It's good to have you back Donna! Glad your sister was there while you were ill! Sorry no one bothered to feed you. I hope you get to 100% real soon!

Getting some new athletic shoes! DH agreed that I need some well cushioned athletic shoes so I ordered a pair in and we shall see how my joints do after that! I have been walking in flip flops and that cannot be good on the joints. I have a pair of sneakers but they are all purpose and not cushioned well at all so I am really looking forward to having that extra little something to pad my steps. Also the shoes I'm getting help you strike the ground with your feet placed the right way. Not on heel, not on toe but in the middle of the foot. I never before knew how much you really need to learn before you purchase a decent pair of athletic shoes!

emoticon I am back among the living LOL. Have had a whopper of a head and chest cold. Luckily on Tuesday I picked my sister up at the airport, she was in from Chicago and she just went back today so I was able to spend a few days in bed just resting between coughing fits, breathing treatments and tylenol doses. Bad thing is I slept ALOT and my family never woke me for any meals and I sure didn't feel like cooking so when I woke up it was kinda just snack on whatever I could find that was quick that fit the diet the MD has me on so I could curl up back under the covers. Doing better today.. No more fevers, just still a cough and doing breathing treatments when I need them, kinda limiting my exercising to short 10-15 min spurts. More than that and I can't really breathe because I am in a coughing fit. But glad to be feeling good enough to be out of bed! emoticon

Hi Everyone. I have been MIA with some depression but am feeling much better. When does next weeks challenge go up? I did a good job on my water but I usually have no trouble with that. On to better days. Nice to read that everyone is well and reasonably happy.

I suppose I had best just get used to getting up after 4 hours of sleep and having to go back to sleep later on to get the other 4 hours. Since I started SP I have really been trying to get my sleep in all in one shot but my back has other definite ideas about how that is NOT going to work. So I must adapt and learn that I can't re-program my entire life in one fell swoop!

I used SparkPeople and ate MORE naturally, in other words, less processed foods. I started by eliminating growth hormones, which can make cows fat (and thus the people who eat and drink from the cows fat) from meat and milk and buying organic. Talk to your doctor about anything I'm about to type next. It is only my opinion and I am writing from my experience.

The LESS Processed food in your diet, the thinner and less hungry you will be. Your appetite will drop like crazy when you get on more natural sources of food. Note: I say MORE and never ALL. ALL makes life a pain in the butt sometimes and can be very expensive, but it is something to strive fore.

Vitamin D is something people who have a lot of belly fat are low in, which has been shown in many scientific studies (see google), so I took it through my weight loss for seasonal affective disorder (depression from sun deprivation) and also because I have a lot of belly fat.

Cinnamon and Chromium 2000 mg cures a sweet tooth for me personally and is something that helps with my diabetes and helped me get off insulin. You can get it at any Walgreens or Walmart and it comes in a green bottle for around ten dollars. It helps with keeping blood sugar from spiking and seems to help me with my binging. I also took this throughout my weight loss and need to get back to it. It seems I plateau whenever I become lax with this one supplement.

B12 I took this throughout my whole weight loss in either shot or tablet form. It helps with energy and pairs well with the other B vitamins for balance, especially b6 and b1.

Protein- I like Nectar Sweets by Syntrax, which you can get on Amazon because it mixes well, isn't clumpy and tastes good. There are a variety of flavors and you don't have to drink 8 ounces at a time! 2 ounces can give you 24 grams of protein for 100 calories! Flavors include my personal faves: cookies and cream, fuzzy navel, double stuffed cookie, chocolate truffle, cappuccino, strawberry mousse, vanilla torte and more.

I did it! Thanks to SPARKPEOPLE for making me realize dreams do come true! I graduated and am now a certified professional weight loss coach! I lost 240 pounds without weight loss surgery because of SPARKPEOPLE and dared to dream again. It turned my life completely around. Just found out today that someone I knew from church in Florida passed away from cancer that she has been battling for 2 years. She was a truly beautiful person both on the inside and out, she was on our worship team and other than using a stool to sit on, on her bad days you never would know anything was wrong with her, she was that type of person. She leaves behind a husband and 3 teenagers without a mother. It makes me wonder... sometimes with all I have gone through, why didn't God take me and let her live. I have no one who relies on me, no children I will miss seeing grow up, get married and have their own children. I have no husband who will grieve over not having a partner. I know we are not made to understand God and His ways are not ours, but it grieves me to know so many lives are hurting right now because she is not there with them, when it could have been so different. My family is not really close, so there's not really anyone who would really miss me... why cause so much pain within a family when it could be so different? Guess it's one of those things about God I'll never understand.

Hey, no worries about replying! Life happens!!!!

I am happy to report that I had a very celebratory day yesterday, on all accounts!! Woo hoo!

I'll think about the challenge..... like I said, the times when I've projected out weight loss goals have worked against me. When my body doesn't cooperate lie I want it to, I get discouraged and in the past, rather than adjust my goals, I just quit.

but I'm thinking about it...... I'm different now, right?

How nice to see replies!!! Woot!!!

