Miller--I just got to the email today. Computer issues. I am glad that the sleep study went well. I hope the news is good. Great job going 3 days without chocolate and then limiting it when you did have it. I am so proud of you.

Hi everyone and thanks a million for all the support! Just wanted to give you an update. Things are better today. My daughter had her sleep study last night and they were able to get almost 7 hours of data on her sleep patterns. That's great news because I was so afraid she wouldn't be able to get to sleep and stay asleep since that is often the case. It's also a good sign that they didn't have to put a Cpap mask on her during the night - I'm taking that as a sign that she doesn't have sleep apnea. We should know the results in 7 to 10 days. Her mood is also better and she's not depressed like she was on Sunday.
I'm doing much better, too. I made it through the 3rd day of the challenge with great support from fellow Sparkers, like you all - I truly am grateful for the support! I did have some chocolate the day after, but I didn't go over-board. I ate regular meals and had some Dove chocolates for dessert. It's a good thing common sense prevailed since chocolate for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks would really have made me so sick!! LOL!!
Thanks again for your support and concern.

Sorry to hear about your mother and daughter. I can not have chocolate in the house at all. I have absolutely no will power. I will eat the whole bag/box. So I have learned to buy it one bar at a time. I am learning to substitute my urges with healthy snacks, like celery with a little bit of peanut butter and a couple of raisins.
I hope every thing gets better for you. Sending hugs and prayers your way.
Congrats on 3 days without chocolate

I'm sorry to hear of the problems you are having to cope with and so much stress makes it so much harder to keep to the healthy eating. Well done you for sticking to 3 days without chocolate.
I love chocolate too and have always used it as a comfort food. I have switched to mini bars of 85% cocoa solids dark chocolate. I actually prefer milk or white but find that I get my chocolate fix from just a few squares of the dark without being tempted to keep going back for more. Also chocolate philadephia is delicious and can be spread or melted as a dip for fruit or to drizzle over something. And I would agree that a hot chocolate drink is satisfying because you can sip it and inhale the smell of it too.

My prayers are with you and your family! Eat that chocolate in moderation because you don't want the guilt of eating too much chocolate bringing you down on top of everything else. Instead, eat 2 pieces and put it away! Then pat yourself on the back for not going overboard!
Here's a smile and some sunshine to brighten your way!!
Finish what you started! Don't give up!

Interesting thought - stuffing on chocolate - but my first thought is - won't you be ill?? At the very least you will have indigestion - and then suffer for a day or so - won't that make things worse?? As EVERHOPEFUL says - MODERATION - and balance the chocolate with healthy foods - Set yourself a limit - maybe 8 squares - divide that amount up into several lots during the day - so after each meal as a reward for having had a healthy meal you know you have a little (the key word here being LITTLE) chocolate to look forward to - to eat really slowly and savour fully. By the way - I hope its 70% dark chocolate - or may7be a drink of cocoa - you are having - then you can also think that that LITTLE bit of chocolate after the meal is actually doing you good - giving antioxidants to your body. Too much would not have the same effect. Tell you what - you do that for me - and tell me that you successfully limited your chocolate - and there is a Spark Goodie coming your way!!
Having said all that I am actually really proud of you - proud that you got through 3 days successfully - just before you start tomorrow - please do 1 thing for me - sit quietly - and think - now tell me that although you may have missed the chocolate - you are really proud that you managed to get through those 3 days - and that is a great feeling - being proud of yourself. Hold that thought - know that you could do it again if you ever decided to - but also know that there are a lot more things that can make you proud of YOU !! They may be little or big but they are things that are important to you - and they make you feel good about YOU!!
All great ideas to enjoy chocolate without going overboard. I'm still going to go without the rest of tonight so I can complete the 3 day challenge I committed to, but tomorrow I will try some of your suggestions. I didn't even know they make chocolate scented candles - I need to get one! And that hot cup of cocoa sounds wonderful. Thanks for the suggestions!

Probably going to eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks tomorrow. Didn't have it today - wanted it SOOOOOOO BADLY!!!! but I wanted to keep my promise not to have it for 3 days. My daughter was talking about suicide, but she feels better now. With my mental problems, her mental problems, my mother's dementia, and half my family not speaking, I just don't know what to do sometimes without chocolate. I'm praying that God will help us through my daughter's undiagnosed illness and she'll be able to return to college in January. She's having a sleep study done Monday night - sure hope we get some answers.
