Oh, NO ! Beth! You sure, and hubby, have our prayers ! Knowing you, you have the 'grit' to 'overcome'. I'm sure your hubby does also.

Remember, you are 'covered' with prayers.

God Bless You and Hubby.

Doctor results: Cyst in my shoulder joint the size of an orange. Needs to be removed along with part of the joint and part of the collar bone. Knee caps off center, bad arthritis, possible tear in the meniscus, some bone on bone activity, and spurs. Surgery in the future. Need to lose more weight and strengthen shoulders first. Husbands colon cancer is possibly back, biopsy and removal is in two weeks. We can use prayers to get through this and prayers about how we are going to pay the medical bills.

Angie - So glad you got moved in!

ChoosingHealthy - So happy you did not break anything but falling still hurts!

Been watching the grand kidlets for a couple hours a day every day here and am just catching up with the boards!

Got my daughter and her family moved in where it's nice and warm and safe! Still have things to get to a storage facility but that will hopefully be done on Saturday! I have been kept incredibly busy watching the grands and trying to let everyone settle into their routines before we "blend" me in to the mix!

I hope everyone is doing well! I have to run.... Grandkids time!

Sorry I'm MIA again. Many Doctor appointments. Shoulder- rotator cuff. Knee- torn meniscus. Back- well, too much to list. Anyway, I'm getting the lowdown on the shoulder today. Trying hard not to derail healthy eating habits because they keep things from breaking down further. They also help me feel my optimum.

We had to turn around and come back home 75 miles out. Our friend called and said that Ft. Worth was shutting down everything.

So we packed, drove up the road 75 miles, turned around, ate lunch, came home, unpacked!

The rest of my weekend was nice, but cold. How about you?

Sorry about the family BlueJay. Here in Texas we have cold but no snow. That may change tomorrow or Saturday. We are watching the weather because we are supposed to go to Ft. Worth tomorrow for a dear friend's retirement party, spending the night and coming back home... not if there is ice!

Waltons Ha!Ha! I still watch it occasionally.

BLUEJAY1969 (Jeanne) we still didn't get much snow last night. Not even an inch. It is bitter cold again today. I hope it warms up for Saturday when I have a little help to move some stuff, Tuesday when we get my storage stuff and March 7th when I move the rest.

Hope your daughter and family are able to move quickly; especially in your weather.

Hope you have a good day!

Woke up to 6" of new snow this morning and it looks as if it may begin snowing again! I can't wait for Spring!

Kind of a long story... My DD's aunt-in-law inherited the house they are living in from my DD's MIL when she passed which she was supposed to leave it to the kids or at least the grand kids but the aunt strong armed her into changing her will. Sad story behind that. Anyway they have been paying rent and fixing it up for over 2 years now. They called her a week ago and told her the furnace was out and she booted them out in the middle of the winter. The sister-in-law and her 4 year old live there too. So the aunt is putting 6 people out during one of the worst winter periods we've had this year and 3 of them are babies! There is nothing they can do about it legally... we checked. The sis-in-law and her daughter are moving in with her b/f and of course my DD and her DH and my grands are moving in here with us. But even at my age I have found that I can be truly shocked by the complete depths of cruelty that people can sink to.

DD and her family will live here with us until they can get into an affordable place around here..... There is a pretty nice place opening up in June that is fairly close to us and that would be perfect for them! They could make rent and have 3 bedrooms so that the baby and her big brother can have their own space. For now we are making do with the 2 bedrooms in our lower (garden) level. DD's hubby said "it'll be like the Waltons!" I didn't realize he was old enough to remember that one!

I used to have a very friendly and loving Cocker spaniel my cousin gave me (I named him Bumblebee, loved the Transformers at that age) because her daughter was 'allergic' to dogs. A couple of months later they got a new golden retriever puppy and and the younger cousin let slip the reason they got rid of the one they gave me was because it was too tall to be a successful show dog.

I was happy to have Bumblebee but really, they should have been honest about the reasons. Still played with her daughter when she visited her grandma (and my aunt, who lived next door to me) but I felt rather uncomfortable going to their house after that.

