Deb, Thanks for the lovely welcome. I will look forward to getting to know everyone here. Not sure how much time I'll have. I am team leader on another team so feel that must be my first priority, plus other teams I try to keep up with. :) But this one just looked like a "good fit". Funny, when I'd seen Indygirl's team name I thought it was for Indiana folks! LOL. The garden thing got me to check you out. :)

Hello everyone! Deb - just take it slow and easy. It will get done when it eats done. LOL! Gina- proud of you. Keep up the good work.
I got out at 6 am to get my walking in before the heat kicked in. I did 4.52 miles. It felt great.

Gini your awesome and I am behind you all the way!
Deb. You have a huge job at hand. I know when my son and his ex moved out 2 years ago, I had to do the same thing. We rearranged all the furniture back to where we wanted it and got back to our quiet life. Then disaster struck and he left his then-wife and came home. Total up heavle again. I think it is God's way of making me clean my house every few months. I am back at work on making myself smokefree and walking more. These are 2 areas of my life that I am not happy with. I hope to gain confidence at both and will sure need lots of support and encouragement. Thanks for being my teammates and friends.

Cyndi your making me tired! Can I take a nap FOR you today?!
I'm going to take my time cleaning and re-arranging the house after my daughter moved out. Every single room has to be cleaned and we have to go to storage to bring all our furniture back. We need to paint each room as well and do the floors but I plan to concentrate on the cleaning aspect at the moment. Wish I had your energy!
WooHoo! Already got mom 3.78 miles power walk in this morning, got clothes in the washing machine, and made me a healthy fruit and veggie smoothie. Gonna see what is happening on SP and then do some more cleaning. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Morning everyone! Debbie- you Can Do It. I had a good 4 mile walk/jog this morning and then went to the dentist. He took the filling out and found that the crack did not go all the way through the tooth so for now I just got a new filling. If it still bothers me I might have to have a root canal. I am hoping that it will not come to that. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I am drowning in the evenings and at night! I do so good all day and then I let it all slip away so very quickly. Then I promise myself it won't happen again. Ughhhhhhh.........
OK, so tonight I am changing tactics...... No promises of change, just curl up and sleep!
WooHoo! I got in a good 3.44 miles jog/walk this morning. This was the first time I exercised since my surgery. After cooling down I made a healthy smoothie. I used Kale, peach, strawberry, pineapple, and ground flaxseed. It was refreshing and yummy! I hope everyone is having a good week.

Hello Team. I am finally back among the living after a 3 day battle with a virus. Made for aching muscles, especially my back and a voracious appetite. Tried to keep that under control somewhat. I am feeling so powerful today and although it is raining I will get my walking in with WATP and will go as far as my legs and back will let me and then just a little more. HEhehehe. I have already tracked my nutrition for today. Tracking in the morning keeps me honest with my food as I don't want to have to make changes later. I am THAT lazy! I have physio exercises to do today and that will make up my fitness for the day. It feel good to be healthy again. Have a nice day all,
Gini

Hello everyone! I went to the doctor today for my 6 week post op. She gave me the ok to start exercising again. WooHoo! I am going to start out slow or at least I will try to but I usually over do it. LOL! I am going to go to Jazzersize a few times a week and do some of the Sparkpeople dvd's I have.

I got my copy of The Spark SOlution the other day and am nearly finished reading it. It is very inspiring and I plan to take action to make change starting MOnday May 13/13. I am waiting for MOnday as I will be out all day tomorrow in the car and will not have a good chance to eat completely healthy, although I am bringing food with me, and will not get in any exercise. I can wait another day to change what is not happening now into what is happening from NOW on.

Hello everyone and welcome to the team Edanfell. I am getting a late start on here today. I have been out and about with hubby helping do a few things for the Boy Scouts. This is my six week mark since my total abdominal hysterectomy. I am feeling pretty good but still get very tired during the day and have to take a nap. I will be going for my final checkup on Monday and hopefully get the go ahead to start doing aerobic exercise and running. Hope you all have a good Friday night.

Hi Everyone, I have been struggling to get off my 3 week plateau and today it finally happened! I lost a pound! I am now 10 pounds away from my goal of 145. I started this journey because my blood sugars were way too high and getting higher. I am trying to be the healthiest diabetic I can be. My blood pressure is lower and I feel so much better. Finding Spark People was one of the best things I could do for myself. It works because of all of your support!

Hi, Gini. Guess everyone's out enjoying the beautiful spring weather. Here in Manitoba Canada we're finally losing the snow - now to start losing some of the winter weight! Loved the blog/pics of the flying pig marathon, Beth. Looked like you were all having a great time.