I am celebrating today in anticipation of my official weekly weigh in.... it should be a good one. I've worked very hard. I am also celebrating in anticipation of 2 books that I think will have some good nutritional/dietary advice/ideas in them..... if the USPS would just cooperate! LOL! Still, I anticipate receiving them soon, and that gives me lots of hope. I am also celebrating the anticipation of some chair exercise videos I ordered today! Again, just hoping the USPS cooperates!

AND, I am also looking forward to a weekly weight loss support group I go to (TOPS) on Wednesday mornings where the ladies are fun and hysterical and I love being around them..... tomorrow is our first meeting at a new meeting place. So that should be fun! However, even if the scale comes up with something different tomorrow than what I anticipate it will, then I'm still going to have a great day and just work harder for this next week.

So, lots of celebrating over this way!!!! How's everyone else doing?? I'm looking forward to getting to know my team mates, so we can cheer each other on!

Hi Team!

I haven't been active in any of my Spark Teams, but I'm finding that I sure could use some friends and an online Spark People support network if I'm ever going to get out of this scale vortex.

I'm interested in the challenge, but I'm afraid to put a goal like that in writing. My body seems to lose weight in its own time, so when I project a weight loss goal, it's never worked out for me. On the other hand, if I focus on nutrition and a little movement, and let the scale do what the scale wants to do, it seems to work better for me.

So, I'm here, looking for friends and connections.

Where was her stroke at Debbie? That is what I keep trying to find out from my doctors, if I will ever not have the dizziness, nausea and imbalance from the brainstem stroke. They keep telling me they can't say for sure. None of the doctors I have had have had brainstem stroke patients live or live and not be in coma like state... so they keep saying they can't tell me if this will always be my baseline or if it will improve.

It's just a recumbant exercise bike, by my bed, tends to make me dizzy so I need to rest afterwards, so I had to put it in a safe place for me since my strokes. But believe me, I do not want surgery, so I am being very very careful....thanks for the concern Sheryl. emoticon

DLYNN, keep an eye on what hurts, biking uses different muscles than walking, I couldn't understand why I could walk for miles and get tired biking around the block.

Nothing that will strain the abdomen,, but besides that as long as it doesn't increase my pain it's ok. If my pain starts increasing he wants me to slow back down. He said it will be kinda like an achilles heel for the next month or so. (He's worried about the inflamed pouches tearing with them already being weakened and then that would require surgery). Today I walked for 30 min and did ok. Only was able to 6 min on the bike though.

So I went to the Dr. for my diverticulitis follow up. I can now move from the liquid diet to a low fiber diet. Here is what is on my list
1. White bread, white potatoes and pastas only. NO grains, nuts, seeds, oats..
2. Soft fruits only, no cruncy fruits or fruit with skin, no cruciferous vegetables, no vegetables or other food items over 3 gms of fiber
3. Ground beef, veal, pork, other soft meats.
4. Eggs. Fiber NOT TO exceed 10 gms/day.
I have to follow this for the next month at least, longer if I am still having any intermittant pain periods.
I read it and was like OK... still determined to lose weight on it, not stopping me, just need to figure out the way!!!! emoticon

The weather man reported a 2nd cold front coming down from the north headed our way. Of course it only slips us into the 70's during the morning and mid to high 80's in the afternoon but here in south Texas, WE'LL TAKE IT! emoticon

Beth .... I really wish I could make the rally's they sound like so much fun...... but until we can get ourselves on our feet financially and family issue wise, my fun will have to wait. Don't count me out forever though..... we might just jump in our RV and head that way when we are able too. Wouldn't that be funny! emoticon emoticon


Well my darling daughter is in the weight loss / healthy mood kick this morning.... I pray it works for her this time!

I have joined with miss Beth so I will see what 12 months brings me.... It's not like I'm not getting the extra exercise up and down my RV steps! emoticon

I just got to thinking this morning that God must have wanted me to go with the RV at this time in my life because while we were looking at different RV's my mind never ventured to the (what if my knees give out or my back starts to spasm) train of thought. I always think that way..... you know? I can't go there on vacation because it's to much walking.... I can't go to the zoo because it's to much walking ..... I can't go to the flower gardens because there might be stairs to climb emoticon .... but for some reason that never came to mind when we decided on the RV way of life.... curious huh?!

Well, I'm off to the Demonstration Garden at the State Fair for the last time this summer. I get off the shuttle quite a distance from the garden, so I can get some extra exercise.

Sheryl, I will check this out....

Covegirl .... I have been there before. I walk around in a funk most of the time requardless of the amount of sleep I have gotten...... Keep us posted.

OK..... I have a new spiral notebook and plan to get moving on (THE HEALTHIER ME) .
BC was 162 ..... not a good start this morning but it IS a start!

I also had one of those AHA...... moments when I went to get into our pickup truck this morning. We have side step rails to help me get in and out of the truck. I usually put my right foot on the rail and then DRAG my left leg up.... then I catch a breath and swing myself into the seat and by then I am breathing deep. emoticon
Well as most of you know, me and DH moved into our RV about 3 weeks ago.......
This morning after doing what I call (MY STAIR STEPPER EXERCISES) emoticon
getting in and out of the RV every single time at least 10 times a day!

I stepped up on the side rail of the truck and swung myself into the seat in one smooth motion!
HOW AWESOME WAS THAT?! emoticon emoticon