Progress, not perfection.

We have a new friend named Jake who took us for two walks this morning.
He is almost a year old Cocker spaniel mix and very patient with me and DH. He barks very little, learns fast, and seems to be very happy.

He is enjoying a life outside his kennel. (Most of the time)

His old mommy and daddy worked a lot and he just didn't get much exercise. He was headed to his appointment with the ASPCA on Monday before we called and asked about him so it was a win / win situation!

My other new exercise equipment is a new pair of fishing gloves so I can remove the fish my self!

ANGIEN9 ..... Angie, I pray this team stays the way it is, helpful, supportive, and non-judgemental! And I for one am glad you are here

BLUEJAY1969 ..... Jeanne, I can so picture the description you described.... I know you were serious but TY for lifting my mood a little this morning!

THERRERA397 ..... OUCH! Oh I am so sorry to hear that! When my son was born, he was born face up (postpartum?) and his big head broke my tail bone in three places...... I hated that recovery! The little donut emoticon pillows help but until it heals you will be doing a lot of reclining, which I'm sure you have already discovered.....

I am sick of the female issues that go with peri-menopause. Thankfully, I don't have the energy problem. I am definitely in limbo right now. Packing, water exercise twice a week and counting steps. Not getting enough exercise and I chalk that up to lack of motivation and pain. I have to start pretty soon or the weight will just get higher and the pain much worse!!

I am about out of patience with my body! I am taking iron to replenish myself but the energy I've lost is taking so long to come back! I haven't been able to workout. Each day I question myself...... "are you just being lazy?" to which I have to answer "no" because just going up the stairs causes me to have to stop and rest and wait for my head to quit swimming! Today I have been awake longer than I have for the past week and so I think it might actually be starting to work. Female troubles are absolutely the pits! Enough with the complaining though!

I have ordered a stability ball that I'm going to sit on at my desk or watching TV/reading etc for brief periods of time to begin with and build up. I try really hard to keep my posture good while I do those things but I often lose focus and with the stability ball either you balance or you fall off of it so you have to keep that core engaged! I found one with a 2000 pound static strength and read the reviews and folks way heavier than I am have been using it just fine. It had over 1100 reviews on Amazon and most of those were 5 star. I also Googled stability ball reviews and it came in number one for strength! I paid a little over $23 (with a foot pump) for it but I did not want to purchase a $10 one and end up sitting on the floor with a stupid look on my face and my butt lecturing me about being a cheapskate! emoticon

My internet is very slow this morning and that's something ( I ) we are having to get accustomed to.

I want to say how very humbled I am to those of you that deal with Bipolar every day and to the others that share their experience and help the others around you..... TY for caring!

We had a busy weekend and I have put in a lot of steps and upper body exercise. By the way, air hockey, fishing, and relocating my chair every time we moved to a new fishing hole, are all very good upper body workouts.....!
We had a good time with the kids and couldn't have asked for better Valentines for the past two day's.
Then I received a heart shaped lid from a small empty box of valentines candy from our four year old granddaughter. She had this to say:
Nana, I saved this for you.... Happy Valentine's Day Nana!

PEOPLE..... It just doesn't get much better than that! emoticon

Angie - My soul sister! Yes manias are absolutely no fun at all! I too dislike change and it's absolutely imperative to change when you want to begin living a healthy life. I have been diagnosed for over 20 years but actually bipolar from the time I was about 10. I was misdiagnosed as having depression alone at 14 as no one asked the right questions for over 10 years. I have a severe back injury and I am fortunate when I get 1000 steps a day in and that's a huge leap up from the 300 I used to get in. The important thing is that you are trying! I just recently purchased a DVD with Leslie Sansone for walking at home. You get a full workout and need only enough space to walk in place. I have a very small amount of space in my house to exercise in and this works perfectly for me. I got the video for $8 I believe and it has both a one and a two mile walk routine on it. However if you want, she has utube videos with her routines on them for free! The thing I like about her is that she is not overly perky but nice and friendly and encouraging! The other DVD's I have are all chair exercise videos as that is how I started out 7 months ago. I just recently graduated to the walking. I have to sit a couple of times during the mile but I can do it! As far as easy meals ... I do a lot of pre-cut frozen veggies and bake a lot of things like chicken breasts and pork chops. I also do easy crock pot meals and I always cook enough for 3 to 4 days so that I don't have to cook every day. DH is great and will eat whatever is put in front of him! If you want some easy recipes, shoot me an email. You could always make the same amount I do and then freeze individual portions to pull out and microwave for other days! Sorry to be so darn wordy.. just had a lot of good info I wanted to share!