I started the first day of week 4 Couch to 5K yesterday, the day after another run. I was expecting trouble that I didn't get. I can't say I exactly loved it, but I did kind of enjoy it, and I felt so proud of myself!
Spent the weekend juice fasting for breakfast and lunch, and then eating a dinner that emphasized protein. That worked out really well too.

Welcome, Stephanie! Sounds like you have a great plan for the family. They will appreciate it!! Beth, I saw some of the pics from the race and it sounded like a hoot!! Wish I could get to one of these some day!
I got back from Seattle....or more specifically Yakima....Friday night. It was a very long and taxing 2 weeks. My Dad is doing OK from the heart attack standpoint, but the leukemia is definitely kicking into high gear. His legs looked terrible when I left. We should know more today and next Monday at the latest on whether he will be able to keep his legs. I'm not sure he will want to live without them. He is tired and even more tired of taking meds that just cause more problems. So it's very difficult right now. Dad has always been my strong shoulder and it was hard to watch him suffer like this. Difficult time indeed.
My high point of the visit was going to get my Mom some new slippers and finding the exercise gear also on sale. I ended up with 4 pairs of shorts and capris in the next size smaller and they were almost too big!!! I didn't gain any weight this time up there either.....but that was probably because I was in charge of meals!! So they ate healthy despite their opposition to reason....LOL
Now on to getting back in the routine, cleaning up the husbands bachelor pad and getting some plants planted. Busy day ahead!
Which came first, the tornado or the travel trailer??

I woke early this morning to get my son off to his house-sitting gig, and it was snowing. It's still snowing as I write this. Good thing I didn't change over to summer tires last weekend! I went for my couch to 5K run when I got back home, and then straight off to the pool for lap swim. I'm 2 weeks away from my big triathlon, and over the depression. It felt wonderful out running with the snow falling all around!

WOW...Thank you all for such a warm welcome to the team I look forward to getting to know each of you. My whole family is eating healthier. My husband was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and put on meds, which he doesn't want to stay on forever. My kids aren't really heavy. My daughter who is 6 but as tall as an 8 year old is a few pounds over but my son who is 4 but as tall as a 5 to 6 year old is about 12 pounds over. I looked up today serving sizes for kids their age and was shocked and now know I have been giving them way to much. Made me feel guilty because I am always telling them to finish their food that it isn't much Starting today I measured out not just my food but theirs as well to make sure they are getting the proper sizes for their age. They aren't having as many snacks and when they do have one it is something healthy. I am stressing to them though that we are changing the way we eat because of wanting to be and stay healthy, I am not even mentioning weight loss to them.
Well you all have a great weekend, I think I rambled on enough.

New to the team here, Stephanie is the name. I am excited for the first time in my life about losing the weight. I have thought about what worked and didn't work in the past and am ready to do this once and for all. Beth you are an inspiration. I have tracked my food for I think it is 5 days now and getting what exercise in that I can. Trying to do all I can to just move. I look forward to getting to know everyone here. I rejoined Spark back in July of last year but wasn't active. I reset the time to lose my weight for May 1st 2015. I want to do it slow and steady making small changes along the way. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Have a great weekend.

We have rain mixed with snow here in Anchorage AK. I'm still going out for a run after work. No more excuses. It's coastal Alaska, and the weather is just the weather. If I'd wanted something different, I should have moved someplace warmer.

Hello everyone and Happy May Day! I just can't seem to get going today. I thought I slept well but I am sluggish and feel like I could go back to bed.
Hope you all have a good day

Hi everyone, I hope you all are doing well this week that is underway for all of us. The weather was so pretty here today, we reached high 70's. Meal planning today was satisfying and I am proud of the last 3 wks of a six pound weight loss, I feel I am on my way. I love that I am making healthier choices and instead of craving the typical junk food, I am finding more satisfaction in eating fruits and veggies as well as yogurt for my treat of choice. I know there will probably come a time when those desires will resurface but I hope I can think enough of myself and how far I have come that I will push past it. Only time will tell. But for today I am grateful for all of you and so happy to be here with you.
Wishing you a continued good week and hope you are having pleasant weather where you are.

Having a good Tuesday; did not work today, stayed home with sick daughter. Took some time to chop, chop, chop a load of veggies and set them in baggies to grab and go. I have a nice assortment all ready to toss into my lunch bag. Day 2 of WW going nicely. Let's hope it continues, lol.
Hope everyone is having a good day, it's pretty quiet around here...

