My sister is getting married in September and my dress fits, but it doesn't zip up. I am so overwhelmed trying to lose weight to fit into the dress that I'm afraid I won't be able to and the dress still won't fit in September. I need some encouragement. After seeing Indygirl's success, I know I can do it. I've been making small changes lately. But after seeing Indygirl and how far she has come, I feel encouraged.

Hello
I am new to this team.I am 63 yrs old and have been trying to lose weight my entire life, I've been on about every plan there is and just never stick with it.

I found Spark people and love it! I can track my food and stay within my calorie range as the range they give you is quite reasonable.If I am hungrier some days I can have more if not then I eat less.

I was getting ready to throw in the towel(again) as I had gained (again).Then I read Indy girls blog and was so impressed I felt like if she can do it... I can too.So I am back Sparkin.
And I did lose one more this this week. I have around 128 to loose total. Now I have 123lbs to loose.OH MY sounds like a looooong ol road! But one day at a time!!!

I can't exercise because of bones and etc.But I am planning on going to the Aquatic center as they are open year round inside pool and outside for summer. I can walk but it is slow.I do enjoy going for walks and Love the mileage tracker here on Sparks People.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. So let's KEEP SPARKIN.

Finally got to the store and remembered to pick up a food scale. Woot! I've been weighing everything for the last day. So yesterday I weighed and measured and was fairly impressed with my accuracy. Now we'll see how well I am at eyeballing correct portions!

Day two - recorded all my meals yesterday and SURPRISE TO ME: actually went for two walks. Short one at work and a little longer at home with #2 daughter, hubby and big furry dog....hip joints were burning but made it around the block. HUGE step for me yesterday.

Weigh in today - lost 4.5 lbs. I KNOW it's not from walking yesterday but this was just the "KICK" I needed to see to help me work thru the "burn" and keep moving.

I will pledge 10 minutes a day. But I will push for 2 or 3 10-minute workouts a day. I walked almost everyday last week for at least 15 minutes, a few times 30 minutes, and the reward was a loss of 4.8 lbs. Even though exercising can be difficult it has its rewards.

06 Feb - 30-mins.
Had four cups of water by noon (by the time I take my meds and eat beakfast I can drink that much).

07 Feb - 10 8 C Water
08 Feb - 30 8 C Water
09 Feb - 30 8 C Water
10 Feb - 20 8 C Water




well, I guess this was January's challenge but I am just getting into the groove of exercising. So I would like to continue posting.

I am putting a check in the WIN column for 2011...18 lbs lighter.

Definitely eating a bit smarter, but not exercising enough. So for 2012, I am vowing to move at least 10 min a day, to start. And to be consistant, both in moving and eating smarter!

Yesterday I completed my 10 minute walk at 2.0 before breakfast and another 10 minute walk before dinner. Then I played and watched the 4 grandchildren under 5 for an hour while their parents worked out at my house.
It's a start.....

Today so far I have finished my first 10 minutes of walking 2.0 - 2.5 and plan another 10 tonight

I did not feel well at all yesterday but when I read the SparkMail from ~INDYGIRL I was motivated to just move. So, I got up and did 30 minutes of chair dancing. I will get another 30 in today as well. Thanks for the kick in the rear ~INDYGIRL I needed it.

That is excellent! I bought zumba for the wii to get my exercise in. I can not keep up with all the steps, if anyone was watching I am sure they would be laughing hysterically. But, it does get me moving and I enjoy the music. I think the 10 min 2x a day is a great idea, just moving is wonderful! emoticon

Good Morning....
Went and invested in the year 2012 this week. We purchased a treadmill and an elliptical machine. Treadmill is mostly for me and the elliptical for my daughters. One of my daughters is very heavy and the treadmill is about all that will hold her weight right now but not for long. She has dropped 6 pounds since we started a week ago. We realize that it’s probably water weight but that excess water has to go.......
So I have started this challenge with a goal of at least 2 ten minute workouts a day. Yesterday I finished one 11 minute workout before breakfast and 10 minutes early afternoon. This morning I did my 10 minute walk at 1.5 - 2.0 and it’s probably my imagination but in one day I already feel stronger. My knee isn’t bothering me half as bad as I thought it would but my lower back was screaming this morning. That might have something to do with lifting my 28 pound granddaughter all day yesterday… Between my workout, Kelli's, and Bobi Jeans, we are having to adjust the belt on the treadmill..... LOL.....POOR treadmill!