I have dealt with bipolar depression and mania for over 30 years. Mania may seem like a good thing, until the crash hits. I am in a good place right now mentally and emotionally, however, I am really struggling with exercise and tracking food. I have had some injuries that prevent me from exercising much. I get anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 steps in a day. I know I can do more. After I move into my new apartment building I will be able to walk the halls in the winter when it is cold and icy outside. I have decided to get settled and not stress too much tracking food right now. I am starting to pack my kitchen, then I will be eating easy things. I have a hard time with transition and trying not to change too much at once. At least the move is in the same city.

I'm working through insomnia issues, feeling a bit like a plane flying upside down for a while. I'm slowly restabilizing, working to get to bed by 10pm each night. I relate to what others have said about depression. I don't feel a lot of joy right now, and can't even do the things I love. I want to get back to being passionate, creative and a positive person. Coming back to SP again is starting to help, because at least I'm making little changes...like caring about my nutrition. Eating garbage and skipping meals because of depression made me feel more lethargic, but I'm starting to feel a little more energy and improved moods. I have faith that things are going to get better.

AHEAVENLEIGH1 - Sweetie what I need to say to you is this..... get help for how you feel. I suffer from bipolar and when I get to where you are..... I go in for help even though I am "used" to it! It's normal to get a bit blue once in a while but when it lasts for an extended period of time it is an actual depression. Even if it's caused by circumstances in your life, you may need temporary anti-depressant medication. I want to see you mentally healthy because without that, it does not matter how good a shape your body is in. emoticon emoticon

I have never been a real depressed person in my life. I have had my moments but they just come and go quickly which I have been grateful for. Well recently I have been in this funk I cannot seem to shake off. I saw a doctor that is a specialist who works on the athletes here. My foot problem is more like an ankle problem. My shoulder is also still messed up. Both due to previous injuries and they haven't healed correctly because of not being able to have proper time off from work and such. Now because I am older I may have to deal with this pain. So I am to not use my foot or shoulder much for the next two weeks, hot packs for both, creams to help the pain and celebrex. Then when I go back we talk about physical therapy. I have to even limit my amount of house cleaning I do on a daily basis because he does not want me standing to long. Keep my walking down to a minimum. This just makes me want to hibernate. I do not read my emails in a timely manor, I do not get excited about doing things even if they are fun things, and I have a hard time getting out of bed. I know there are people out there worse off than me, so I should pull myself out of this. Right now I am still dealing with the blow from all this.

BLUEJAY, it's great that you're being proactive on getting some weight off now. I gained 80 lbs while going through menopause and more since! I wish someone had told me ahead of time. Maybe they did and I just didn't listen; at any rate, I'll be working on getting it off from now on.

I can totally relate to suffering through the symptoms. I had 4 teenagers living in my house during that time and no one died--it was a miracle!

Deb - I guess I meant where was your camper parked before and why did you decide to move it? It sounds beautiful where you are though! Are you near enough to a town/city that it doesn't affect your shopping etc?

I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and she was thrilled with the 20 pounds I've lost since I last saw her in December! I love going in and having the scale show good things to her! I may be able to get off of nighttime oxygen if my overnight oxymeter test comes out good! I also got on birth control pills to alleviate my horrible peri-menopause symptoms. I was given the risk factors and think it's well worth it to make the dizziness, miserable periods, severe irritability, hot flashes and night sweats go away! The irritability is terrible! I want to slap the crap out of everyone emoticon that does the least little irritating thing and I am an absolute witch about anything I disagree with or sometimes for no reason at all! It's like severe PMS 24/7/365! I'll be ever so glad when that goes away! All in all a very successful visit to the doc!

