I walked for an hour today. I had to get wool for my next knitting assignment.

So the gals in my knitting group said I had to get four more balls of yarn besides my two I had bought first.
Plus was seniors day and you get 15 % off regular price which was 5.29 a ball.

Well what does that en-tale me walking back again to the store. So I sure had my exercises.

Then I got back and dash it. I needed the round needles to knit with. What was I thinking. . Then a lady said to me. Oh Carolann

Come over to my apt and let me see if I can lend you some knitting needles. Oh she had two. I neede the needles that had the wire shaped round. I am going to knit a baby blanket. Pastel green and yellow. Baby wool. Oh Thank you Lord. I am so tired. Then her hubby noticed me having a wee bit of problem getting up out of the chair. He said did I suffer with Osteoarthritis. I said Yes. He said he had Rheumatoid arthritis. So we talked about are oh's and whoo's. He said the Dr told him he had to lose at least 40 pounds. He has now loss..

He too must walk and he has. His wife had both knees done and her pain went in her knees alright but the stiffness she is left with from her operation.

Their son had died with Lou Gehrig's disease . Lou Gehrig's disease. And so young he was.

I guess I wont be complaining too much aye. He said he started to have all his legs go week and the he developed a cough then a breathing problem. Then it just progressed worse and he died.

So this is my day.

I see you all have a football team you enjoyed . So I hope your team wins but also if they lose it is not the end of the world is it.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

Please get going on being healthy. It is a wise statement you made and explained about your family and dad dying. My husbands side his brothers had bypass's so many times. My hubbies young sister died
of 62. She smoked and so forth. We buried her three weeks ago .

You have the Lord you say Amen. Yes he will give you the strength.

I just found out yesterday the house near our apt where I live. A lady is addicted to food and still is.

She weighs 600 pounds. Has never come out of her house and her hubby apparently brings her
food from outside to feed her habit. He is slowly killing her and not knowing he is I guess but I suspect even though she is that size she is demanding as it is an addiction and she is thriving for it. He is a wee skinny man people say that know him.

I am sure when she pass's the ambulance men will have to cut out the side of her house to get her out.

Apparently she started yo,yo dieting and it elevated and she is now obsessive. Beyond helping.

I know 7 pounds or even 10 pounds can go so fast upon us.. I am 74 years old and It seems I get to my goal and then
I go up in weight. Now I have bad osteoarthritis and a sciatic leg.. So I will pray you are serious about what you write.

Having a family with what you write you have to be strong and start the healthy life for you. emoticon

My dad died at 64 with diabetes and heart disease, my mom at 78, same conditions...will be 3 years this month. I had a mild heart attack in June of 2014 so have carried all the genes and predisposition to such things forward.....BUT......yes! These things can be managed and effects reduced with proper care. I just haven't done that for myself yet but am ready to.

My Mom had a couple of stokes prior to her heart attack that required a quad bypass. I got away with a couple of stents. While I got great care there, I don't want to go back.

My activity levels have fallen off with the discovery of Candy Crush. Confession in good for the soul, right? So...I am ready to apply the brakes, get off my hiney and do what I can until I can do more. I am thankful for each day I'm given and need to do more with all the "Me" time I have. I have a great job, am blessed abundantly and can put more effort into taking care of me than I have to date.

Have a blessed weekend all..........be gentle and loving with yourselves! I will do that at my spot as well emoticon

Had a full active day just being involved in the Apt building. Also joined the knitting group for first time.

Wow what talented gals. There was like 13 sitting at a long table in coman area.

I have now done two dish cloths. My starting task. One experience lady sitting beside me. Gave me longer needles with the ends having a piece of plastic built in so my stitches don't keep coming off ends. My original needles were too small she said.

I am doing knit purl now. Running into a problem as my beginning stitch is so stretched. Not holding my thread tension tight enough with doing the stitch. A learning procedure. Learning the tension thread while working with it. I was great doing just plain knit the tension. The gals told me they had same thing learning
and even dropped stitches making holes.

Now the gals are making baby hats, hats for themselves. Awesome stylish scarves turquoise and greens together. Pinks and burgundy together. Wow the colors are beautiful. Then sculpting on bottom or sides of scarfs are so professionally done.

. My gosh. Hope for me yet. If I can catch on.

After that class was over. I had to go to a farewell party at 3 for a sweet lady who is moving into
part of the hospital so she gets more help. She is 93 but she always looks so beautiful dressed and her hair the white wavy beautiful head of thick hair still blessed with at her age.

Her speech is perfect just having hard time cooking and doing other necessary things. So she has been here for many, many years.

So it was a sad occasion but happy too. We can visit her and she can visit us. A lot of people drive so they can pick her up and have her visit here anytime.

Then I had company drop in . So my day was busy.

I had a restless night with my legs and back. I had some arthritic cream so I applied that and I slept till over 8 this morning.

Dr phoned yesterday and left a message. To say I need to have a wee examination as I am having a cataract removed in May. I have papers to bring for pre-opt. So she will fill in all my required papers needed. I guess take my blood pressure what is required for the clinic where I see the eye Specialist who is going to do my cataract.