10 mins a day is how I started- then did 2-10 minutes a day- right now I do 2-15 mins a day and i am working on doing 1-30 min session a day! keep up the great work ladies and gentlemen :) and the whole point is to move, don't over do it or burn yourself out trying to keep up with someone else's goals- once 10 mins a day is too esy then set your next fitness goals :) xoxo

What is the current challenge? Is it still losing two pounds by New Year's - from ?? and keeping it off? I think I did.. lost two lbs recently - last week, and now to resist all the Christmas chocolate so I don't put it back on!!

I'm worried about eating 4-5 smaller meals. This coming Monday I start a new job 7:30am to 4:00pm. There is no way that I'm going to get snacks in between breakfast, lunch and dinner. If I do, I'm going to have to inhale whatever I'm eating because we take our breaks in shifts and lunch time is the only break long enough that I can take my time to enjoy what I'm eating. emoticon

I love this challenge idea! :) I'm new to the team (just joined this morning! Yay!), and portions are my biggest problem. I can move more, but the weight just keeps going back on because my eating isn't controlled. Woke up this morning so tired of the edema and aches and pains and pain when standing all of that, and I went to the store and got fresh veggies, potatoes and healthy toppers (going to try cottage cheese for the first time EVER tonight at dinner. YUM!), and nothing unhealthy at all. I spent this morning looking around for Sparkhelp and motivation, and I found it. I just need to jump in with both feet and get that scale moving in the right direction. :)

So I am definitely IN! :)

So far so good here. I finally lost a few and broke my plateau. Total is 152 now, aiming for 161 by Christmas.

I'm eating good foods that give me energy and keep me full.

New team for New Me November! I think this is a mostly doable challenge for me however sometimes I struggle with exactly 3-4 hours because my schedule is set for me...I teach kindergarten so I eat when they go to recess or lunch.

6:30 Breakfast
10:00 Small Snack
12:45 Lunch
3:15 Larger Snack
6:15 Dinner
8:45 Small Snack

I think I can do this...I hope I will have enough time each day to eat during these times. Something always comes up (Thursday it was a bloody nose during my lunchtime, Monday it was setting up for the kids' Halloween parties, next week it will be parent-teacher conferences) but I think if I mainly stick to this it will help me!

I guess I will try it. I've never been able to eat every 3-4 hours. But I have my husbands Christmas Party the first part of December and I would like to have dropped enough wake that can really show. I haven't seen many people for over a year. I would like to WOW them if possible.

Does anyone have any food ideas to fill a person? Fiber or protein bars or shakes?

Okay I am in until Thanksgiving with eating every 3-4 hours, eating small portions, splitting meals, and eating at home before going to parties, etc.... I got a X-Mas goal and need to do any and everything to get their. Pray for me. emoticon

The next challenge is to go until Thanksgiving eating small = small size items, appetizers, split meals, small servings. The weight will come off this Holiday season!


Remember to eat every 3-4 hours to stay full.
Drink water.
Eat something healthy before parties.
Eat your healthy protein first with some fiber, that will fill you up.
Then get spoon fulls at Thanksgiving Dinner and have your own taste party of the rest of the meal.
Traditional favorites- be sure to have them, don't deprive yourself.

DO NOT let holiday/family get togethers turn into an intervention on your weight. That is not the time or the place, Tell them if they really cared, they would not embarrass you like this at a family celebration by trying to bring up your weight negatively. Tell them you have a new program in your life and things are changing. They can talk to you in private another time if they really care.

I am jumping in late with only 4 days to go till Halloween but I am in this one. Haven't had candy in a while anyway. Although have been craving it. I keep candy for my Sunday School class at the church so that I want be tempted.

So yesterday one of my coworkers brings in 18 (yes 18) assorted full sized candy bars and plops them on my table and says "help yourself to early Halloween".
Wow...I almost caved. BUT I DIDN'T!!!!!. I am so proud of myself.
Still in the challenge!

No candy for me! I can't have dairy, so I bought all milk chocolate for giving to kids on Halloween, so there's no temptation in my house.

Yeah, I can go candy free until Halloween. I normally don't eat candy though I had some at the movies with the kids the other night! (didn't know about the challenge yet) LOL.

Hello everyone. I've discovered that losing inches is cool. The other night I tried on my winter clothes, blouses, jackets and pants. They all fit loose, the blouses need taken up. I didn't realize that i'd lost so many inches, I've always focused on the lbs. What can I say, "Things that make you go ummmmmmmmmm "

This new revelation helps me say "NO" to sweets. Yes I can!