DH and I raised our grandson since he was 3 months old. He is now 22 and when he moved out 2 years ago I cried for a month couldn't even go in his room. I see him more now than I did when he was at home.

I am fighting a cold so going back to bed and rest was up all night coughing.

Jeanne, We moved out to the country. It's about 12 miles from the grandbabies but it feels like a 100...... We sold the house to our middle daughter. They have 6 people in their family and need the 4 bedrooms and we do NOT need that much space. Our youngest lives with them in the closed in den.
We are retiring in 2 years and with DH's health issues, keeping a big place together is just to difficult. I certainly can not do it and we have been like two newlyweds out here. It's funny how you get into a routine of living together but never actually KNOWING each other after 36 years. It's so very peaceful and relaxing here...... I still feel the separation of my babies and grandbabies but I truly believe this was a good thing for the two of us and my daughters family as well. First time on our own in a VERY long time!

Terri, We have 15 gran's and 6.5 greats....... 6 of the grand's are within driving distance and I miss the others being so far away..... It's as if I was born to love on these amazing gifts from God!
The poles seem interesting. I think I will check them out. I have a cane I use right now and that helps. There's no way a walker would work, the trails are all dirt trails and the roads here are all gravel.....

Deb, have you ever tried using poles while walking? We picked some up to use on our hikes after I had foot surgery and I am sold on them. You might still have to make your walks short until you get the lay of the land, but the poles will help with stability.

Those grands sure take up a lot of space in our hearts, don't they? We have 14 who all live close to us--10 of them can walk to our house so I know what you mean, Deb.

Deb - I know what you mean. When my DD and her family moved out, I felt bereft for quite a while. It's trite but if you have to you will get used to it. Why did you guys move from being by their house if I can ask?

I am having to get use to the inactiveness out here in the RV park, my new surroundings, and the unfamiliar Touraine for walking. I have issues with walking for more than 10 minutes and I have to map out my sitting stops or carry my chair everywhere I go and I can't lift my feet very high off the ground so I can trip very easily....
I miss my grandbabies so much and when they call all sad because I am not where they can just run out the door into the trailer, I end up sobbing like a big titty baby.

This is really a life change my friends!

Sandra, I have made those same excuses myself but they are valid reasons too.

Jeanne, I am starting to get the walking going myself. I do hold onto the basket a lot but I am on my feet and not my seat!

Sheryl, the hogs around here are by no means cute. The tusks on them are huge and they like the taste of human.....

SPARKLINGME , A flash dance mob is amazing and I love watching them. How much fun that will be! emoticon

Well I wasted January not meeting my goals. do not want to let this year go by without a good loss. I am a diabetic and on medication which makes it hard for me to lose. NO MORE EXCUSES. There are a lot of diabetics that can lose. I WILL BE ONE OF THEM!

Deb - I am so happy that you are getting to move to a nice park where you will have nature around you! Sheryl is right.... you could meet a good friend and go wandering the trails together. Or maybe DH could be persuaded to go with you now and again!

Sheryl - I bet those baby pigs are cute!!

I appear to be a bit stuck so I took a look at what I'm doing and found that I am not putting enough effort into my workouts. I have gotten stronger and therefore more umph is required to be able to burn that fat! Also been fooling around on my nutrition. Too many carbs one day, not enough protein another, etc. I am going to pay closer attention to ALL my numbers like I used to, instead of just the calories. We shall see if these two changes get me unstuck! I hate change and I think I've been putting off starting a walking DVD due to that and the fact that I didn't know if I could make it long enough for it to even be worth getting the dvd started in the player. However Sunday I was able to walk/stand for 15 minutes or more at the yarn store so I know now it will be worth the wait for all the darn warnings to go by on the front of the video! Today I WILL do as much of that video as I can!