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend. I said a few days ago that hubby was onboard for healthy eating. Well, he is struggling but I think he just needs to remember this is a lifestyle change and not a diet. He was eating a lo so to break that habit it is going to take time. I only bought items that are healthy. He is now a big veggie eater but I made a very good veggie casserole and he actually liked it. I am trying not to fuss at him because I am not perfect by any means.

Hi all! I keep coming and going, and coming and going here...I have to get my head where it belongs and stop wasting months away without any losses. To that end, I officially start Weight Watchers today at work. This is only a 10 week program, but I am hoping that it will be the kick in the you-know-where that I need. I need some IRL accountability, not just a forum that I can just slink away from when I am not doing well.
Is anyone here on Team Indy doing WW? There is a Team for it here, but it does not seem very active. I would like to set myself up here on Spark with someone(s) who I can be accountable to on a one-to-one basis as well, so that when the 10 weeks is over, I have someone established to help keep me in line! Anyone interested?
I am afraid to get on the scale there, but I have to go: friends of mine pitched together to pay for this class for me, and I cannot let them down!
Hope everyone is having a good start to their Monday!

Hi Shelia,
OK in answer to your question..... I hope this helps and I'm sorry I am so late in helping!
To set your ticker: Go to your MY TRACKERS key at the top of the page.... Under the large word START on the left you will see a high lighter line saying: ACCOUNT/ EMAIL PREFRENCES..... Click on that and you will go to: ACCOUNT PREFERENCES...... Click on: COMMUNITY...... Go down to the green button: SIGNITURE & TICKERS...... That will take you to a list of what type ticker you want to set up......

Hello everyone. I hope you are all enjoying this day and have something good planned for the weekend. I went grocery shopping this morning and I am proud to say that I did not get any junk food. My hubby has decided that he wants to loose some weight so we are stocked up on fresh fruits and veggies. This will be a real test for him because he usually has his nightly cookies and milk and loves his Milky Way bars. Hopefully he will be satisfied with fruits.

Ok, about 10, 15 minutes later and I ate a cup or so of great northern beans because they are filling, pack nutrients, fiber, and protein so I'll be satisfied quickly and stay that way. I had to put the beans in a storage bowl so that I could just microwave, eat my portion, then store it in the fridge. When I'm hungry like this middle of the night snack raid, I need to get the food away quickly after I've had my bit. Next, stop the urge to nosh by noshing on something harmless. I chose radishes. I may eat 5, I may eat 20, but my nutrition is taken care of and so is my need to nosh.

I guess my weekend trip out of town really wore me out. I have been so tired and sleeping a lot.
Hubby and I went to see a play last night. It was The Addams Family Musical. It was awesome. It has been many years since we had been to a play but I look forward to going often again.
It has been four weeks since my surgery and I think I am ready to start walking. I still can't to any heavy lifting or cleaning. My hubby watches me carefully. Guess I should enjoy the two more weeks. After my doctor gives me the ok he will probably expect me to get busy again. LOL!

Hi team glad to be here with all of you today. Its a rainy day here in Oho, guess my walk will be indoors today, that's okay, I can do this. Journey is going well, I'm 2 wks. in and down 6 lbs, that makes me happy :) I have a long way to go but slow and steady wins the race and its not a race, its a lifestyle so I'll take it a day at a time, and share the journey with friends like YOU. Well off to do more sparking. Have a great day everyone

Despite a bad weekend that seemed to take two days to recover from, I had a good day yesterday. After work, I picked up a rotisserie chicken, so dinner was pretty easy, and it was nice out so I went for walk. My kids asked what I was doing and they decided to go with me so it was really fun. Got a good night's sleep and feel much better about life in general today! Hope everyone is having a good day! Chris

I decided yesterday that I am not going to get a walker. There is nothing really medically wrong with me, other than arthritis and lower back pain. I have decided to work on becoming physically healthier before I go any farther. I ate very well today. Sticking to this diet is not difficult and I often find I forget to have 1 or 2 of my snacks daily. I must be getting enough to eat as I am never hungry. To increase my movement, I walked today for 10 minutes, and I did my physio exercises twice as I am supposed to. I am making healthy changes in my life and this should , given time, improve my health. I lost another pound this week. I would have liked more but wouldn't we all like more of the good things? LOL I am feeling more positive about the fact that I have lost 2 weeks in a row on this diet. I usually would lose 1 week and then gain the next. This is a pleasant change. If I keep up with my new approach to my physical health, I think I will become healthier.