So that was my full day. What a day. Aches and pains. I had a neck that was sort of stiff with doing the knitting. Ha-ha.

So I have just prayed before I close for the ladies who are having pain.

I had my annual physical today. Told my doc about all my aches and pains. She had x-rays done of my left shoulder and knee, right hip and ankle. I'll probably glow in the dark tonight! emoticon
Going to see orthopedics for my shoulder, which I injured lifting a suitcase Thanksgiving weekend, and my knee, which is swollen. Insurance makes you get an x-ray of the shoulder which only shows no broken bones (because it's cheap) before they will approve imaging that will show anything with the rotator cuff tendons and stuff that are involved. The knee x-ray showed fluid around the knee apparently.

Bren, my mother was diagnosed with diabetes when her glucose was around 300 and she felt terrible... exhausted and sick. I would imagine you must feel better now as your number is getting better, do you?
Thanks for the wish for those in pain.

Be well, all.

My Doctor's appointment went well. She gave me a reprieve for labs...I can do it when I go back in 8 weeks. She wants my FBS average at 100. It's currently 163 and started at 296 in September when I first saw her. I keep 8 week charts and she wants me to continue doing that.

I was wiped out and didn't accomplish much at home on my off days so will aim for 15-30 minutes day of restoring order, while I work on my other goals. I did some cleaning before work this morning and that's a start.

Blessings to all....praying for relief for those who are in pain today.

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Just checking in - am doing well.
I have set my goals for February and am looking forward to having great success as I did in January. Of course I know that I am going to have put more effort into it this month as each time we lose 10 or more pounds it gets harder to do the same.

But I am determined - I am taking it one month at a time but I also have a 3 month goal in mind - and I am just about at that goal now and it is only the 2nd month.
Am working on increasing my walking - total minutes each day - I have difficulty getting in a lot of minutes walked due to back problems but I surpassed 5 minutes per day last month so this month I am working on between 10 - 15 minutes each day - so far so good

I have discovered the following works wonder. Each hour I have to get up and walk the length of our home 3 times and working on 4 times before I sit down again. Now I know that doesn't seem like a lot but with pain it is. Doing that every hour adds up the minutes walked. And I am working now on the 1/2 hour getting up and doing 1 - 2 laps in the house so I should make my daily goal reasonably easy.

Have a good day everyone

Had a great work out the other day but wow the next day. I had to use my cane. My knees and back killed.

We have had damp weather on and off today it is rain and ice from left over of the snow we had. The sand trucks in the parking lot here and on the side roads and the main roads. Dangerous to go out. Is written on our entrance for the elderly from Staff.

The good days I went to grocery store and I walked in two grocery stores isles up and down while hubby picked the groceries on our list, and then over to bargain place for cards and home after two hours or more.
I was tired. The one isle in the Independent grocery store has many isles and long.

Glad all on here I am reading having progress in their table top bikes. Yes I guess all have get used to your bodies using them but Debbie your losing. That is awesome!

Keep up the good work Debbie but don't go over board. I know we are all eager to get that buzz we get knowing we finally have that get up and go but then it makes us beat. We will learn the hard way. I am not losing as I have colitis. So ones weight is up and down. Bummer.

Good for you, Debbie. Glad the tabletop bike is working out for you. Beside the calorie burn while you are using the bike, you will be building muscle by doing it, and muscle burns more calories 24/7.

55* here right now with a high around 70* this evening. Cold front is trying to work its way into the area so rain is following right along with it. We are suppose to be back into the 50's for a high on Wednesday.....

I am so pleased with my little table top stationary bike.
I worked out for 12 minutes with it on the floor, peddling away with my feet. I actually over did my first day in speed and today I plan to slow it down and try to last a little longer. I completed 10 minutes with my arms while I watched TV. Again I over stretched myself in my eagerness to accomplish something, anything, for the first time in a very LONG time.
My body was telling me (STOP IT you crazy lady!) and today will be a lesson in patience and strategy. emoticon

Coach Beth researched the calorie burn on the arm cycle and it is averaging about 5-6 calories per minute depending on the intensity of your peddling. There is no confirmation that is 100% but that's about as close as can be figured at this time. I would be glad if they could do the estimation and add it to exercise lists with regular stationary bikes....

Good morning all and welcome to February!

Wishing you all a blessed and productive week ahead. Didn't we have a great weekend, Lynn? I've seen daffodils in bloom and robins in the yard mid-February so I hope for another early spring. We are supposed to have 78 for a high today...yeehaw!

I have a Dr.'s appt. Wednesday with lab work, to see how my A1C is after two months on the Actos. I have lows...real lows...for the first time in years. My goal is to come off some meds. I take a boatload currently and I want to get as healthy as I can for the remainder of my days.....I am 63 and have fooled around much too long. I'll get my Dr.'s input and direction...and get ready to be real!

I need to "get ready" for work right now...so better zip on out of here!