Deb, that sounds wonderful. We have wild pigs everywhere, thanks to the Spaniards centries ago. I have encountered babies once in my hikes. Scared me as I wondered where mamma was. I think you will eventually love the trails. Maybe a neighbor will walk with you once you have a chance to meet some people.

Hi! Great team! This is what I am up to, today!

YES! find YOUR passions, it helps me, when I get over whelmed! Some of mine are Zumba, Hiking, walking, learning about Angels, meditating, playing with my parakeet, LUCKY & our dog, LUCY, spending date nights with my DH, collecting memorabilia from my favorite movie, ENCHANTED, Sparking..... and on & on! I wake up & look for new goals, new interests to keep me motivated to get back & stay at goal! emoticon

I am re-adjusting my food intake with my exercise, as I stated in the blog! Seems to be working! I'll know by weigh in Friday! Also I am rehearsing daily, for a FLASH MOB on Friday..... a couple will be getting engaged! Who wonderful for them! emoticon

Ouch Terri! Be super careful this week...... emoticon

Sheryl, we have about 20 acher's of walking trails close to the trailer but I'm a little timid about getting back there on my own. Apparently there is the normal wildlife as well as a few pics and hogs..... Now THAT makes me nervous, but there are ample places to walk all over the park, over one of the ponds on a bridge and around the other two ponds as well.

Jeanne, as usual you humble me with your never say die attitude and you encourage me to fight on....... emoticon

We've been out of town and without my scale or Internet for a week. I kept track of what I ate, but couldn't plug it in to the Spark tracker until today. I now see that I ran over my calorie range all week, so I'm sure that I've regained my initial loss. I'll weigh first thing in the morning and record it and then move on. We're going to be gone a lot for the next month. I need a way to hold myself more immediately accountable.

Yesterday, I didn't pick up my feet high enough and tripped over a step and fell down. I came down on my right knee first and now it's swollen and stiff. I've been icing it and that helps, but walking hurts.

Deb and Jeanne, both of you are doing better! Good going Deb with the move, I think you will find things to do in the park you haven't been able to do before. Is it near nature trails?

Deb - that is terrific about your numbers being down! We all have those times when we use excuses... doesn't make you a bad person at all, just makes you human!

I got a workout in yesterday and it felt great! Managed to do my normal hour plus! I was happy as I thought after not working out hard for 3 days I'd be kind of lagging! I have put weight this week due to TOM. I am not happy about it but as there is nothing in the world I can do about it, I am learning to accept it! I have done everything right so it's not up to me this time around! I am running behind a bit today so I'd best scoot!

Well I am up in more ways then one..... I have managed to put back on weight. I think it's because I need a good cleaning out but I haven't the time right now. I knew this weeks stress would effect my weight and YES I am aware that I shouldn't allow it to effect me. Oh how I wish I could. Then add the fact that I hurt my toe again which kept me from my daily walks didn't help either, but that's all excuses and I am aware of that as well.....

It's another week my friends and we get to move in to the RV park on Saturday!

Oh and even though I had the weight gain, I DID manage to have a NSV this chilly morning, my blood count was 123.... now that might seem high to a few of you but my blood count has been way out of control and it has been gradually lowering since I have began eating healthier. This is much lower than the 168 I had at the beginning of the week emoticon

I'll take it! emoticon

Great job on the steps Deb!! My Spark activity tracker never records my workouts so I don't get credit for chair marching. emoticon That's okay though because I count it separately! I am feeling so much better today and will be working out shortly! My joints are so excited!

2BDYNAMIC - Terrific news! I read your blog and I think it's great that you've found a plan that works for you! I would have trouble with it as I stand right now due to the fact that I have already made so many changes! Maybe one day in the future!

Sheryl - I read on the other page that you are on antibiotics to help you get well. I hope they do the trick for you! It's hard enough with you having a hand hurting you! I'm sorry I haven't wished you well before now. I've not had my mind where it needed to be the last few days!