Happy SUnday everyone. Hope you all had a great weekend. I am always surprised by the extreme drop in participation on SPark over the weekend. DO people think they get the weekend off from their journey? I sure don't. Ate well today. Tomorrow is weigh in and I am hoping for a loss, any loss. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Hi team....I'm not doing well today....an old friend passed away suddenly last Sunday and I just found out last night. I'm not doing real well at the moment...overeating and depressed. I will come around, it just was such a shock. It is said that time heals all wounds...I just wish time would go a little faster in this case. I have to get myself back to the mindset I had last month. So far I haven't been doing a very good job. Tomorrow's another day...

Hi to all. Hope you are all having a good day. Jenn, I seem to have a similar problem. I have been sticking to my calorie limit most of the time and I get in 10-12,000 steps a day. I am also drinking 8 glasses of water each day and I am slowly adding strength training. I do get cardio too. Usually I get in a fast walk at least 20 minutes a day.
I have lost 14 lbs. since I started on 2/7/13. I know that's a good thing but I have been stuck there for about 3 weeks! According to my SP goals for weight loss I should be down to 145 by May 16th. At this rate I won't get there!
Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can get that weight loss moving down again?

Good Morning Everyone!
Irma, so glad you made it back to Spark with us! One day at a time my friend!
Jenn, I had the same issue. I lose weight but then I start adding exercise and I begin to gain. I'm sure your right and it has something to do with my body trying to protect itself. After all, It(my body) is probably freaking out every time I try to walk around the block!
Have an awesome, bright, and shiny day my friends!

I was losing weight fine but when I added the 2 mile walk, the weight is coming back. I know it's probably just water retention, so I'm not too worried. I just don't want to weigh in and move my little turtle tracker :( So I'm hoping it will balance out soon.

Awww Debbie, sorry to hear about the sinus stuff. I was in my docs office a couple months ago because I couldn't get rid of the nasal thing. She prescribed Flonase for me, it's a steroid but you spay it in your nose 1x a day and she said once I could smell it, then it was time to be done...hehehe, but can use it when needed if it starts up again. It didn't seem to make me want to eat anymore than normal. Good luck my friend.

Sorry to hear that Sandra....... Hope your able to come back soon!
Sandy, I have 2 turkeys in the freezer and I need to get them out to cook soon myself.
I am on hold with the ENT this morning. Trying to get in and get this sinus infection under control...... Every time I cough my ear hurts, UGH.....! I know her usual plan is to give me a shot of steroid and one of antibiotics but I'm hoping that can be by-passed. I don't want to gain any weight back from the steroids......
I pray everyone has a bright and shiny weight loss/maintaining day!
Good Monday morning . I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Mine was pretty uneventful...just the way I like it. I did make a new salad this weekend, here is the link to the recipe. It makes a huge salad and I divided by 8 so the servings are humongous. Enjoy if you make it.
Morning everyone! Happy Sunday! Got up early to start laundry and clean up the house. Going to make myself a breakfast sandwich and keep moving. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Happy early Sunday morning to everyone. I like to start my mornings in the quiet of the house when everyone else is still sleeping and I get to sit here with my coffee and read up on all my sp friends...and it is really working on me. It's my me time.
Cooked a turkey yesterday, and today I am making this new mexican salad (called for chix but I'm using turkey) I can't wait to try it.

sandy so you know what its like i wouldn't wish this on anyone its terrible. ive been on gabapinton, lyrica, and nothing works for me. the doc prescribed 3 pills a day of tramadol[pain reliever] and it sometimes takes the edge off. sometimes i rub some mentholatom on themand it helps for maybe 20, 30 min.. mentholatum is good for lots of things lol and guess theres no cure for this so if you have diabetes, keep your glucose numbers in check, please
now on a happier note, the weekend is almost here which lots of you look forward too. as i don't work its no biggy to me other then i look forward to church on sunday evenings.
rainy out today but still kind of warm.

Good morning!
I woke quite groggy this morning. I had a late meeting which included dinner. There wasn't a lot to choose from that was healthy. I did the best I could and ate small portions. Therefore, I came in way under my calorie goal. But it was so late when I got home that I wasn't going to eat a full meal then. I think the hour and the messed up diet is really making me drag today. Thankfully it's my second "recovery" day. Hopefully I'll get in some ST but that will be about it. I find myself struggling more and more to get that ST in as scheduled. Maybe I need to join a specific ST challenge!
Have a lovely day wherever you are, teammates!