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Hello all! I'll just hop on in here, as the invitation says to Beth's diary...

It's a beautiful, warm, sunny day here in the middle of Texas. I am at work but since I can't post payments until Monday, the 1st, I'm doing putter and personal things...like cleaning house at SP etc. I have a desk full of paperwork in there and that will be my next task to tackle.

I love the pics of your new tools! I have a digital scale at home, lovely measuring cups etc. and my Cardio Glide machine now. I had to bring my mini-trampoline back to storage to free up my corner for it. It's a great machine and helps my shoulder, weak arms and legs...when I use it! I am inspired to get on the wagon and roll on down the road now!

I'm going to do some work related things for awhile but will be back to visit. Have a wonderful weekend!

In all things, I will acknowledge Christ, my Savior and strength of my life.

Janis answered my questions about your machine top table Debbie. I never knew such equipment was available. How wonderful is that.

You will be able to get your exercising that you wanted Debbie.. You will have to update us as you come along. Your weight is excellent. You must be so proud. I am for you.

I am doing well today from the other day. exercising myself. I am getting in two exercising twice a day.

10 movements of each I am told by physiotherapist had instructed for me. . And walking in hall or in my apt. I am able to walk from my night sleep to the other rooms in morning not using a cane and standing up much straighter.

Perhaps your friend can receive calls from you Cover girl if you have a telephone plan.

Send a nice card in mail. Thinking of you and a personal note from you if she is your friend. I am sure when she feels better to read it. It will have arrived seeing your so many miles away.

I will pray for your dear friend and for you through all this. That the Lord will help her in her needs.

Thank you for sharing. We can pray on this side of the world.

Do all the good you can for your friend
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,,
All the time you can,
As long as ever you can.

When I was in a rehab hospital after my knee replacement, they had me use an arm bicycle similar to yours, Debbie, on a table, to work out my upper body.

I have a food scale and use it about every day, probably most often to see just how many ounces of chicken, meat or fish I'm having. Yesterday I thought I might be slicing 1.5 oz. of cheese off the block, so I checked and it was 1.2 oz. I have used it once in a while to check how many grams my apple or clementines weigh, just to make sure I'm tracking accurately. ("These clementines couldn't be 80 calories!" "Oh yes they can.")

Doing it helps me to get better at eyeballing portions of meat or fish when I go out.

Mine has a function called "tare" which lets you put a dish or something on it then zero the weight. (I've found you can do the same thing by putting the dish on before turning it on.) So I sometimes put other things, e.g. plate, salad, dressing, hit TARE, then add my grilled chicken and see what it weighs; I could then hit TARE again and weigh the next thing I'm putting on, etc.

Or I can put the plate, taco holder, taco shells, hit TARE and weight the taco meat I'm adding into the shells.

Did your doctor okay it your equipment.? Where did you purchase those items what store.?

I have never know anything consists in a store to buy but I see a lot of different ones off the T.V..

Looks great but if one is having that much problems as you have to exercise.

There must be a right way vs a wrong way to use it?

Looks simple but my Phiso Therapist if I have anything different then he or she told me. .

She will explain the injuries I could have using them.

Like stiff neck, pulled muscle.

The food scale looks perfect sure better then weight watches ding thing they used to have. .

Your weight is good from what you were. Great!

Today's new battle gear for my healthy weight loss journey.....

The first 3 pictures are the table top sized exercise cycle that I can use on the table with my hands for my upper body workout and on the floor with my feet for my lower body workout.
The cost of this cycle was $28.00 but they had one a little cheaper around $20.00 or more complex at around $40.00

Something I should have had all along, my new food scale that cost me around $9.00

If you can afford the battle tools you need to fight the good fight....
Measuring spoons, measuring cups, a food scale, shoes, socks, and what ever you choose that works for your level of physical abilities. Your own equipment, the gym, your hallway, the floor beside the couch or bed, or the distance to the front or back porch outside. If your bedridden then lay there and just move your body parts.....

If you can't afford anything then make your own equipment..... cans of vegetables, bottles of water, gallon jugs of anything, fry pans, or just moving in place......

Whatever you choose to do or can do ..... JUST DO IT! emoticon ......

We have got this my friends! emoticon

Morning Sparkgals.

This weather bothers my body today too Debbie. I had planned to go to the exercise group this morning but I cannot. I had a very sleepless night with pain even though I took the Tylenol Specialist prescribed.

So I will rest up and take it easy.

My lower back is very painful also when I walk.

One day at a time.

I will do my bed exercises later afternoon so it wont completely stiffen up.

I pray we will spend time in our bibles daily . Prayer will strengthen and make desires fall in line with His. The Lords.

Thanks for the positive thoughts today, Beesparkle, Covegirl & Howard! Great stuff.

Lift up your hearts and learn to be thankful for all things.

To dwell on the bad days only makes it worse.

The Lord will give you strength . Trust and have faith.

An effort made for the happiness of others lifts above ourselves.

And you will be glad you did.
