carrot I said this: "OK FINE ............. YOU BINGED!! So ........... HERE IS THE NEW RULE ........... you get ONE per year and no more" ............ and went on, and back to tracking ........... so lets' all hug and go on ................. emoticon emoticon

Oh well, what is done is done. You have confessed, hopefully tracked and have learned a lesson. Get back on track and don't beat yourself up. That does not good, you can't undo it. All it serves is to make yourself feel bad which makes me, I don't know about you want to comfort myself with food. I applaud you for telling the team.

I love SparkPeople

Glad you're feeling better about it. One of the best things about being on here is that you realise you are not the only one to slip and slide along the way. Everyone else does it too.

That vicious circle of eating the wrong thing/too much and feeling guilty then comfort eating because of the guilt. Mad but human!

Things I have learnt on Spark :-

give up the guilt - it is toxic and hampers weight loss

accept that I can never be good all the time but at least 80% of the time is okay

eat slowly - give your stomach a chance to feel full before you eat too much

eat consciously - only when you are hungry and treats only if you are still enjoying it

shop consciously - think as much about what goes in the trolley as what goes in the mouth. If you don't buy it you can't eat it. Buy the healthiest version of what you like not what you think you should eat on a diet.

plan in treats - small and regular and tracked helps beat cravings

Very best of luck and determination to you x

Thank you all so very much. I was feeling so low and miserable when I wrote that post. Your replies, all of them, brought me back to sanity. You have given me great ideas, tips, and things to think about. You have stopped me feeling sorry for myself, set me straight again. But most of all you have shown that you care. I have a lump in my throat as I write this, -you are all strangers to me, but yet I feel so close to you. Thats what caring does, I guess. Thanks, guys.

@ Clearstream, We all have that T. Shirt Lol. Try and learn from it. What mood where you in. what room, were you watching t.v. or doing something else like reading a book?

It has been proven that if something else is going on we tend not to be in tune with what we are eating. We tend to over eat, it really is making changes to what you eat as well as were you eat.

Try and make a rule with yourself that you will not eat in any other place than your kitchen table. Get a lovely place mat and a napkin make it a nice place to have something. Plan, sit, have a glass of water, even fill up a wine glass with water and ice. Lite a candle and enjoy what you are eating.

Don't be hard on yourself, treat yourself like you would a best friend, if she told you that she had ate that chocolate what would you say to her. Funny how we can be kind to someone else and not ourselves.

You have lost 23 lbs. so you must be doing something right. Ok, you didn't make the best choice with the mints. Don't dwell on what went wrong, focus on all the positives that have gotten you this far. The most important thing is what you do next. After a slip-up, make the next thing a healthy choice. Eat something nutritious, go for a walk.... just start heading back in the right direction. emoticon emoticon emoticon

My trigger is sour cream and onion Pringles. I can eat a whole can. So I don't keep them in the house, and I stay far from the chips isle when I go to Wawa.

been and done that and you just pick yourself up and start again. I usually do things like that when I have the temptations around. So I have made a conscious decision not to have my trigger foods around. Good luck.

We all do this at some point. That is why I don't keep "treats" in the house, I can't have control all the time and if they are there during a "moment". Well, I eat them. I also have times when I sleep eat, but usually only when there is something "good" in the house. I don't sleep eat veggies. :(

Acknowledge it happened, track it and move on. Lesson learned and if you document it, you can hold yourself accountable. That's how I do it.

On the other hand, you will be more determined to continue your quest for health and succeed.

Been there, done that - too many times to count - LOL.

At least you know the damage, and you accounted for it. Just get back on track. And keep those mints out of the house - or at least in the freezer under the package of unknown leftovers!

I did what you just did a couple of days ago.

My husband made a rude remark to me about burning calories by walking around the couch and dusting as I go........ anyway..... I had just lost 3.5 lbs that day when I got weighed ..... I was so mad I ate a whole chocolate bar. I had purchased the bar with the intent of treating myself with bits of it as it had little squares you could break off ... but instead I ate the whole thing.

Then ... I thought, well I'll have to burn all those calories off that I ate. Do you know how long that takes ?? Well now I'll think twice when I'm about to sabotage myself by having a treat. I think I'll leave chocolate out of my house for a while.

So pick yourself up and do some exercise to start burning those calories....... emoticon

I have just polished off NINE (9) After Eight Mints, 93 calories each, so thats 837 calories totally unplanned for, unwanted, unnecessary, unfulfilling, unhealthy and unbelievably stupid of me. One, fine, two...maybe, three is the limit, but NINE?? And you know what? I didn't even really enjoy them because after the third one I felt so bad about keeping on eating them that I hardly tasted them any more. I dunno. Sigh.
